Punta Peninsula Varadero: amazing property, nicely manicured gardens.

Vacationed at Blau in February 2014. Enjoyed Our stay and returned in March 2015 and brought daughter & family (4) with us. Wonderful play/activities for the kids. They would go back as well. Great buffet! Good beach.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful beach and pools BUT

This resort has an amazing beach and the pools were beautiful. The grounds were well kept and the entertainment was second to none and very professional. The Cuban, Spanish and Italian Resturants were a special treat but the buffett was less than impressive. My husband was able to eat most of the offerings on the buffet but I was not able to find much. There was a terrible septic/sewer smell in front of the resturant area and needless to say it did do much to enhance one's appetite! I did leave substantial tips and small gifts for the cleaning staff and did receive better treatment (ie towels) than other people I talked to. Some people mentioned that they did not get any towels for two days. We did enjoy the beach and the pool and it was nice to get warm.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: great time

We traveled as a couple Mar 20-27 2015 and had a great time. This is our 2nd time here and we definitely will be returning. Miguel and Rayden as usual served us wonderful drinks and tried very hard to make our scoody doo's and came close to the real thing without the proper ingredients. Punta Peninsula Varadero: fun in the sun

Nice beach. Excellent staff. Food ok. No adverse reactions to food or water. Reservations hard to complete due to length of time desk was available and lineups. Bring your own toilet paper and small packs of kleenex to carry with you.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Pleased with the resort

We were very pleased with the resort. The grounds were clean and the pool and pool area were extremely clean. Rooms are basic (Holiday Inn type) but kept very clean. On the first night, we were on the first floor and had problems with ants. That is not surprising given that we are on a tropical island but we asked for a room on the second floor and it was not a problem. Next visit, I would request a room on the second floor or higher. Since we were in the plus side, we had access to the A la carte restaurants and the lobster dinner. The Italian and Spanish were good but I would not bother with the lobster dinner again. I would probably eat at the buffet more often and skip some of the restaurants. Service was excellent everywhere and drinks were quite good. VIP lounge is excellent. Beach and water was great. You do have to get up early to get a shaded spot on the beach and it was needed given the hot weather while we were there. Would return to the Blau again and would recommend it.

Blau Varadero: Beautiful Resort

We stayed in this resort mid March 2015. This is a beautiful resort, the grounds and the beach are stunning. The food and service were great. The room was simple but very clean and the beds were comfortable. Would recommend this resort to my friends.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Disappointing

Walked on beach twice and now home on antibiotics due to sand flies. No stopper for sink/ tub so mosquitoes kept getting in. Patio door did not lock (we were on ground level). Public bathrooms disgusting and if you go off resort, no toilet paper and most likely no toilet seats. People stand outside with 3 squares toilet paper to offer in exchange for a tip. Bedding old with holes. Appears blankets and drapes never cleaned, noticeable stains. Don't get the burger/fries at "the shack", raw meat al [... read more]ong with 15 hard, old French fries. Omlettes and pizza good. A la Cartes good.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: somewhat disappointing

overall, this resort was disappointing...it started on arrival, with 2 busloads of people and only 2 staff working check in...1.5 hrs later we had our room at 1 am...the rooms were old, but comfortable, public toilets were small, run down, dirty and sometimes without toilet seats. The food was good for Cuba, the beach was beautiful, but lots of rocks in the water...entertainment was outstanding...loved the live bands...but the biggest disappointment was the staff...no eye contact, rarely smiled, [... read more] appeared to be bothered when you asked them anything, esp at the a la cartes...they seemed very busy, not enough staff, and they took it out on the guests;instead of laying the plate of food in front of my friend, they hurriedly dropped the plate to the side and rushed off...we just felt "in the way"

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Fantastic Vacation!

The grounds were beautiful, the beach exceptional. The rooms were well sized, but very basic. The food in the buffet restaurants was ok, unless you waited in line for the omelettes at breakfast or pasta at dinner-these were well worth the wait. Majority of the staff were super friendly and really accommodating. It was an excellent resort for families.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great vacation spot!!!

I will start with room. We upgrade to the plus side and was extremely happy with room. I was very happy to see a full size walk in shower that was spotless!! Beds were comfortable, fridge stocked daily, room extremely clean and nice size balcony. We had plenty of choices for eating, swimming and activities. Upgrading allowed us the private pool which had plenty of space. Lots of chairs, never had to worry about getting a pool side lounge chair. We had two large buffet restaurants or you could ma [... read more]ke reservations for one of many al carts. We never experienced long line ups either at the buffets or bars. I was worried about this because our vacation was over the march break. No need to worry. To sum it up, great vacation! Food was good, always a choice, no long line ups, friendly staff, pool areas great, room fantastic and I will go back. Sorry no comment on the beach I prefer pools.. Did enjoy walking shore nightly but swimming not so much, very rocky.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: If you like clean towels, then don't go here!

Beaches and water are great, nice and quiet at the east end of the beach. Food and drinks were not good. Stick to the canned beverages which are OK. Mixed drinks were very small and seemed a bit weak. This is a very long resort so lots of walking. Almost impossible to get reservations to restaurants after waiting about an hour in line with only 10 people in it. Need I go on? Bring as much of your own food and drinks as you can then just enjoy the beach with your music, books, magazines, videogam [... read more]es, etc. Trips off the resort are very expensive especially after losing 1/3 of your money by exchanging to pesos. Some visitors could not even get towels for their rooms, let alone clean ones, while we were there. Watch out for mosquito/bug bites at night on your legs and bring plenty of sun screen! Buy your alcohol/cigars at the airport when you leave! Way cheaper than in Havana.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Love the area

We were there March 19-26 2015, this was our third trip to Cuba and this is the first time I've felt like I'd go back - not only to the area but to the resort itself. Previously we were at the Husa Cayo Santa Maria in April of 2013 and Paradisus Princessa Del Mar in Varadero in April of 2014. Now we just love the Holguin area. It has both a beautiful countryside and a relaxing city life. The beach at our resort was rocky but we knew that going in and as a result had something interesting to look at while snorkeling. Our only disappointment was the a la cartes. We were on a 'plus package' which included access to another pool and VIP bar and more a la cartes including a 'lobster dinner'. This turned out to be a fish stew served at the second buffet. Not at all a typical a la carte experience. If we had known, we would have opted to have one of the other a la cartes that were supposedly booked up. Maybe these could be booked ahead of time in order to avoid this problem. As I said though, this was the only disappointment, overall a good bang for the buck.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Vacation

Central area of hotel was good, added blocks of rooms seemed a bit far, we were in the main part of the hotel. Room was dated but clean. We were a couple, so we didn't have a problem finding chairs at the beach. The staff in the hotel, everywhere, was exceptional, very personable and accommodating. Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing time!!!

Hotel Colonial is the oldest resort on Cayo Coco with beautiful Spanish buildings and grounds. Walking around the resort you feel that you are really in a different place. We booked an kceanvkew room and stayed in bloom 1600. This as truly and oceanview room with the amazing large pool on the other side of the building. The beach and water is out of this world gorgeous. They had p!entry of shade and lounges on the beach which was great as the weather was very hot all week...no complaints here. : [... read more]). This is the we one time that we have stayed at this resort. We noticed from three years ago that they are really starting to fix it up. This year the hotel was full so we did have to wait awhile for a for at the buffets. I would recommend opening other stations and keeping both buffet restaurants open for dinner during busy times. We had wonderful week at Hotel Colonial!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: absalutley beautiful resort

the resort was beautiful, and the entire staff was there to see your stay was the best it could be,willing to take the time to address all your needs and concerns.the food ranged from a large variaty of everything ,always offering something differant every day, and it seemed there was something for everyone. the food staff were always there to insure you had everything you needeed, and you didnt have to wait to have your drinks refilled or other needs met. My wife has a disability with her legs  [... read more]and back ,and cant always get around good, the staff seen this on our first day and was always willing to transport her around the resort without even asking. when they seen her they would come right up to offer there assistance. Overall all a beautiful trip, and id love to return next winter with my entire family

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Would not recommend this resort

The room was damp and mouldy.no bedsheet on the bed for 2 days even after numerous request took 2 days to get a bar of soap The sand fleas were extremely bad we were eaten alive.to the point where the bites were so bad my wife's legs became infected. The service at the bar very bad you were totally ignored unless you wanted to tip for every drink. Definitely would not return Or recommend. enjoyed cuba but not this resort

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Nice resort but infested with mosquitoes

The resort is pretty and has nice amenities good location beautiful beaches and perfect weather but the bugs will carry you away. The pool and the grounds around the pool were not kept up very well either. Most of the staff were great but a few were very unpleasant. Clean pool towels everyday seemed to be a problem foreople too. Our grandchildren came home covered in bites even after requesting the rooms be sprayed. Sheets should be changed daily too but weren't . Not sure we would go back.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Resort was ok; food, drinks, beach and weather : )

The Blau Marina needs some TLC. The resort and grounds were just ok. There were tons of mosquitoes and towels for the beach arrived on day 3. The weather was hot with a nice breeze. The drinks were great and the wait times were decent. The beach bar mojito's were the best and the coffee at the main lobby bar was super! The beach was beautiful! The staff were not as friendly as we are used to. There were lots of food choices and the Italian restaurants was the best. I would not go back to this resort because of the mosquitoes and lack of upgrades to the facility/friendliness. I was disappointed no one from HR checked in as most resorts we have visited are interested in customer satisfaction. We did one day trip to Havana, don't use the beach recommended guide! It is all what you make it and our group of 11 enjoyed our time! : )

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing vacation!

Quite, great and friendly staff service and surprisingly very good food. If one closes his/her eyes to the usual Cuban issues (towels, hot water, soap) Blau Marina - CAYO LIBERTAD is one of the most amazing places and experiences. It is placed at the end of the peninsula where sunset in and sunrise can be experienced in a unique way. The water, the beach are also fabulous.
