Brisas Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort shortage y

The ground s were beautiful and well maintained Everything was kept very clean. The main dining room was large and well kept. There were other dining rooms and they were very nice. The food was not the greatest, but there was enough to choose from. There were times when some things were not available. Understandable because of energy shortages.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Great resort

The hotel was well kept and clean,the staff were very friendly helpful,and hardworking, we had no complaints about the food it was good.fresh juice every morning, omelettes, bacon,bread, no shortages.

Playa Costa Verde: Fantastic resort

Went on this trip based on reviews only . We were not disappointed. Loved it and will definitely return for two weeks next time . Rooms a little dated but clean and spacious. Pool and beach were beautiful .

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Simple solutions

We enjoyed our stay. The variety of food was always available. Staff friendliness from waiters, to kitchen and cleaning staff along with the gardeners and delivery personnel was always evident. We found that signage was missing as far as the hours of the big buffet, no pamphlet to indicate the ground plans of the resort. It was difficult to find the schedule for nightly entertainment. Our room was wonderful with an ocean view. We did encounter a few issues and staff came right away to fix it. Having a tag in the room saying: "Do not disturb" or "Please Clean" would be a great asset. Their was issues with currency as to what was accepted which is American money or credit card. Pools were beautifully kept and grounds as well. We'd recommend this resort to others but simple solutions would improve this place greatly.

What a great hotel. It was an excellent experience from the very beginning. The instructions given by trip Central made things so much easier to prepare, and to take this trip. The rooms are so clean. Everything works and every day the rooms are made up perfect. The entire hotel is so clean And the pool areas are well kept it was a great experience. I hope that they will be able to get a little more variety in their food, but the service was excellent.

The hotel and grounds are very old and the old main hotel and grounds along with barracks and the bungalow section and pools and restaurants and grounds are all unkept and closed completely Only the Villas and Bennymore snack bar kids club/pool and the main lobby near the main Guardalavaca beach are open. The grounds are being fixed up a bit daily ( removal of damaged limbs and weeds etc) the staff are almost all absolutely amazing people friendly and helpful as they can be. The shortages ar [... read more]e widespread from wine to water to even a week without even rum Some days no eggs more often no bananas or any abundance of anything most dishes appeared to be same for most meals ( I am unsure if they even were fresh) the bennysmore was to be available to those who booked Villa for breakfast and lunch as well as aka carte however they had nothing to serve The catamaran bonus was non existent as well No wine or rum for tasting A complete waste to pay extra to book Villa sunwing special as there was absolutely no perks… There was no juice or pop for mix most days and tho I brought from home even the co2 water was not working and no water to make juice either no buns for burgers at the snack bar no cheese most days either or ham… It was windy and cold most days including rain except Monday Everything was disappointing except the staff There was prostitution visable daily The tienda resort store was almost also complete empty as was the tienda shops along the boulevard and across the way. The entertainment schedule was not followed as the sineage showed nor the advertisement on fb group from the week before Very limited 20min here or there maybe an hour later at a different location hard to track down when and where The pools were always dirty or red flag often and pool bar was almost always also closed no signage to say open time either No signage to even alert you to where the buffet was ( accidentally found it on day 2/3) it also had short open door service (2 hour window I believe so when you went for an excursion you often missed any opportunity to go for a meal It usually ran out or had nothing suitable to eat even no butter for the bread quite often very small bowls or plates of jello deserts like cake or ice cream Bars often had no alcohol or mix or even ice no one was ever seen at the public relations desk to ask anything of and the internet was almost always impossible to connect anywhere Apparently the sale of the old section most of the beach and grounds along with the pool snack kids section and Bennysmore and beach bar is happening and talk of changes possible both good/bad is heavy on the minds of staff as well as the repeat guests The location is superb with easily able to access the local surroundings and market etc I truly hope the shortages get resolved for the tourism industry is voicing leaving Cuba behind due to prices being so high and yet so little quality or quantity of everything available. My recommendation below is in respect to the staff and not the current situation of shortages. I recommend tourism is repaired quickly to keep people visiting!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Lovely resort

Our family went to Cuba February 2 to February 9 2024. Ages 55 to 63. Everyone in our party said they would go back. The resort is immaculate. The Cuban people were very accommodating. The bus ride to the resort from the airport is 2 hours. I always enjoy a long ride as you see the country side. The special coffee's were delicious. The beach and pools had plenty of seating both areas were really nice. The only thing I personally had trouble with was the walkways to the beach. My first day there, [... read more] I tripped and fell off the walkway. I thought I sprained my ankle but it unfortunately turned out to be a fracture. I was able to get a tensor and Ramon our butler brought in a wheelchair from his home for me to use. We were all much more contentious of trip hazards after my incident. We never went hungry. I cannot honestly rate the food as I was in my room for 4 days. If they do not have it, they cannot serve it. The other family members thought the food was fine.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

We were at this resort on Feb 5th for a week.Excellent resort.Huge size rooms and wasrooms with forest rain showers and jacuzzi. For dinning we were served lobster for couple of days.Bars and pools were Amazing.Beautiful Beach.Highly recommended resort.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: A very nice resort

It's a new hotel, clean and elegant Everything is close by, no matter where your room is The restaurant is very spacious and the buffet is placed in the center, very convenient for everyone. Grand Memories Holguin: Very Surprised

The grounds and hotel are new and in a great shape. The hotel and rooms were really clean and up to a standard. Normally, I don't write reviews, but I'm compelled to write this one. Having been to Cuba more than a dozen times, I was surprised by the shortage of food. We all don't go to Cuba for their gourmet meals, but beautiful beaches, facilities and people. This time, the shortage of food in this hotel was beyond tolerance. I went with my friend and two 5 yr olds. There was no milk, eg [... read more]gs, real juice, fruit...just stuff made of powder. The only fruit all week was unripened pineapple. The rice and pasta were stale and I struggled to get the meals for kids. There were no condiments like vinegar, oil, olives, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. that one would find at a buffet. All that was available was salt and sugar, all week. We had eggs for breakfast only one day and when fries arrived, mid-week, one afternoon at the 24 hr. snack bar, people swarmed like bees to get them. Line ups for food/meals at any time at the buffet were huge, with chefs/cooks using only one cooking surface making food for one person at a time (manager told them so). The wait was at least 20 min per person. It was bad. I wasn't expecting the world, this is Cuba after all; but this was beyond tolerance. The only dinner that was good was at the Japanese a la carte restaurant. Beach bar bartenders, Julian and Mirena were amazing and made do with little drinks that were available. Once we arrived, we discovered the 'Sanctuary Section' of the hotel for adults. Ridiculous! They were able to eat at the 'common buffet' and those who purchased regular packages were not allowed to 'their section' (couldn't even get that package with two little ones). For the rooms; get ready to get a 1L of water for 4 people and that's it. Nothing else gets filled in the mini fridge...unless you track down the water/juice boy and pay him at least $5USD/day to give you 2 little juice boxes. It was bad...and I didn't expect much. Who would, knowing how poor the Cubans are. Perhaps, the reason is that the resort is called Grand Memories Holguin, leading one to believe that's it's in Holguin the city. It's not, it's 120km away from the Holguin airport and very isolated, with rare supply/deliveries to the hotel. The name is because of the reference to the province of Holguin. I give this hotel 2* because of the nice grounds/clean rooms, that's all. As far as the beach goes, you can swim in about 3 meters into the water, hoping not to scrape, brake or injure your feet on large shells/stones/sea grass that are countless. If you dare to go to Cuba post covid, make sure you go to a resort hub like Guardavalaca, or a big city full of resorts where they get easier and regular supply of food. Do not go far from the very populated/resort area like I did ( I didn't do my research) long long bus ride at $4-6 CDN for 1L of gas....no supply, you'll be hungry and come back home at least 5 lbs lighter. This is so sad to write about a country I used to visit so often and enjoyed every time before. I think I'm done with Cuba for the next long while. I forgot to add that most waiters/bartenders at the lobby bar and pools won't even notice you unless you have money on you or you're waiving USDs before you order; not after.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Beautiful resort

From reception to departure, we were well looked after. Everyone was friendly and helpful. You felt safe there. The beach was clean and safe. The pool and grounds were clean and safe. Lots of activities to participate in. Very welcoming environment. The food was beautifully prepared, no shortage. Lots of variety. A beautiful location for a relaxing holiday!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: 2 star resort at best

Was told the main pool would be open before my date of arrival and did not open until the day I was leaving. Other pool was jam packed and no where's near enough chairs for even a quarter of the guests. One bartender more often than not. A la carts were pathetic. Service was slower than ever. No programs or activities for guests at all. No eggs for half my stay. Pop was either flat or way too syrupy. Vegetables and fruit were pretty much nonexistent. Bacon 1 day and gone in 20 minutes. S [... read more]ame with hamburgers at the snack bar. Wifi was hit and miss the whole time. Had to reup time every day. I paid extra when booking to make sure I was in club section only to be put in rundown old and noisy hotel section anyways. Then charger an extra $16.50 USD per night to upgrade to club section. Had the same problems last time I was there hoping it was better now but now it's even worse. Will not go to this resort again.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not Much to complain about! Good resort

Stayed at this resort as it was a nice looking resort at a great deal with great reviews. Not much to complain about! Went in the first week of February and after the first few days the resort was in full swing almost at maximum capacity and they did not have any Food: Had most everything you could ask for. First few days of our stay were scarce (Feb1st-3rd) with no eggs, french fries, and limited selection at the snack bar. After the 3rd they had everything in with a large snack bar menu [... read more] and tasty buffet selection (although it was repeatative) Club restaurant had good food as did the buffet with the a la cartes i found to be a bit underwhelming. Beach: Absolutely stunning beach. White soft sand and gorgeous views. Beach bar was great and they had lots of styles of boats to use. Only issue with beach is there are areas in the water that are rocky. I dont mean small rocks but actual rock formations under the sand. However once you find the sweet spot there is a large area with no rocks to step on. Resort: The resort itself was the only mixed bag for me. It is an older resort but that does not really hinder the quality it offers. It felt like a small resort that wanted to be big. The layout of the resort itself was much too spread out for the size of it. Although i did really like the main portion by the lobby as everything is close by. They also did their best to make sure the place was freshly up kept (People painting and touching up sun faded paint, gardeners working hard to keep grounds beautiful). Not enough chairs by the pools. Wi-Fi Worked very well. Service: Probably the highlight of the resort is the service quality by all of the staff. All staff were super friendly and prompt. No waiting at the bar for 5 minutes unnoticed or going too far into your meal without a refill. Not much to do in the area besides walk to the pesquero market (which had lots of the stores closed) or take a bus ride that costs 5USD (pay with usd or credit card) to the nearest town in guardalavaca which there also is not too much to do. Overall a decent hotel however not worth top dollar prices. If you can get a deal it is definitely a great spot to go.

Grand Memories Holguin: Lovely Hotel

Holguin was experiencing some shortages when we first got there but things did get better. Bring your own toilet paper. Staff is wonderful. Beach is beautiful. However our stay was effected negatively by a drunken man who the admin. staff failed to stop from getting on our return bus. As far as they were concerned he had checked out and they no longer needed to be involved. Putting everyone at risk.

Playa Costa Verde: Sweet paradise!!

The hotel is of 27 years old yet it functions like its 10 the staff are over the top in service very clean and well maintained and manicured landscape , the entertainment was very good it was a very festive atmosphere all day and nightly music,food was surprisingly delish my kids and i were content with all the varieties and options ,spectacular beach and pleasant pools .

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Home Away From Home

Hotel Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca should be rated as a 5 star. I was greeted with a smile, hug and cocktail. The staff are amazing and make you at home and always have a smile on their face while working 16-24 hour shifts. There are food shortages in Cuba but what they have is always delicious. I have never walked away hungry. I stayed in a villa and my room was always clean and I received towel art everyday. The beaches were amazing with white sand and crystal clear blue /green water.  [... read more]There was always entertainment throughout the day and every evening. They also have a Cuban festival, Canadian lunch, beach party and a special dinner for returning guests. I have been to this resort 4 times and will be back many more. It feels like home away from home because they all remember you and make you feel like family. I have vacationed to other places but this is the one I will choose for my future sunny destinations. I love this resort and all the wonderful staff.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Loved all of it ??

My experience at the Rio De Oro was amazing! Although there were a few things not available the people and the atmosphere made up for all of it. The grounds at the resort were beautiful, well kept and there was lots of little places to find some tranquility if needed. I can’t express enough how much I enjoyed the staff. They were so friendly an accommodating. I will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you ?
