Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great stay

This vacation was alot Better the only thing i noticed is that we were returning vacation and didn’t receive any perks they talk about, but hopefully when we return next year it will be different. We were also told about the renavations that were done to one side of The resort so we are hoping next year we will have the chance to experience those. The Food was great you never went hungery and there was a wide variety of selections and the derests were So good and we tried many of them. The  [... read more]beach was so nice to walk on with all the sand. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to enjoy everything. Also accessiblity is good for everyone.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: OK resort

The grounds of the resort was well kept. The rooms were dated but clean and the beds comfortable. The staff were friendly and kind. The staff made the resort. Always pleasant and helpful. Food was good at the buffet. The evening entertainment wasn't too my liking.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful holiday!

I will start off by saying we had no expectations. Therefore, we ended up having a great time even-though we did experience the odd bump or two. Some the resort could control and some not so. First we found the resort extremely clean. Staff for the most part was very friendly. We didn’t try the specialty restaurants. We found the buffet good. However, as most resorts it could be a little inconsistent but we enjoyed it. It was odd that we always had to ask for a spoon for our coffee as well a [... read more]s salt and pepper. Drinks for the most part were very inconsistent from the pool to Legends. Legends is the party bar. Entertainment was fine. One thing I was disappointed in was the lack of shade around the pool. Palm trees being trimmed made for a lack of shade. But the most annoying was trying to get a lounger. If you were not at the pool by 5:30 am to snag a chair with shade and preferred spot you were out of luck. With so much space around the pools they easily put out more lounges to accommodate guests. I will end by saying this is a very nice resort. As I started off we had no expectations. Keep in mind it’s not a five star resort! Great value with no bells and whistles. Cheerful midsize resort that’s easy to get around and that’s why we will return same time next year!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not a good experience

The room wasn’t ideal, had to change the room situation. The room wasn’t clean, it was outdated, shower was overflowing, lock on the door was broken. Definitely make sure you get a better room. Food and entertainment was decent.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Amazing Resort

Absolutely loved this resort! The food was so incredible! The rooms were clean and overall so happy with our stay there! The only thing I wish they had more shaded area with umbrellas or gazebos! Got really hot in the sun! The tables near the outdoor bar should have umbrellas or freestanding umbrellas! Especially when it rained. But overall absolutely loved it.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great Resort

We enjoyed the resort! Loved the entertainment, the whole family did. It was a great getaway.. Some of our rooms had a mold smell.. and on last night I noticed that the one room had it on the roof and it was COVERED.. (I did not stay in that room so it was not seen until I went and say down for a while) Aside from the one room.. I would go back! My kids are already talking "mom, next year when we come..." The beach is hit and miss.. it is nice, just the waves can be rough.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort!

Just came back from 10 days at the Iberostar Costa Dorada. This is my 4th time at this resort and we always leave happy. It's a small resort which is exactly what we wanted as my boyfriend has issues getting around. The food is good and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We initially got a room on the 3rd floor and after a few days realized it would be a problem for him. I found the pool a little in need of a good clean this time but otherwise, it was great and we would definitely go again.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Total scam

This resort would struggle to hit 3 star let alone 4.5 You will not be able to recreate a single one of these photos while there. Food was disgusting, not served at safe temperatures, no variation and Al la carte restaurants were marginally better. Watered down generic drinks, worn out moldy beach equipment and the most disgusting dirty room you could imagine … stay away

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great food and staff but resort is starting show it's age

Superior room wasn't up to par, showing it's age. Safe didn't work-promised it would be fixed but I was there for 11 days without (this is normally a $3.00 daily charge which I was not reimbursed for). All inclusive, but mini bar in room had 2 soft drinks and 2 beer which were free but never replaced.

Resort was small with very few servers. All the bars were very busy constantly and almost impossible to get dinner reservations. The food was decent but absolutely no wow factor. The plating was very poorly done not giving it the picture perfect feel. The beach was ridden with garbage and the sand was also packed of it when you look either way from the hotel. It was actually a very rude awakening of how bad it really is.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice hotel

The facility was nice and the staff were great!! The food was “ok” although I did get food poisoning during my visit. That being said, there was about 30% of the guests that week that got sick from the food. The resort did nothing to help with the issue. The pool is nice, cold but nice. The beach directly in front of the resort was beautiful, but to both sides, it was filthy!! Trash everywhere!! And hordes of people who were peddling there souvenirs, and they were quite pushy.

Lifestyle Residence Suites: Avoid this resort at all costs! The staff and service are terrible, and I would never consider returning.

I’ve travelled extensively to various countries and resorts, but Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort stands out as the worst experience I’ve ever had. Upon check-in, guests are given a yellow bracelet, signifying the lowest tier at the resort. For an additional cost, you can upgrade to various memberships, each identified by a different wristband colour. The more you pay, the more access you gain to different areas and amenities throughout the resort. Be prepared to be constantly hassled about [... read more] purchasing a timeshare during your stay. The staff are relentless in their attempts to sell, even going so far as to trap you into attending a three-hour presentation. If anyone offers to drive you to a free round of golf or show you around the grounds, it’s almost certainly a ploy to pitch a timeshare. They even approach guests while they’re eating at the restaurants. When they approached me, I managed to get them to leave me alone by claiming the vacation was a gift and that I was poor, even joking that I get up at 5 a.m. back home to wait in bread lines. They immediately backed off—problem solved! The resort itself is quite large, and while the grounds, food, and weather were decent, the beach was filthy and uninviting. However, the most shocking part of the experience was the staff. Despite the resort employing around 3,000 people, not a single staff member I encountered during my week-long stay made any effort to smile or improve my experience. Many of them appeared arrogant and treated guests with complete disregard. If you’re staying at the Residence Inn section within the resort, your access is incredibly restricted. Though they claim guests have access to 11 restaurants, the reality is very different. You’re limited to two international buffets offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While the menu varies daily, the other nine restaurants are supposedly “reservation only,” yet reservations are perpetually unavailable. Restaurant reservations can only be made between 8 and 9 a.m., but staff repeatedly claimed they were fully booked during that time. I visited a few of the so-called “reservation only” restaurants and managed to talk my way in by claiming I had made a reservation and that my name must have been mistakenly left off the list. During the hour I spent there, the restaurant remained half-empty the entire time. The poor treatment extended beyond the resort. Staff at the airport were rude, and even a visit to a grocery store called Jumbo in Puerto Plata resulted in a hostile interaction with a cashier. The entire area seemed rife with corruption, with everyone—from airport staff to shuttle drivers, security personnel, and resort employees—working together to exploit tourists financially. The alcohol served at the resort is another major disappointment. It is all produced by a single company and tastes absolutely terrible—comparable to drinking paint thinner. I would never return to this resort or Puerto Plata. It was, without a doubt, the worst vacation I’ve ever experienced.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Nice resort

We had a ground room in the Adult only area was very nice, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice and big. This was my second visit to Emotions I found this year was catered to children events and very few adult things to do in the evening. The food was good in the main dining area and lots to choose from. We went to the Italian restaurant which was good although felt rushed.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: It was just ok

The hotel staff, the grounds, the pool, were all nice. The hotel itself is starting to show age. Room was large and in decent shape. Beds are hard. The Wi-fi is horrible!!!! Doesn’t work most of the time. The food was not good. One person in our group got food poisoning, and we heard from several other people who were also at the resort, that they had gotten food poisoning as well. All I can say is that the weather was good, we met some nice people at the resort, and we made the best of it all.

The grounds are meticulously maintained but the buildings and rooms themselves are very tired and in need of some updating. The staff are amazing and so was the food! Plenty of space to spread out on the beach and lots of chairs available as well!

I recently stayed at the resort with my family (adult sons and mother) and we had a great time. The beach and pools were really nice and they host special events through the week, like an outdoor barbecue. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants but found the breakfast buffet light on options. The staff were very nice and accommodating, they really try to help you and ensure you are happy. The entertainment staff worked very hard to get everyone involved. I was really happy working with Trip Central for the first time and my agent Susan Snider was incredible! She made everything super easy and was happy to help me and answer my questions. My sons have names that made booking complicated but Susan ensured we had everything needed to travel easily, it was amazing! Overall we had a really nice trip!

Playabachata Hotel: Relaxing vacation

Staff were all friendly and helpful . Rooms need upgrades (dated) as lounge chairs mostly broken, otherwise everything else was great. Food was great and I can’t say enough about the cleanliness that happens at this resort, especially in washrooms. Would go back again

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: A very good choice

The facilities and rooms were Clean. Staff were friendly and responsive to our needs. It was not very crowded. The food at the buffet was good and different options in every meal. It seemed they were preparing the food options wisely.

Great place for families with kids and those looking for a relaxing place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good service. Food was Ok. Close to the beach. Very good swimming pool. Definitely recommend it.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Lifestyle Tropical Resort

Lobby was under construction. No heads up about this. we arrived at night. The make shift lobby was very dark. December 10 and no Christmas decorations at all. Very poorly lit as we checked in. We had 3 guests and the safe in the room which is paid for daily had only one key. building 5. Very sporadic hot water for showering. Patio door handle broken and very difficult to open and close. We requested to be moved to Building 6. Better hot water situation. Safe with code entry easier for the 3 gu [... read more]ests. Requested 3rd patio chair and told not available. Room towel service usually for 2 guest and always needed to ask 3 guests. Sunwing rep not found. at one point guest services said to look around the pool area for him. Room pillows were TERRIBLE. Very lumpy like balls /bunches of cotton. We asked for better pillows which were just as bad. Air conditioning vent in the ceiling gave lots of condensation on the ceiling that then dripped onto the floor that would leave a large puddle of water creating a danger for a slip and fall so a towel had to be left on floor to absorb the water. Buffet food was usually good with good selection. Brazillian Mexican and Blue Lagoon restaurants were very good. Bar service and drinks very good. The beach at the resort is down may steps and /or steep walkways which can be a problem for some guests. The beachfront is not the best with usually rough water no lounge chairs and is a public beach with vendors and some small shops. Not ideal if you are a beach person. All of the entertainment staff by the pools were GREAT. Very engaging and friendly with morning and afternoon games and water aroebics. Our 2 week stay Dec10-24 had LOTS OF RAIN during the evenings leaving very little in places to go during the evening. no disco or meeting places. upon departure our luggage was left in the open temporary lobby which was very humid from all the rain. Shuttle to airport booked for 7pm even though Sunwing departure had been delayed by one hour at this point. we missed out on the Christmas dinner and show by 1hr.which the sunwing rep could have changed the shuttle time. The seats in this lobby were very hare and uncomfortable and the ants or sand fleas were biting. Overall we had a good time DESPITE THE MANY DEFICIENCIES AS MENTIONED ABOVE. Would I return as a guest? I would have to think hard about this.
