Making "memories" at Memories

We travelled here from March 31, 2016 - April 7, 2016 as a group of 6. Where to start: - check in : Received our room information/package at the airport, which was wonderful. Upon arrival at the hotel (after only a 15 min bus ride), we were told our rooms were ready for us. Considering it was only 11am, that was awesome. I had emailed the hotel ahead of our vacation to request a few things.. all of my requests were met. I was already impressed. The staff at the front desk are extremely pleasant  [... read more]and accommodating. - rooms : We were in bungalow 1, room 1415 which had a pool view. Our room was clean, stocked with towels, beach towels, beer, pop and water. A/C worked wonderful. We had fresh towels daily, cute towel art each day, restocked fridge and a clean room. - food : where to begin here... I've been to Cuba 11 times before this trip. I have had mediocre food, and I've had great food (for Cuba standards). This resort had a great selection of fresh grilled fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, pork etc. The buffet had plenty of vegetable items, rice, meats etc. I have zero complaints of food. for those who complain, I'm really not sure why. The a la carte restaurants were great as well. Favourite being the Cuban. The fried fish was amazing! - Entertainment - The staff at this resort go above and beyond to include all ages in activities. The shows are wonderful. Loved the "retro night" and Michael Jackson show. The foam party in the lower pool was so much fun! -Staff - We were impressed with the staff at this resort. They all seem to enjoy their jobs, and work hard to please all of us throughout the day. Always greeting us with a smile : ) - Management - I was extremely impressed with the fact that management was consistently visible on the resort. From checking on restaurants, cleaning up napkins that blew off tables, greeting you in the morning, to getting on our bus as we were leaving to check on our time at Memories. It was a great thing to see. - Pools - the pools were great. A little hard to get shade if you didn't get your towels on a chair early in the morning, but we managed. - Ocean - yes there is coral, however, it is not all over the beach. It is not a problem at all. We did not need, nor bring water shoes. Water was beautiful. Staff are quick to get you beach chairs upon your arrival at the beach. - Bars - Loved having chocolate martinis at the martini bar, banana mamas at the lobby bar, pina coladas at the snack bar, cappuccinos and spanish coffees at the lobby bar. I do recommend that the resort keep and eye on temperatures on the buffets however, a couple times it seemed like the warmers may not have been on. Because I mostly eat freshly grilled items, I didn't have a problem. I wasn't a fan of the pillows here however. I am a bit picky when it comes to my pillows. I will just pack my own next time.(easy fix) This resort exceeded my expectations. I would and will return to this resort. We had a fabulous time, and look forward to a future trip here. Unwinding never felt better

We (wife and I) stayed at Memories Flameco from March 21 to March 31. I would recommend more than a week to anyone. We loved the grounds with beautiful flowers and humming birds everywhere. We asked for kingsize bed, 3rd floor and got it exactly. Our maid Yarvenvie (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) was amazing and took special care of us! Daytime bartender always was a pleasure knowing exactly we wanted 2 coffees every morning and yes worth the walk to get...delicious! The beach is beautiful wi [... read more]th warm white sand and water. We definitely loved the breeze sitting in chairs in the shade. We stayed in pod 5 and short walk to the beach every morning. Always found a chair in the shade. We loved the wait staff coming up and asking us if we required a beverage. The evening shows at the theatre are no less than spectacular and well done! The buffet has a wide range of foods for even the picky eater and remember go early when it opens to get the best choices. We sat in the same place during our stay and its nice when you have a wonderful server Desmilie who know exactly what beverage to serve you without even asking, they cater and it feels good to matter! A la carte restaurants are booked for you (they have 3) but we thought same sides and desserts as the buffet but definitely a more intimate atmosphere which was lovely! The snack bar open 24 hours has the best fried chicken and was definitely again nice to see same server knowing exactly what we wanted. The weather was overcast the first 3 days and that was just fine as the sun is hot and pleaes remember to bring and use lots of sunscreen. We seen a fair amount of badly burnt people. There is something for everyone young and old! We have two recommendations, more bottled water required at the resort. It is nice to have one a day in your room and we have no issues buying more at the store located just off the main lobby but the supply was diminished on more than one occasion. The second one is the bank located on the premises. We needed dominations of $1.00 CUC (convertible pesos) to tip your fine staff and found we could not get change on more than one occasion (probably 4 times) and when we did get change we could only get a limited amount. I would ask for 10 ones and could only get like maybe 7 ones and 3 dollar CUC on a good day and the next day no change. Please get more one CUC's available to your guests so we can tip your staff for the wonderful service they provide. We are already planning our return to your resort, keep up the amazing work!

Memories flamenco Cayo Coco

The grounds is picture perfect. Washrooms clean Smells good, the rooms very comfortable.the food at the alacarte needs some improvement. The food at the buffet always good with a great variety of foods

Nice Resort

The resort was nice, but it lacked a few things. The hotel room was clean, but the bed was horrible. It was sucken in and the pillows were flat and hard. The extra blanket provided was probably not washed. It smelled a bit off. The food was satisfactory. In general food in Cuba is not the greatest. I have found that with all resorts I have been to. Just bring your own salt, pepper and ketchup. You'll be fine. I would also avoid any meat, water and ice cubes. The same meat seems to be used for l [... read more]unch and dinner. I ate only vegetables, fruit and rice. I was fine, but my boyfriend got pretty sick. He was eating meat. The beach was beautiful. The only challenge was getting past the rocks to get into the water. Bring water shoes. Regardless, I still really enjoyed the beach. The pools were great. The staff as always are really nice. I would go back, but I would bring the few extras I mentioned above.

A fabulous and welcoming Resort

With a warm welcome, you enter a garden lovers resort. With butterflies and hummingbirds flying amongst the flora as you're walking the tree lined pathways to the garden staff creating fantastic palm leaf souvenirs. The beach is a wanderers paradise. To either side, you could spend hours strolling the waters edge. Snorkeling could be done right in front of the resort with a multitude of beautiful marine life to be viewed. A huge selection of food in the buffet, you should be able to find all sorts to try and to please your appetite. One suggestion would be to bring salt/pepper or other preferred flavour adders. The a la carte restaurants are very good. Make sure you reserve your times as soon as possible or upgrade to Diamond Club and have various times already reserved for you when you land and also the option of breakfast and lunch in the "Florencia" restaurant. Our first Caribbean vacation and we had a wonderful and memorable time and would go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful resort!

Beach was one of the best ones on this strip. Food was best food I've had in Cuba and staff were by far the friendliest and best service I've ever had a resort anywhere. Tip .. Never saw a towel exchange all week .. Bring your own towel When front desk runs out of pesos exchange with bartenders or staff on beach

Overall Great Experience

We had a wonderful family vacation. The rooms do need updating, but the food, beach and service surpassed our expectations. The Kids Club needs to be revamped, but there were lots of other activities for the kids to participate in. We would go back!

Resort was nice, entertainment was amazing! Al a carte restaurants were fantasic! Bartenders were great! Buffet wasn't horrible. Wish there was a disco on site. Beach is very rocky but didn't ruin it for us

Wonderful place, awesome Staff!

Second visit to this beautiful resort. We will be returning. I have traveled many times to Cuba over the years. There is just something special at Memories Flamenco. Can't say enough about the awesome staff from the Diamond club reception area to the beach staff they were all wonderful to us. A special thanks to a very kind repair man that fixed my broken sandal. I enjoy the food selection at this resort the best out of all the resorts that I have been to. Beautiful resort customer service from mgmt needs

The grounds were well kept. It was good value for price. Great resort for families with young children. Mgmt not responsive to my needs when I became ill on the last day food was average. Rooms clean boardwalk was in need of maintenance and the area by the entrance to buffet with putrid odor needs attention. Entertainment was Fantastic. Beach is ok once you figure how to avoid rocks not the best resort but certainly not the worst

Excellent vacation spot

What a great place to spend a vacation! The food was excellent, the rooms were very spacious and clean, and the grounds were beautiful. What stands out the most though,is the staff of the Memories Flamenco Resort. Every single person was quick with a warm greeting and helpful service. Looking forward to returning next year!

Great value for your $

The good: very clean, large rooms, 24 H snack bar, decent a la carte restaurants and nice pool The bad: The beach has a lot of coral rock and it is small with no convenient access to bar or bathroom. All in all I was pleased.

Amazing resort.

The resort was fantastic. The grounds were kept well and there was always someone working on them. I love the flowers that they have and they were blooming while were there. So it was special. The hotel was nice as I remember from the previous visit. We thought the food was better than the last time. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. The dancers were great and put in a lot of work to make it enjoyable by everyone one. The Michael Jackson night was fantastic and the retro night was great.  [... read more]They had kids show before the nightly entertainment which I thought was great since there were quite a few small children. We usually do not travel until April so this was such a treat. The room was cleaned it every day and we had such a nice surprise when we got back to our room she made swans etc. The ocean was cold but we braved and went in a couple of times. The beach is rocky so it is a good idea to bring beach shoes. There was no shortage of beach chairs. We also stayed at pool side which was nice as well. There were plenty of chairs. The pool was also cold but we went in anyway. We are going back to this resort next year. We really had fun. The people of Cuba are the greatest. They are super friendly and would do anything for you.

Just ok Last Memories we will go to

The staff we're very good...grounds clean, enough lighting at night...rooms dated ,some mould in showers. some issues with water off for a few hours, showers would run hot and cold...beach was not bad some rocks getting in and roots in the sand.. the food left much to be desired . to much salt. food quality could have been better. .. missing food signs no idea what your eating...all in all Memories Flamenco not worth the money

First visit,and I was very pleased.

This was the first all inclusive holiday that my husband and I ever took. The grounds were well kept and lovely to walk through. We were very happy with our suite, and absolutely thrilled that we had an ocean view. Our room was close to everything and yet very quiet. There were a few minor problems in our room, but the staff was very helpful and took care of things promptly. We enjoyed the food selection and it was always given with a smiling face. We were very fortunate to be able to see most o [... read more]f the performances in the theater and we enjoyed them all. Hats off to the very hard working enertainers and dance troop. The only downfall was that you would have to arrive early to get a seat. The pool area and the beach were well maintained and clean. I wish the weather would have been better so we could have spent more time in the ocean. Overall we were very pleased with our holiday and would most definelty consider a return visit.

Nice Rrsort.

I like the resort grounds and lay out of the property. The beach was nice, a little rocky but still good, beach is long so you could go for long walks. I found the food good and I found the staff amazing. Never had great staff like at this resort. Always joking with you and giving you good service.

So So Resort

I didn't really care for my stay at memories flamenco , The rooms were very clean but the grounds were not maintained like a 4.5 star resort should be. The water in the pool was very cold. The resort staff was plesant and the beaches here were absolutely beautiful. I also didn't particular enjoy the food so much .

Not much to complain about

For Cuban standards this hotel was great ..yes sometimes all amenities are not available but hey are we born with a golden spoon?Food was good room was excellent the beach was a little rocky but 2 minutes on each side you get a beautiful beach.Enjoy the staff the Cuban people they were all wonderfull Thanks for the great holiday Memories flamenco

Pretty good but not awesome

This resort appears nice initially and really isn't bad but don't expect a 4 or 5 star. Clean standards are less than ours in Canada for sure, and I did expect that to be the case when going to Cuba. It was hard to find a clean dinner plate at the buffet and food was not always even warm. The rooms are musty but pretty nice.. Again for Cuba standards. Maybe 1 out of every 8 employees were nice and happy to serve you a drink. Otherwise they were cold, even when tipping. The beach is beautiful so  [... read more]spend your time there.

All that I expected! Wonderful holiday!

The resort was beautiful. The gardeners do a great job. Housekeeping was fantastic. The maintenance crew could keep things fixed a little bit better. All the servers were fast and friendly and I can't say enough about the pool crew. They were always trying their hardest to find us a chair. My biggest complaint and really the only one that I cared about was the young woman in the gift shop. Very moody and unaccommodating. She actually got angry with me because her visa machine wasn't working and  [... read more]I didn't have enough pesos. You would think she would post a sign or tell me the machine wasn't working before she rung up the sale. Then I asked her to put the stuff away until the next day- she didn't. She should not be working in the store. Otherwise, we just loved everything about the resort and we're definitely going back!!!
