Great place/beach/rooms/people

Positives far out way any negatives, best find was the beach bar bbq at lunch daily. Only negative we found were the lines at the buffet were to long and it was crowded at times. Pool bars were fun and always lots of chairs.

Awesome Resort

From check in to check out, everyone/everything was great, the room was clean, the food was better than I expected, the a la cartes were delicious. The staff were attentive. We looked forward to the coffee cart each night. The beach was beautiful. It was an excellent vacation.

Spacious Resort

Clean, very friendly & decorated lovely resort. Buffet was PACKED & long line ups but the food was delicious & never went hungry!! The beach was the best part...of course!!! Clean, crystal clear & long!!

Terrific value!

Newer property...opened in late 2014. Still in very good condition. Staff are courteous and seem to have things together in terms of operating a resort. The beach is STELLAR...clean, lots of white sand, swimming is excellent. Brand-new kayaks, pedal boats, hobie-cats (staff take you out for rides on those). Water is typically calm, at least the end of March/early April when we were there. No beach beggars or vendors, either! Food was plentiful although not the variety some might expect elsewhere [... read more]...if you're a picky eater you'll probably survive on pizza/pasta/burgers. Bar was OK, not a lot of 'top shelf' booze and the beer was limited to the Cuban draft 'Cristal' but it was ice-cold and tasted fine. Coffee bar was great to go to in the morning for a Spanish coffee (wide variety of coffee). Staff not at all focused on tips, very grateful to receive them but not standing there with their hands out or lingering hoping you'll tip. Gym was smallish but newer equipment made up for that. American channels on the TVs in room. Nightly entertainment was decent. Pretty quiet place by 11 pm but you can go into 'town' to party until 2 am if you like. Rooms were good, beds might be considered a little hard I suppose. I don't think it's worth the extra money for 'ocean view' but that's a personal choice...our room faced into the resort but we spent little time looking anyway. Two big pools, both really decent. This is not a Cancun-style party place. All in all, great vacation and certainly worth the money.

Amazing Beach

We stayed for 10 nights and loved it would recommend to friends and family. Good: Beach is amazing, white sand and turquoise water that seems never ending but does tend to be a tad wavy. Used the free catamaran service provided was told on calm days can see dolphins unfortunately we didn't see any. Food was good limited options in the buffets but we always had lots to eat and the desserts are amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful and grounds were always clean. Make sure to get up early and reserve your chairs as the good spots go quickly 9before 8am on average). Towel exchange is at both pools and generally there by 9am only 1 day we didn't get to exchange. Negative: it is a long ride from the airport but you get to see a lot of country side which can be nice. The line ups in the buffet were terrible!! There needs to be more areas with food so everyone isn't waiting in one small area. Alot of people would reserve chairs by the pool but you wouldn't see them till 1pm, which is frustrating! We tend to be early birds as we want to enjoy the sunshine so the shows were late for us as they didn't start till 10pm and these have to have been the worst shows I have seen in my 5 trips to Cuba, I could be wrong but show more Cuban style dancing we want to see something different than what we can experience at home!!

Too bad...

...the food spoiled it all. It has taken a week home for Cuba to finally leave us. Notwithstanding this issue, the Internet was intermittent at best, late check out charges, while waiting for the bus back to the airport, we're about $15.00 an hour. Don't get a room near the theatre if you want quiet before 11:00. One pool area was disjointed in its layout, awkward and of inferior design. Access to the beach, which is fabulous, should be better displayed. Rooms were never cleaned before 3:00. The [... read more] bus ride from the airport is two hours. Unfortunately, then, the negatives outweigh the positives, largely a pleasant and courteous staff, clean grounds, working air conditioners, hot showers, accessible restaurants.

Good resort, amazing beach

This resort had pretty, modern decor. The food was good; most of the time there was something I liked. The Mexican restaurant was delicious. The beach was amazing and definitely the highlight of the trip.

Amazing staff and resort

The resort was beautiful, the ocean water clear and warm. All the staff at Perla Blanca are super friendly and helpful. The entertainment staff were especially enthusiastic and fun while trying to get everyone involved in the activities. There was always something to do! I would highly recommend this resort.

Will always come back ;)

I am traveler and love to explore new places with my fiance every year. Even though we went to Santa Maria 3 years ago, we loved it and decided to come back to try this new hotel for adults only. My boyfriend kiteboards, I love sun, hot weather and Caribbean beaches so it was a great compromise. Third Time to Perla Blance

3rd time visit to Perla Blanca, and absolutely love this resort. The beach is amazing, and water is fabulous. Tried the Mexican and Italian a la carte's and they were both great. Buffet was good too, lots to choose from Heading back soon. Staff is the best of the all!!!

Amazing Resort

Loved this place, the beach was amazing beautiful white sand, clear blue water, staff treated you like royality. Food was good never any issue, food for everyone's taste, we stayed in Building 28 which was right in the heart of everything, This was one of our best trips ever!!! The only thing to keep in mind is that Samsung phones do not connect to the wifi, they are working on it, also there is a 2 hours bus ride from the airport to the hotel, grab your beer before loading the bus. Amazing trip for 2

The facilities looked amazing. The bars were stocked with amazing drinks and the buffet was good for Cuba standards. I really enjoyed my time there with my girlfriend.OH and the beaches are to die for

Great new resort!

This resort was quite new, and the services and the property certainly reflected it. The resort and the beach was impeccably maintained. The food at the buffet was decent and had an option for everyone. It showed that they put the effort in to vary the diversity of the menu each meal. The dining area was kept clean and the servers were attentive. It was such an amazing experience. I would certainly go back! Just what we were hoping for

We wanted a nice clean room, lots of beach time, to swim in beautiful clear water, take long walks along the beach and good drinks. All expectations were met. Take a couple rolls of loonies for tipping you will be glad you did.

This resort has issues !

This resort has the location/setting potential to be a five star but it is definitely not. I'd give it a 2-2.5 star rating at best. The food was horrible, all dried & chewy. Even the coffee & tea was bad. If you want to lose weight this is the place for you. Every person we spoke to spent at least a day sick in their room. Everyone had diarrhea from the food. We never got a clean towel for 6 days. We couldn't even exchange our beach towels. We had the same bed sheets the whole week. Tiles were a [... read more]ll loose sitting al over on the bottom of the pools, the beach chairs were broken, the walls in the restaurants & hallways were filthy with handprints. Once you used your shampoo & toiletries from the bathroom you didn't get any more. We had no bath mat & the shower ran out all over the floor every day. It was advertised as three buffets. The one was open between 1:00 & 3:00 for lunch, one never opened at all until there was nowhere for any more people to sit & then they only opened it for seating. You would literally stand in line for 20+ minutes to get an omelet or stir fry or pancakes or donuts. We lived on bananas , yogourt , boiled eggs & spaghetti noodles for 5 days. The French & Italian a la carte restaurants were the only good food we had in 8 days. The bars constantly ran out of alcohol & glasses. The staff were miserable except for one meat carver. Most of the staff didn't understand anything you said you wanted or needed help with. It was pretty darn bad. If it wasn't for the gorgeous beach & awesome shower in the room we would have booked an early flight home. We stayed in Cuba in 2008 at a three star resort & it was better than this place. It's really too bad because it has the potential to be a really nice place. I would not recommend this resort.

Nice Resort

hotel and grounds where clean, bed and pillows were rock hard, lacked daily activities (water sports, games) map of resort was not in english and did not show names of restaurants, NO SWIMMING POOLS they are large but narrow and very shallow, nightly entertainment shows were ok, employees at the resort were very nice

Overall a wonderful experience!

Rooms are beautiful, beaches are stunning, entertainment staff is amazing, pools are so-so, food was very good and plentiful! Our indulge package provided a butler who was always there for whatever we needed. We had an amazing trip to the Valentin Perla Blanca March 2-9, 2015! Thanks to Diane McLelland at Trip Central for all of the assistance in booking, and to Air Canada Vacations for a superb trip!

Fabulous resort

Just retuned on March 3rd. Stayed 7 nights in building 25. Great area. Close to beach, pool and 24hr snack bar. As soon as you arrive the view from lobby is spectacular. Rooms were modern king bed and rain shower was nice. We stayed on ground floor. Very private. Food best we have had in cayo Santa Maria. We've stayed at eurostar and star fish in past year. We had the lobster lunch at beach for 20 cuc. It's worth the $. Lobby has great views don't miss the guitarist playing Beatles and Eric Clap [... read more]ton. Entertainment crew amazing. Miss you Janie. She is the lead entertainer and Alex and Dylan will never forget you!! Only complaint is beach paths are not well marked. We hope to come back again

Love the People

The staff treated us great. Food was disappointing. Room had someone's underwear in drawer. Sheet's were dirty. Enjoyed the entertainment. Beach and pool was fantastic. The major thing that was lacking was fruit and vegetables.

Beautiful but too large!

the resort is very nice, welcoming and pretty. However very large, lots of people and the staff seemed to have a hard time keeping up on things. I am very understanding and forgiving and get that things happen, supplies run out, etc...but for days on end to be out of important things is inexcusable. For example, we arrive on a Sunday the resort was completely out of white wine until Thursday! Neither of the two snack bars had french fries until Friday! And there was a day that the entire resort  [... read more]was out of bread- like all bread, buns, toasts, etc!!! One large buffet available for breakfast and dinner and they didn't even open half of it! One morning I waited in line to get an omelet for about 30 mins!!! These are not small mishaps that easily overlooked. Now they have probably the most beautiful beach area i've ever seen and two giant pools. Tho you have have to get up at dawn to get a chair! Rooms are nice and clean but the comfort of the bed could definitely use some improvement.
