Good Vacation!

Pools and Room was great. Food was ok. Beach is a fail. Too many rocks, and there was a stink smell in the air (sewer, swamp?). Didn't stock the room with water or beers (we really just wanted water) until we complained twice. They ran out of beach towels a few times so we had none. I had arranged for a cake for my kids birthday a week before leaving and was told yes they would be happy to provide a cake (I was willing to pay $). Btw, $5.00 to visit the market is a rip off they're just taking you to a souvenir shop. The hotel souvenir market was better and cheaper. The pool entertainers will pay no attention to you unless you're female and you're young. Many of the kids wanted the balls to play volleyball but it seems they would only lend the balls if the young ladies were involved, and only wanted to do activities where they could get close to the young ladies. Many of the people we met there had the same comments. We spent most of our time in the pool, and had fun despite all of the issues.

Very nice resort

The service was amazing, staff very friendly and attentive. The resort is large but well laid out. Lots of shade and seating. All restaurants air conditioned very nice to get out of the heat. Buffet was ok.. It's about quantity not quality Go to the grill stations if you don't mind the wait they are better. Alacartes were ok, the Japanese one was by far the best. The beach was rocky bring water shoes great for snorkeling. Overall nice stay, would recommend!

Coin Operated

Stayed for 1 week alone. Very clean resort, nice pools, nice rooms. Beach WAY TO FAR from everything. "Coin Operated staff" I found that service tripled after tipping. I shouldn't have to Tip EVERYONE But they all changed body language, facial composure and overall attitude. Staff was nice, BUT like my brother and sister once tipped Food: for Cuba, the food was ok. Mini Bar - Water was regularly added. But all other soft drinks were unavailable. Overall for the price a decent resort.

Great resort

I thought the hotel was great!!! The staff were really approachable and willing to help you!! I liked the beach being nice and close to the hotel I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends Looking forward to going back to Cuba

Lovely resort

This a lovely resort. It is very clean from the rooms which were ready for us when we got there. It is fairly new and the gardeners are planting new plants through the resort. The public washrooms are also very clean and lots of toilet paper. The Lobby is kept clean also, cleaning up when people leave their table. The dining area is clean and the food was the best we ever had in Cuba. The omelets were great. The Lamb was great. The Special Restaurants were all excellent , the beef was go [... read more]od and tender. Everything was delicious and I'm a picky eater. Lots of bars and clean. The pools are very clean all of them. The entertainment was good too. The staff is kind and friendly willing to help. If you have mobility problems there are carts that will take you around, there are also lots of sitting areas to rest. I look forward to taking some of my friends back with me next year.

Extraordinary trip

Every personnel were friendly and professional, room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. the only thing which I complained was too many mosquitos but this is the wet season in Cuba. NO doubt about it...Food was great, A La Carte dinner was delicious especially seafood a la carte. Most food were natural without chemical marinated with its own flavor. Good resort and beach

Rooms are clean and nice. Shower is a little claustrophobic but the water was running fine. The grounds are lacking plants. The lobby is very nice. The food was ok but not 5 stars. The personnel was very nice. The beach is rocky but with water shoes is fine. The water was amazing!

Amazing resort for celebration

It was a big surprize. went through on customer reviews and prepared for negatives. Emailed our requests and received response almost immediately. MJDR was the third on our list originally but luckily we made this decision. Extremely friendly staff, wide varieties of good food, gorgeous rooms especially with ocean view on top floor. No issues at all but bring water sues, mosquito spray and a small flashlight. Thanks for everything!

Pretty good

This hotel was good.We enjoyed our stay. The staff were good always willing to help you.Pool areas were lovely .The food was pretty good for Cuba. How ever make sure you lock up ALL valuables we had a bottle of perfume that went missing,so that was upsetting.And bug repellant is a must. Even though we had it we still got hundreds of bites. Jus awesome

Was just awesome ,enjoy our stay ,would definetly recommend this resort , there with a party of 8 ,and be sure to see us back in 2017 . Thanks for making our stay amazing .thanks again , food was awesome the staff great ,the rooms and maids were incredible ,, drinks we soo good lol .

Very nice hotel and clean

Hotel is very new so especially clean. Staff were exceptional. Food is average. Best musical shows in early evening in lobby with great musicians. Service was verry quick for any problems or small repairs. Overall a four.

Amazing resort, lovely staff

It was our first time in Cuba, loved resort and staff. Buffet was excellent. The only negative was Sunwing cancelling our late afternoon return flight and having to leave by 7 a.m. It took a day away from our holiday

Lively Resort

For the 7 days my girlfriend and I stayed at Melia Jardines del Rey we had a great time. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great and the three A la cartes we attended were great. The two pools were never to busy, always had something going on by the pools and swim up bar was awesome. The only part that was not perfect was the beach, which was rocky but if you walked out a bit you would get to a sand bar which was only up to my waist. On Its Way to a 5 Star Rating

Absolutely fantastic vacation! The resort was large and clean, and there was always some sort of entertainment going on. Food was okay, as to be expected for Cuba. There was lots of coral on the beach, but water shoes made this only a minor inconvenience. Only complaint was the service - there seemed to be a shortage of staff to deal with the large volume of guests, and there was often a long wait for table service at the buffet restaurant and bars. With better service I would definitely rate this a five star resort. Even so, this was definitely the best Cuban vacation I have had out of four trips.

Great Resort

We enjoyed 2 weeks at the Melia Jardines del Ray Mar/Apr '16. From the lobby front desk to the restaurants/bars the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was good. The beach was nice to walk. We spent every day at the beach and came prepared with water shoes to walk over the coral. Resort was clean.

Nice resort

Accommodations were modern and very clean. Food was excellent but lineups at buffet grills were slow. The beach was disappointing if you enjoy walking in the water but the pools made up for it. Staff are very friendly.

Terrible food

Hotel was OK for cuba ,not worn out ,no water in the hotel for a while day. Staff was rude ,not friendly at all . people bathjng in the pool because of no water . entertainment was also terrible, last time I go to Cuba :(

Good Value

We enjoyed the resort, though very large, it was well spread out. Staff were great. Very good entertainment in the lobby at night. Only half the buffet was open, which was ridicules for the amount of guests. It made for a very bad dining experience. The Ala cart restaurants were very average, and a little disappointing too. We don't go to Cuba for the food, and we didn't come home hungry.

Perfection.

5* no doubt! An amazing place! Great service, grounds and staff. Food was very good, both variety and quality. Beach is very long, stay to your right, paradise awaits you! I strongly recommend this resort to anyone, we will be returning very soon!

Beautiful pool

Overall this is a beautiful resort ,friendly staff beautiful pools and great drinks. Buffet was very disappointing to say the least. A la Carte restaurants were good all around. Rooms very comfy and kept super clean. Evening entertainment was impressive for Cuba .
