The building was beautiful and the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and mostly a la cart, which is what we prefer. There is small things that we could comment on that could have been better but there will always be little things at every resort or hotel stay. We enjoyed El Dorado and we would go back.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great time in the adults only section
The resort was great, I will start with the small negatives, not enough restaurants! The food in them was great but there was always a wait time and lineups. We ordered room service A LOT, which was amazing but I felt like I didn't get to take advantage of every place. Other small negative was the pool bar closes at 5 and EVERY restaurant closed for a lunch dinner switch break around 3-4 the one day we were starving and couldn't find anywhere to eat, one place should be open at all times. Other [... read more]than that which really isn't a huge deal we had a great time. We were in block 2 which is adults only with an adult only pool right out front with amazing Bali Beds - which we got every time we wanted to hang by the pool. All other pools we avoided because this was a kid friendly hotel everywhere else. The hotel was spotless the maids were amazing and we watched the staff scrub the pool chairs every night. The staff was incredible, always going above and beyond, My Pleasure is their motto!
My amazing travel agent Cassandra Royle (trip central) found us this place which we had never heard of and so happy with it. We want to try Azul Fives another part of their chain or the adults only El Dorado.
The snorkeling off the coast was amazing, well worth the money!
The Italian restaurant was reallllllyyy good, the room service was a real highlight and the Iceberg (draft beer with a margarita on top) was my boyfriends go to drink.
Overall great time and would visit an Azul again!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Gastronomically (and) Awesome Resort
Loved the great selection of à la carte gourmet restaurants. Very well kept rooms and grounds, excellent suite for our family and father, great service, nice entertainment, and despite a the waves being a little high the last few days, really enjoyed the impeccable beach. Will definitely return to this or another Karisma resort!

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Fantastic Resort!
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and the service was amazing until the moment we left. From the porter (Yorsi) who took us by golf cart to our room and showed us around on the way to Ricardo who looked after us in the Sugarcane Restaurant every morning to Luis at the Papaya swim up bar. They exceeded our expectations.
The food was probably the best I have ever had at a Resort. The only disappointment was our reservations for K23 restaurant got lost and they weren't[... read more] able to accommodate us as it was our last night. We heard it was amazing.
The beach was lovely and the pools were very clean.
Did a massage and facial at the spa and those were great too. If you book anything, go an hour early to use the sauna and therapy pools. They aren't much for therapy but fun and included with your treatments.
All in all a great week.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Nice resort
Just came back from El Dorado. Friendly staff, excellent service. Grounds beautifully kept. This is the sister resort to the Sensimar so you can use their beach as well which is good because the El Dorado beach is narrow with coarse sand and rocky, I think because it takes a few years to clean it up.
Food was not as good as I've had at other Mexican resorts. Dinners were better but bbq lunch was dry and terrible like it was cooked in the main kitchen and then reheated. Both hotels share a ma[... read more]in restaurant but ED does not have a breakfast restaurant so you have to walk the 10-12 minutes or wait for the tram. Walking is more reliable. Would prefer to have a closer breakfast restaurant since the race for the beach beds is fierce! But this is probably true of any resort.
Design of El Dorado is such that everyone has an ocean view which everyone desires. Problem is, is that the v shape creates an echo chamber and you can hear the party as long as it goes on. If you bring your ear plugs it's fine.
The spa employees are out on the beach every day several times a day hustling their expensive services.
Pools were too cold to swim in.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Beautiful resort
The new part of the resort is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very nice. The whole resort staff are friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable.
There is really no beach yet on the new side but a very nice, but small, beach on the Santimar side (older side).
The food was amazing! We loved the Italian best.
The activities and night shows were plentiful.
We had amazing weather too.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Fantastic!
Fantastic resort.
Employees couldn't do enough for you, always pleasant and smiling. Very hard working people.
Grounds were beautiful and lush.
Never any lineups for meals, only 2 restaurants required reservations.
No wrist bands required.
I would highly recommend this resort.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Vacation!
I just returned from the Azul Sensatori after spending 7 days there with my husband and 2 daughters.
We stayed in the premium section on the third floor. We found our room to be clean and the housekeeping staff was wonderful. The mini bar was re-stocked every day. The staff is very friendly and they always say "Hola" when greeting you. The staff work tirelessly on the grounds to keep it clean.
We spent most of our days by the pool. We were greeted everyday with a smile by Valentin[... read more]. He was there to answer any questions we had. We were sad that on our last day there, it was his day off so we couldn't thank him properly. Blanca Betina was our server most days and she is such a wonderful person and does such a fine job. Rain or shine, she greets with a smile and was happy to provide us with anything we needed. These two Sensatori employees stood out the most to us. :)
For the most part the food was wonderful.
Spoons is the buffet where we had most breakfasts and a couple of dinners. It's great for a family as everyone can find something they like at a buffet!
We also ate at the Italian restaurant which was very good. We had a couple of dinners and one breakfast at the Caribbean restaurant. I'd like to mention Oscar from this restaurant as he went above and beyond for me when we had breakfast there. I wanted cinnamon and dried cranberries for my oatmeal which they didn't have so he took it upon himself to go to Spoons to get some for me. :)
The Mexican restaurant had undergone some changes the week before we got there. We were able to dine there one night under a reservation. The food was good and the atmosphere was lively. My one complaint would be that the chairs are terribly uncomfortable.
All in all, it was a great time. The premium side of the hotel is definitely less crowded and it's more quiet. The rooms are quite large. The only criticism I can make of the room is that the bathroom is perhaps not as private as one would hope. The bathroom is essentially in the open right after coming through the door from the outside corridor. It's not partitioned off. This isn't not really a problem if you are travelling as a couple or you have small children but if you are travelling with older children or other adults and sharing a room you may not like it. The door separating the toilet from the sinks is just a swinging frosted, glass door that you can't lock. This is the same as the shower door opposite it. So if you step out of the shower you are in the open basically. In my room in particular, there was a mirror placed on the wall in the bathroom and one day we had ordered room service which arrived after I got out of the shower and i moved to the side by the toilet and I realized that the placement of this mirror would mean that anyone at the door could see the reflections in the mirror which was facing the toilet area.
I feel that for the price we paid for the premium room, I would have expected more than one pool butler serving everyone poolside. The number of people poolside did seem to fluctuate day to day but I only recall one pool butler working at any one time.
It is also worth mentioning that there are people that quite obviously were on the premium side that shouldn't have been. People/families that would spend the day there and then pack up and go off to another building at the end of the day. I'm not sure what can be done to stop this but it's not really fair to those of us that have paid the extra fees associated with the premium building only to see that others that didn't pay are enjoying those amenities.
The staff truly do make the hotel what it is! :) I hope this review helps someone in some way!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives
Overall, a very nice, clean and relatively quiet hotel. The meals at each of the restaurants were amazing and the staff were very nice and courteous. However, on the negative side, we were not able to check into our room until after 3 PM - since we had been up since 3 AM, we were a bit irritated to have to wait around as we had arrived at noon. (Maybe pack a change of clothes that is easily accessible beforehand?) Also, since we were arriving on Dec 31, I specifically didn`t want to get stuc[... read more]k eating at the buffet and had called our agent and contact for the resort to see if I could make reservations ahead of time. We were told that none of the restaurants took reservations and that the buffet was only for dinner. However, once at the resort, we eventually found out that ALL restaurants REQUIRE reservations and since everything was booked, we ended up eating at the buffet. Also, 3 different people all gave us different information about which restaurants needed reservations and how to go about it. We found this to be a common theme that the staff never seemed to be on the same page.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Absolutely beautiful!
My husband and I just got back from our 4 day little getaway and we had a great time! New years party was awesome which was a nice touch. Restaurants were great, minus us both getting sick our last night- we ate a burger at the outdoor bbq and it did not sit well. Our room was spectacular!!! 7617----amazing view!!!!!!!!! Only downfall---barely a beach BUT Sensimar has a beautiful beach so we were over on that side most of our stay. We will be returning to this resort hopefully sooner then later![... read more]!!

Hidden beach is a nice little resort! and advertises that it's not a lifestyle resort! But it is, it's just hidden!! Swingers are in full swing looking for action. Probably won't go back, not because of that but of the fact the beach isn't great , and it's so small

El Dorado Royale: Meals a royal pain!
Though the hotel and food were very good, meals were poorly managed during a peak time when hotel was full. All meals were a la carte, no buffet option. We arrived and were told all the reservations were booked including New Years! The whole reason for our trip! We ended up waiting for a table at every meal. Up to 2 hours! When we complained, management gave us reservations for New Years but when we arrived we were turned away with the restaurant saying they don't take reservations. We ended up [... read more]with the main hall making a table for us away from the festivities. What a dissapointment. Won't be back. No way.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great place!
The Azul Fives is an excellent property. It's well maintained, clean and staffed to the max. The food was quite good- especially the Italian Restaurant. The beach is beautiful but rocky out in front. A quick walk one way or the other provides easy access. We were surprised that more guests didn't visit the Skybar later in the day. It's gorgeous at sunset and into the evening.
We found, despite there being many staff, our requests or issues didn't get passed onto the appropriate people and felt [... read more]on occasion that the left hand didn't know what the right had was doing. We were also given mis-information regarding a tour destination that left us frustrated and scrambling to salvage our day.
The most frustrating part of our holiday that could be managed better by the hotel is in dealing with the availability of chairs. Guest would claim chairs first thing in the morning and you wouldn't see anyone all day or at least for hours on end leaving other guests sitting on pool decks and stairs. The hotel needs to develop a system that removes towels and personal belongings that have been left unattended for more than an hour. The is a MUST and look forward to checking back on later reviews to see that this is being addressed.

El Dorado Casitas Royale: Perfect holiday - definitely going back!
We were blown away by El Dorado Casitas Royale. We have never been to the same resort twice, and on the second day we were both saying we had to come back. The food is was the best food we've ever had at a resort (and better than most restaurants back home!), and they were able to cater to my multiple food allergies.
The room was perfect and spacious and the outdoor shower was great! We had a swim up casita, but spent all of our time at the joint pool or the beach. No matter where we wer[... read more]e lounging, the staff always asked how our room was and to let them know if there were any complaints (which we didn't have!). We have never had this type of service or concern for our room from the bartender or beach butler!
We are already planning our return to El Dorado Casitas Royale and have been raving about it to everyone since our return a few days ago.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: Amazing Resort if you have kids
The best resort I have ever experienced. Food was amazing, the rooms were nice, and the service was great. They have a great kids club, which has various activities for kids that are 4 or older. If your child is under 4 you have to stay at the kids club with them or pay $20 a hour for babysitting.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Excellent Resort
We recently visited Azul Sensatori in the Mayan Riviera and it's our 4th time being there as a family.
We love the resort in many ways. The spa is incredible particularly Freddy the Massage Therapist. The pool people are great like Nancy and Fernando at the Beach restaurant are very attentive.
Alex and Jorge are awesome at the spoon and Cindy Abby and Violeta are incredible at the kids club.
You will never find good water or beach there however.
Sadly the Mexican restaurant was clo[... read more]sed due to them fixing it but they still had the food at the beach.
It was sad their Micheal Jackson show wasn't back but they still had some excellent shows.
They were very accomodating and the rooms were perfect.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Perfect destination for young families
We just returned from our week-long stay at Azul Fives. Although the resort was recommended to us by a friend, it is always a gamble when you go somehwere you have never been, and we couldn't have been more impressed. I'd gladly return to this hotel anytime and I'll break down my opinion into sections:
1. Room
We reserved a one bedroom pool view jacuzzi suite for ourselves and our 18-month old son. The room was huge and gorgeously kept. There was an enormous full kitchen and dining room along [... read more]with a large sectional couch. There were two bathrooms (one powder room and one full bathroom), and the bedroom and jacuzzi area could be closed off by sliding doors. This was the perfect set-up for people travelling with children. In the evening, the kids could sleep in the bedroom section and you still had access to a bathroom and the full kitchen/living area without disturbing them. We were on the ground floor which was amazing because we had the pool right outside our doors along with a personal patio and set of lounge chairs. The doors to the patio locked so I was never concerned about pool safety with a young child. Although the resort was busy, we never felt crouded and the way the villas were set up, you get a lot of privacy from the other guests which is nice. If you want to be around a lot of people, then you just have a short walk to the ocean and large pool by the beach. One thing to mention is that we were in Villa 2, which i believe is in the older part of the resort (although everything is fairly new anyway). There are new villas 15,16 and 17 which are brand new and furthest from the beach. They look very nice and have their own pools but they do seem more crouded and have less space/trees/privacy. If you want quiet and privacy I would try to book in Villas 1 to 8
2. Dining
All the food at this resort was great. No stomach issues whatsoever. My opinion is somewhat limited because we did dine early and at the child friendly restaurants. The room service was fast and good for breakfasts. Flavours and La Brasserie were great buffet options for speed adn variety. The ocean-side grill by the pool was excellent and the cevice and fish tacos were amazing. Meso Tapas was also excellent. There is a mexican restaurant by the newer villas that was also awesome with great atmosphere. I would suggest using your personal concierge every day to book your dinner reservation. We didn't because we thought we'd just do the buffet, but found that it was confusing to know which restaurants were open each day because there were closures for private events etc.
3. grounds/atmosphere
The lanscaping and pools were always pristine and really added to the feel of the resort. It made walking the resort to get to restaurants/beach very enjoyable. The main plaza was breathtaking with coy ponds, twinkle lights at night, and these amazing bamboo pods that you can sit in/eat in. Gorgeous! One unique feature was a wooden walkway through a jungle with a cenote beside the resort. Really great photography opportunity...lots of lizards, birds, trees. To walk the whole thing is about 15 minutes and it is really a unique experience. At night this area was back lit with green and blue lights and was magical. You also had a view of it from Flavours restaurant through floor-to-cieling windows. Restaurant decor was also on point.
4. staff
Friendly, polite, really enjoyed talking to my young son. Remembered our names days later. Very gracious when tipped. The one thing I noticed about this resort was that there were very few people walking around trying to sell us stuff which I really liked.
5. special accommodation
If you are travelling with a baby...this place has EVERYTHING!!!! We did bring supplies from home but they supplied a crib, bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, baby monitor, high chair and stroller. It was incredible. They were also very accommodating with high-chairs in restaurants and offering special food for the baby (milk, juice etc.)
