Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Fantastic Resort

As a older couple with limited mobility we requested and got a centrally located room making our stay top quality. Great food. Two pools, one for the "party people" and the other a lovely quiet pool. Both with swim up bars and round pool waitress service. Room was lovely and the staff were friendly and efficient. Overall a great holiday.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Meh..

This hotel left a lot to be desired. Unlike a lot of all-inclusive resorts, I found this one needing so much more than it offered. The restrictions were insane (can’t swap a beach towel out before noon, no alcohol before 10, only two hour timespan that beach volleyball was allowed, etc…) which was quite irritating. The food was not great at all except in the Mexican and Italian restaurants - which are impossible to get into because the resorts holds more people that it can host. Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Love the Catalonia in Punta Cana

The hotel is very nice. It’s clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach is perfect. The water is calm and seaweed is cleaned daily. The food is decent and there’s lots of variety. The only downfall is there are not designated smoking areas so people walk around freely and smoke on the grounds, on room patios/balconies, around pools, bars and the beach. As a non smoker it’s very disruptive.

Riu Palace Macao: A great stay!

My husband and I stayed for a week at this resort and loved it! The beach was beautiful. The pools were great, and there was an endless assortment of food and drinks. We could not have asked for a better stay! We would highly recommend this hotel!

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Mediocre

Room smelt very bad and there was black mould. Our shower wouldn’t drain and had no hot water (resolved). The water park is a great feature. No reservations for restaurants is absolutely ridiculous. Cookie is cute (the parrot)

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Decent Resort

Average resort. The good parts are that there is alot of things to do....lazy river, splash pad, mini golf, flowrider surf simulator, multiple pools. Rooms are average at best. They are showing some wear and tear and generally not as clean as we would like. Floors were definitely not mopped every day.. hair in the sink.... hair and dust balls in the corners. Biggest complaint would be the food....breakfast and lunch choices were great, but dinner was terrible. Tried all of the a la cartes and we really only thought Grazie was good....the rest were below average... always cold and always overcooked. The reservation system on the app is a disaster. If you could get a reservation sometimes the restaurant would have it...sometimes they would not. I also question the reservation system which would say all the restaurants were booked but we would walk by and half the tables would be empty and we ask if we could get a table and they would say no. Average beach area.....lots of chairs but the water area is not very big. I would sum up this resort as dissappointing.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Nice Resort with a Jelly fish filled swim area, disappointing beach

We booked an Oceanfront Superior room& had to relocate due to a weird sewer smell. Our new room was fine& had great views. Resort is well appointed, nice lobby & great service in all areas. The do require additional servers in the lobby during the evening we would wait for a long time, then eventually go to bar to get our own beverages. The Caribbean Water at this resort is not Blue clear water it is murky brown & full of jellyfish both in water & on the shoreline, due to the nearby river flowi [... read more]ng in, shoreline has a wide deep shelf upon entry, so no swimming here. We had to walk to the end of the far Bay to find a small swimmable area at Corale Beach. No service on Beach, unless in Privilege , but beach bar was close by& provided a good service. Pool is large, loud, but is clean. Lots of loungers to use on the wide beach sitting area. Rooms were clean, shower/bath dated with low water pressure & only lukewarm water throughout the 10 days. Food is very good, in all areas, the inclusive Red& White Wine offered was from Spain, it was poor quality, of any wines offered at an all inclusive. We would not return due to the Beach conditions

The resort was nice overall; great pool, nice beach, tons of beach/pool chairs, nice assortment of food/a la carte restaurants. The only issue is that rooms need updating and the gym needs better layout.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Amazing!

This hotel is just the right size! The grounds are so clean and tidy, ample chairs by the beach, the rooms are clean and well stocked and most importantly the staff… kind, helpful and attentive! Food allergies are top of mind and handled professionally. Chef Apolinar (not sure I spelled it properly) was very attentive and aware of my daughter’s Celiac needs and was always there for us! Can’t thank him enough!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: OK resort

Overall a nice spot, friendly staff. I was in a villa that was very dated, the stool under the desk was rotten as well as the headboard where it touched the floor. The tile floor had quite a few marks in it, bathroom was recently updated and was very nice. Convenient to the golf course directly across the street!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Nice change of place.

After spending many years in Cuba supporting the amazing people with supplies for schools, personal needs and medical supplies it was different to take a vacation for ourselves. We were in Cuba when things shut down earlier in February this year. The experience at Bahia Principe la Romania, from check in to check out, was truly all about us. The food and drinks were wonderful and the staff, from our room attendant to the servers were so tentative. We really felt pampered. El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Good, mid-range resort

The rooms were quite nice, but be aware that requests made in advance (e.g., 2 queen beds instead of a king; swim-up) may not be honoured when you check in. Food was adequate but service was slow. No food/snack options at the beach…a snack cart would be a great addition. The resort does not enforce the no-reserving-chairs or the non-smoking policies. Pool chairs were usually all taken by 7am and beach chairs by 8:30. Overall, the resort seems understaffed

The Resort was beautiful but we found it a tad too big. The carts were easy to get to go to the beach. It was windy all week, so hard to say whether or not it was a good swimming beach as it was very rough all week. The food was great. The reservation system was terrible. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Third visit - lovely resort.

Everything was lovely. A few touches i.e., some food at the buffet was cold… but overall food was really good. The resort provided an area downstairs from main lobby where guests could shower after having checked out of room and spending day on beach - before going to airport. The showers only had cold water and there was no soap in dispenser - it was an unexpected touch and maybe more attention could be given to thinking of checking on these things. We just returned from Dreams La Romana resort and spa (preferred) as a family of 4 with 2 young kids. Positives -nice updated rooms with good storage -public bathrooms were often cleaned -maids did an excellent job tidying/cleaning everyday -easy to get into all the restaurants. Uncovered, so it rained out a few times. No tables. Folding chairs. Dark. Tree roots everywhere so my kids fell a bunch. -Coastal-the Perferred breakfast had huge timing issues. One morning we waited nearly 2 hours for breakfast. 25 mins for someone to bring coffee/water. Another 20 to take our order. Another 50 mins to bring the food (2 fried eggs and smoked salmon , and Dominican breakfast - which were cold when arrived). Then our kids cereal took another 15 mins to come. This was a common occurrence everyday. I would have rather gone to the buffet but my husband wanted to utilize the preferred spaces. -chairs at preferred beach were “reserved-ie towels/items” by 8am. Seating was limited here. Chairs/shade in the regular area seemed short was well. -splash area was totally separate from the rest of the resort. No drink service there. -found a few cockroaches in our room, one of which followed us home in our suitcase, yuck. Honestly an overall great experience but would not come back here. Felt they accepted children but wasn’t as kid centered like the last resort we went to in Nov (iberostar selection suites in Punta cana). Iberostar had its issues but it was cheaper and I loved their covered outdoor entertainment space and their walk up icecream bar. My takeaway is that Dreams is beautiful and classy but best for older kids but that’s just my take having experienced a different type of resort last time which was our first time venturing away from Dreams chain.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great place to chill

Resort was small but accommodating and relaxing. Clean rooms and good food. Staff was friendly and helpful. It’s not a party place so if that’s your vibe you probably won’t enjoy it. They did have entertainment each evening and activities during the day. Great place if you want to relax. Beach was cleaned every morning of debris. Buffet dinner had a theme each evening. Only one bartender per bar so a bit of a wait at times. Overall had a great vacation!

Ocean El Faro: A Beautiful Stay at El Faro Resort in Punta Cana

We had a great stay at El Faro Resort in Punta Cana. The resort itself is beautiful, with well-kept grounds and a relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, which really added to the overall experience. The restaurants were very good overall. The buffet had a huge variety of food, so there was something for everyone — even picky eaters. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian restaurant, which had excellent meals. The Privi [... read more]lege breakfast was also very nice, with the option to enjoy the buffet or order directly from their menu. Mike’s Coffee was always busy, but it was definitely worth the wait. The coffee and treats there were a great way to start the day or take a quick break in the afternoon. The resort is fairly large, so the trolley service was great to have for getting around easily. We also had WiFi all over the resort, which was very convenient. The lazy river was a lot of fun and something we used often during our stay. Another highlight was feeding the fish in the lagoon — that was a really cool experience. The lagoon area itself was great because it was mostly sandy with very few rocks. One part of the beach was a bit rocky, but it was manageable if you had water shoes. The lagoon definitely made up for that. Nexus also offered a free visit to a local store, which was a nice extra and a good opportunity to pick up souvenirs. We chose not to take part in the timeshare presentation, and the staff were respectful and not pushy when we said no. One tip for visitors: don’t go on the second floor of the lighthouse. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend El Faro Resort to anyone visiting Punta Cana.
