Good services and clean very clean rooms. Very beautiful location. The food is ok . I would like to go back . The staff is very good and follow up your request. I have a great time there. I will recommend to my friends.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful place

excellent property. Well layed out site plan. Beach wonderful. Continuous activities, with good entertainment in all lounges. Bistro which is open 24 hours needs to have better service, with more on floor staff. Pool bar was busy but that’s the way it should be. Room was very nice, but toilets do not always completely flush.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Disappointing resort,

The resort was very disappointing. The 24 hour snack bar had a menu but you could only order one or two items on the menu. Most of the other items were not being prepared on that day. The buffet restaurant was very disappointing with regards to hours of operation and the menu never changed from day to day. You could not get the ala carte dinners you wanted as they only had 2 of their 4 restaurant's open on any given day. If you missed your seating time by 5 min. you were denied access. The over  [... read more]all management of the establishment was very bad. The place has been open less than a year yet it looks like it is 20 years old. The so called stocked bar fridge only had 2 beer , 2 sodas and one bottle of water and if you left half a bottle in the fridge they did not leave you another. The amount you pay for elite status is a total waste of money. it seems the more you pay the less you get. Over all I would not recommend this resort to anyone. In fact based on this experience I will not return to Cuba at any time in the future. It is too expensive and way over rated as a resort destination.

Playa Caleta: Lesson Learned

Arrived later in the day, 9pm in actuality. We were in the room within 15 minutes of arrival but we were first off the bus. Nothing we had requested for a room was provided. There was no phone in the room and the toilet didn't flush anything down. There was no one available to do anything we were told so we would have to wait till the morning. The buffet which surprisingly was still open only had cold fish and rice but if we were willing to stay up till 11pm then the snack bar would be open [... read more]. Partially cooked frozen burgers was the only thing on the menu....went to bed hungry. During the entire time there was only one buffet open between the 2 hotels and lunch and dinner menus were the same. All the a la cartes were closed the entire week. There were flies on everything and I do mean everything. There were stray sick cats freely roaming the dining hall and dogs, well I counted 7 that never left the resort. Finally got a decent room, the 3rd attempt halfway through day 2 as the second room had a bug infestation. When I say decent I am being generous as we still didn't have a king size bed but rather separate beds for our 19 anniversary, how romantic it is all turning out to be. One like a rock and one sagging in the middle like a hammock 3 inches difference in height so pushing them togather was out of the question. The lobby bar was open 24 hours a day and if you wanted to get drunk it would take you that long even on double rum and coke the alcohol was so watered down. Actually most everything was watered down except for the beer because it came from a keg. I am talking the alcohol, the milk, the juices, the ketchup and mustard poured like soup. The swimming pools were closed and a slimy green, although they did manage to clean 1 by the fourth day there. The majority of the staff were rude and unhelpful unless you were handing them money before asking a question. Honestly we rented a scooter for our time there and spent most of the time off the resort and in Varadero. Varadero is a fabulous place full of wonderful people and I will go back again and again, just not at this resort.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: wonderful resort experience

I had a great time staying at this resort for the first time! The beach was beautiful, pools very nice, the overall resort was clean and well kept, hotel staff/ workers friendly and helpful. Pepe was a really great hotel entertainer! Nightly theatre shows were also really great! Would come back again.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great first trip to Cuba

Good food, good service, beautiful beach. Hotel grounds could use some TLC, but minor details. Would return but like to try different places. Overall was impressed with this resort and would recommend

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great resort!

Muthu playa was a great resort. It was clean, food was good we never went hungry. Staff were welcoming and great, I became close to a few of them and we're sad to have to say goodbye. Shows were good, Great performances. Sunwing Travel rep was great very informative, he helped us pick our excursioins baced on his experience. He did not disappoint us at all. Melia Las Americas: Loved this resort!

I have been to many resorts in Varadero including the 5 star Royalton Hicacos. Melia Las Antillas was my favorite to date!!! First the postives. Beach was awesome, pools nice, entertainment staff top notch. Bed in the Bungalow suite was king size and was so comfortable, food and restaurant staff were amazing (and I am a picky eater)! Lots of hot water, room cleaned regularly. As always, the Cuban people are so friendly and I always feel safe even when traveling off the resort. The negatives were [... read more] the draperies/bedding need to be updated (or at least remove the severe wrinkles) and most important, add more bar staff at the lobby bar and cafe bar. At times, you could wait 20-30 minutes or more to get a drink/plate of fries. Would I go back? In a heartbeat :)

Grand Memories Varadero: Incredible Beach!

The beach at this resort was stunning-crystal clear water and lots of fish if you venture a little further in. Two main pools. One of them kept getting flooded due to the rain but the other one was very nice and large enough that you could find a spot to yourselves. The food was pretty bad, but that's not exclusive to this resort. The rooms were clean, but smelt a little musty. Some of the lights needed replacement and the door handle to the balcony was broken. Very good great service the buffet was not good though room maids were excellent friendly ocean was phenomenal the flight was on time both ways changing money was fast and efficient check in was quick entertainment was really good

Palma Real: Average Resort

The staff were very nice. The food was surprisingly good. There was a good variety to choose from. We were contacted concerning which area we would want our room to be by, the quiet pool or the active pool area. We requested the quiet pool area. We were not told that there is a club on the resort that opens at 11pm until 3am, which was directly across from our room. If you want rest and relaxation, this is not the resort to go to. The noise factor was the worst that we have ever experienced at night, almost all night. Not much rest. The pools were not clean and had green fungus all around. I wouldn't go into the pool. There was a lot of missing pieces of ceramic in the pool also. I was told that they were working to improve the resort. There is a long way to go before I will ever think about going back.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Fabulous staff! Good entertainment! Close to beach.

Fabulous staff! Nightly Shows were very good. Comfortable rooms. Close to the beach. Beach was beautiful! Food wasn't great, but I don't eat sea food. Had a great time. Loud banging coming from another resort for a few days. Close to town and excursions.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Resort, Great Staff

The Resort was very clean rooms, grounds, beach were well maintained.The staff at the restaurants and bars were excellent. The food was great, lots to choose from. We were in the Diamond Club and it was well worth the upgrade.

Melia Las Americas: A beautiful resort and great staff but some challenges

The resort is very beautiful. The rooms, pool and beach are all nice. There are three easily accessible restaurants without a reservation, one being a really quaint 24 hour cafe overlooking the beach. There are outside and inside seats, but really enjoyable early morning and late evenings. One issue I had was that my room was a problem from the beginning. The door didn't shut properly and I had to switch to another room. Then the next day, I had to switch again as I had a room with an oce [... read more]an view and they had to wait for one of these rooms to become available. However, the staff were quite good about the whole thing. They were very kind and helpful, but I can't understand why I was given a faulty room in the first place. Overall, I think the food was good although I know most people complain about the food in Cuba. Also, there were four restaurants where you had to make reservations and I tried three of them. They were fine, but not again the same as we would have in Canada. Fine but not excellent except for the crepe flambe perhaps that I had at the international restaurant. I would recommend this hotel due to the really good facilities, staff and location. Overall it is the best resort I have stayed in in Cuba so far. Definitely a 4 star experience.

Grand Memories Varadero: First visit to Cuba

The hotel grounds were well kept, although not many garbage cans around. It Was our first visit to Cuba. Hotel was older but clean. A larger hotel, so a bit more of a walk to the beach. After a couple of days the buffet gets repetitive. A large variety of food though. Something for everyone. Would not recommend going in May, as it is their rainy season. Not to take ) this was upsetting. The staff overall was great they worjed quick to deal with all the water on the grounds. Lots of sand flies but there was lots of water!! The sail boat guys were great !! Very cheap to go out right in front and see some beautiful tropical fish !! Overall considering what we paid for the family it was average. Beach was very nice !! Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Nice stay

Beautiful hotel , one of the most modern resorts we’ve stayed at, very clean, staff friendly. Downside was there appeared to be a beach buffet that wasn’t operational except for a wedding that was happening. There was a snack bar but you sat down and ordered - one lunch time we waited an hour for burger and fries. Really would have liked for a beach buffet style (nachos , pizza, burgers, hot dogs , ect) . We got sick of the buffet but the a la carts were Awesome . But was had a nice bit of rain while we were there seemed to take awhile to get inside activities on the go , which wasn’t too bad. Entertainment was good in the evenings different musical acts , theatre entertainment seemed mostly dancing and singing in Spanish . We’re a young couple so we missed not having a disco on the property but on Saturdays a bus came to the resort and took you to the marina bars for free. Overall great stay

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: A little disappointed.

After a week at the Ocean Veradero el Patriarca, I am afraid it was a bit of a disappointment. Our room was not as nice as the photo in the online viewing and the room fridge was not stocked as we were told at the orientation by Air Transat. The lock on our patio door did not work and the makeshift lock pulled part of the door frame off. The food was OK. Staff was pleasant but most had a very poor knowledge of the English language.

Roc Barlovento: Average for Cuba

We had to live out of our suitcases as there were only two small drawers , 6 hangers in a smallish closet and two open shelves . The beds were comfortable but not the pillows . The food was average and not much change from day to day . All the staff were very friendly and helpful !

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Resort needs lots of TLC

The resort was clean. But had a lot of building issues. I stayed on the top floor. Every time it rained (everyday) the roof would leak in the hallways. Then water was running into the rooms. The maids tried to contain it for the most part by laying old towels everywhere. But it was non stop. They’d run out of dishes every night and towels were scarce. Not once did they replace the towels in the room. Staff was friendly and accommodating except for the front desk people. They  [... read more]seemed uninterested in anything. I wouldn’t stay there again or reccomend anyone to either. I’m pretty easy going and don’t expect much. Just this resort didn’t seem to keep up with the necessities.
