Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Another fabulous vacation

We stayed at the GBP Akumal Nov 3 - Nov 10, 2016 in room 6011. This was our second trip to the same resort this year. There is a reason why we return to a place... excellent service, quality of food and facilities. Beach is clean and inviting. Highly recommended. We will be looking to return again in the new year.

My recent stay at the grand Bahia was amazing the resort itself is beautiful not to mention the ocean views that comes along with it the food was amazing very well kept property only issue we had was with our room there was a musty smell and a leakage from the ceiling other then that no other complaints

THE PLACE IS WONDERFUL, THE STAFF GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY TO PLEASE YOU, CLEAN AND SPACIOUS ROOM. FOOD IS AWESOME, FISH, SEA FOODS, STEAK, CHICKEN, FRUITS. VEGETABLES ETC EVERYTHING IS FRESH ANDS TASTY. MANY DIFFERENT SHOWS AT MANY DIFFERENT PLACES, THEIR IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. THE TRANSPORTATION ON THE SITE IS FAST AND THEIR IS A LOT OF THEM (NEVER WAITED MORE THEN 5 MINUTES). WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK TO BAHIA PRINCIPE AGAIN, THANK YOU!1

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great Resort

This hotel is very beautiful....very picturesque! The view is breathtaking from every angle. The actual (hotel), is exactly the same as the pictures displayed, we were pleasantly surprised. Very clean from the room to the lobby, to the beach and to the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. Lots to eat and do according to your interest.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beyond Expectations!

Pros - The beach was well managed with a bar, plenty of good quality loungers, palapas and landscaping. There are 2 roped off sections, but really no different and not a problem. There was drink service, although sometimes it was quicker to go up to the bar. Many of the palappas had one or 2 pegs so we could hang our stuff instead of placing bags on the sand. All of the palappas had tables. But best of all, the resort has at least 3 areas with breakwaters so we could swim in clear, relatively  [... read more]calm water. We snorkeled at bit, because there are lots of fish right there. - The buffet was so varied and well-presented, we really didn't need to go to a la cartes, but we did. They do change the buffet theme every day, but the variety I am writing about is the range of offerings. We took advantage of the unlimited a la cartes, and booked them all on the first night. We cancelled our last reservation so we could join the gala buffet at Sian Ka'an. This was even more sumptuous, with lobster, king crab legs and whatever you could imagine. - The resort also has an app and we could have booked with that. In any case it was convenient to check the app to remind ourselves about our reservations. The app also has the daily activities, which are posted on a board as well in the format of today and tomorrow plus the weekly theme days. - The lobby bar is in a theatre a bit to one side of the lobby. As well there is service in the lobby and outside. (Didn't go outside because of smoke.) An amazing touch is there was a self-serve hot beverages counter plus a self-serve bar with tequila shots. - Free wifi is only one continuous hour daily, so we needed to be efficient. This includes checking the Bahia app. Full daily wifi was $10/day. - The resort is so massive they have 62 trolleys to move people, and they are frequent and cheerfully flexible. In other resorts I have stood and watched some 'elite' trolley whiz by, but not here. We did need to use them to go to a couple of restaurants, plus to the Hacienda market to catch the Collectivo to Playa del Carmen. This is easily a 30+ minute ride and costs 40 pesos. The resort itself is at least 90 minutes from Cancun Airport. - Our room was in building 53, very centrally located between the lobby, buffet and beach. Although it was on the 3rd floor, we still couldn't see the ocean, but we could hear it. The bed was perfect, and we admit we slept better than we have in years, even though we have a pretty good bed at home. The last 2 nights the resort did get busier, and sleep was slightly interrupted. We enjoyed the mini bar offerings as well as the fruit bowl and tequila on arrival. - Staff was unfailingly available and kind. We appreciated the Orlando and Denis team at breakfast, and Alejandro (Rodizio?), and Teodomiro in (I think) the Fruto del Mar. Cons - None of the following is much different from any other resort, but here they are. - People were smoking on the beach as well as on the outside area of the lobby. A smoking section would be appreciated. - The closest beach toilets have only 2 stalls and are in the (beautiful) pool area. - Some parents tend to let their children bellow in the buffet. Some parents ignored their children as they played on the empty stage, even darting back stage. Most parents had simple, respectful dealings with their children. - Some male guest was earnestly videoing his sweetie during Zumba. (Not the only resort with these guys.) As a Jazzercise participant, I would be happy to get my music therapy and workout through Zumba or even Yoga, but grace is not my strength and I prefer not become someone's Facebook fool. If the instructor at least requested no filming at the outset, I would have participated. Conclusion - Well worth the trip!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: HUGE RESORT

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly a lot of Spanish speaking people at the resort and some of the staff did not know the greatest English so it was hard to get information sometimes but the resort was huge! Thank god there was a cart 24-7 to drive you around and I would STRONGLY Recommend the Japanese alacarte! So delicious!! The food at the buffet was very good as well. I would deffently go back

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Good Times !!!!

we had a great time ... we only stayed 4 nights but we wish we could have stayed longer. I like that it was a short ride from the airport. The staff was great. The food was a nice variety that satisfied everyone. The rooms were clean and the pools were awesome. The beach was clean and you could walk for hours. We would definitely go back

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Fantastic !

Just got back from Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda, gorgeous hotel , had the 3rd floor corner room facing the pool and a view of the ocean, very clean , excellent room service, the grounds are immaculate, people great ! There are plenty of restaurants to book , but we really liked the buffet style since there are so many choices , each night they had a theme ( American , Mexican , Italian , Dominican, Asian, etc... ) lobster, shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, you name it they had it , and every da [... read more]y was "paella" time on the beach........We had great weather, smooth flight , the airport people were great, breezed thru customs and check in was 10 min. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

Hotel and everything around is excellent.We enjoy in really good organization, nice people and stuffs, plenty of activity,excellent food, night variety programs and certainly splendid beach and sea.I hope that we will be in possibility to come back soon.Thank you!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great Resort

My Wife and I have been to the " Bahia Principe Resort In Janaica on numerous occasions. It is one of our favourite resort to vacation to. The resort itself is just great and the food at the Buffet is of very good quality. We have dined at all the restaurants during our last vacation., i.e, October 20th to November 3rd, 2016 and found that top notch food is being served. Not once did we complained as to food quality and we ate whatever was ordered. Our favourite restaurant is "Don Pablo". It i [... read more]s a french restaurant and the service was impecable. When visiting this restaurant, ask for "Germaine". He wîll provide you with the type of service that you deserve. After dinner, order the "Banana Flamber". You wîll be impressed. On the negative side, my wife broke her arm when she fell at the resort. No fault of the resort. In the past we have had no problem at this resort who have made a change In some Management areas. For some unfortunate reason we did encounter some Beach problem which was very quickly resolved by the "Manager of Public Relations" and by the resorts "Upper Mandagement". We wîll be returning again for another great vacation.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Not Quite A 5 Star

This hotel had amazing grounds. Shrubs and lawns were well maintained by the staff. The cleanliness of our room was amazing...we stayed in building 30, room 211. The negatives were (1)the language barriers. We felt allot of the staff didn't speak or understand English very well. The management at the resort may have not considered this to be a problem, as 90% of their clients were European. Secondly, the amount of rude Europeans we discovered at the buffet. They were always butting in  [... read more]line ahead of you, disregarding that you were waiting your turn ( as a good Canadian does). Thirdly, the buffet food. The selection seemed to cater more to foods that Europeans would eat, rather than that type of food North Americans would be used to. The food at the buffet was generally not hot, lukewarm at best. This may have been due to the large volume of people they had to feed in a short period of time. The beach had plenty of loungers but we found they were so far down to the waterline, that there was no place really, to walk the beach , if you wanted to. We also found that this resort really catered to families. Many, many small children continuously wining while you were trying to eat in the buffet. Sorry for the negativity but this is how we saw it. Will we go to Bahia again? Yes, but regrettably not in Punta Cana. P.S. If you select this resort please take bug spray as those little mosquitoes bite.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Fabulous resort

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Very large luxurious resort with friendly staff. Always willing to give assistance with any request. The food was typical of most resorts. The rooms are large and spacious with very comfortable beds and the cleaning staff dies a great job. Mini bar filled daily and always an abundance of clean towels. Will definitely be back. October 31 thru November 3/16

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: amazing resort

I just got back from an amazing vacation with my 16 year old daughter. I have been to Mexico before ( different resort) , cuba and dominican but this was the best resort I have stayed at. The food was delicious ( to good actually, I think I gained 10 lbs in 5 days) the staff were so welcoming and the place was very well maintained. We staying at the Coba resort but the beach was a pleasant 10 min shuttle over Tulum resort where they had a great beach access. This would be a great resort for families with small children as most of the pools has a shallow area and a gradual walk in to the deeper end as well as a cool water park that was just beside the bigger pool area. I would go back to this resort for sure and would have already recommended it to some friends that are looking at booking a holiday .

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing Beach!

This is a massive and beautiful resort, the grounds are lovely and our rooms were lovely. The buffet is not great but we did not go hungry. My husband stood in line for an hour at guest services to try and book reservations at any of the restaurants. I would have appreciated an advance email from the resort advising us to do that in advance of our trip to avoid the disappointment of not being able to try any. We should not have had to learn that from other guests when it was already to late. [... read more] The beach at this resort is spectacular and we never had any difficulty getting a palapa. We would have had to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve one close to the water but we were always able to get one and we spent our entire week there, preferring it over the pool. We went to one show, the Michael Jackson Tribute and it was excellent. The resort is massive and like a maze if you have never been there before, but there is plenty of transportation so that you don't have to walk a long distance to get anywhere. Service was hit and miss but good when you got it. Housekeeping was excellent and our rooms were clean and comfortable and we were given plenty of water.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: for a bahia this place was about a 3 star

first our rooms were not what we paid for we paid for superior junior suites and ended up with standard rooms this is because none of us could climb the stairs to the hill suites.the buffet rest. was always low on food and when they refilled items the food was at best warm.bar drinks are not very good quality. also the beach snack bar opened at 11am closed at 3pm. dinner was at 7-10 if you did not catch dinner you did not have any snack bars open to get any food all bars closed at 11pm.the fro [... read more]nt reception staff were very rude on check in told us to bad we could not us our hill suites but no compensation was going to be given the manager was to give us free t shirts and a bottle of rum but never recived. myself and the 4 other couples have used bahia resorts several times over the past 20yrs. may be time to try other resorts

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing resort

What a great place for a vacation. Staff couldn't do enough for you, food was great and plentiful. Beach was amazing. Lots of things to do, never was bored. 1week was not enough time to do & see everything. The evening shows were very good.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Nice Place

Nice hotel, nice staff, but smaller then other Bahia properties that we have stayed at, small buffet, lobby bar closed at 11pm. The property is spread out with higher and lower levels of rooms, so if guests have mobility issues they need to state these when reservations are made to insure they are accommodated in the main building where there are elevators.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Missing Grand Bahia!!!

Went with my family of four. With my spouse and 2 kids. Our first time at the Grand Bahia and it was amazing. We fell in love with resort. The people at Jamaica were wonderful. They have so much love and they make you feel welcome! We were lucky, we got top floor beach view and it was beautiful. The room was very clean and the water pressure in the washroom was very strong! We ate so much and the food was mostly our favourites. Like ox tails, jerk chicken, clams/seafood, etc. The food was always fresh. As for the a la carte, we had 3 a la cartes. We picked Japanese, Italian, the grille steakhouse. And let me tell u, it was phenomenal! Our favourite was the Italian. As for the beach and pool, the beach was crystal clear water with white soft sand. And the pool was always my kids favourite! We stayed at the pool most of the times. Overall, the place is well kept, food was fantastic, and people that works there was nice. So, we already decided to go again next year!! Can't wait!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Not a 5* Resort I would rate more a 4*

The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful..the resort in general is extremely large given both the Grande and Luxury are combined making it a little difficult to navigate...SIGNAGE and directions not clear enough. There needs to be more brochures and pamphlets in the room to indicate layout of resorts, daily entertainments..also Restaurants menus ... No lemons, limes etc served with drinks... Room was tidied up but not properly cleaned on a daily basis. We had a problem with toilet not flushing properly. Not resolved the day we left. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Beautiful Resort

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The stall was very friendly. Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. Dining room staff was friendly. We were well looked after by Adam in the snack room by the beach. The jerk chicken was amazing. My husband was well looked after for his drinks by Leslie in the lobby bar area. We will miss him. Swimming and enjoying in the beach area was great. we enjoyed our vacation and will be back again!
