Hotel Vigia: Wonderful resort

Clean, quiet nice people--everyone wanting to please you. Beach beautiful. Food and drinks good. It is a small resort that we really relaxed at. Saw lots of improvements being made while we were there. Hoping to go back next year.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Nice quiet & cozy small resort

Very clean, Staff & food is amazing. Smaller resort that is not over crowded with lots of room to enjoy your stay & to relax, this was our fourth time here. Beach is always extra clean with low waters but no big waves, excellent for kids. Can fish off the pier on the spot.

Sol Varadero Beach: Old and running down

The resort was old and poorly maintained. Doors creaked,the shower,TV and telephone did not work. They weren't fixed even till the last day. The room was not cleaned properly. The food was really mediocre. The beach was beautiful.

Melia Las Dunas: lovely setting but----

grounds lovely, beach hardly there, one more big storm and it's gone,food poor, was much better the last time we were there, rooms fine, towel service very spotty, towels [pool] not available the first day and we heard later arrivals complain during the week.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

This is the nicest and most beautiful resort that I've been to in Cuba and I've been to several. Grounds are beautiful - the people are fabulous, always going out of there way to be more than accomodating, the food is fantastic. I would highly recommend this resort!

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful resort with a gorgeous beach

Loved this resort. I was nervous about the food but it ended up being pretty good. Our room was right in between the beach, pool and buffet. Beautiful beach and grant staff. Loved how the pool was surrounded by palm trees.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best resort we have stayed at

This resort was excellent. Rooms were spotless, food was amazing. The staff were very friendly. It was nice to have so much shade at the pool and beach and lots of chairs available. Entertainment was very good. We will be returning to this resort.

Zel Cozumel: Had a fantastic time!

I travelled to the Melia with my 4 year old son in January. The staff were amazing, especially Sussy, who was running the kids club, and Otoniel, who was often running activities. My son developed relationships with both of them, as they were so kind to him. My room was always clean as was the resort. We did not take advantage of any ala cartes, but were always able to eat well in the buffet. No sickness from any food and lines for made-on-the-spot stations were never long. There was plenty to k [... read more]eep us busy on the resort. It is not overly large, so everything is in comfortable walking distance. Leaving your room is not a commitment as with some larger resorts. People selling jewelry on the beach approached me once or twice a day and were very kind, not pushy or rude. I was so happy with my stay at the Melia and hope to return one day.

Melia Las Dunas: Good resort

Cons-dated rooms, food was OK at a la cartes and buffet, slow service by some of the hotel staff in the buffet (some were excellent though), bathrooms were FAR from the beach, and not many throughout this big resort, drinks weren't great....check in and checkout (especially checkout) was a terrible process, FAR drive from airport Pros-CLEAN! Melia Marina Varadero: A solid package

Bre from Trip Central efficiently helped me to decide on and book this resort in a 10 minute discussion. Great job! Sun wing check in and flying experience both in Toronto and Varadero was great. At Melia, just a little confusion on giving me a classic room instead of marina room which I paid for. After clarification, front desk helped me to get the top floor (the best) after lunch. The room was spacious, clean, great bathtub with huge window facing the bed and balcony. The restaurant reservatio [... read more]n lady was always pleasant and helpful. We asked at around 4:00 pm for table due to cancellation and got 2 extra night at a la ca restaurants. The evening entertainment was good and we actually enjoyed all 7 nights performance! Juan was a great entertainment host and a great ping pong partner with my husband. Unfortunately not a lot of guests are interested in the day time programs therefore lots of scheduled activities like dance lesson, h2o gym, stretching etc did not take place. Nice lobby lounge, nice drinks, nice marina, decent food in Cuban standard. My husband and I had a great relaxing experience.

Hotel Vigia: Typical Cuban Hotel

Staff worked very hard keeping hotel and grounds very clean. Excellent job I have to say. Food was edible nothing special. Exactly the same buffet every day.Don't upgrade to a more expensive room. They are all the same. 60,s vintage. This trip did it for us. Last trip to Cuba. Not worth the money. We just booked a trip through West Jet to the Dominican in April

Melia Jardines del Rey: Very disappointed

Although the grounds, buildings, and beach are nice, there are a number of things wrong with this resort. The food at the a la carte restaurants was not very good. This is the first time that I had better food at the buffet than at the restaurants. Also, the restaurants don't have any liquor or coffee, so you can't enjoy a post dinner drink. All they have is wine and beer. In general, the attention to service was lacking. Many times we had asked for a drink and it never arrived. This was most no [... read more]table in the buffet. There is a huge lack of communication. There are no postings for the daily activities so you had to just be in the right place at the right time. The only thing that they advertised was the evening show, and even then, the front desk didn't know what time they started. We had an issue with an ant infestation in our room, but this was quickly resolved by maintenance. Lastly, the grounds are huge, so be prepared for a lot of walking.

Melia Las Dunas: Absoultely stunning!!

My entire family went down together ( 23 of us) and every single person had an amazing time. The staff were all extremely accomodating and the food was delicious with so much variety. Theres also a huge advantage of having a family side and adult side completely mirrored image. Tons of activities for everyone (since our group ramged from 6 - 50 years of ags i know this for a fact) definitely reccomend it !

Melia Las Dunas: Excellent resort!

Hotel was great, rooms are clean and well kept, grounds are beautiful, pool area is very clean, lobby bar is super fun (Romero is the best barman!). Great walking path criss-crosses over the entire resort area. The resort has both an adult side and a separate family side. The beach is long and immaculate, no water shoes required! I must also note the Buffet was excellent, great variety of everything including meat and vegetables (the pumpkin purée is amazing). The lunch restaurant at the family side pool was also excellent. I have to mention the quality of the food has greatly improved since my last trip to Cuba (Varadero 2010). The staff is friendly and courteous. I was part of a group of twenty three people (family and friends covering a mix of age groups) and everyone agrees they would not hesitate to return. I pesonally have not one complaint, and a good time was definitely had by all of us. Bonne vacances!

Melia Marina Varadero: NICE NICE WEEK

We stayed at the Melia Marina from Jan 24-31. Check in and out was simple and fast. English is well spoken and understood. Good initial information was provided at check-in. Stayed in room 1528 with Marina View. Room was clean and everything worked as it should. Zovaida our maid was VERY NICE. She kept the place just right and added the towel art for a bonus. She was VERY appreciative of some gifts and CUC's we provided. Pools are very clean, lots of lounges and seating. Servers bring drinks and [... read more] sometime even skewers of fresh fruit....nice touch. The beach is a short walk (or golf cart ride) away. it is quite narrow in the Melia "area". Lots of lounges...no problem to get one. The first day the beach was loaded with seaweed..not nice...but after that it was fairly well cleaned. You can walk for a LONG way in either direction on the beach....we really enjoyed watching the Pelicans dive for fish. We went to two a la cartes....Bana (oriental) and Don Pepperoni (Italian)....both were very good...great service and good atmosphere. The Buffet restaurant can be quite busy at times, but there are lots of tables and servers to look after you. The food was good, lots of variety. The cook stations were busy. Particularly enjoyed a large pork roast, crepes in the morning and the salad offerings. There are good hamburgers and fries if you need them. The Marina location is very nice. Lots of activity happening. Entertainment in the evening was quite good. There was a variety of acts during the week...some excellent..some just OK Overall we had a great week at Melia Marina, it was good value for the money. We spent one day on a tour to Havana with a private tour operator called Cuban Connections....HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Melia Las Dunas: Would definitely go back!!

Grounds was always clean. Meals were excellent for Cuban resorts. Entertainment was off the chains and inclusive. We got a beach front suite. Great way to wake up everyday. Would be nice to get fresh towels every 2 days. While we were there, laundry facility broke down that some guests resorted to stealing beach towels off chairs. Overall, it was really relaxing and service was always on point. Keep up the good work.

Melia Las Dunas: 2 Thumbs up !

The a la carte restuarants were very good... especially our last night at the Italian and my exceptional birthday treatment at the Romantique. Looked forward to our specially prepared omelettes and fresh fruit every morning. I thought the Cuban staff was fabulous..... especially the water sports staff and JR and Henry that cleaned the beach early each morning. Jose on the Hobie Cat was AWESOME !.....and a pretty good singer too!...hahahaa

Starfish Cayo Largo: Disappointing

Lets start with the positive. Amazing beach!!! Room on second floor good,clean and updated recently. Pizzeria located outside main bar had very good pizza and service. Buffet due to our waiter Victor made our breakfast and dinner experience excellent. Unfortunately for the negative. Please take into consideration I have been to Cuba over 12 times in many different locations. We have also been informed the resort has been sold to Memories during the vacation . Buffet not big enough for the amount of people at the resort. Lunch was a nightmare everyday. A few items at the beach restaurant and not enough seating. We could never get a seat!!!. The pool Bar was absolutely disgusting both service and food. This was a family resort with no French Fries or Ice Cream!! Our only option was half way across the resort was the Pizzeria. Lobby Bar was the Everything Room that not much happened. There was no 24 snacks. Not enough seating for the size of resort. One to two bar staff serving drinks. At night this was the only bar opened and was very frustrating when you wanted to get a drink. You could be waiting up to 30 min. The bar staff that worked evenings were Great!!!... and oh so overworked!!!! They did their best given the situation. Frequently running out of drink options. Nighttime show was dancing almost every single night. Needed to change it up. Pool liner in desperate need of replacement. The all inclusive water-sport was non existent. For 2 peso a person you could take a taxi shuttle. Let me tell you it was an absolutely Terrifying experience!!!. 14 people, no seat belts, and seats that were held together by tape. It was a horrible 20 min drive, my husband hit his head on the roof and I got mild whiplash, and when we got to the beach, it was nothing special. We left 20 min later. Luckily the taxi on the way back was newer with a good driver. Hopefully the new owners will turn things around. This resort does have the potential to be a good resort. We were approached by staff asking us to write a good review for the hotel for Trip Advisor. I guess thats why it was rated #2.

Beautiful beach grounds well kept room clean bar service in lobby not really good not enough bartenders. Not many premium drinks seafood a la Cate ran out of lobster breakfast was always the same not really hot Lots of walking

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Awesome resort clean and very friendly staff !

There was a lot of rain no buddies fault !! Went the restaurants closed down in between breakfast , Lunch and dinner they all did at the same time !! Other than that everything was top notch !! The specialty restaurants that we booked at where very nice treat !!
