Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Place to Vacation

First time for us in Mexico and we could not find much wrong with the resort other then they don't have Blue Cheese dressing at the buffets. They could use a few more golf carts to move people around quicker. All the people were friendly and kind and spoke fairly good English. All areas were clean and well maintained. Outside the resort you have to careful as the place is running with ripoff artist. we got scammed for 269.00 usd for a ring that Westjet (bd) tours forced us to go into a jewelle [... read more]ry factory in order to get a free ride to 5th ave. where there is more of these robbers for miles. Had the ring checked out in Canada and its junk. I am not sure yet who is at fault for putting Senors in rooms right in between a bunch of Mexican University students who were on spring break and do not sleep. Up all night screaming and making a mesh, load music and noise until 5.00 am and then start all over again at 10.00 am. Our last night the Resort did move us. I would go back but not on any spring break.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Wonderful stay in the jungle

This was my third visit to this resort, and as usual, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the room clean, and the beds comfortable. The grandkids just loved the waterpark, and the adventurous adults enjoyed the slides too. I am interested in birds and bird watching, so I enjoyed all the jungle around the resort. I would encourage the hotel to start keeping its own bird list of what has been seen on the resort so that when they get visitors such as myself coming, they have a checklist  [... read more]of what to look out for readily available. I enjoyed the short snorkel trip in the Jade River, although it is a very short excursion. It gives a different view of all the mangroves, and the water is crystal clear. I would recommend this resort for people wanting a good holiday for a family.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great Resort

The rooms were very clean comfortable and very roomy with balconies The food was very plentiful great variety. We are vegetarian. We found that outside of Breakfast eggs there was not much by the way of vegetarian proteins during lunch or dinner. We felt that there could have been more tofu based lentils and soy beans based dishes Greek yogurt protein source. Grand Palladium Colonial: Great resort

Our family loved this resort. It was nice and clean and the staff was all very friendly, we never lacked anything. We loved that the pool and the beach was close enough to walk back and forth to without having to pack up and go from one place to the other. And the lobby was such a fun experience in the evening, it was very comfortable to relax and play a few games or just have a drink and enjoy the band!

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful resort!

This was my second time staying at the Barcelo Maya Caribe in Riviera Maya. The grounds and common areas of this resort are beautiful and well maintained. The beach is very nice and if any sargassum appears, they work hard to keep it cleared up. I loved that there were so many palm trees on the beach instead of man made palapas. Mini golf, haunted house, bowling, wave runner, water parks...the list goes on. They are building a zipline course at the outter edge of the resort. The resort is quite large, but always walkable. They do have a bus to take you between the sections, but it really isn't necessary if you are able bodied. We ate at 4 of the ala cartes that we booked from our allowed ones, and paid to eat at the Brazilian restaurant (Braza). It was good, but I don't think it was any better than the restaurants we ate at for free. Enjoyed the swim up bar at the Caribe section, although we mainly were at the beach. Loved the bartenders in the Maya Mall bar. Jaguar disco was fairly busy a few of our nights, but a bit too much techno being played. Lovely sized disco with go-go dancers up high. The only downsides to this resort would be that they don't include unlimited wifi for a 5 star resort, and just find little places to skim a little off the top. They try to make you use a credit card for everything extra instead of being able to use cash, so if you use cash, expect it to take a long time to pay for things. The staff work very hard and are all very friendly. I highly recommend this resort for families or for a couple looking for a quieter stay. I would suggest it isn't ideal for singles as there really isn't a lot of night life. Overall a very good stay at a top quality hotel.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Loved Everything!

Beautifully manicured grounds, fast and efficient checkin at the Privilege area. Food and drinks were always exceptional, as was our butler, Paola. This is our 2nd time staying at he Ocean Riviera Paradise and we would go back in a heartbeat. Marco at the Privilege Beach area was amazing, always a smile in his face:) Endrick at Route 66 restaurant was friendly, funny and kept our drinks filled and the food came fast. The privilege upgrade was totally worth it!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Resort

Just returned from a vacation at this hotel.The grounds were immaculate,the food was out of this world. The resort employees were always very nice and extremely helpful. Lots to do there and even though it is very large still very easy to get around. Would recommend this place to anyone and we will be returning in the near future. Can't say enough good things about this resort !!!

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Beautiful setting

Nice &clean Good service The ground is green and lot of space to relax The room is cleaning at lease 2 times a days.the restaurants with reasonable food but the service is excellent all the time from my experiences

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Fun Holiday

Went to this hotel from January 26, 2019 to February 2, 2019. Enjoyed my vacation. Positives were the building location to the beach and pool, very clean, great food and wonderful staff. Negatives were the room was dated (could use a face lift), beach was eroded and in need of repair, lots of seaweed, noise carried through out the hallways right into the room, entertainment was very lacking as was the Black and White and wild life critters running around the resort.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great week spent with family

This is a very nice resort. Very quiet and relaxing. We attended a wedding and it was beautiful. I would definately go back. I wasn’t a fan of the beach. But we fixed that by staying by the pool. One thing to keep an eye out on. Make sure you don’t book while Crash my Playa is on. It’s a huge party/concert. It’s just drunk people everywhere with nowhere to even sit. I’m happy this was only on the first day of our trip.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: just got back Jan 2019

Grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Staff was lovely. Rooms were large and clean Beach was clean, great sand and waves just right - water was warm. Restaruants were frecsh and nice drinks were awesome, and staff happy to serve them the food was just mediocre compared to other resorts with the same ratings. food service was great - hot and fast - lots of choices. alot of walking on this resort. Not enough signs to keep you on track - took a group of 5 about 4 days before we [... read more] really figured out what was where and the quickest way to get where we were going. the pool water was really really cold - every single person that stepped into it had a comment about the how cold the water was. We choose the sea as it was warmer. No one sits at the swim up bars, it is just too cold. there is no dinner buffet and no reservations in restaurants, so we waiting on average about 1 hour and 15 minutes every night for dinner. One of our rooms had no hot water for the entire 9 days, even after mentioning it several times, also had a toilet that ran on and on, so every flush we had to reach in the tank and fix it. chairs at the pool and beach require playing the game. First 4 days, 5 of us could not get chairs at the beach or at the pool at around 10 am. Although the hotel says they enforce a "dont leave a towel on your chair to reserve it" policy, they don't! So up we get at 7 am to place towels on chairs, which worked for a couple of days, then all of a sudden we all gone for lunch to come back to our chairs being occupied by others that said the hotel staff took our towels off so they could have the chairs???? Really big disappoinment. The excursion staff are awesome and helpful as were the bellboys. All in all - the resort was nice but i would not return.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Best resort I have been to

My daughter and I were lucky enough to go to the 5 Azul resort in Playa Del Carmin from Jan.26 to Feb2 It was clean ,very well kept grounds...the staff were so very polite... Food was by far the best...I have never seen so many veggies and fresh fruit it was so scrumptious...also quite a variety of cheeses.. There are many restaraunts / booths/ snack bars available and they are spread out accordingly.. I cant stress how delicious the variety of foods they are available. El Dorado Casitas Royale: Best vacation I ever had at the El Dorado Casita Royale!

This hotel was beyond my expectations. The service was excellent. The resort was maintained beautifully. Most importantly the staff was amazing. As soon as we arrived we were greeted outside the lobby and they took our luggage. I expected to go into the lobby to stand in line to check in (which I have done in all of my experiences with travel) but this was not the case. They made us feel so welcome and special. They gave us champagne and whisked us away into their golf cart. Took us right [... read more] to our beautiful casita suite. Shortly after our luggage arrived. I highly recommend this resort. I am definitely going back next year.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Great vacation

The resort was great (not as big as others, easy to get around, clean)! Our rooms were clean (a little musty smelling but we had a lot of rain). The majority of the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help, the food was satisfactory to great (depending on where we ate). Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: As Expected - Met All Expectations

3rd stay at Valentin and this time I took my 3 daughters; once again, I (we all) would go back! The food and service was the best, at all of the several a la carte restaurants as well as the breakfast and lunch buffets in which we ate, and there was never a long lineup. The grounds were immaculate, the rooms were kept spotless, and as per usual, the staff were always friendly and accommodating. Great value for what I rate to be a "6 star" resort. Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Amazing Resort, Best Holiday Ever

The Staff step over backwards for you, full service around the pool by their super friendly staff and waiters!! The Entertainment in the evenings is beautifully set up and so much fun!! They have live entertainment outside every night with some professional dance team, Awesome!! We're thinking of going back for New Years!! That would be super Amazing for sure!!

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Beautiful Resort awesome staff

The resort is beautiful and the beach was awesome. The staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was great. I would highly recommend it. The best food was at the sea food restaurant and the pool side “Bear foot bistro” was awesome for lunch.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Amazing resort.

This hotel doesn't look as good on the pictures as it really is. It is not to big so is not too crowded. Very nice area all covered by bush, large enough for long walks. No insects, those Coatis living there are very friendly and they are cute. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Service excellent. Food awesome. We were lucky it was not many weeds on the beach which is beautiful. The weeds appear mostly with stormy water. Grand Sunset Princess: Not a 4.5 Star Resort

As I reflect on my experience at the Grand Sunset Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico I cannot recommend this resort to family or friends let alone fellow travellers looking for a 4.5 star resort to vacation at. On a positive note aesthetically the grounds and rooms are very nice; water pressure and hot water for showering is better than most places I have stayed; there are plenty of pools and outdoor bars to choose from; the habitant preserved with spider monkeys, codies, iquana and other wi [... read more]ldlife birds is pleasantly unexpected; the 24 sports bar is convenient and the layout of the resort is easy to navigate for its size but unfortunately and disappointedly this is where it ends. If this resort wants to continue acquiring vacationers worldwide with expectations based on the resort’s rating I would suggest the following improvements: 1) speed up check in. It took longer than expected considering the number of staff. 2) advise staff to not continuously harass patrons to attend timeshare presentations, take photos for a charge and to book spa options. We are on vacation for a reason. 3) improve the quality of the linens 4) do not lock the air conditioning max in the room so that humidity cannot be reduced. It is unhealthy to sleep in a room where it gets to a point where all your belongings absorb moisture and nothing feels dry. 5) the beach was overcrowded with too many loungers, the ocean was dirty and had a foul odour because of the seaweed and the shoreline rocky making it impossible to enter the water without shoes. The codies although adoreable run around uncontrolled stealing food and running in and out of garbage cans. Simple solutions to solve these issues. 6) the themed buffet lacked flavour and variety nor did it cater to vegetarians except for a very small area nor did the beach or pool grills. The meat and other options were left out too long without being replaced with fresh items to prevent bacteria. Please consider everyone’s dietary options seriously and salmonella is never acceptable 7) don’t charge extra $$ at an all inclusive resort. The al a carte restaurants were not “all inclusive”. There were items on the menu that were extra $$. The ambience, quality of the food and service was more like a 2.5 - 3.0 star rating. 8) staff at the sports bar did not call security nor take responsibility for outbreaks resulting from patrons who exceeded their alcohol limit and became abrasive and intolerable. 9) alcohol and beer served was very poor quality although better options were visible. Once again an upcharge. 10) quality control in all areas where food and beverage is being prepared and served needs to be greatly improved. Having your entire food and beverage staff wear hair nets is not enough. Several patrons including myself as well as my boyfriend were affected with bacteria contacted through food or drinks resulting in days spent ill instead of enjoying a long awaited vacation away from home. Bacteria could be smelt at the pool and sports bars. I mentioned it to a staff member but was ignored. I became quite ill 5 days into my 10 day stay experiencing food poisoning symptoms. I am still not feeling 100 percent. Bacteria and food poisoning is a serious health concern. The resort should be taking action immediately to facilitate a plan to correct outbreaks. In conclusion despite having suffered from bacteria and the disappointment of a 3.5 star resort disguising themselves as a 4.5 star we tried our best to enjoy ourselves and met some amazing people along the way. P

Grand Oasis Riviera: Really Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and well kept.Our room was clean and the beach was gorgeous. The only thing we felt was a let down was that they had really nice restaurants but they were under staffed so we didn't get the service that the restaurants should have had. This was our second time going and the first time the restaurants were great. It seemed like there had been some changes to them. I also LOVED that there was a great cafe on site to get a really good coffee/latte whenever. Overall we love this resort.
