Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Really worth it!

I'd like to start by saying that even though I did a tonne of research and read a lot of reviews, this resort truly exceeded my initial expectations. There seems to be an unending amount of staff everywhere, and all of them seemed truly happy to be doing their jobs. There's a bit of a language barrier, but considering the amount of people that were there from various countries speaking a multitude of languages, it makes sense that the staff would not be able to learn every language, especially n [... read more]ot fluently. They do their very best and I was given very good service. The food was delicious, and of fantastic quality and variety. I could have eaten at the buffet every night, but I did venture out to the a la cartes. If you love meat, their Brazilian style steakhouse, Rodizio, is amazing, and all the meat was incredibly well flavoured. The Mediterranean restaurant, El Pescador, offered some of the best seafood. And their Italian restaurant (I don't remember the name) had an amazing appetizer buffet and delicious pasta menu choices. You never go hungry either. The pool side buffet had lots of choice for midday snacks. The grounds are stunning, constantly being groomed by an army of grounds keepers. The trolley car that is available to take you to the other parts of the resort (the entire property is actually 6 different resorts, though only the Ambar is adults only) and comes quite frequently, so you never wait long. The beach is beautiful, and once again there are groomers raking up the seaweed all day. They do their best to keep it clean as possible. There are always chairs available, but if you want one close to the water, you need to get up very early (6:30ish) but they have paths to walk down easily. Best part about adults only is they mean it. There are signs everywhere along the border of the Ambar portion and the lifeguard will actually blow his whistle and redirect parents who walk their children onto the adults only portion of the beach. You truly get an adults only experience. There are plenty of women who go topless on the beach and no one bothers you for it, but that's as crazy as it gets. It's really a relaxing atmosphere for couples who want to enjoy each others company and not worry about a thing. My biggest suggestion for a relaxing half day trip is to take the Ocean Spa tour. They pick you up at the hotel, take you out to the docks, and before you get on the boat, you sit and have little fish suck the dead skin off your feet with their lips. It leaves your feet smooth and soft. Then you board the boat to do multiple relaxing activities including simple yoga, ionizing detox, nap on a floating mattress in the ocean, full body massage, full body exfoliation, mechanical table that stretches out your spine, then chill time on the deck on bean bag mattresses and chairs before they serve you lunch at an ocean restaurant over the water. Absolutely best half day trip I have ever had. You never feel rushed, every activity just flows into the next, and by the time you get back to shore, you are ready for a nice long sleep on the beach.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great place

Had a wonderful expirienced at the Grand Bahia. Food was excellent room was great and most of all the resort was beautiful. Not a blade of grass out of place and spotless. For us it was a 10 out of 10. Only caution I would give is that due to the size of the resort there is a lot of walking so if any mobility issues you may want to ask for a room in the main corridor

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Don't listen to any of the bad reviews!!!

We just got back from a week at the bahia principe jamaica. I was nervous because I had heard some negative reviews about the service and employees but everything was amazing!!! The staff were so attentive and entertaining. Always smiling and asking if everything was ok. The grounds and the rooms were well maintained. it is the biggest resort in Jamaica so we didn't venture around too much. There is a tour that they offer but I declined (too afraid of a sales pitch), but on the last day, I  [... read more]was regretting that decision. It is a nice way to see the whole resort so you know where everything is and everything that is offered. the food was good. The buffet had good variety but I do agree with some of the reviews of the food not being hot, just warm mainly. I would definitely return to this resort!!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Loved adults only

I loved this resort for the adults only. The food was amazing, service was top notch and the grounds were immaculate. A few minor complaints enternaiment was acceptable, we were located on the 6th floor and the elevator worked 3 days out of 7 and our phone didn't work during our stay so we weren't able to call front desk.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Amazing Reaort

We stayed here from October 7-14 and had the best time of our lives. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The whole experience was totally over the top!! Great value for your money and every service exceeded our expectations. It's was beautiful right from our drive up to it !

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Fantastic service, fantastic employees...again!

This was my first time, and my girlfriend's fifth time at the Bahia Principe Ambar. We had an incredibly relaxing week. The food and restaurants were better than I had expected and the pool and beach were very well kept and groomed, along with the rest of the resort's grounds. The games and fitness activities pool side were a lot of fun, especially with a drink or two! I will definitely be returning in the future!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Awesome resort!!

Hotel was amazing, clean, staff was always helpful, food was some of the best I've ever had and the beach area was a little piece of paradise. I loved everything about the place. Adults only, so very calm at times but you just take a 10min shuttle and your where all the action is. I'd go back and recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I just got back from a 2 week stay at this resort and loved every minute of it. The grounds are impeccable and we were impressed by how clean this resort is. This is our first time staying at an adult resort and it was wonderful. The beach was raked daily and very clean. The many pools were beautiful and the entertainment staff were a lot of fun. You never have to walk if you don't want to.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Awesome Resort!!!

This Resort is too clean, We love the way the staff are cleaning each & every night the pool surrounding OMG awesome!!! rooms & hospitality were so nice !!! Lobby is always ready to help with very friendly staff & too many kinds of foods & drinks. Well organized event for every night.Me & my hubby went there for 19 wedding anniversary ,it was awesome!!we are planing to go back with kids & relatives next year!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing Resort

We had the time of our lives at this resort. I was so clean and beautiful. The staff was so helpful and kind. I am rather picky when it comes to food so I didn't enjoy it as much as some however it was fair. We will definitely be visiting Bahia Principe again!!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Confused

My wife and I just spent the last week Sept 30 – Oct 7 at Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar and after reading some of the negative reviews before coming we were wondering if we were even at the same place !!!! Our week was amazing, the staff wonderful, food out of this world, room clean and spacious. Not once did we sit down for a meal either at the buffet or la a cart, or walk up to a bar and were not served within a couple of minutes. The staff was very attentive, they loved to joke around with you and if you tried to speak Spanish, well they loved the fact you tried. They were always asking how you were and if everything was ok. Now with all this said there were a few problems issues here and there but nothing that was a game changer and if you consider the price you paid and the service and amenities you received Luxury Bahia Ambar is more than worth it. After all we have had friends come back from Breezes and Sandals with complaints, just showing that no place is perfect. Food good, we went to 3 la a carts (Don Pablo, Mediterranean and Brazilian steak house) and for the most part found them ok, the buffet though was just as good if not better, seafood night on Tuesday is NOT to be missed. If you’re not into seafood, don’t worry they had lots of other items you could have. BTW – we found it didn’t matter if you tipped or not the service was all good no matter. We did have a few of our favorites, for instance the lobby bar bartender Murphy was totally awesome and would see you coming and either start your drink or look at you and say “your usual” ? Guy is supper good and knows customer service. We were in building 62000 on the top floor, nice and close to everything, pool was nice but we are beach people and really enjoyed being down on the beach every day. Due to the residue of hurricane Mathew we had a day and half of rain, not bad, other than that hot and sunny. There are vendors on the beach but a quick “no thank you” and a smile and they are off somewhere else. Also in the lobby is the time share or VIP people, they can be a bit pushy. But stick to your guns and say no thanks, after all we came for the beach not 4 hours of someone spouting on about stuff I don’t care about. I guess the only thing we really found annoying was the arrival from the airport to the hotel and departure from the hotel to the airport. Very confusing staff didn’t really seem to know what was what, took forever to get on our bus to go to the hotel and when we went to leave they didn’t seem to know which group we were in, very annoying, just hope that management will correct this. All in all this was a wonderful vacation and would go back in a heartbeat, we also highly recommend this hotel/resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: 5star all the way

This is a great hotel. The service was great, the food very good and most importantly the beach to die for. You won't regret choosing this hotel. The grounds are well manicured. A choice of two large pools, one having a swim up bar and the other on the quiet side. Enjoy!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Nice Resort

This was our 4th stay at the resort in the Ambar Adult only section (it had been 4 years since our previous stay) and although I can't complain about much, the age is starting to show! Lights in our bathroom fell down, the patio door hardly opened and closed. They were quick to fix when asked but I think it will be our last stay at this resort! Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Bahia Principe Coba Might Not Be a Good Choice for Couple with No Kids

Once again we have returned to a Bahia Principe resort. We have been coming to Bahia Principe resort several times per year for about eight years or so. I believe this is our 14th stay and this marks our first vacation at the Bahia Principe Coba. We have stayed at all the Riviera May resorts, the Ambar in Punta Cana, Cayo Levantado in Samana, and in Runaway Bay in Jamaica. As we have stayed with Bahia Principe more than ten times (I think that’s the number), my wife and I are considered VIP [... read more] guests. It’s taken me some time to figure out what this gives you but essentially you are entitled to unlimited a la cartes, access to all the resorts at Bahia Principe Riviera Maya including the exclusive Don Pablo sections and can get certain requests granted. I have many friends ask why we would keep going back to the same resort chain over and over. I can tell you it’s that VIP status. While on paper those perks don’t look that tremendous, it’s like booking a higher end resort without having to pay for it. For example, on our last day we spent the entire day at the Sian Ka’an resort and enjoyed all that they have to offer by their quiet pool, including a pool side BBQ, top shelf drinks, and best of all no children (Sian Ka’an is adults only). Later in the evening we had reservations for the Alux restaurant which could very well be the best restaurant in the entire complex. All of this on Coba pricing. Like many other guests of Bahia Principe I do send an email to the resort about a week or so before arriving. I don’t make many requests but I often ask for an improved room selection. It’s sometime hard to say if I get an upgrade in the room since most of the rooms are essentially the same as one another. I can say that sometimes a room upgrade comes in the form of where it’s located on the resort. We were assigned room 32714 which is located in the building directly between the Royal Golden Lobby and the smaller of the two larger swimming pools in Coba. I has also informed the resort that it was my wife’s birthday that month and I would appreciate if they could leave a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of tequila for us upon our arrival. These requests were granted. They also added helium balloons which ended up getting snagged in the ceiling fan which caused some excitement. One of the things about being repeat guests of Bahia Principe is that you really notice when you got something in the past and suddenly it isn’t there. In the past we have seen our mini fridge restocked daily with two beers, Coke, Diet Coke, two bottles of water, Orange Fanta, Sprite, mini vodka, whisky, and rum, a small chocolate bar and a small bag of chips. Certainly if you were at the Bahia Principe for the first time you wouldn’t notice if something wasn’t there. This time the mini fridge was only stocked every other day, and there wasn’t any liquor at all. This is not a big deal for us as it is an all-inclusive. Certainly those missing items are available all over the resort, however it was noticed. Over our fourteen trips we have tried every a la carte and buffet restaurant the resort has to offer. What I can tell you is that the gourmet restaurants are excellent. Next to the Alux restaurant in Sian Ka’an, I would say that the Don Pablo restaurant in the Tulum section is the best. Everything else is very good and I would suspect you would have a hard time having a disappointing meal. I will say that the buffet restaurants are all pretty much the same thing. If you were staying at Coba, for example, I wouldn’t go out of your way to take the transportation to the Tulum section to try their buffet restaurant. There are some key food experiences that happen at various locations around the resort in any given week. For example, the cooks will make a paella right next to or on the beach. This is a lot of fun and certainly gets you something fresher than what is at the buffets. Most of our time was spent at the beach. As VIP guests we were entitled to use the Akumal section and beach. The only issue is that with the blue Coba towels you wouldn’t be able to exchange them for fresh towels since the Luxuary Akumal section has a different style of towel. In fact I would like to say to the resort that perhaps you could apply some more modern customer service standards and get rid of the towel police on the beach. I felt like I did something wrong as they got out their clipboard to look me up to see if I was in fact going to try and steel Bahia Principe towels. It’s this stubborn attention to rules at this chain that makes me sometimes question my loyalty to this resort. I honestly don’t know that I would return to the Coba section as it really caters to families with children, which we do not have. I think I will continue to look for good pricing at the other resorts and simply take the transportation to another resort which we would have access to.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fantastic Resort with Wonderful Staff

We were at this resort throughout the week where Hurricane Matthew was set to hit. I have to tell you the staff at this resort worked endlessly to ensure things kept running smoothly and ensured all visitors were calm, informed and kept up to date. The grounds are beautiful very well kept and the beach was absolutely beautiful. We ate at two a la carte restaurants and they were both wonderful. The staff was friendly and was always ensuring the visitors were taken care of and enjoying. The shows were good as well as the kids shows. A wonderful time was had at this resort and I would definitely recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: beautiful resort

the hotel is great and amazing, their some staff member are really helpful while someothers are not quite well, we had a big problem about housekeeping, we had alot of insects in our room, the room service was zero, the room never get clean properly during our absence. we made several complains but never took any action, our mini bar was never fill up since day one, the air conditioner of the room was not working at all, the rest lobby, pool, beach, waiters and waitress was amazing and great. on [... read more]ly the houskeeping service was not good at all. we had to spend our whole week in a room with full of insects, we request for change room and they never made it happen.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: One in a million vacation spot! One for the BOOKS!!!

This resort was more than wonderful. We were expecting a great trip but it turned out to be one for the books. From the staff members to management it was an amazing trip. We are extremely happy with our visit and we definitely will be returning customers. The beaches were great. Despite the hurricane Matthew scare the Bahia staff kept us entertained and comfortable. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Jeans stolen from room

This hotel was okay. What turned me off was my wife's jeans were stolen from our room. Never again! The food was okay. Rooms were semi clean. We had to call in for the maids to clean our room a couple times

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Big resort

Beautiful hotel. Very large even though we spent 99% of our time in the Ambar section. Food selection was great! Staff were always tending to our needs and were very friendly. Beach was stunning,water was crystal clear, woke up early and always found lounge chairs and hut right by the water. Lots of older people, 50+ on the Ambar side. I've been to another adults only and have found it to be quieter than the other if you're still looking to have a fun time.

We had a lovely vacation at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar. Staff were very friendly, attentive, always had a smile for you. Anything you needed, they were there.
