Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful

This was our first time in 12 visits to the Mayan Riviera staying at a Barcelo. It was excellent. The location of the pools, beach and rooms is perfect. You can get around easily to the sister hotels if you are looking for a change of scenery. Great gym, great food and everyone worked so hard to make your holiday great. Top hotel for us and we will be back!

Grand Oasis Cancun: Basic resort and bad staff

I have had a bad experience dealing with staff in the resort. The service was really bad and almost none of the staff speaks English. The food was really good and I liked the variety of options however all drinks are watered down and not good. The swimming pool was the best part of the vacation however we got kicked out at 8 pm everyday because they close it. The entire resort close at 11 pm so no clubs and nothing really to do other than walking around and going to sleep after 11. The room we g [... read more]ot was very basic and we actually lost the power on our last day where we had to call the receptionist. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great Resort

The resort was very clean, the staff were great, we had a swimout room and I would highly recommend spending the extra money on one, but if you do not like party and noise make sure you ask to not be by the party pool. Unfortunately we had no beach due to the extreme amount of seaweed washed up, but not the resorts fault.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: This resort is NOT a 5 star, very dated, not very clean!

I would not recommend this resort to anyone. There was no concierge, my phone did not work all week, asked 4 times to have it repaired. Had to asked for products. Patio door did not lock. Rooms not very clean…. Very dated. Grounds need A lot of TLC and to be cleaned. Pool was never cleaned, a lot of build up on the sides, needs a major clean. Beach was not cleaned, a lot of garbage. Chairs on the beach old, torn, dirty. Rooms, lobby, chair's, restaurants need a deep cleaning an [... read more]d a lot of TLC. Beach shower dirty, falling a part. Service in restaurants was good, the food was good, very limited seafood. I would consider this resort a 3 star only! Victoria, I was not happy at all with your recommendation and the price we paid for the week for this resort!

Riu Flamingos: Amazing Resorts

What an amazing trip!!! We spend 7 days at Riu Jalisco last week. I was amazed by the hotel cleanliness. We always seen someone cleaning jeeping everything organized. Entertainment was rhe highlights of the trip , great group of peoe high energy and always really excellent shows. Food was great more than we need however food and drinks were always available anytime of the day. I recommend this resort people with family or without...Definitely i will go back .

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Nice resort

Rooms were very nice, best bed yet! Third floor room very quiet. Food was good at the various reserved restaurants. Not a fan of the buffet, a lot of guests chose to not wait in lines. Hit and miss regarding using gloves and masks at the buffet. Children and young people sticking their hands into food i.e. nacho chips. Lots of wildlife including Monkeys which are very entertaining. Pools are good, however lounge chairs difficult to get unless you reserve a chair before 7 in the morning. Beach area nice, sometimes affected by seaweed, staff constantly working to keep seaweed down. Fairly large resort, lots of walking. Entertainment centre best set-up I’ve seen, entertainment itself average. Various other entertainment in bars, good. Good bar service around the pools, staff constantly on the go.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Better than expected

This is our second trip to El Dorado resorts by Karissa. Previous was with Royale. So our expectations were high. They were exceeded. We experienced some challenges which were from what challenges all resorts namely staffing. Our room was in some disrepair and lacked amenities like bathrobe etc. But these issues were expediently dealt with. Food was beyond superb though because of their capacity metering availability of reservations was hard. Got better as we were there. We got to go to all opti [... read more]ons. Spa was exquisite. Beach had a weed problem but they were cleaning daily for 10 hours a day and hauling seaweed away. By day 5 or 6 the seaweed was cleared and the water pristine . Best snorkeling. Many activities to choose from . We will go back

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing resort!

Grand Sirenis is absolutely beautiful! The grounds and wildlife really make the trip that much better. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, they go out of their way to make your day. There is a very large variety of food at every buffet that everyone will find something they like. The shows are beautiful and the performances are top notch. The pools are kept very clean and the swim up bars are easy to order from. The lines are never too long at any of the bars as the staff are very effic [... read more]ient. Lastly, I'd definitely recommend trying the Spa, we had a couples massage and enjoyed some relaxing time in their saunas and hot tubs.

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Compact resort, walking distance to Old Town

Our overall score for this resort is 7.5 out of 10. The good: - the location can't be beat, closest all-inclusive to old town and the marvelous Malecon shops and restaurants - compact, easy to get from your room to lobby to restaurants to pool to beach - super friendly service from every corner of the resort (even met and had a long and fruitful chat with the GM) - Sunset Restaurant is outstanding, Best place for a la carte breakfast and dinner. Great beachside views. - all grounds well-ma [... read more]intained, clean and highly attractive - our king renovated room with small balcony was modern, comfy and spotless - Mexican Fiesta night was a 10+. Food stations were well staffed, short lines, quality of the food was outstanding. Wonderful entertainment right on the beach. - Pools, though small, were clean and well-maintained. Of course, like every other resort, getting the best lounge chairs poolside required early morning towel and book placement. Never a problem on the beach. Lots of umbrellas. The not-so-good: - main buffet was hit and miss for dinner, OK for breakfast. - front desk staff, though patient and friendly, could use some more fluent English speakers - very few oceanfront/oceanview suites

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Beautiful resort!

This resort is starting to get dated, but still offered all the amenities and good service to make our stay a memorable one. The worst part would have to be the beach as it was overtaken by seaweed. I thought that all resorts in the Mayan Riviera had the same issue but saw photos of family and friends that stayed at different resorts which were able to clean the beach to make it swimmable. Luckily my kids were more focused on the swimming pools…

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Somewhat disappointed

Except for the past two years, we travel south yearly to all inclusive resorts and I always do my research before booking a resort. Most of the reviews about ABBWR are correct. The service is top notch, the grounds are beautiful, snorkeling is great right off the beach, there are no reservations required for the à la carte restaurants which are good and you never have to wait long to get a cold drink. Some of the things that were disappointing are the dated rooms which are large and kept clean  [... read more]but with faulty a/c, tv and thin walls; cold food at the buffet - unless you stand in line at the egg, meat or pasta stations, pretty much everything else will be cold. This can easily be fixed by having a better system to keep the food warm. The structures on the beach for shade don’t provide much and the pool beds are old with stained and dirty coverings. All in all finding shade at the beach or pool is difficult. The beach chairs are used, dirty and some are broken. Investing in new beach chairs and mattress covers would solve the problem. The larger pool isn’t that large and was not always kept clean. It is true that the staff are this resort’s greatest asset and probably why people return. Would we return…..probably not. The reasons: screaming and crying kids with parents who don’t seem to care or notice their poor behaviour, one puked in the pool, two had a big fight in the middle of the pool, the family next door to us had 2 kids who were fighting, screaming and throwing tantrums all the time. I think the father had enough one night, he left and arrived at 2:30 am, slamming the door and waking us up. We book a trip each year to get away for some rest and relaxation. This was not the most restful or relaxing vacation we’ve ever had which is why we would not return and have decided to only book adults only resorts from now on.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing experience

The area was spick and span. It was maintained quite well as the staff were super nice. Masks are still enforced in some spaces. The villas were also really spacious and were cleaned on a regular basis.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Our week stay in Grand Sirenis resort was very good !

The rooms in this hotel are very spacious and comfortable. We've got everything in our room we had asked for and we especially thank for that Tripcentral travel agent Karol Chareza. We enjoyed the beach very much. It was very clean although resort personnel was constantly fighting seaweed battle. The resort beach area is surrounded by big rocks which allows to swim and snorkel every day despite big ocean waves. The food was amazing and in big variety. Overall our vacation was great.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Very Disappointing

We have been to the Royal Decameron Complex over 15 times. Up to now, we have been very satisfied with the resort. My, how things have changed! The resort used to be much more welcoming to Canadians. Many staff have left because of COVID, and it appears as if the replacement staff does not have nearly the English speaking skills as their predecessors. In addition, signage was poor, and very little English was spoken. It appears as if the marketing has switched to Mexico, and away from Cana [... read more]da. The pools were disgustingly filthy. On most days, we could not see the bottom of the pool. Absolutely a health hazard. In our 1 week stay, 3 of the 5 pools were closed for at least a day in an attempt to clean them. Never before, have we seen line-ups out the door for any of the buffets, even when the resort was at 100% capacity. This trip, the resort was not full, yet the line-ups persisted. COVID protocols required all staff to wear masks at all times. Guests had to wear masks in restaurants until seated, and throughout the night show. Performers also wore masks, which really destroyed the entertainment value of the show. In addition, the shows have been cut short, and now are barely 45 minutes long. Plexiglass screens at bars and the lobby were annoying, only adding to the communication problem. A la carte restaurants no longer have menus due to COVID. Instead, the waiter rattled-off the selections, and a quick decision had to be made. The relaxing dinners at the Piccolo Restaurant have turned into a 43-minute race to finish. Perhaps this review would be more positive if we had never been to the resort before. We will likely never return.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Wonderful Resort, Mostly!

We had a wonderful 10 day stay at this Barcelo. The hotel and all the amenities were topnotch, the staff were friendly, helpful and professional, our room was luxurious and the weather was just right! The only aspect that really disappointed us was the food. Whether at the buffet or at the specialty restaurants, the quality and variety weren't up to the standards we've come to expect from this resort chain. We eventually managed to get a translated card from the concierge to show to the serving folks, but they never seemed too interested in helping me understand what my gluten-free options were. We presumed that this may well be due to covid supply chain challenges, so hopefully things change soon again as we'd love to come back here again!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Do not go --want some sort of a refund!

While the entertainment and food were good--the beach was an absolute disaster! The picture on this review is NOT what it looks like. Seaweed--all brown the entire beach, no swimming. There were men piling it up on the shore and dump trucks daily taking it away. The noise of dump trucks on the beach all day with smell of rotting seaweed and gas. The piles and piles of seaweed were left on the shore to rot overnight and the entire Yukatan beach side had a rot smell all day! We deserve a r [... read more]efund to travel that far without ever being told this is a huge problem in mexico right now! The Yucatan side of the resort is run down, with chipped paint in the rooms and linens had pulls all over them. The staff were friendly and kind. We also had an incident of a man following our teenage daughters. This was disturbing as it was rumored that he is there often.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great resort

Everything was awesome! Great food, friendly staff, great service. Only issue was the seaweed on the beach. The pools were fantastic though and the bartenders were on point. The restaurants were all top notch.

Grand Sunset Princess: Wouldn’t visit here again

We simply just don’t think the resort reflects what it is rated and what you pay to visit. The grounds are beautiful but everything else could use a significant upgrade. The water park for kids is run down, although our son did enjoy his time there. There are additional costs all over the resort - we had to pay to access water park and to access the buffet (food was left sitting longer as there were less people visiting so instead of paying for better food it was worse than what was offered at [... read more] the main buffet). The rooms are also run down and our bed linens were not changed once during the time spend there. Our bathroom shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. The staff is not friendly at all and they expect you to have money in hand to give you any sort of relatively good service. Long lines for specialty items at buffets (e.g pasta/omelette bar) and not enough variety. A la cartes were difficult to book through app and the food was not good enough to reflect a five star hotel as someone who has travelled to mexico several times. Two of the a la cartes shared the same menu. Also we travelled with our son and while we got to the restaurant first two seperate parties were served drinks before us as we waited for over 25 minutes to be looked after, even after making eye contact with several employees and being ignored and overlooked. The beach is not nice. Riviera Maya is really struggling with seaweed rig hr now so if you travel for the beach do not go here or anywhere on this strip as it is truly suffering unfortunately. Limited night life available. Advertised disco and casino are not in operation. Overall not worth what we paid for this trip ..would have fathered spent a little more to get a lot more from other resorts we’ve previously been to!

Breathless Cabo San Lucas: Great Location

Hotel Rooms - Great - Always clean, great view of Marina, Large deck area. ( Fridge did not work but we just ran down and got our drinks if we needed any in our room) Food - Honestly was expecting better. Maybe set my standards too high. Was good but not great. Pools - Only 2 - Quiet pool  [... read more]was great. Overlooking Marina. Great service. Pool overlooking ocean would have been good but you have buy bottle service to be around pool. As members, this was disappointing. Ended up sitting on beach which was great. Small area to swim but at least you get to go in water to cool off. Location - The best - Had great hikes daily ( 2 hours each) - highly recommend them all. Rescue Dog shelter hike was amazing, Pedragal ( Sp?) area is beautiful and if you hike up through there you see some amazing homes and hit a different beach ( Not swimmable but beautiful ) which was fantastic - a must see. ( Take water to drink on all hikes - steep at times and gets hot) The Marina was great, tons of restaurants but had too many vendors trying to sell you things. You get immune to it after a day or so, but still not my favourite. TO DO - Take a cab to San Jose and Do the " Art Walk " - Some amazing talent ! I am not an artist but I enjoyed this immensely. We didn't do the tour and found it very good.
