Four of us booked a trip the last two weeks in April. It was a very clean, pretty and busy resort. All Staff wore masks, hand sanitizers everywhere and public areas were kept very clean. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and excellent, especially Marcelle, Marlene, Maria and Ross around the pool area. Food was pretty good, fresh and no issues with anything bad. Drinks were good. Pool chairs were plentiful. We played tennis every day and found out you must reserve a spot at the gym,[... read more] concierge knew nothing about reservations. The resort was very loud with lots of parties and weddings. There were no quiet areas to get away and relax and have a conversation with friends without yelling over loud bands in a tiny room. We had a great time but would definitely go to other resorts over this one.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Incredible resort/ stay
The resort was great from check in to check out. The service was second to none. The restaurants were all great and easy to get reservations. Pools and activities were all lots of fun. Grounds were well maintained with workers constantly working. I would definitely return to this resort. Only downfall was the beach, seaweed made it unusable - but that’s nature and completely out of control of the resort.

Royal Solaris: Ok resort
All good, but we got a horrible room.
We were suppose to get garden view, we got shipping alley view.
We were suppose to get deluxe room, we got standard room.
We were suppose to get king size bed or two double beds, we got one
double bed. Very frustrating. And they treat us as second d hand citizen
since all they do and want is to trap you into their membership club. Very
frustrating, we have never felt like we are dig shit. After we complained about our room they wanted us to pay extr[... read more]a per day to provide us a better

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Beautiful Resort... had a number of issues though....
The resort is gorgeous, the setting perfect....right on the beach, lovely pool, restaurants and great for kids.
These are the issues I had....
1. we could only find 1 English channel on TV....Fox news...that's it.... we called reception multiple times and they kept telling us which channels were in English...but they were not....then we were not able to get Netflix.... they ended up giving us a new TV.... but it was never programmed to use netflix...I was with my 80 year old mother and sh[... read more]e really wanted to watch TV, so it was a problem.
2. The food really was not great, did not seem 4 star to me and I'm not a fussy eater. The Italian restaurant in my opinion had the best food. The day I arrived I asked to be booked at each restaurant, turns out I was only booked at 3 out of the 6....then it was too late to get in.
3. They really need an English speaking person at reception at all times....it made communication very difficult.
4. Our toilet was blocked for 3 days and the room smelled really bad. I asked many times....
5. I was told that there was a doc on site, but I had to pay $120 for them to call a doctor for my mother, had the person at reception understood, they could have explained.
6. There is a list of activities, I downloaded the app...but it does not tell you where to go to par take in the activities.
7. The floors must be cleaned with bleach, I threw my dirty clothes on the floor in the corner of the room and one of my dresses is completely ruined as it is marked with bleach stains
The good things...
1. Great entertainment
2. Beautiful location
3. Very close to shops
4. Close walk to 4th Avenue

Las Brisas Huatulco: Special place !
Very nice vacations ! We went a first time in 2016 and we had really enjoyed the place. We decided to go back in April 2022 and we were not disappointed ! Bullet points style :
* Staff : super nice. Big improvement from 2016. They were ok in 2016 but now they really are a lot more friendly and entertaining. Waitresses and very kind, with a good sense of humor. Men waiters are a little less friendlier in general but there are some very nice so I don't want to generalize. Barman very good and f[... read more]un. The ''gardeners'' watering the plants in the morning are very polite and kind. Room cleaning ladies, very kind and polite. Reception super nice. Golf cart driver super dedicated and working hard. Overall we really enjoyed the staff. It's very ''spanish oriented''. Most of them speak good english, but not excellent. Who cares, we can communicate and they are very kind. I don't think that there is a lot of french speaking staff... (again... not a problem for the majority of clients).
* Rooms : very clean, spacious, everything worked well.
* Covid related measures : very well. Very prudent. I would even say that some measures are too much (I'm careful, but not paranoing with covid). Like when the staff work outside and not directly speaking with clients... like the room cleaning ladies and the gardeners... working under the crazy son at 40 celcius, wearing a mask all day.... that's a little too much I find. But... I understand that it's probably requested for the highest protection standards. Poor them. But big thank you for enduring this.
* Gym : big gym, very clean.
* Food : Excellent buffet. We only tried one ''a la carte'' resto (Solarium-Steakhouse) which was pretty good. Weird but it was the only time that we found the service ''cold''. They all looked stressed, rushed although they were like 8 waiters for about 50 clients (??? I worked as a waiter for 10 years and each waiter had sections of 30 to 60 clients so I can't understand the rush for 8 clients per waiter... lol). The buffet is excellent. I heard that the Marocan resto was very very good. We missed it.
* Beach : super clean, very enjoy-full. Beautiful ! Little reef pretty fun for basic snorkelling. Beware not to get caught by the wave that can throw you on the coral... could be hurtful. Otherwise very interesting. My only deception was that we could not swim from the ''secret Beach side''. In 2016, there was a sign ''swim at your own risk'' and I had amazing snorkelling all week in that bay. However, I'm an experienced snorkeler who love waves and adrenaline. I admit that the water could be rough. Now, 2022, they switch the sign to ''not allowed / prohibited'' and I had not noticed it. The guard caught me on our first day and warn us not go... so we didn't. I was very disappointed as it was the main thing I was looking up to... but I understand. It's rough water... currents, waves, rocks... The main beach is fun enough.
General layout: It's built on hills and the weather was crazy hot ! 35-40 celcius all week. So it can be difficult for some people to walk around from the room to the restos or the beach. We personally like it as it makes us burn calories before consuming some extra ones at the buffet lol. But anyway, they have a very effective transport system across the resort with little trucks and golf carts like. The view points offer superb views of the ocean the coast, etc...
Overall we love this resort. We would go back in a heartbeat (depending on the deals/price). 4/5... maybe 4.5/5
Too bad that there is no direct flight from Ottawa and the our experience with Air Canada was terrible this time. My review on Air Canada will be mainly negative. And I hate complaining but they were really terrible. My girlfriend is now scared of buying a trip that is not a direct flight following this experience. It took us 27 hours and 2 stops to get there... We went to Philippines in 2011 and I took us 24 hours (2 stops)... how can it take even more time to get from Canada to Mexico ? anyway...

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: nice time!!
The hotel was wonderful with grounds well kept . Food was great. and service and friendliness of the wait staff was superb. The check in counter staff was sometimes good , sometimes not so good. (One of the girls wanted my passport to exchange a 20 US dollar bill to pesos, but the next day the most friendly gentleman behind the counter exchanged it for me, no questions asked.
My only beef with the hotel was that there was never any chairs by the pool or the beach. People would always put t[... read more]heir towels on the chair in the very early morning and not come back. So their chairs were taken for the day.
Otherwise, I had no complaints..
It was a nice get away.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Excellent Resort
stayed 7 days at Dreams Jade and had a wonderful time. Originally booked a tropical view but were able to upgrade to an oceanfront preferred suite upon check-in (additional cost) which we felt was well worth it as we had a beautiful ocean front room on 3rd level building #9 right on the beach. Able to sit out on balcony and watch the beach and watercraft activity. Preferred room also provided separate living room which gave us more privacy as my husband and i were travelling with our 19 year old[... read more] daughter who liked to sleep in. Preferred status also allowed us to have continental breakfast and lunch wraps etc in exclusive area which we appreciated rather than going to main buffet for breakfast and lunch.
Grounds were beautiful and well maintained, pools were pristine, food was very good and service excellent. Unfortunately large amounts of seaweed in water- so really couldn't swim in ocean or walk along beach comfortably. Staff were constantly cleaning seaweed from beach but hard for them to keep up as it kept rolling in. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room very clean and comfortable. Poolside entertainment was great, nightly entertainment was just okay. Room service app didn't work for us and no one answered the room service phone so we weren't able to take advantage of that. Chose not to participate in the Vacation Club presentation as we did not want to be harassed. Weather beautiful, ventured off on free shopping excursion to Playa Del Carmen (great) and took $10 cab ride to Puerto Morelos which we enjoyed. Felt very safe at all times.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Fabulous resort!!
The service in this hotel was seamless from the moment we arrived till when we left, we were treated like VIP’s.
The Covid protocols were fairly strict-all hotel staff wore masks. Masks were required in the buffet restaurants except while eating. All the public areas were meticulously cleaned and sanitized. Our suite was spacious and all mechanics functioned perfectly. Housekeeping was meticulous in cleaning and sanitizing our room.
The food choices were excellent-buffet,seafood,steak and up[... read more]scale if you so desired. The food was tasty and well served and the wine choices were broad.
The beach and water was overgrown with seaweed due to climate changes but the hotel cleaned it everyday throughout the day making beach walking a good experience. The pools were excellent-spotless and you could always get a spot by the pool.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Not so amazing
To start I have to say we have been to the Royal Decameron at least 10 time prior to this trip and loved it, I can’t say that about this trip. They are short staffed for sure, but there are rule for some that other don’t follow and aren’t enforced. You couldn’t sit at a pool bar because all the tables and chairs were removed by these guest with no consideration for other guest. As for food we never had a hot meal there unless it was breakfast and you ordered Eggs or omelettes. The pools [... read more]were never crystal clear as they always were in previous trip two were even closed our last two days there, they were green. We will never go back unfortunately, the staff work extremely hard, they really need more help. The Decameron is really in need of upgrading and maintenance that is much needed.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Great resort but could use a little updating.
I visited this resort back in 2011when it was a Now resort. It was in pristine condition and everything was great. Revisiting 11 years later, while the staff is still fantastic, there is some general repair that doesn't seem to have been done and so the pricing is a little high. While still a great resort with lots of dining options, attentive servers and bar staff, perhaps not to the same standard it used to be. Minor things, our safe had to be repaired 5 times, robes and slippers had to be[... read more] asked for, cleaning was done so late in the day we just declined it on our last day. Great things is that you could always get chairs and shade on the beach and we were able to get chairs and shade at the pool and adult pool no problem. We would drop a towel on chairs on to the way to breakfast and then go after, so bums in chairs by 930am. However if you slept in your only option was the beach.
I would probably not come during seaweed season again as I love to frolic in the ocean, and while you still could it just wasn't as nice. Also, I saw comments about huge line ups for dining and the longest we waited was for dinner one night for maybe 15 minutes, but we sat and had a drink. Otherwise a great trip, a lovely resort, maybe priced a little too high.
The hotel grounds was great. Rooms were all close to main pool, wave pool, lazy river and the water park. The rooms were outdated and wished there were more options. Food was great but wished they had more options for kids. The entertainment crew was good for both kids and adults. If you like your rooms to be cold, need to ask hotel to override the AC controls. Set at 22 degrees C.
Overall, great resort and lots to do but rooms needs to be updated.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great time at the Coba
We just returned from the Bahia Principe Gran Coba and had a wonderful.time. We had no complaints about this resort. The room was clean, the food was great and the staff were wonderful. The only complaints we could have about the resort are that it is very large with alot of walking, and the beach area was not the greatest, but both of these things we knew about before we went. As far as Covid 19 concerns, they are very diligent on sanitizing the roomss and common areas and also strict on wearin[... read more]g masks in the restaurants, lobby and shopping areas. Which made us feel very comfortable and safe. The only legitimate complaint that we have about the entire trip is the length of travel time. Having to fly with a connecting flight through Toronto from Halifax and the 2+ hour bus ride fom the airport to the resort, made for a 14 hour day. We really only had 6 days at the resort because we didn't get there until after 6pm and had to leave again on the last day before 10am. Overall, this was a great trip. Our agent Robyn was great and Tripcentral made everything easy for booking and any request we had. I would definitely book again with them

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Huge resort
The resort overall was nice. It’s very big, but easy to figure out once you are there. The rooms are clean, a bit dated as are most of the other buildings. I was disappointed that for a 7 day stay you can only book 3 a la cartes and there is no room service. The bus ride to the resort is very long as it stops at many other resorts and this one is the furthest- would recommend a private transfer. Also, there were no servers around the pools or beach area for drinks- had to get them yourself. Th[... read more]e beach area is very small with no food options, the area has a lot of rocks and coral- definitely need water shoes. The nighttime entertainment was really good with lots of variety. The staff are very nice, and helpful when they can be. There are shops located just a trolley ride away which was nice. There is also a doctor on-site which was great since I needed to visit after an unexpected incident happened. Overall the resort is nice, clean, good food, god drinks and very nice staff.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very average resort
3 stars resort in reality. Beach is marina for small boats, surrounded by 6-7 breakwaters with few piers, water is shallow, full of algae and brown - that's why everybody is in the pool. Pool is too full and shallow as well. You need to go out before 6 am to get spot in the shade.
