Hotel Playa Paraiso: A lovely clean resort.

Finally a resort with clean bathrooms in public areas AND lots of toilet paper. We Loved the food. Recommend priority club for the preferred seating area at the beach. The staff were all very nice. 8th time to Cuba and this place was the best

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Older resort, rooms were kept exceptionally clean

Maintenance of grounds is above other resorts in area. Beach area was cleaned, raked daily, lots of new shade palapas were being built. Excellent beach area, lots of nice sand. Older resort just needs a little extra maintenance for small details, eg. fixing of some sidewalks, paths. A la carte restaurants were exceptional.

Hotel Playa Coco: Good resort!

and night. Disadvantages: a lot of mosquitos,the toilet in the room did not flush on their own, we used a bucket of water constantly. Bead sheets changed only once a week and were not fresh, have many holes.We did not have receipts in the local bank when exchange of money.

Hotel Playa Coco: Friendly staff

The staff was very friendly. I went with my five daughters ages 19 17 17 8 and 8. Although there was no kids club open the younger ones had plenty of fun in the ocean and pools. The entertainment staff was fairly good although some of the activities were a little difficult for them to get people involved. The nightly entertainment was ok. They did have 1/2 hr for the little ones witch they did really enjoy. The later entertainer was ok. The beach was fairly rocky and hard to get into unless you walked down the beach closer to memories resort which wasn't really that far. We had 2 adjoining rooms that we couldn't open till 1/2 way through the trip and only 1 working toilet between the 2 rooms which never got fixed. The food was ok. Not a lot of variety but saying that no one went hungry. Pasta bar was a favourite at the buffet and the pool grill hamburger and fries were frequented often by my girls. All in all it was a good vacation. Remember that Cuba is not as high end as some other places and you will enjoy your stay.

Hotel Vigia: Ok vacation

We advised the hotel I had a hip issue and we were given a room at the extreme end of the resort. The door was so difficult to open to our room my daughter had to throw her weight into the door to get it open. They didn't have a new room for us closer until two days later. The food was so so and the staff didn't give you good service unless you tipped well. Didn't feel we got good value for the money.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great people

Staff tried very hard to please guests. There is a supply and demand problem at times, sometimes there are no hamburgers, no calamari or towels etc it is very clean, every staff person is friendly and try to please, they are good with the kids too. Entertainment was good.

Sol Cayo Coco: Wonderful

First time out of Canada in 24yrs....it was all I was hoping for. Enjoyed my stay and can't wait to return to Cuba. Sol was lovely, seems to have the best beaches in my opinion on my beach walkabouts.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Excellent vacation destination

Ok food ok rooms ok pool great beach excellent staff. If kite boarding is your thing this is probably the best spot in the world to learn how. Pilar beach is amazing but the one in the resort isn't far off. Talk to the guys at the paddleboat shack for snorkeling. Way cheaper than the catamaran.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Very Nice Resort

The Resort was very clean in and out of our room.The Staff was very friendly and helpful and the Priority Dinner was very enjoyable.Our Host Agusto made the evening very memorable and a lot of fun.There were no major issues other than trying to get clean Beach towels.Floors were very slippery when wet and we did see several people fall because of it including myself.The Beach was very crowded but Priority area was fine.There was never a lineup for dinner and the food was good but not much variet [... read more]y .

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great resort!

Everything was good! Food - we had lobsters at the buffet, which is I'm surprised because this is never happened to us from last two visit that we hah in Cayo coco. Buffet food was really good! Beach - absolutely beautiful, calm and my daughter enjoyed so much! Room - I am disappointed in our room because our bed was smells so bad even told to the mid it she do anything about it. I have to ask to change the our sheet everytime - if you don't ask they will not change it

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good overall vacation with some issues

When we got to this resort our first impression was uncertainty, it felt a little 'disjointed' somehow. After a few days once we got the feel for it and figured out where everything was on this large resort it felt a little different but I am still on the fence as to whether or not we would return. This was our second visit to Cuba and our third all inclusive resort. CHECK-IN: Similar to what you likely read in other reviews, they did check in as a group and it was pretty organized. I liked the [... read more] idea, however when there is a big group sometimes I found it hard to hear what the staff were saying and had to clarify afterwards. We got there around 1130am so our rooms weren't ready, I was glad I brought a towel with me as you cannot get your towels without a room key! They told us our rooms wouldn't be ready until 3 or 4 but we were able to get into our room around 2pm. ROOM: This is a great feature of the hotel, I had high expectations based on the great reviews that I was reading before we came about the modern rooms and I was pleased. We requested a higher up room with a king bed and got building 2 , and happy our requests were met during this busy time. We had a shower only, which was too bad as I like my baths but no big deal. Our room faced the pool but we had some greenery for privacy which was nice. I would not recommend this building to anyone with small children or who is a light sleeper. One night I heard what must have been the disco at 2am, another night there was a party from 10pm - 1 am at the pool bar which felt like it was right outside our window! Other nights we could hear people partying but luckily still managed to sleep okay. The beds are a bit hard and by the last couple of nights my boyfriend and I were both complaining of sore backs when we woke up. We also lost water completely on 2 occasions, once at the beginning of our trip and our last morning before checkout - thank goodness we had showered the night before. Filling up the toilet with the dribbling hot water from the tap was not a fun time but we were left with no choice if we wanted to flush! The water pressure the first few days was awful more like a sprinkle, but seemed to get better as the week went on. Beware of sudden temperature changes in the shower! BEACH We didn't spend a lot of time on the beach. The first morning after we arrived I went down before 7am to reserve a chair, I hate doing this but our previous experience showed us that sometimes it is necessary if you want a place to sit! This is totally not necessary to do that early in the am at this hotel at the beach or the pool. Someone ended up stealing one of our towels and one of our friends towels, at a cost of 15 CUC this was not a great way to start our vacation. The beach has 3 rows of huts so LOTS of shade and no real reason to rush down super early for a chair, the sun comes up from the opposite direction so there isn't a lot of sun all morning to tan in. The one day we ended up going back up to the pool so we could tan better. The beach is also quite rocky so I highly recommend water shoes - however - our friends discovered an awesome spot where this isn't needed. If you don't need to be close to the beach bar, walk to the left side of the beach, past the boat launch and there is a little slice of heaven between resorts. 2CUC per chair for a day, but you get the good blue pool chairs instead of uncomfortable beach ones. The beach has no rocks we spent our last day there and it was amazing. Just beware there is no shade. I also highly recommend renting a paddle boat, such a fun time! POOL The pools are lovely, we stayed by the pool closest to our room which was also close to the big snack bar and supposedly the "quiet" pool. Great layout, very clean and we spent a lot of time here. There seemed to be a lot of big families or big groups who loved to party and be very loud at this hotel which was not our thing but throw in some earbuds and you are golden! The snack bar made the best drinks. FOOD I wasn't overly impressed with the main buffet food for dinner. It was good if you had patience to wait in a long line to get some fresh cooked meat or pasta. I would recommend more food stations or better managed food stations but this hotel definitely has a lot of potential. Breakfast was good, again, some line ups but the omelettes were delicious same with crepes/pancakes as well... lots of yummy pastries. The a la cartes were very very good as well. I got sick at one point with a stomach bug, not sure where it came from as no one else seemed to get it around me. As far as drinks, the lobby bar made great coffee and so did the snack bar. I had mixed experiences at the lobby bar with the alcoholic drinks, some were delicious others not so much. The snack bar had consistently delicious drinks, Papa Jr will set you up!! ATMOSPHERE/STAFF As usual in Cuba the staff were lovely and warm, we loved our server Yunier who always treated us wonderfully and we always made sure to sit in his section. Where the hotel has some room for growth the staff is amazing. The lobby bar was probably my favourite part of the hotel, big, open, relaxing and great entertainment every night. If I were to go back it would be for the lobby, the staff, and the little gem of a spot we found on the beach - these things were good enough to eclipse the other issues. BUGS This hotel is still being completed and there is a lot of standing water around - so there was a lot of mosquitoes (at least I think that's what they were..). I got bitten pretty much every day - some of the bites turned into big welts that would stay for a few days. Thank goodness I read reviews and brought after bite! We saw a lot of people with awful looking red bites all over their back or legs, thankfully this didn't happen to us but I wonder if it was sand fleas since we weren't at the beach a lot. All in all we had a good vacation with a few hiccups, I believe with a few adjustments that this hotel has a lot of potential. We are both pretty easy going people but for this review, the reason I gave 3 instead of 4 was just the number of little things that seemed to add up for us.

This is our second stay at the Hotel Colonial and we have had great experoences both time. The Hotel is clean the food is good and the grounds are kept immaculate. The employees are the best at this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great resort!

Me and my husband stayed for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The staff was great and very friendly! The room was always very clean and our fridge was always stocked with beer and drinks! We stayed over New Years and they put on a wonderful buffet with every type of food you could imagine! After they had a fabulous Michael Jackson show and a fun countdown. All equipped with personal bags full of party hats, noise makers and streamers! The beach was very nice! Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing resort !

We just came back a week ago.Vocation was wonderful ! MCG is really beautiful (a hope,that management will invest some money and will renovate hotel rooms)because it is very outdated .Service is great (we had problem with TV and it's been fixt with in cople of minutes)room was always clean .Food was good,a lot to try ,buffet was great. Hotel Camino del Mar: Great Resort, Amazing people!

This resort is the perfect size, everything is central and doesn't require a lot of walking. The beach is incredible and the different colours of the water are mesmerizing. What makes the resort is the people who run it, they are so friendly and personable and make every meal very enjoyable. Guillermo, Tony, and Edel are great servers in the buffet, make sure you get to know them! The only downfall is the little bugs, bring bug spray with lots of deet!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: I've been to better in Cuba

Overall the Memories is just an average or OK resort. I would not rate it 5 stars unfortunately. 3 major things brought this rating down - 1) The food was not great, 2) No beach towel service all week and 3) Really bad bugs. With regards to the food, the a la cartes were good but you can only book 3 nights. So we were very sick of the buffet by the end of the week and I didn't see much variation in the buffet offerings. 2) Towel service did not get exchanged all week. Imagine your stinking beach [... read more] towels after a day. Enough said. 3) The bugs. I thought we could handle the bugs...but the issue is there are many sand flies. And you don't see them or feel them biting you. I used repellent but I don't even think it worked. The bites take a few days to show up too. My legs were COVERED in bites. I still have scabs from them. I'm not even exaggerating my husband counted 40 bites on my back and I had almost 100 on my legs. They only liked certain people. For whatever reason my husband did not get bit and neither did my son. But if you are prone to bug bites, I would highly recommend another resort. The pluses of the place was that the service was great - and the wait staff is very appreciative if you tip. Our room was fantastic as we had a suite with an extra room and bathroom and we even got upgraded to oceanview so that was great! I would say if you're not prone to bug bites and you get a good deal on this place...it's still worth going. But if you are looking for a premium place and the prices are high, consider somewhere else.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great Value

A very clean resort with terrific staff and great value for money. No beach at high tide, but lovely water and a world class location for kite surfing. Hope the new management replaces every toilet in the place! That said, I will go again next year.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Friendly resort!

Small resort, but very friendly. Good food, lots of entertainment, and the weather was amazing! Beach is one of the nicest around. Clean, shallow, good for families. Lots of sun beds, pool very clean. Amazing staff!!

Sol Cayo Coco: Cosy resort

Nice beach, bathrooms outdated, good food, public washrooms lack of soap and toilet paper, hotel needs updated, average entertainment. Lack of information for hotel events. Grounds well kept. Beach restaurant should serve drinks during the day before 12:30--and after 2:30. Too far to walk to the beach bar.

a lot of walking, no lights at night walking on the paths, they have a towel shortage, so you have to re-use your towels all week. other than that, it was a great trip, great people, food was great, beach was small but was nice. pool and pool bar was great, entertainment was great especially the Michael Jackson show.
