Loved it the resort is huge 3 pool areas good drinks always entertainment going on day and night beautiful beach food well it's cuba buffet not so great but can't complain overall. Food in the market and ala carte better but a great week for sure sun and fun

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great Value

Very clean hotel and grounds, very friendly and helpful staff. Entertainment staff were awesome and kept things rockin' all day long. Just don't count on getting a fresh beach towel everyday. Everyone kept getting promised everyday but didn't see a fresh towel for the whole week. Besides that we had an awesome time.

Melia Las Dunas: great vacation for the price

Great vacation! Beautiful resort, pools and beaches. Food was good. Lots of variety to chose from. Rooms are basic but clean. Bring face clothes. We did have to move due to musty smell from ventalation which bothered my allergies. They did move us to a better room quickly with no fuss. Great for families and adults wanting a quiet time as resort has an adult pool where kids are not aloud. We had to ask for clean towels a couple times as well as water for our room. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Friendly Resort!

Enjoyed our stay at the Sol Cayo Santa Maria. Clean rooms, typical Cuban food, great staff! Usual disconnect in communication between resort & original booking - went with a handicapped traveller (in a wheelchair). Resort did not provide walk-in showers and.2-3 steps up into rooms. Luckily traveller was able to walk a little. Nice a la carte Cuban restaurant.....Italian not so good. Friendly and helpful staff, better than average contact with Sunwing rep at the resort. Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great Stay!

Had a great week at this resort. The staff were wonderful, always eager to help with a smile on there faces. Beaches are beautiful, the sand is like powder. The lobby bar had wonderful entertainment nightly, some very talented musicians and singers. There was a guy doing magic tricks also which was fun. Now the not so good...the rooms were not cleaned to my standards. The beds were made daily but sheets changed once. If you are going for the food, don't go Cuba. Al a carte was not so good but the staff tried to make them seem upscale which I appreciated. The pool area was clean and very big so not to hard to find a spot but if you want a sunny spot put your towel out early. Overall awesome week, would recommend

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort --very clean pools and beach water

room service is excellent, main dinning and bar service is also excellent no wifi or phone service, great people but speaking English very little, I feels entertainment is very boring, very relax resort

Valentin Perla Blanca: Pathetic, don't go there!!!

Nice beach, although became too crowded after Sunwing opened part of the hotel recently. Uneatable, unhygenically prepared food. Buffets and restaurants look like zoo with lines, pushing, empty trays etc. Service and information non existent, as no one cares. Manager always absent

Eurostars has everything you need for a great holiday. The hotel is new and modern. Beautiful beach and amazing pools. The hotel is very well managed. The staff are friendly. Particularly enjoyed suberb service from Lauren and Santo in the main buffet. And we loved Ronnie (animation) We had 3 birthdays on our vacation and he made a special presentation on stage after show.The food was good(keeping in mind it is Cuba). Memories Paraiso: amazing resort

From start to end, this amazing resort filled our needs for a wonderful vacation! The food was pretty good! The entertainment was good! The grounds were kept clean and beautiful! The beach was amazing! All staff we came in contact with, bus staff, chamber maid, information desk, checkin/checkout staff, food/restaurant staff, lobby/bar staff and sunwing staff, were all nice and willing to serve/help with a smile. Melia Las Dunas: For Cuba this is an excellent resort

No complaints about resort, rooms, service or food quality and selection. All the staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Only complaint I have is for the fumigating they were doing 3 or 4 times a day Smelled quite a bit.

Melia Las Dunas: awesome resort

The grounds were beautiful, beach was awesome. Food was actually not bad compared to what I've been told. I just wouldn't recommend the buffet. Everything else was good.. I like how they have the beer gardens open 24 hours for a snack any time and when leaving for departure at 5 am it's nice to be able to eat. Especially when you have kids. The kids club was ok ..my son enjoyed it. I would definitely go back.

Melia Las Dunas: Las Dunas overbooked - we got Bumped!

spent the week at Melia Cayo Santa Maria. It was smaller than Las Dunas and for me was a better set up - tennis next to lobby, bigger less crowded beach than Las Dunas, More mature foliage around the pool. Excellent service and good food - I certainly cannot complain. A wonderful break from Canada's cold.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Room for a lot of improvement

I was prepared for some inconsistencies in service given the resort is new, however, no clean towels, two days our room wasn't cleaned, a lack of food, a lack of staff - stay away from this resort!!!!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great family holiday

We stayed at this hotel at one of the busiest times of the year and it was at or near capacity yet given the welldesigned layout of resort, including 4 pools, space was not a problem. There were always chairs available at one of the pools or the beach, regardless of the time of day. Restaurant options were great and the quality and variety available at the main buffet was appreciated by our whole group. Rooms are fine although could use some upgrading, especially with towels. Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful and friendly resort!

All the time when we are going on vacation to Cuba we know in advance that it will be friendly staff and beautiful maintaining resort. Returning just few days ago from Melia Las Dunas we got everything what we expected. Food was amazing with a lot selection of meat, fish, good cheese and other food. At lunch time at Sea Food restaurant you can get amazing grilled fish and calamari that you never ever eat before! The room vas pretty big and always sparkles after visit of cleaning lady. The small market on the end of resort was very cute and full of souvenirs. The most impression was a scuba diving trip! The Scuba Diving centre was with new equipment and very professional team. And not so expensive as you may pay in other countries. It was a great week of vacation for my family!

Melia Las Dunas: Nice Resort, but a couple disapointments

My Fiancé and I travelled to Cuba the week of January 4th-11th, 2015. The resort was very nice, and well placed and the pools were beautiful. It is my first time going to Cuba so I was pre-warned about the food, but it really wasn't that bad. The fish from the buffet is really tasty and so is the Pizza and the pasta from the fresh pasta bar. In the bigger buffet area they have more of a selection, not really foods I like to eat but we definitely did not starve. The snack bar by the adult pool [... read more] is by far the best (much better then the 24 hour beer garden snack bar). The food was always hot and fresh and tasty, whereas the same foods being served at the beer garden snack bar were always cold and kind of stale tasting. The a la carts were just OK, Mexican being my least favourite (service not the greatest, not very friendly, kind of rushy), the Italian and Romantica being the best. Italian had great service and good food/wine, same with Romantica but they also had an amazing pianist playing and dancers who also came in. Cons: The pool was beautiful but very cold. The day we arrived we went to get beach towels, but were told they had none. When we asked when they would get more, they didn't know (today, tomorrow, next week???)! We ended up getting some towels the next day, but only because we waiting in line for 15 minutes at 8:00 a.m. and they were out again by noon. We only got fresh towels twice the whole week. If you want a seat by the pool (beach was red flagged all week due to winds), you must go early or there will be no spots left. No hot water in the room for three days! this was inconvenient considering it is a five star resort. No French fries for three days! No Pizza the one day! The room was clean but I did find a cockroach in my suitcase on the third day. We were on the main level, so perhaps that's how it got into our room. Service was good ... most of the time! There was one bartender in particular who just looked right through me every time I went to order a drink, keep in mind I was tipping every single time I ordered something. The other staff was good and attentive but just the one bartender was not very friendly, I think he was sick. Pros: Maid was excellent, very sweet, cleaned our room and made nice things with our curtains everyday. Beach is stunning Carlos from the Buffet is awesome, very friendly and provided excellent service Misleidy from the Buffet was also amazing, very sweet and provided great service. The resort was easy to get to accustomed to, the main lobby was in the centre of everything. The night time shows were excellent ... a lot of fun. Cappuccinos and specialty coffees = Amazing I liked that they had an adult pool side, it made it very relaxing to sit by the pool Overall a nice relaxing vacation, I think the resort likely overbooked for the resources they have available to accommodate and for this reason I likely wouldn't return to this resort. I think had it not been so busy, the "cons" of our trip probably could have been avoided!

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful beach

We just stayed at MLD over New Years 2015. The hotel was very clean, very nice. The people were extremely friendly. The food was a little underwhelming but we didn't really care about that. We would definitely go back. The beach was so amazing and as the resort was so huge we always had something to do. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Dwindle, dwindle little stars!

Breathtaking lobby overlooking the ocean. Lobby bar with amazing entertainment in am, and at night. Very modern facilities with a variety of pools at east and west side of this HUGE resort,- west side quieter! Great beach, but steep incline at all 3 access/entrances, Cant figure out why stairs were not extended?! Coffee bar in lobby excellent. Rooms spacious and clean. We had no problems with towels or room cleaning. Food ... not very good or appetizing for the most part. Breakfast, and lunch fo [... read more]od, yes lots of variety, but often did not recognize food stuffs. We ened up making our own sub sandwiches at lunch and taking them to the pool. Dinner, repetitious, lots of mystery casseroles, and just blah! A la carte restaurants, good, (if you can get reservations) b/c you get served, forget the fact that you will be told many items are not available, - just enjoy the drinks and quiet ambience of the restaurants, - compared to the noisy buffet! We had a very nice time as our vacation focus was to enjoy the warm weather, sit and walk the beach and chill out!, But, given the Inconsistency of general service and food, and keeping in mind that this resort was/is not at capacity, it will continue to slide without serious interventions , like additional staff, (the ones we saw work hard), as well as better communication and customer service. Btw, never saw any managers the entire time we were there! Heard lots of complaints from other guests who had bad experiences that we never encountered like dirty rooms, towels, showers not working... Blah, blah, blah. Canjet was fantastic, nice clean, modern interior, great crew, good flight. Did not pay for drinks. Yay!

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Beautiful Beach, Wonderful Staff

This is our third time here and we loved it. Flew Canjet this time, much nicer plane than Sunwing or Air Canada. Beach is beautiful and food is plentiful and lots of variety. (For those that complain about little things remember this is a country where people have little but they give their all to make sure we have a great experience. Enjoy the beach, the pool and stop sweating the small stuff)

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Family Resort

We stayed at this well run resort from January 4th to January 11th. This is our third time to Cuba. We have a 5 year old son and felt the atmosphere of the resort was perfect for families… not as much of a party resort. The resort overall has a lush tropical feel with gardens and palms filled with coconuts everywhere. At first the resorts layout seemed a bit like a maze, but it’s actually quite well laid out and has the illusion of a nice small resort. It never takes too long to walk anywher [... read more]e, and if you’re too lazy to walk, there are lots of golf carts available to catch a ride in. The resort is well lit and feels very safe. Check in was quick and painless, as was check out. It is the gardeners at this resort that make a difference. One in particular befriended my son, called him by name, gave him coconuts all the time, made us souvenirs from palm leaves (rose, bird, and grasshopper)… my son called him “Manwell” but I don’t think that was his real name, lol. All of this he did without the exchange of money or goods. He was just a nice guy. Dining The resort has a large buffet with a selection that was surprising for Cuba. Still very repetitive, however. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for delicious fresh made crepes, omelettes, pizzas, etc. However, we did often have to wait for beverages to be served and a few times left without so much as a glass of water. Make sure you don’t miss Lester at the flambéed banana crepe station every night! Favorite part of my meal! The lobby bar serves delicious cappuccinos and hot chocolate! We were told we were entitled to 3 a la carts, however, the wonderful ladies in the booking room let us have 5! The is also an ice cream bar that serves Nestle Ice creams and drumsticks, which is a nice treat and something I’ve never seen in Cuba! There are 6 additional restaurants: Cuban: This is new, seems to be an experiment they are playing with… it was just food from the buffet! I would skip this unless it improves… Asian “Panda Rojo”: Delicious! We ate here twice because it was so different from the buffet and well prepared with a good number of items on the menu. Italian “Garibaldi”: Pretty good, they have a little meat, cheese and olive buffet to start off your meal with, and they give you buns with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, followed by 4 courses with lots of selection. The restaurant was 1000 degrees inside when we ate there, so we did not finish our meal because we were so uncomfortable! Gourmet “Romantico”: Even though we booked our a la carts on day 1 of our vacation, somehow this restaurant was already fully booked! The menu looked great though. Seafood “Puerto San Juan”: Would have been not bad but our lobster was very over cooked. Snack Bar: Do not be fooled, this is no ordinary snack bar… they served many varieties of wood fired pizza, seafood, chicken salad sandwiches, hot dogs, French fries, burgers, chicken and fish fingers that were hand battered… Great service, 24 hours, delicious food BUT very greasy if it was fried. They also made the best drinks on the resort. The Beach Well, this is why people come to Cuba… long, gorgeous stretch of fluffy white sand and the most turquois water you could ever imagine. This beach is unique from other beaches in Cuba that I’ve seen… this one has a significant change in tide levels! When the tide is out you have about 40 feet of beach, when it’s in, maybe only 15 feet in places, however it goes on forever so you can always find a quiet secluded spot. There are also TONS of lounge chairs and staff to position them for you. They clean them off and arrange your towel for you… they also have drink staff walking up and down the beach. The only down side was the weather for us… every day was very windy so the red flags were up every day but one during our vacation, but obviously that is no fault of the resorts. Pools There are a total of 7 pools (a kids pool, a wading pool, the garden villas private pool, 2 main pools and an east and west pool). All are very well maintained, beautiful and have an abundance of loungers and tables. The main pool has an island with “beds” in the centre. The east and west pools each have their own bars and are very long, longer than an Olympic size pool, with varying depths for families with children. Rooms Our room was my only complaint; however I have a vacation attitude and saying: “make the best out of everything, never complain during the vacation, and remember, someone else is cleaning it up”. So this is the phrase I repeated to myself about the room during our vacation. It was a large room with plenty of storage, on the second floor of block 6 with an ocean view. It was a great block, quiet and away from everything and a very short walk to the beach. We had a king size bed and a cot for our son. The bed was pretty terrible. My husband slept on the cot one night in an attempt to get good nights sleep. The room smelled like mildew pretty badly the first day and I aired it out and sprayed a solution I bring with me every vacation (because I find most Cuban hotel rooms have a mildew scent). The decorative pillows on our bed and the comforter smelled TERRIBLE like a thousand people had slept on them and they've never been washed. They stayed on the floor the entire vacation and away from the bed. The bathroom leaked everywhere. The sink faucet sprayed everywhere, the tub showers curtain didn't close enough to prevent the entire bathroom from flooding… but like I said, somebody else’s mess to clean up. We slept in our room, showered, and otherwise spent all our time at the beach. The air conditioning worked well, the fridge was always stocked with drinks and water, we got lots of channels on the TV… we were happy. Our room attendant was Miguel and he made the coolest blanket sculptures every day on our bed. Entertainment We only watched 2 shows, the clown show for kids (which my 5 year old LOVED) and the Michael Jackson show, which was also pretty good. That guy can moon walk better than MJ! The speakers in the theater are painfully loud, however. So, would we stay here again? Yes, and I would recommend it to anyone unless you are a 20 something looking to party.
