Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing time as always

I always go to this hotel when I go to Cuba. It’s a great atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. You can take the bus to go to varadero markets, that was fun. Never once was I afraid and to go back to my hotel I took a old 1956 something..lol that was cool and cheap as well. I plan on going again next year and this time alone. Can’t wait!! Next time I will book at Sanctuary since I’ve never been but keep hearing good things about it. I always leave my salt and pepper shakers with the cooks and they really show you there appreciation. All in all I love this place and would recommend it no problem.

Club Kawama: Kawama enjoyed times eight!

Kawama has become a home away from home for me! The staff are fantastic, the food has lots of variety so it is never boring. The restaurants within the hotel are varied, from pizza to steak, and then there is the lobster!! Pork, chicken and the omelettes for breakfast! I enjoy Kawama each time I go, also the entertainment in the evening! Wonderful variety again. The bubble parties in the pool, there is always something to do. Roc Arenas Doradas: very good resort

very good restourant and food rely good some public area not clean around buildings some garbage remain there for two weeks park area beside beech nobody cleaning some small bugs entering to the room and biting over night very friendly staff I like this resort this is some recommendation what should be improved

Paradisus Varadero: Disappointed

As usual the Cuban people are wonderful. Attentive, happy, friendly. The hotel grounds and landscaping are superb. The beach without peer. And then the problems begin and they are numerous. The rooms. We had two. The furnishings were old. That's ok it's Cuba. Several lights were out and reading was difficult. In the first few days very little hot water was available. One shower didn't work. One toilet didn't flush. Later neither toilet flushed but wastebaskets full of water served us well.  [... read more]The ceiling in a bathroom leaked. The bed in one of the rooms was two beds pushed together with a person eating crack in the middle. The food. We are used to Cuban food and know of its limitations. Of our six trips to Cuba this was the worst experience. The same choices at the buffet every meal. Uninspired. We made one reservation at the tex Mex. On arrival needed a rest room. Sent next door. One rest room out of order the other without toilet paper. A napkin offered instead. Laundry. No towels or replacement sheets. Bars. Often out of alcohol except rum and beer. Entertainment. Excellent. Had newly made friends with young children in the next building. Found bugs believed to be cockroaches. Requested a room change. Unable to do. No reason given. Considerable confidence in their reporting. Al in all not the experience we hoped for. Of the six visits to Cuba we have made this is the worst. This resort has great potential. Please whoever is responsible don't let it's decline continue

Hotel Villa Cuba: Small Comfortable Quiet Resort

This hotel is old but is slowly getting some upgrades...we have been here 21 times and it has been improving over the past 3 years since being purchased by the Be Live Hotels. The people are amazing, the beach is incredible, the accommodations are adequate and very clean. We did have problems with our villa not having any water at all 2 days but only for a few hours at a time....always at the end of the days when people were requiring showers and getting ready to go out for supper. Barcelo Solymar: Horrible! No electricity, bad service, bad food, hospitalized for over a month when returned to Canada

First night checked in room had no electricity or lights, they sent workers for hours trying to fix it before giving us a new room. The new room had electricity but no bedding at all. We requested bedding multipul times, eventual received it 4 hours later. A day later house keeping gave us the rest of the bedding (sheets ect). Food was horrible and became sick the entire vacation. Head, stomach hurting and diarrhea for days.My companion was hospitalized once we returned to Canada for almost an e [... read more]ntire month. Since he was quarinteend and not allowed to leave the hospital he missed work for that entire month taking a significant financial blow.Once released from hospital he had an IV attached to his arm which he had to go to a clinic daily to fill. resort is close to the main strip of varadero you can walk to shops and bars. Would have liked to enjoy this more but the stomach pain and diarrhea hindered that. All inclusive alcohol and food great idea but again could not indulge due to stomach and head pain as well as diarrhea. Access to the adjacent resort was nice as the had a snack shack open long hours. Beach always nice. Over all this is my second trip to Cuba. First trip back around 2012 at a different resort and it was great. The experience made me want to return back to Cuba. This trip at Barcelo solymar was horrible on so many levels I would never recommend this resort . No electricity in the room upon admission and instead of giving us a new room they waisted our time sending workers to try and fix it while we sat and watched. Also half way threw the vacation our room keys stopped working locking us out of the room. Companion became so sick he was hospitalized for almost an entire month taking a substantial financial blow. We particularly picked this resort at the advise of the travelle agent knowing it was more expensive then other ones we could have chosen but promised a better experience. We got a horrible experience all around.

Club Kawama: Awesome Resort !!

My first time at this hotel in Varadero !! What's not to love about Kawama from the scenery to all the lovely people working at the resort !! I will definitely be returning in November! Can't wait to see everyone again. Much love to all !

Roc Barlovento: Great Time.

We spent April 17th till May 1st, 2018. This is a cosy little hotel, 297 rooms. Adults only, Great staff, fast check in, Good food. Good entertainment , Great location in the heart of varadero. Very clean. Beautiful beach.Great pools. Special thanks to Mario entertainment. Noilia our maid. Yailia and Pedero waiters. This is a great hotel. Thank you to Manuela Romeiro at Tripcentral .ca for making the booking so easy.

Sol Palmeras: Fantastic resort!

I absolutely loved this resort! The food was way better than expected with plenty of restaurants and buffet to choose from. Resort was beautiful, more or less clean and had plenty of activities to do. The maids did a great job cleaning the rooms although the shower pressure was lacking and cold. Overall amazing resort for Cuba.

Los Delfines: Isazul Los Defines resort

Absolutely loved this place staff our friendly and always wanting to make your vacation go easy! The location is fantastic we walked the first night for about an hour and I felt comfortable walking around I can’t wait to go back the food was not bad! The entertment everynight was good and the 24 hour bar was great! Thanks for. Great experience 😊

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing Resort

My girlfriends and I ( 4 of us) have been taking a yearly vacation to Cuba for 5 years now and decided to go back to Naviti this year because we enjoyed it so much in 2017. This year was even better! They had special evening Events - Rum tasting, Chocolate night, Wine night and the Cuba Night was fantastic. The onl [... read more]y disappointing thing we find every year is the Disco is rare open, we were there for 14 days and found the Disco only open 1 night. We absolutely had a great time and can't wait for next spring!!!!!!

Grand Memories Varadero: Very dated resort

This resort is very big if you like the beach more go for the superior rooms they are closer to the beach. The rooms are very dated nothing special the pictures on the web site look better than they are but the cleaning staff do a great job cleaning. The grounds at this resort are very nice but the smell of sewer is bad at different spots for they take sewer lids off during the day and the smell is terrible. The food is good and the bathrooms though out the resort are kept clean. Not a lot o [... read more]f entertainment going on at night in main lobby would have liked to seen live bands but there is a show every night at the theater they are not bad. Beach is beautiful but the pools need a good cleaning i was at both pools and both have the walls full of algae. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would rate this resort as a 3 star no more.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good

Beach: is breathtaking, stayed most of the time at the beach. There's not enough Sun shade on the beach. Food: Not too bad, and not so good. Got tired of eating the same food. Didn't want to try raw vegetables. Servers at the buffet: Best service from Anabella & Lielet. You need to be at the buffet restaurant as soon as they open up. Always run out of butter. Room: Need to update room, especially the bathroom. The room that we first checked in, smelled like cigarette smok [... read more]es. I was all stuffed up from the smell of the smoke. We requested to move to a different room, but we can't move until the following day. You are only allowed to have one 500ml of water per day. We ended up buying at the store. Towel Service: Very rude people that works there. I'm lucky that they were not rude to me. I watched them shout at the customer... there's no need for that. The towels are so old, and they are still giving it to customers. My rugs are in a better shape than that towel that I ended up. Do I Recommend this hotel? I am not sure. The beach is super nice. We walked on the beach and watched the sunrise. Probably need to do some research if there's a better resort.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort to visit

This is our second time at Iberostar Laguna |Azul in 3 years we saw a big change inside....it needs to be upgraded especially in the bedrooms but the staff is super nice...the pool area is super nice and clean.....a la carte has great food the rooms are super clean.....:)

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Experience!

My wife and I were fortunate to have a fifth floor suite on the east corner facing the pool. It was an amazing view and from the moment we got there all the staff was helpful and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The short walk or ride with “Ricco “ you have the Beautiful beach right there with all the same services as the hotel has. It was a beautiful amazing experience in Cuba and we will be visiting there again.

Paradisus Varadero: Great Spot!

I really enjoyed everything about this resort. Love the way everything is located Oceanside! The room was clean and roomy. Deck was a lovely size and grounds were well kept. Great food too! I would definitely go back!

Sol Palmeras: Excellent trip. Resort with good balance of activities for all ages.

It is a great place for a group of 10 friends to spend the week, whether it be taking advantage of the many activities offered, partying during the day or at night, or simply relaxing. The bungalows are very nice, and a great layout with both a bedroom and living space. Great resort! Highly recommend!

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort with the friendliest Cuban staff!

Clean and fun with a laid back Cuban attitude that I needed in a vacation! I would recommend this to every Canadian traveller at any age! We, university graduates had a blast and a half in Cuba because of this resort and the beautiful Cuban people! 👍🇨🇺

Hotel Los Cactus: Los Cactus, Varadero, Cuba

First impressions are so important: Due to a delayed flight and being the second to last stop on the bus, we did not arrive until after 2:00 a.m. We did not find an employee to show us to our room. We were given a tiny map and the directions were scribbled on the map. Fortunately, another guest along with the Italian cook took our suitcases and showed us to our room. The Junior Suite room was spacious. The bar fridge and coffee maker did not work because the electrical connections were loose.  [... read more]Sparks could be seen when trying to connect any 240V connector. The chain on the sliding door was not screwed in allowing anyone to just come in from the patio. Finally, the bidet was leaking. We complained about all of the above issues: Someone did come in to fix the chain on the door: he (she) used two screws (no nuts) to attach the chain holder to the door. Anyone could have just slide the door open and push the piece out of the door. Another complaint had the tech come once again to put a proper attachment to the chain holder. The elec. connection was never fixed and the bidet was still leaking in spite of someone cleaning the grout or caulking from around the base. Otherwise our room was quite acceptable. Now back to the main reception area: in the men's washroom, the three urinals were out of order when we arrived. Two weeks later when we left, all three were still out of order. WiFi - yes we purchased a one hour card for one peso. Unfortunately, in spite of only using it sparingly it ran out of time. Similarly with the second card. Only then were we told we had to turn off the WiFi otherwise the card would run out of time. Why were we not told thus upon the purchase of the first card? Restaurants - only two a la carte restaurants: Italian and Cuban. Both were very good. Air transat offered us a special dinner on Wednesday nights - outside at the Grill site. This was excellent. General restaurants: the food was typically Cuban with no spicing but who goes to Cuba for the cuisine? The food was plentiful, good and filling. The staff were excellent. Whatever we required they provided it. I wonder if the resort was only 30% full, how would they cope with food demand if the resort was 70% occupied. Finally, there were concrete stones in the pool area that were damaged (several women tripped and fell over some stones). They were not being repaired. Entertainment: as in other Cuban resorts, the entertainment was basically in Spanish yet there were mostly Canadians in attendance; The MCs were always too loud speaking into the microphone so were difficult to understand. The shows, esp. the Cuban dancers were excellent. The Tuxpan Resort next door played loud base disco music until 4a.m. Sunday which kept us awake. Would we return? Fortunately, we are Canadian and thus we accept some of these conditions. So, yes I believe we would.

Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Great Resort

Great Resort. I enjoyed it, a bit far to the beach though. The food can be improved...more choices could be given. The staff was kind, helpful and friendly. Very welcoming and caring. The only difficulty was the check in time was very late.
