Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful resort

Everything was clean, efficient, and very friendly. The food was very good. The beach was excellent. The grounds were landscaped perfectly. The shuttle service to the Bavaro Palace was always available which was especially nice for seniors. The pool, buffet, and bar were centrally located around the rooms so there was not much walking.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Good value

Resort was very clean - staff always cleaning. Lots of pools and beautiful beach. No bugs. Food was good. Room had low lighting and our phone didn’t work but we didn’t spend much time in the room so no matter. Would recommend

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Solid 3 1/2 star

Beach beautiful with a nice bar, lots of shade areas, fresh smoothie station and crepe station. Beach had lots of seaweed first couple of days which didn’t bother us and They were constantly trying to get rid of it. By mid week the seaweed was pretty well gone. Pool fine but we stayed at the beach most of the week. Rooms dated but fine. We requested rooms in same building as we were travelling with friends. Requested it on check in when we arrived in the afternoon. Nice gentleman told us to come back in an hour as rooms had to be cleaned. We went for a late lunch and checked back at reception. We were told that they needed another hour so we went exploring the resort and went back after an hour and a half and where given rooms in different buildings. I have a feeling they gave one of our rooms away as they gave us a totally different name for one of the rooms. So we waited 2 1/2 hours to check in and still didn’t get what we requested. First time at a resort that this has happened and we usually travel with friends, A/c worked fine in room. Hot water took about 5 minutes to get hot and we ran the shower, bathtub and sink. Room cleaned fairly well and drinks replenished daily. Mirror in bathroom was smeared and dirty upon arrival and never cleaned but the daily cleaning other than that was fine. Rooms often cleaned later in the day. Specialty restaurants. Steakhouse- service wonderful but steaks terrible. Italian- service good again and food ok. Japanese - food and service very good. Main lobby bar- hit and miss for service at any time. Buffet- lots of selection that changed up. Service good for the most part. We found a wonderful server by the end of the week and stayed in her section when we could. Coffee shop was great! Gym in need of refurbishment. Some free weights missing, one yoga mat and one ball. Treadmills took some figuring out. Nothing to really wipe benches off. Didn’t use bikes but they had them. Wifi terrible. Only in common areas and kept on dropping. Slushy machine pina coladas and drinks like that. Ruins the drink. Shows at night- mostly bad. There daily entertainment staff seemed to do the shows at night and they did not bring entertainment in from what we saw. We enjoyed our week for the most part but would not go back for the price we paid . We have paid less for other resorts and they have been better.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Don’t Bother

The resort is situated in Bavaro. The beach is NOT nice. It has large man made sand banks to prevent weeds from reaching the beach. It is a narrow resort so the beach chairs are squeezed together. You can barely walk between the chairs /rows. The rooms smell very moldy. It it in need of a major renovation. The food is all prepared in advance “a la cafeteria style”. The gym is pathetic. You can do better.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Nice place

The hotel was nice and the room was comfortable , the grounds very clean and well maintained. The ground transportation was more than I was comfortable with, arrival and check in was time consuming, there were issues continuously, but we were able to enjoy some quiet time in between. The employees did their best to make us comfortable, but unfortunately it had tendency to cause me more anxiety. It's unlikely I'll be returning, I wouldn't say I'm angry, more disappointed.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Dated resort on regular side

Family vacation with 2 young children. Rooms- told was upgraded from a standard rm to a VIP rm ay check in. Thought great amazing....arrive and it's very dated, dirty, air conditioning barely works(called to have it fixed 3 times, each time said would send someone and never did). Bathroom- flooded whole floor EVERY shower. Bath towels are gold and very hard to obtain daily and 4 is asking too much apparently. Food- just fine, had buffet most nights. Was very sick that night- assuming something listed gf was not or was contaminated... Pools- decent, beach towels are an issue to get often. Seems like they need more on site to keep up with demand. Beach- just okay, very cloudy and A seaweed issue. They did their best though to keep it as nice as possible. The constant sellers on the beach are very annoying and some are VERY persistent. Overall I would not go back due to the many issues listed and would not recommended either. The new adult side looked amazing, but if looking for a family resort like us this is not the place to go in my opinion.

Blau Natura Park Resort: Lovely grounds at Blau Nature resort

Really beautiful grounds, I've noticed many details visually on the grounds that are important for the harmony and clam of the place. The animals are adorable. The food is good, restaurant Media Luna and gondola are super. Pearl is not worth it. Employees are smiling and laughning a lot. Room service ok, always surprised when staff is sulking when no tips for them. Do bring 1$ tips for everyone. Reception desk had problems when I was there...Had to change room because no wifi that was needed  [... read more]for exercises. Publicity said they had wifi in ordinary room...140$ american for upgade. Wifi did not work for 3 days. It was repaired twice. Expensive for a 31/2* Secure place.Boom boom is not overwhelming. Beach is mot nice. I went for snorkling, I am disapointed.. Coral is sad sad sadly damaged. Outing to Catalina with Nexus tours,for snorkling: not good, they feed the fish to attract them and very little, but island lovely and beach and boat tour, super. I went left of resort beach to find fish, had to go about 50 meters away from beach but good. I don't use pool.

TRS Turquesa: Best Vacation

The TRS Turquesa Palladium in Punta Cana was the best holiday we have ever had. We had room 5245 and it looks onto the main pool. The room was beautiful, with the only problem being some days we had no hot water in the shower. The King bed was very comfortable and housekeeping had the room cleaned before lunch. Service was supper good and the food at Helios was so good. I would definitely go back to this resort.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Meh!

There is no way that this is a 4 star resort! I spoke to several others there at the same time and all agreed. I would give it a solid 3 star. The grounds are beautiful, the pool where we were which I think is Pool #1 has stains on the floor of it so you can see it so we stayed at the beach. The rooms are ok, but that's it, ok. My toilet leaked, my ceiling leaked, all was fixed but again not the best impression. Seaweed at the beach in the water but it was ok, never a server for drinks so don't  [... read more]even bother with that, which is fine but most places have servers, I didn't see any at the pools either. The food was repetitive but ok, nothing special for sure, all fine to eat, you didn't get sick. The alacart restaurants were good, Brazillian and Italian the best ones. Take it from me, it was ok, just not a 4 star, had my wife been with my son and I, she would have not liked it at all, but for my 7 year old and I, it was a good vacation.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Grand Palladium Bavaro is excellent

We had a couple issues with the room the first day, but they rectified the issues and all was good after that. The beach was amazing, they bring a tractor and attachment down every morning to clean up any remnants of seaweed. The food was fabulous, especially the Ala Cartes, Steak house, Spanish, Mexican, Asian, Japanese, Italian and so on. The grounds are always spotless and well kept. My wife and I had really good time and will definitely go back.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Third Time's the Charm!

This is the third time for us at this venue. We stayed twice before (2001 and 2003) and were surprised at the many upgrades since those long ago vacations. The grounds were groomed to the nth degree; the guest rooms are roomy and clean; maid service was excellent, and while we normally prefer not to dine at buffets, this one was a surprise because the menu selections were plenty, varied, and interesting, so we found ourselves drawn to the Carib buffet. However, the servers were so accommodating and polite in the Carib that we found ourselves drawn to it. Unfortunately, for some reason, we could never find "snacking" venues at the resort to tide us over between scheduled dining times, and for later in the evenings--we prefer to dine lighter and more often rather than three large meals. Clean large beach towels were always available, pool areas were spotless and pools were temperate and pristine. We particularly enjoyed seeing a beautiful peacock strutting about here and there with his more drab harem of peahens following. All in all, a wonderful venue. My husband enjoyed it as much as I did.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Fantasia Bahia Principe Punta Cana

The grounds of the hotel are pretty! Great water park for younge children. Kids club area clean and have friendly staff. Recommend water shoes for kids- marble tiles around pool areas are slippery!! Recommend not staying on main level to try and avoid musty smelling rooms/linen. Some changes to buffet daily- themed nights. We found evening show times of 9pm and 10 pm too late for the kids to enjoy.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Very impressed with this resort

The grounds were very clean, the people were very helpful. The food was very good. the weather was fantastic. I loved that we could visit the Palace. Lots of variety in the drinks at the bar. Loved that bottled water was available at any bar and you did not have to stand in line for it.Would go back to this resort

Occidental Punta Cana: Amazing resort

Staff is friendly rooms are great common areas are breathtaking food is good swimming pool is nice I say overall it was a nice experience there Santos at the pool bar was amazing back yard of the ground floor room is amazing thanks everyone .

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Boys week

Would like to take this opportunity to say this resort was an amazing get away the the boys... The staff was amazing and friendly, the food was always good, pool was clean and beach was breath taking... I do have to say there was a lack of entertainment but what they did provide was satisfactory. The resort was one of seven which at any time was interactive but unnecessary because we had all we needed where we were. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Good Resort

The resort is beautiful, clean, close to a beautiful beach and also has several pools. Buffet food is good and the a la carte restaurants are amazing. Bedrooms are large but need updating, especially the bathrooms. Toilet flushes very slowly and sink drains slowly as well. The staff is polite and efficient although I miss the "hello" when meeting maintenance workers.Entertainment is of the "lobby type" and there is no auditorium for performances.

Occidental Punta Cana: Just ok

Grounds hotel and beach very nice service was not consistent at all and for most part poor. Did not matter wether you tipped or not,we found that hotel staff not friendly not willing to help.We totally felt uncomfortable and not welcome for the most part, promises were made and never delivered. This is not a hotel I would recommend or ever return to.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: January 2019

This resort is gorgeous with constant maintenance of the grounds. There is a good variety of restaurants and pools and the beach was clean and always had an available lounge chair. It was touted as a Grand Sirenis..., however not all final things are in place, ie. the second daily buffet, service level, some restaurants quality. The rear aquagames waterside, etc park was a great attraction for my kids, however several tiles were broken on the pool floor and most fo the slides were closed for rep [... read more]airs for the majority of our stay. The concierge service should only be used basically for making evening reservations for restaurants. Changes to our room only seamed to happen by speaking with from desk staff. The Sirenis Premium Travelers (SPT) pitch took more like 3hrs rather than the 90min. If you can be bothered by their pitch you get an $80USD credit for the resort. The SPT offer sounded too good to be true so we did not sign anything despite their persistence and several additional 'managers' offering us more incentives. Kind of left a sour taste in our mouth as they were pushy. Best to just avoid it and enjoy your time there uninterrupted. Friendly staff, however seemed understaffed at many of the restaurants and unable to adequately manage the number of people eating as many tables took too long to clear for other guests or it took too long to get service at times.

Riu Republica: RIU REPUBLICA

We really like this hotel, that is why we returned to this hotel for second time in two years. We love the environment, the room, dining room, the pool, the entertainment, especially the beach is close the hotel. We really love the beach with strong wave to play with.

Punta Cana Princess: good but the bugs are horrible

Was at the Princess Punta Cana All Suites Resorts from Jan 9/19 to 23/19 in Room 4008 -travelled Solo Room was good- maid is excellent, customer service is excellent Food is very good Steak house is as good as Alberta for beef-which I lived in for 8 years Italian is lovely Swiss is good Mediteranean cooked me lunch for at least 9 or 10 days -fresh cooked calamari and grouper and hand delivered to your table -I was in love The Buffet is one of the best I have ever seen The Monda [... read more]y night Italian includes Ossi Bucco -my Favourite The pastry and bread chefs are very good Lots of veg and the cheese is top of the line Now the Bad The bugs are horrible Sand flees on the beach are horrible The no see ums are every where I had to buy 2 bottles of Calamine lotion at $11 US for 4 ounces just to be able to sleep - at their so called duty free shop I spoke to a man from Hamilton and he told me they bulldozed a mangrove swamp to build the 3 hotels I went over to the next hotel and walked thru their Garden Alley- and it is a mangrove swamp -lovely birds Gift Shop It is all priced in US and I am not willing to pay $35US for a spray can of Off - that I can buy at C Tire for $8 Cdn No booze I am 68 years old - I do not do Bars I like to invite people over for a beer or a glass of wine to my room There is no alcohol for sale in these resorts in their gift shop The fridge notice says if I use the 2 beer in the fridge they will charge me surcharge to replace it The Spa I booked a therapeutic massage They cut my time from 55 minutes to 50 They did not give me a 10% discount There are no where near Canada levels- I go every 6 weeks in Sudbury and I have even had Thai Massage in China and been to massage in Tunisia and Banff -they do not even come close Punta Cana Airport This is a total night mare -coming and going I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS It was more than 2 hours coming in Lined up in maze rat lines with at least 2000 other people from at least 8 or 10 other flights No seats Going out It took more than 1 hour to get thru the "trained rat " lines- again no seats I went to the Premium Lounge- always do- well worth $50 US There are no seats in the departure lines and the plane was 1 1/2 hours late due to flight delays out of Sudbury due to snow We also had another 1 hour delay out of Kitchner -due to snow in Sudbury Staff Sunwing staff is Lovely and very good. The pilots are excellent Leo- on site- was very helpful when I donated $ 500 Cdn to Country Safaris to buy uniforms for 10 kids to be able to go to school- I always do this --world wide- every trip Next trip I will be going to Canada Blooms Mar 8-18 And I will be booking a 2 week vacation either before or after out of Toronto- likely- Juan Dolio -because I will go Fri and avoid Puna Cana . After that I am looking at New Zealand or Australia in Oct Please note that in the last 20 years I have done at least 50 Trips on Air Canada, Air Transit, Air France and I have done G adventures -Trans Sibirian Rail Trip plus all of Central America -except for Belise and Halifax and Victoria and US and a 14 day Trans Atlantic cruise I book every upgrade available and on Sunwing I do Elite Plus I hope this assists you Now I am retired and I will be doing more
