Paradisus Varadero: Amazing Beach

Food not as good as it was last year.Staff is absolutely wonderful from maid to servers and beach staff.Entertainment was a lot of fun.Check in went much smoother than it did a year ago.Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Beautiful Resort

This hotel is very pretty. I stayed at this resort April 18-25, 2018. There is still room for improvement with this resort. The food needs a lot of improvement. It seems to be repeating the same food every day. Not really catering for international guest. No variety of bread , food seems to be over grilled too much salt. The rooms beautiful but they need to put signs hot and cold on the taps. A problem that most of the guest were having was that the water was either boiling hot or extrem [... read more]ely cold. We had to keep calling maintenance to fix it. Apart from that the staff were friendly. Also I should mention when you go to Cuba you want to experience Cuba Coffee not Americana coffee. The entertainment needs improvement.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good resort for the right price

Rooms are dated, beds are hard and the pillow where flat. Was placed in the room that had the Disco in the building, which when we had booked we where told we where not in but it was only in the weekend so it was only the first few nights that we heard the vibrations through the walls. the grounds where in some disrepair but they where fixing as we where there. New beach hut where in place and there was never an issue with getting a chair at the beach or the pool. Pool was dated but the workers [... read more] said they where fixing this summer. Food the first day was terrible, but drastically improved the rest of the trip. The drinks where great. Staff was friendly as we expected in Cuba. Close to Varadaro, cheap taxi ride to the town, this is a great resort if you can get it for 1000 dollars and under. We paid a bit to much.

Club Kawama: Good resort if you’re on a budget !

The resort it self was aged, but it was close to the airport and the city which was nice. The beach was gorgeous, but the pool area definitely needs upgrading and more shade!! This resort is no more than a 2 star in my opinion, for people looking for a cheap relaxing stay with minimal night life this is your kind of place! The Italian restaurant was awesome, the staff is fairly accommodating.. make sure you ask front desk to be close to the main area because if not they may place you in the old [... read more]er rooms that are a 10-15 minute walk away from everything!! Would only go back to this resort if it was on for a super cheap deal for an easy get away.

Club Tropical: Good

i liked the resort although the reviews and you advertising need to be updated, it stated it was a non smoking resort and that is untrue they smoke everywhere at this resort that was one of the reasons we choose Club Tropical, i found that the employees were a little lazy the beach garbage cans were always overflowing we witnessed a life guard throw a beer bottle at the garbage can and miss the bottle broke and the glass stayed on the beach for 2 days before it was cleaned, i believe that this  [... read more]resort needs the management to enforce the employees to do there jobs.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great Time

Loved this resort, the grounds were beautiful. It was exactly what we wanted, small, friendly staff, quiet and good beach with lots of lounges. Would recommend staying in a bungalow. Food was good..

Barcelo Solymar: Nice beach

This was definitely a party resort, if that is what you are looking for, then you won't be disappointed. It was very noisy all hours of the day and night. People walked around with stereos and it was a bit too much. I found the resort rooms to be outdated and short on supplies. There were 2 of us in one room, and we were each given 1 bath towel that was so small it couldn't wrap around our body. Roc Arenas Doradas: Nice resort

Stayed april 14-21. Was a great vacation. Hotel is nice. We stayed in block 5 great area close to pool and beach. Food was very yummy. Then again I never complain about Cuban food. Pool is a good size. Lots of chairs. Beach was amazing. Wasn't hard finding chairs on the beach. Grounds are very clean. Check in was crazy. Ending up checking us into a dirty room. Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Great location

Spend 7 days at this place and enjoyed ever day of trip. The rooms were large and clean. Staff on the resort were ever helpful and friendly. Food was good with large selection of Cuban food. Lots of meats, cheese, vegetables and seafood. The only complain I have is that they didn't offer scuba lessons or snokling at the resort which they said they did on thier website.

Playa Vista Azul: Great Resort

The resort was very clean, service was okay. I didn’t find the entertainment that great and the lobby music was rather sleepy. Would like to have had the option for a little upbeat music and a dancing!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Holiday!!

We went back to the Paradisus Del Mar in Varadero April 11-21st. This time we were in the Royal Service Section, and I have to say it was just unbelievable. From the the trolley drivers Juan, and Jorge, to the Royal service front desk girls, our butler Pedro, our housekeepers, then our bartender Eledis,and so many other staff members on the Royal service side, can’t remember there names sorry, but they were all amazing! So very helpful.We had our own butler named Pedro he arranged all of our [... read more] dinner reservations, anything we needed we just call him. You also get free internet access for the time you are there, which can be used in the lobby, or around the pool just located outside the lobby.We had a suite which had 2 bathrooms, and the main bathroom had a separate shower, double sinks, and a whirlpool bath! King size bed that was turned down every evening, housecoats, and slippers were provided. Also a dining room table, fridge that was filled everyday with beer, water, and pop! A coffee maker,which use pods now, but we liked the old glass coffee pot better! Balcony had 2 lounge chairs, also a small table, and 2 chairs. We had a private beach area which was great because you never needed to be down saving chairs early in the morning. The beach itself was great. We have been to this hotel 4 times over the last few years, have always enjoyed it. It is not a big resort which we like, the food was not too bad. We went to all the restaurants, they have 6 in total, the only one we really didn’t like at all was the Miramar! But the Marsellie,and the bamboo was our favourite. Done the buffet a couple of nights,and it was okay. We never go to Cuba for the food, but it has been quite good. The entertainment was good, always something to do. The hop on hop off bus that takes you into Varadero is just outside the resort and you can go into town for $5.00 each, or get a taxi that costs you 20 CUC. All in all if you can I recommend you go Royal Service, so different from being on the other side. I would also like to say a very big thank you to Ekaterina she was wonderful. All of the staff was fantastic ! And hopefully we can return to the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar next year.

Hotel Los Cactus: Beautiful Holiday

The hotel is absolutely spotless and the grounds are incredibly beautiful. The staff are so friendly and treat you like family. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. The food was good and there was a variety to choose from. The beach well beyond words. Overall a wonderful vacation.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Best kept secret in Veradero... Muthu Playa

Muthu Playa Varadero is one vacation spot that shouldn't be over looked. It is the host of an amazing resort and staff and the most perfect gorgeous beach I have ever visited. After spending week at this resort I am hooked, fish line and sinker hands down I am not interested in visiting at another resort this place is like a hidden gem. My family and I just spent the most wonderful vacation together at this resort, there were eight in our immediate group and others that joined us from other dest [... read more]inations in Canada that I am also sure will be happy to give or already have given a rave review for Muthu Playa Veradero! The staff, I have to start there... they are absolutely wonderful, personable and passionate to ensure you have the best vacation possible. The hard working crew at Playa never stop, they are putting their heart and soul in whatever they have on task, the chefs are ensuring every dish is prepared perfect, presentation is spot on but like they say on Master Chef... taste is key and these chefs did not disappoint. The bartenders... well they know how to keep the crowd happy! The lineups were kept at a minimal rarely waiting more then a few moments to get a drink specially made just the way you like it! Always presenting as a professional but carry a special charm about them it is hard not to feel like you have become part of such a great family. One of my favourite spots just after breakfast and supper you could find me at the coffee bar having a special spanish coffee , it was one of my favourite moments in the day. (I don't even like coffee but I can say Starbucks cannot compete with an authentic special spanish coffee in Cuba, I am now seeking out their secret recipe so I can attempt to replicate here at home. My room was cleaned thoroughly everyday by the hardworking room attendees, they paid great attention to details and always had a smile to share. The BBQ lunch buffet by the beach was a hit everyday the fresh delicious bbq refueled you for your afternoon of fun in the sun. The entertainment crews and shows were so good they actually tock my breath away, just to name a few were the Night Spanish dancers, the synchronized swimmers light night show was amazing and full of talent, the magic show still has me puzzled and the best Rock n Roll band is truly the best I have seen live. Thank you Muthu for such an amazing and memorable vacation with my family that I will only have great memories of and could never forget. Look forward to seeing you all next year!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Awesome Resort

Prime location is why we picked this resort. It's across the street from Cale62 and short walk from the Beatles bar. There is a Bank one street down, and some restaurants close. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the rooms where clean, and nice. There have new mini splits and lcd tv's. The beach is basically in the resort, so we stayed there pretty much all day. Resonance Blu Varadero: Garbage Hotel

We arrived around 1030pm to no staff that was able to answer questions or help us in any way. We finally found our room. We could not get a golf cart ride as we were too close but it was dark and we couldn't navigate. We finally went to the 24 hr snack bar that was dirty and unhygienic beyond anything I have ever seen. We were there for a solid 20 minutes before we saw any staff. At one point I walked into the kitchen and the counter was full of hamburgers and hot dogs that looked like they were [... read more] there for a long time. That food seemed to be the food we were served 45 minutes later. Garbage all over the pool, the resort. I picked up garbage daily. Golf cart drivers: all except one were rude and obnoxious and never wanted to give us a ride. Our phone and balcony door never worked so I had to go to the lobby and wait in line for the littlest of things. I finally cracked and complained about a staff member who refused to help me. They offered me late check out and to sign a waiver that I was compensated. I have never experienced anything like this hotel. No water all over he resort the day my son finally reacted to the poor food hygiene. Other vacationers advocated for us to have a room with water. Sure enough there was water in block of buildings that houses the suites. I can go on but it upsets me. I don't think tripadvisor should sell this hotel personally.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nightmare resort

If there were a lower rating, I would choose that. Our first room was dirty, second room was across from the disco and listened to people yelling until 5am. We then moved closer to the beach which was a nice location, but the pool is flithy, you cant see hair and straws and cups floating because nobody cleans anything. I hope you like mould! And dont expect those hand carts to give you a ride, youre walking. The icing on the cake for me was the Hospitality room at the end of the stay. Because we had to check out at 12pm and our bus didnt come til 5, they provided us a room at 4pm to take a shower and freshen up. We walked in and it was filthy and had someones dirty towels laying all over the floor. Nice! We just returned home this morning and I am in bed hoping to get to a clinic for diarrhea and dehydration and I am a handwasher and am very selective of what I eat and drink. So thats my review. I will try to post pics but if I cant, message me and I will send them I totally forgot the worst part! Theres a known infestation of bed bugs in building 24, where they were supposed to move us. Luckily fellow Canadians gave us the heads up Lastly, there is almost always no toilet paper and the doors do not close property and there is always a stench of sewage as you walk the grounds.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Truely Disappointed!

I would like to start by telling you this is our 15th time in Cuba and probably our last because of this resort! We were really shocked but more so very disappointed on how poorly this resort deals with issues. As soon as we arrived we had an issue with the room, we asked Colleen for a higher floor due to my environmental allergies but unfortunately the request was never sent. Maria at the reception desk did not try to accommodate the error but instead insisted she could not change the ro [... read more]om until Monday. She was very rude and never once looked at her computer to see what was available all she kept on saying was that the resort was over booked. I asked to speak to a manager but apparently no one was available, which I find hard to believe because people arrive 24 hours a day. She told us we could take up our grievance with Luz who is the director in the morning. So we had no chose but to sleep in the room on lower floor that was damp and had a musky odour. The following morning we went to speak to Luz but she had gone to Havana! But when we went to the reception desk again the new person there said that they were moving us to a higher floor even though Maria was a adamant there wasn’t an other room available until Monday. The next day we had lunch at the a la carte restaurant at the Sanctuary. We ordered chicken and grilled fish, but an 1 1/2 hours later our meals hadn’t arrived so I asked to speak to the manager. Gonzales came over and I asked why it was taking so long and he said it was really busy but he will personally take care of your orders. 15 minuets later still no food but people who had arrived 20 minutes prior were receiving their orders! I asked to speak to him again and when he came over he said he could do anything about the delay so we got up and left and went straight to Luz’s office (who we have meet by this time and had told us to come and see her if we needed anything). Luz had also instructed Maria to apologize to us about the room mixup and that they were going to change our room the next day. We explained to her what just occurred and the three of us walked over to speak to manager. She spoke to the manager who she also told to apologize which he never did, if anything during the vacation he never spoke to us or even say good morning good morning all he would do is avoid us. At that point the Italian chef as well as the food and beverage manager Yonnis came out to apologize and asked if we wanted lobster for the delay with the orders. I still wanted my fish but my wife wanted the lobster. The meals finally came out a 1/2 hour later my fish fine but my wife’s lobster was raw in the middle so she never ate. Yonnis apologized again but at that point my wife was so upset with the situation we just left. The next day we planned to go Havana. So we went to the a la carte early and ordered our food by 7:05. There were 2 other couples there before us but again we still did not receive our food until 30 minutes later. Seriously 30 minutes for 2 omelettes, that the server (Roxanna) got wrong but that’s because she was too busy socializing and taking yogourt and hiding it in the cupboard! So we asked to speak the manager and chef came out as well, but again nothing was done. My wife had a terrible experience with the washroom that was located just before the path to the beach it shared the same building as the towel exchange. She went to use the washroom at 9:15 but the doors were locked. She spoke to one of the butlers at the building nearby but he said they had to look for the chambermaid who had the key. 10 minutes later no one showed up so my wife spoke to another butler (Gretchal) who told her it was not her job. At this point my wife was so annoyed she asked why the washrooms weren’t open in the first place? These washrooms are meant for people on the beach who are wet and sandy in our case on the beach by 8am but all she did was argue with my wife instead of trying to find the key to open the doors. She finally came back with key and when wife went to use washroom there wasn’t an toilet paper or paper towel in the woman’s or the man’s washroom. My wife went back out to find Gretchal (of course socializing) and asked why there wasn’t toilet paper in any of the stalls or paper towel but her response was that she didn’t know and it wasn’t her job. So my wife lost it on her told she needs to do her her job and that this was going to be another conversation with Luz but she said didn’t care! On the positive side of things... The food was very good we were pleasantly surprised! We were in building 31, we had 2 butters Jorge who was fantastic! But Danyelle was terrible and just didn’t care! Jorge went out of his way to try to resolve any issues and to make sure our stay there was pleasant and uneventful. Our chambermaid Jenny was the best! The room so clean and always made sure we had everything we needed. All staff at the grill were fantastic! Always smiling and polite and making sure you had everything you needed. The greeter at a la carte (I can’t remember her name) was amazing she alway greeted you with a hand shake and a smile and came around the tables to make sure you had everything you needed. Now thats probably because of what occurred a few days ago. I believe Luz read everyone the rights which made the service so much better. Over all 80% of the staff were very nice but unfortunately the 20% of the ones that weren’t leave the bad impression. And even though Luz has the making of a good manager she still has a long road ahead of her to have this resort operate and present itself as 4.5 star resort.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Good Resort

My Appreciation to Reception Manager - Antonio ! the was an issues with the water in the room.. it was disconnected at all couple of times! The bar was not refreshed regularly.. apart of that all was not so bad !

Muthu Playa Varadero: Very good hotel

Hotel is pretty big, very nice and helpful staff, pretty clean everywhere. One fact was a bit disturbing, it was allowed to smoke inside the lobby. Food is decent, there was always something to choose from. If you give tips, they will be ready to help you with anything.

Sol Varadero Beach: Great experience

We are a family of 6. Two adults and four kids between the age of 12-17. Also had my parent inlaw with us. We stayed at Sol Sirenas Coral. In the Coral section. The staffs were friendsly and caring. The pools were clean and spacious. Our rooms were cleaned and we had all we needed. This resort gave us bottled water daily (no pop or beer) but it worked out. The buffet wasnt as great. Not much variety and the meat was more like a piece of gum (endless gewing) but the rest of the food  [... read more]was okay. Other than the fact that the resort ran out of serving plastic cups for a while we didnt lack much. Highly recommanded for families. Great service and activities. Snorkling id highly recommanded here. Great experience.
