Palma Real: Friendly Resort

We arrived at palma real 12 days ago .This hotel has been closed over 2 years since covid and they have redone the pools since then The rooms are still the same but at least everything was in working order The atmosphere was great everybody reuniting for first time in years and the staff are all very friendly and helpful The food unfortunately has not changed but they do the best they can with what they have ! And there are a lot of shortages in Cuba right now The whole front of the hotel [... read more] is now busy with vendors and restaurants and very built up now You can't beat the location it's right in the middle of all the action and within walking distance to Beatles bar Although the beach is located across the street it's a short walk and you have access to 2 more great hotels Great holiday stay !

Playa Pesquero: Amazing Resort

The hotel and staff were amazing , could always get a beach or pool chair, clean rooms Did not feel like I had to tip all the time but I did One hour drive from airport The food was good but they were short of a lot of Choices, not there fault and somedays could not get red wine

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Resort changed

This hotel declined alot in service and cleanliness, I had been there numerous times before staff were nice and courteous but the resort itself. Restaurants for a la carte closed no more disco, bar closed at 11pm no more access to food for 24hrs had diffferent drinks on a daily basis ie: fanta, rum, water no beer everyday it changed, no cola just lemonade!!! Well it was an experience one I do not want to experience again.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Not at all what we expected

Unfortunately not as advertised Staff was nice (not everyone, some of them looked annoyed when asked a question) and that’s about the only positive thing. Upon arrival we were told we would get an email about activities etc - never received, no maps brochures etc When asked or complained about something we get cold “ sorry nothing we can do” Food was so so - not on the 5 star level. Booked dinner for 4 in Japanese restaurant - they said we only have room for 2 the other 2 can sit at the regular table . Resort is spacious but old and tired looking. Holes and broken tiles on pathways ( witnessed a lady falling by the pool as she stepped in the hole) Cockroaches in the room, birds and bird poop everywhere, beach lounge chairs filthy, tables in the lobby sticky, no warm water, poor water pressure, and list goes on For the money we paid - huge disappointment !!

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Boutique-like Resort for Relaxing!

In general the facilities where modern and clean. The grounds/gardening features outstanding. Food preparation was good for Cuban standards. Staff friendliness was truly outstanding! There was some entertainment in the evenings but this could be improved. Cuba has wonderful musicians which we did not see enough. Having two beaches made for a nice variety.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great spot

The hotel is very nice and you can tell it was a top spot before covid. The grounds were kept beautifully and people were always working to keep it clean. The food is cuba... we didn't starve but was repetitive and it didn't ruin the trip. The beach is beautiful and private as well so you could go anytime of day and not be in a heard of people. The evenings in the lobby were great and they had some of the most talented people I've seen perform. There really wasn't anything to mix the drinks. Limited cola, no mint for mojitos, no slushy type drinks and I think the pina coladas were made from powdered milk. We finally found coke in Havana and paid $25 cdn for 6 cans but worth it .... it saved the trip. At night the wine and champange was good. Housekeeping was interesting... I'm not sure but they must have been told to not change the towels. The rooms overall were good and had no problems.... I didn't see any of these broken doors I saw on other reviews the building seemed to be taken care of. Overall they are struggling from Covid and sanctions etc but I do not regret going. If this is your first post pandemic trip you might want to reconsider because you may have different expectations and be disappointed.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Would not return highly recommend chosing another resort

This resort by no means is a 4 star resort, it’s the worst all inclusive I have ever stayed at by far. My husband and I arrived with our two kids 8 months and 32 months and were checked into an outdated room with mould on the lamp shade, no toilet paper holder, AC only functioned at high blast, paper thin comforters with no warmth, broken playpens for cribs that the bottom touched the floor. The food was selection was awful (no cereal, oatmeal, pasta, salad dressing, cheese, only fruit was un [... read more]ripe pineapple and papaya, almost no vegetables, fries only one time and the list goes on) Everything was salty and they would mix ham/pork in almost everything from salads to rice etc so if you have dietary restrictions be prepared to go hungry often. They would reluctant make you a vegetarian option even at the grill station. I was genuinely distraught after the first night so i spoke to the sunwing representative and client services the next day requesting to be switched to another resort. All that was offered to me was upgradibg us to the ROC plus plan which included an upgraded room and unlimited dinner reservations at the a la cartes as the buffet was beyond terrible. Despite being an upgraded room the patio door did not lock, I called and they said maintenance would come, no one showed up. The sheets were stained. Coffee maker in the room, but no coffee or filters. No room service. The Cuban restaurant was actually just a buffet with less option than the main. The italian and international a la carte had more decent food but even there the meats were overcooked and tough and very little selection. The plates in the buffet were often dirty, they ran out of beach towels for a few days, ran out of bath towels and only had hand towels, no cups at the pool or beach bar ( we read the reviews and brought our own) Drinks: wine only at dinner, no mixed drinks like daiquiris, Margaritas, mojitos etc, basically had rum and beer. Be aware there’s sand fleas on the beach. The pros: beach is beautiful, the staff are exceptional, coffee bar has great cappuccinos Overall: would never return to this resort and I’m dissatisfied that sunwing offered no assistance in switching resorts.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Fantastic!

The Royalton was an incredible place for some relaxing R&R. My wife and I went for our anniversary and we absolutely enjoyed every minute of our stay. The Royalton is a smaller and quieter resort, which was exactly what we were looking for. The service was exceptional, and the beach/pool is to die for.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: 3Weeks

The resort grounds are very nice and well kept. Pools are fine. The rooms are very clean and sufficient. They will replace towels every couple days. Water is given every day in the mini fridge. No beer or soft drinks. Make friends with the lady’s cleaning your room. Treat them well and they will try hard to please you. The beach is beautiful definitely a lot of shells in the sand so be careful. The staff try very hard but the situation is very different in Cuba now. Lisa at guest services [... read more] is amazing if you have a problem speak with her, she was always helpful. Emilio in the animation group was very attentive and always tried to talk to and please the guests. The food is not great but you will not starve it definitely is repetitive. Try and bring items to help ease that like peanut butter, salad dressing, ketchup, hot sauce, syrup, and snacks for your room. They are limited in variety but are doing the best with what they can get. You just have to be creative with what’s in front of you. We were there 3 weeks and it was fine. I would definitely recommend this resort but be prepared do your research.

Roc Barlovento: Beautiful beach

We had no problems with the food being served. Supplies are short and they make the best with what is available. Our room was comfortable- towels were limited and rather small for showers. They were not changed everyday. We found that staff were working 24 hours at a time which I thought was unhealthy for them. The buffet could use a couple toasters, use of a grill was fine for making toast but should be cleaned more often. Dishes and glasses were not always clean. And lobby bar had dirty gl [... read more]asses. I’m positive they only received a quick rinse. The beach under palapa could use a good clean up and the board walk to the beach needed to be cleaned and swept. The sand was accumulating up the boardwalk which would make it very difficult for wheelchair users. The pools were kept very clean ( Daniel ) did a good job. The gardeners did their work with whatever equipment they had ( very primitive) but gardens are well maintained. Overall the staff are very friendly and very helpful. We would go again as it’s our favourite location.

Don Lino Hotel: Amazing

Nice to be back at Don Lino, almost 3 years since able to travel. Always amazing service and always amazing staff. Vacationers I meet while there are always very friendly. Always very clean and spacious rooms.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Nice place for vacation

I've been there six times now and things has change so has the rest of the world.The resort is clean ,staff is very friendly even though there are less than before to do the same work,the food is better than before covid,some people will complain no matter what and the beach is always wonderful.We had access to Solymar and Palma Real resorts but not much happening there ,the buffet at palma real was very good,The ranchon resto (beach restaurant was close but they a BBQ on beach every dayThe w [... read more]aiters at lobby bar and buffet were all nice Thanks to Lazaro for being special waiter The resort is close to town varadero ,now they have more to do ,chip stand,small flee market etc. With the new currency lots of people have problem with money exchange.They accept U.S. AND CND money the peso is worth one canadian dollar.But over all every day is a new experiece and I would go back to this resort again

Mar Del Sur: livable place for winter vacation

Clean air, ocean swimming, tropical plants, livable hotel. Locals prefer any payment in cash, USD is worth the most there, credit cards are rarely accepted (with some exclusions). Good luck in you trip.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: vacation from hell

hotel should be refurbished .Stairs in main lobby filthy with dust. No hot or cold water in main complex for 4 days out of 7.No coffee in cafe(no water) 2 days no black tea. Toilets in rooms and public places would not flush(no water). air in room not working 3 days out of 7. Buffet-no butter at all no jam no peanut butter for toast. No bacon or sausages no milk, just powdered sometimes. Been hear 3 times, never again. Also came home jan24/2023 tested positive for covid

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another Cuban resort

Hotel is clean. Very bad design comes to the rooms ( our # 2103)faced to disco so can't go sleep before midnight. Nice beach and swimming pools. Good service but very bad food. Wouldn't go there again at least not for the price we paid .

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Incredible Stay!

We were blown away with our week away at Grand Aston. The rooms were modern, high end finishes, beds were very comfortable, food was great, drinks were plentiful, entertainment was amazing! Loved it all

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Better than expected

Booked due to proximity to Havana. We spent minimal time on the resort. For the price it was better than expected. Clean. Beautiful pool and great beach. Cuban resort food is mediocre unless you go to a 5 star. Not much to do at the resort but good spot to stay if you want a nice beach with quick access to Havana. Staff was good

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful beach 🏝️

The entire experience was very pleasant. Staff were very friendly and it’s a very family type of place. What I loooooooved was the beach which was even better than Pilar beach. Highly recommended. The only negative comment would have to be that there were no alcohol selection, other than that it was sooo wonderful 🥳

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Amazing memories! Great times

I honestly have to say that this resort brought such great vibes and really brings a lot of fun and entertainment! Don’t look at all the negative reviews about the food or even the hotel. It’s cuba what do you expect? You pay for what you get and honestly I went by myself and had such an amazing time and experience. Met great people, the entertainers made it super fun and I ate more In cuba than I did back home in Ottawa hahaha. Like I said, if your not a picky eater and you can live below  [... read more]your means and don’t plan on staying in the hotel room unless you plan on sleeping, this is the resort to be at! Only feedback was the alcohol at times ran out with mixed and they offered rum and Fanta or rum and coke which was not the best mix and gave some heart burn, but thankfully the hotels were affiliated with other blancos resorts so we ended up going beside the affiliate and still enjoyed the drinks. Live entertainment was super fun, beaches were beautiful, and Cuban workers were extremely nice. When I first started reading the negative reviews of some people I laughed historically after coming back. These people exaggerate too much. Again, my thoughts may be different from others but I will definitely be coming back to this resort. Grateful for the experience and the price! Best bang for your dollar for sure! I my advice is bring clothes and items for the workers, the money and tips are nice for them but they really appreciate items and clothing. Please make sure to give to these amazing workers, they do a lot and take a lot of bs from negative people. They would really appreciate it.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Terrible Vacation

The resort room was great, fantastic staff, friendly although it would be better if they could communicate better with their English. After all most tourists are English speaking or can speak English I have found. The grounds are well maintained. My biggest issue was all the cutbacks in the dining area. After speaking with other people from different resorts they didn’t have any cutbacks at all. I definitely would not recommend this resort to any of my friends.
