Friendly Fun Vallarta: Overbooked

The hotel was good and the staff were great but the hotel booked a company seminar that put up to 4 adults in a room. We were told there were 1000 people in the group for a hotel with 270 rooms. The good thing is they were out all day. In the morning they overloaded the breakfast buffets until 8am so if you wanted breakfast at this time you lined up for it. We went after they left for the day but by then the buffets would be out of things like bacon and one morning bread. This should not happen. [... read more] In addition they closed the al a carte restaurants, I guess due to the crowds they could only feed this number buffet style so we had to endure buffet dining all week. The food was OK but Similar every night. They did have a taco only restaurant buffet restaurant but with tacos being offered at the other buffets for lunch and dinner I really didn’t see the purpose other than to feed the large crowds. The lobby at night was packed and turned into a frat party wth these seminar guests chugging tequila out of bottles bought at the local store, so I think not all of the company seminar group did had bar access. They also brought cases of beer to the beach after the day time seminars ended. As for coved policies we had to sign a waiver that we would wear a mask in common places but this was not enforced at all and only a few people in the large company seminar group wore one. We left the lobby early every evening as we did not feel comfortable/safe with the large groups of people. In addition all the services were overwhelmed at night. The very good coffee bar was a 30 min line up at night.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Amazing resort

The resort was amazing the food was all very good the service was on the dot the beach is beautiful the rooms are beautiful there well air condition nice fans in the rooms the swim up rooms are very nice all the workers and Butler‘s go over and beyond to make you happy. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Honestly Amazing

The hotel grounds are absolutely amazing. Our room was neat and clean. Room service came everyday to clean and replenish towels. Masks were worn in main lobby indoor settings and when walking into restaurants ! I loved how organized everything was. I went with 2 other adults. Buffet not as good as the restaurants which you do need to book reservations for. Bring water shoes to the beach lol. We did thank God. Beach was clean. Overall 4.8/5 ! Loo

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Home away from Home

We were a group who stayed at this resort March 28 for two weeks. We were so happy to see Gustavo,Eduardo,Fausto,Herman, Omar and Daliha. Our room was perfect and very well maintained. The meals were very tasty. The one thing that changed was the pool bar was closed at 10 pm which was a shock. We all missed sitting out there. The Sens Riviera: Peaceful and FUN!

We absolutely loved our stay. We have come to admire a smaller property closer to the beach with less walking. We upgraded to the Sunscape pool area with outdoor tub! Woke up to birds and iguanas daily - a peaceful paradise. We had no kids with us, but the kids area were vast and several with Dino and pirate theme and an arcade. One of the things I most enjoyed was no braclets and no a la carte bookings. First Come First Serve and no disappoints. Did I mention the SPA! Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Great Hotel if you like walking

This place is beautiful. If you have scent allergies the check in/out can be hard as the lobby is horrible . Luckily the rest of the resort doesn’t smell like that. The pools are gorgeous ( If you don’t get a chair before 8 am you will not have one at the pool - beach is better) Food is good . However, if you are a diabetic there are not a lot of whole grain options ( they have gluten free items but as a diabetic that isn’t good to me . We were not lucky enough to have a clean room daily . Dirty linen, shampoo etc not filled and 2nd day the door was left unlocked - no apology at all even though they checked the door lock to see that no one from our room had come in after the cleaner . The safe was broken and the guy came twice to fix it - not fixed . We tipped first 3 days then stopped . 4th day - no toilet paper in the room ! Luckily we had another room we could lock up our stuff . If we had not had that I would have been really upset . My other 2 friends rooms didn’t have same problems with cleaning . Take taxis to places instead of booked excursions. Drivers that consierge can take you anywhere and stay all day for a few hundred $ the entrance to Tulune for example is about $4 US . You can then go somewhere else same day . We went to a beach to snorkel .

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Nice resort. But don’t think we will be back

We stayed here for 10 days for our honeymoon. Worth the price? Short answer is no. The pillows are terrible so you should probably bring your own. Rooms are nice. I don’t think the shower has ever been cleaned given the state of the glass door. Which is a big pet peeve of mine. Beach is nice. Lots of seaweed right now so you can’t swim out far at all. Not very big menus not a lot to choose from. They have dinner buffet but only set them up outside by the pools. So unless you want to eat there with the wind and mosquitos you have to get room service(which is very good) or go to a restaurant. They called us a lot for turn down service. Which I’m not sure why. The rooms have a do not disturb button on them which is nice. We missed our welcome meeting because we felt we didn’t need to go. Our do not disturb sign was on as we had left for breakfast so we didn’t want our room cleaned yet and we see that they came into our room anyways and left us a note saying we missed our meeting. That put a bad taste in our mouth. We spent a lot of money on this trip. They didn’t really seem to care it was our honeymoon. Made comments that we were “young” (28&29) we had our travel agent let them know a head of time that this was our delayed honeymoon. We saw everyone else arriving all week greeted with champagne. We were not lol. We were given a top floor room in villa #7 at the very end. Right across from the club that goes until 1am. Also overlooks the service building which smelt like hot garbage some days. Coco cafe is amazing. Better than Starbucks and 24 hrs. Pools are clean. Service all day is great. I don’t usually leave lengthy reviews like this. But we spent alot for this trip and it was long awaited.

Secrets Huatulco: Excellent resort, very happy

Safe, very clean, very courteous, and friendly staff. We had no issues during our Sat-Sat trip. Staff continuously made sure we were happy. Beach is not so great, but that is just the way the sand/water is in the part of the world. It is beautiful to look at and listen too, but not so nice for swimming and beach walking as the sand is coarse. Weather was great, hot, and sunny, well into the mid 30’s C every day. The utterly massive pool is amazing, clean, and so much pool space that you  [... read more]can do whatever you want and never feel crowded. My only real critic would be the pool loungers. We had to start getting up a 6AM to get a set of chairs. Even then, 80% or more are already staked out. Fresh towels are not available until 6:30AM. By then, there are pretty much no chairs left. People were saving towels from the night before. There is limited space around the pool edge, but more chairs and umbrellas could be placed farther back towards the grass so that everyone can relax and be in the shade. Overall, very happy with this resort and the value of this trip.

Riu Flamingos: One of our favorites

This was our 3rd time at the Riu Jalisco. It is time for a refresh but still a grand hotel. We had some specific requests, like a room facing the courtyard, and they were well met. The hotel was clean and the staff was always friendly. The grounds are well kept and the pools and beach areas are well maintained. Our 4th floor room overlooked the nightly entertainment. The entertainment was popular and well attended. The poolside activities included daily exercise and water volleyball. The foam pa [... read more]rty was big hit. Lots of lounges were available and as usual, early birds get prime locations. More seating at the beach. Easter week was busy so there were lines for drinks, but no huge problems. The food in the buffet was well presented, with many choices for picky eaters. The a-la-carte restaurants were popular with 15 minute line ups most nights. We preferred the Italian for selection and portion control. Over all it feels like his hotel is recovering from Covid restrictions. Masks were optional and rarely seen on guests. Every staff member continues to wear a mask. Our over all review is that this is a great place to enjoy the Mexican sunshine.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Ok Resort

Resort was clean, breach was nice. I had to go to the front desk at least 5 time for a new key card. Some staff were awesome, but some were just "there". Buffett, pretty good service, Jose was awesome during the suppertime seating. Buffet food was the same pretty much every night, no theme nights, just pasta, thin steak, chicken and pork, served the same each night. They did have a rotiserie chicken that was really good!! The main lounge out front.....very dated. I've been to a number of Barcello properties and they were great, this one was not great, but it wasn't 4.5stars in my opinion. The Beach Buffet, we had a family of 9 the Manager would not allow us to sit together 'Max 8" he said. we would have been ok with this if he could have explained why...he could not. Every other place we ate on the resort...no issue, they always made it work, but we had to fight every day with that guy, otherwise 2 kids would have to eat at their own table. It made no sense why this was only happening at the one buffet. oh, and the buffet was usually less than half full, this really pissed us off, day after day.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: disappointing resort stay

The beach was extremely disappointing, there was so much seaweed, not enough chairs and every time i turned around there was someone trying to sell me a massage or souvenirs, etc.. The lack of service in the buffet was a real shame, they could get a drink order right because of the language barrier from spanish to english and extremely under staffed. The excursion (tulum ruins, cenote, snorkeling) was well done, our tour guide Jesús was amazing, we did find the cenote and snorkeling a bit rus [... read more]hed and wished we could have spent more time there. There were only a few fish species to see unfortunately. The restaurant lines were long so we resorted to the buffet a few times for dinner. When we did eat in the restaurants (steak house, italian and blue moon) there were only a max of 5 main entrees to choose from and there was very little wiggle room to change something on the dish (baked potato to mashed potato for example). One of my biggest upsets was the lack of consideration for those with food allergies. I have a severe tree nut allergy and everything in the buffet was not properly labelled or every chocolate dessert was made with hazelnuts (same with the crepe station). Many of the restaurant dishes also had nuts and were not able to made without them which limited my choices. Unfortunately I will not be going back to this resort, nor do i recommend it and most likely will not return to Mexico.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort

The service at this resort is amazing and the staff are extremely pleasant. The food at the buffet and at the a la carte restaurants is amazing - could not ask for more! The only thing that is not great is swimming in the ocean - perfect for family with small children, if they wear water shoes, but not so much for adults. The pools make up for it as you can get a quiet spot or a very active one. Really enjoyed my stay

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Great Week!!

Overall this property offered everything needed for a wonderful vacation! The beach is practically non existent so if that’s big on your ‘need’ list then this place is not for you! The food, coffee, drinks, rooms, linens and facilities in general were fantastic! Location and proximity to 5th Ave were also great! We had a fun, fun week!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Amazing Quiet Resort very relaxing

This hotel offered great service from the moment we arrived to check in till the time we left. I think by far the best service yet. Pool staff were friendly, great service at the restaurants, maid service and shuttle service. Always smiling and happy to accommodate you. If you are looking for an adults only more quiet mature crowd then this is the place.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Resort

This was our 2nd time at the Barcelo Colonial and enjoyed every minute of it. It is a beautiful resort and the grounds are very well taken care of. The workers work very hard to make this happen. Barcelo is very family friendly and have lots of stuff for kids. They had a mask mandate of wearing your mask to all buffets, ala carts, going inside shops or any indoor spaces which made us very happy to see. It has everything you will need here without leaving the resort from swimming with turtles, seeing fish on the reef and much more. Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Great resort

Incredible resort. Staff are amazing. Grounds impeccable. Beach beautiful and if any seaweed removed immediately. Nice and quiet and not too many people around. Food not the best, but okay, for the price would have expected higher quality/

Las Brisas Huatulco: Loved it

We really enjoyed our stay. We spent a ton of time on the beach. The swimming was fantastic. The female server st the beach was really good. I wish I had written down her name. All the staff is really good and very helpful. My only suggestion would be to improve the map or signs as we were pretty confused at first. Next to that once we learned our way around we didn't want to leave and will definitely come back.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Fun holiday

The good: We stayed on the Palms side versus the seaside suites and much preferred the rooms and the beautiful grounds where the palms is situated. The Palms side is also where most of the night life occurs and also where the beaches are better. Night life and entertainment were great. The food was better depending on the restaurant selected - the Asian and Italian restaurant up by the main entrance lobby were the best. The entertainment up at the pool was also a lot of fun. The not so good: The seaweed! No matter how hard, or how many people worked each day, the seaweed did have a negative impact on the beach experience. We were at this same resort 2 years ago in early March and the beaches were beautiful. Unfortunately not this year. Both my husband and I got diarrhea - a first for the many Karisma resorts we have travelled. We spoke to another guest who had a similar story but we had not eaten in the same restaurants. Despite this we had a great holiday and would still consider going to this resort again but perhaps more in January or February to try to avoid the seaweed.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Not a 5 star

The resort is small and landscaped beautifully.Room was nice and very nice balcony . Cons- chairs around pools all claimed by breakfast had to get up by 6 to put out towels. Coffee! There is a Starbucks for pay. Maybe that’s why coffee wasn’t offered Coffee offered at breakfast only and not the good Mexican coffee we’ve had at other resorts.. we did ask for coffee at dinner and only two restaurants had coffee. - no special coffees but liqueurs were available.
