Sol Palmeras: Great beach and hotel

Sol Palmeras is an older hotel that is very well maintained. The food selection was good and the a la carte restaurants were very good (and I am very fussy). The beach is huge and we never found it crowded even though the hotel was almost fully booked. I would return to this hotel and would recommend it to friends/family.

Roc Barlovento: great location

The location and the beach were excellent. The hotel room not so good. This is the most I have paid to stay in Cuba and the hotel room needed work. There was hardly any water pressure for the shower. Even though it had a bath tub, it would have taken all day to fill it. The Toilet seeped as well. The other thing that bothered me was this was the first hotel I've stayed where we had to refill our own water instead of getting replacement bottles from the hotel. No free gifts was weird too.  [... read more] The Mexican a la carte was good. The Fusion restaurant not so good. The drinks were not so good either unless you were drinking the drink of the day. That's a lot of complaining but we would actually go back since we spent most of the time at the gorgeous beach. And of course the people and staff were great. Pedro made the best drinks at the second pool nearest the beach. Jose was a great guy too.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: It's an awesome resort

The hotel is great 👍 the rooms are excellent very clean ,amazing people excellent beach very clean excellent food excellent bars amazing reception Theirs no words to explain you need to visit the resort to experience what I have.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awful

Public washrooms awful! No toilet paper, no running water just grosss!!Pool was not cleaned all week!! Not enough staff for such a large place! Not enough food ! We upgraded to diamond club and payed more and did not have beer most of the time in our room, not a superior room, no ac in the dining, no running hot water/ hardy any water !! We made due as we are adults but very upset sunwing would even have this resort on there list!! It needs some tlc big time!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good stay

The rooms weren’t the cleanest, there was gum stuck on the head board of the bed when we got there but the maids/staff were super nice. The pool was dirty and there was a stray dog in it once but the beach was amazing. The food also wasn’t the best. But overall it was a great stay

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort

Right from when you are greeted to your departure, the entire staff have your happyness and comfort on their minds. We ate at all restaurant's except The Caribbean. The service and food were great, especially the Italian. The grounds and pool areas were kept very clean and and nice. What a great beach. We walked the beaches every day and without a doubt ours was the nicest. We paid more in order to have The Diamond Club experiance. I would deffinately recommend this for everyone. It allows yo [... read more]u to eat at a different restaurant for lunch plus your pin seating area at the buffet and the beach plus a few other amenities. Include is the butler service. All the staff were very happy and helpful, especiall Rene. Funny and helpful. Makes your stay very relaxing.

Playa Vista Azul: What a week!

I’ve been to Cuba many times and this was without a doubt the best resort I’ve been to. Beaches: amazing. I don’t even know where to start! Rooms: They’re very nice for Cuba. The showers are the best part. Entertainment: Amazing. The shows were great every night. Food/drinks: Good for Cuba! They had many lunch options (main buffet, pool BBQ, beach buffet, snacks in the coffee shop) The sit down restaurants were our choice every night for dinner. And the snack bar was always good lat [... read more]e at night. Staff: Always great in Cuba. Especially the bartenders! Other: The coffee shop there is a must see!! We also got an amazing deal for a park and fly hotel through tripcentral and that made everything a lot easier. Overall it was a great trip and we would definitely come back!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Better than expected!

Food - Surprisingly enough, it was decent. Sakura and Hilltop were our favorites. Drinks were fantastic. Cold and consistent everywhere. The coffee was epic. Rooms - Dated, sorry. Standard, a bit musty. Bed was hard. Room needed repairs. The room definitely was the worse part of our trip. Pool - Very nice. Warm, clean, inviting. Pool bar was great. Beach - Amazing. Overall - 8.0 Room sucked, and better customer service would jump it to a 9.0

Hotel Los Cactus: You Get What You Pay For

First time at a cheap resort in Varadero, and even though my expectations were low, I did not lower them enough. The beach, resort grounds, and especially the price are really nice. But that cheap price comes with a cost. Food was borderline. Some of the food was outright disgusting IMO (although others - especially East coasters, for some reason - really liked it). Our room was next door to a thumping disco that went very late (thankfully only a couple nights). Cockroaches were a familiar sight in the hallway and in our room (maybe that's par for the course in Varadero?). Ridiculous charges for lost beach towels (yes, I lost mine). Some staff were excellent! Some were terrible (as were many of the WT guests!). The alcohol selection was only bottom shelf stuff (bring a Bubba because the glasses are tiny). Again, maybe I had higher expectations than I should have and I'm off the mark, but I was really disappointed. I will say that because the resort is closer to town, we could escape to get decent food and drinks with only an 8 CUC cab ride (each way). If I could do it again, I would spend a bit more and pick a better resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: VERY GOOD ADULT RESORT

THIS WAS OUR FIFTH TIME AT THIS RESORT AND OUR FIRST TIME IN THE ROYAL SERVICE,YOU GO TO VARADERO CUBA FOR THE BEACHES MILES OF SAND AND A PRETTY CAM SEA,S. AS THIS IS A SMALL RESORT AND NO WAITING FOR ELEVATORS EVERYTHING IS WITHIN A SIX TO SEVEN MINUTES FROM YOUR ROOM ITS AN ADULT RESORT AND EASY FOR PEOPLE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER THERE IS ENTERTAINMENT EVERY NIGHT AND THE TOWN OF VARADERO IS CLOSE BY FOR OTHER NIGHT LIFE. Hotel Bella Costa: Good resort for the price

The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed meeting locals staying there there with their families. The beach was beautiful. The resort is older and in need of TLC. The pool liner needs to be replaced but it would be costly to do. It did not bother me or others that were in the pool. The only issues that was bothersome was the glasses at the buffet for juice etc were not washed with soap, just rinsed and were still dirty. Plates were just rinsed off. There was a staff member cutt [... read more]ing ham in the buffet that was eating his dinner and was using SAME fork to cut the ham and put on our plates.

Villa Tortuga: Very disappointed!!

The hotel looked very nice and well kepted when we first arrived, but when we got our room, it was so dirty, smelled musty, th bed covers were all stained, mirrors had never beened washed! Very disappointing 3 stars hotel! Smelled cigar and cigarette smoke in every room. Bathroom so dirty they never washed the room with any cleaning product what so ever during the whole week! We had a mini fridge and not once did we get spring water during our whole stay! Palma Real: Do Not Stay at this resort!!!

I arrived at Allegro Palma Real on April 18th, 2018. The resort is old and run down. The reception at the hotel are not very accommodating. Fortunately, I met a person who had just arrived at the hotel on my flight and was very helpful in advising me what block to stay in this hotel. I stayed in Room 3214, the room overlooked the ocean and there was a ramp leading up to these rooms which was very helpful for me as I have had knee replacement surgery. The room was clean and well maintained b [... read more]y the maids. The elevators in the hotel do not work. I am not a fussy eater, but the food in the buffet area was a lot to be desired at the best of times! The Cuban people are now allowed to stay at this hotel and the women, men and children are rude, pushy and show no respect for other paying guests. On April 19th, I met with the The Air Canada representative who never mentioned anything about the services of the hotel, where you had to go to the beach and what was available at the beach, he only was interested in selling the excursions. It is a long walk to the beach and very hard to find chairs, as they are being taken up by individuals who are saving them with a towel. There was a fight in front of the hotel and police came and arrested this individual. There is no filter on the alcoholic drinks, the 24 hour snack bar is not open 24 hours. This place is not very well maintained and would not eat their if my life depended on it after the experience I encountered on the day I was departing the resort which was April 25th. The hotel did not offer any accommodation for the individuals leaving the resort at 7 am for an early breakfast. The bus did not pick us up until after 8 am to go to the airport, so we could have gone to the buffet restaurant for breakfast. I have been travelling to Cuba since 1986, and have stayed at many different resorts all over Cuba with the exception of Havana and Cayo Largo. I enjoy vacationing in Cuba, due to the weather, ocean, beach, different sport activities, the people and feeling safe. However, I would not recommend this resort to anyone in my opinion it should be rated as a 2 -1/2 star resort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: My best resort

The whole place looks amazing. I love that you have to walk to get to ur room. Knowing the food to be good to my liking...I needed to burn all the carbs. All you can drink (with friendly & loving staff) and entertainment are truly fascinating! My daughter had her 18th birthday experience to be superb...thanks to Melia Peninsula. Will choose the same when we pick our next destination!!!

Paradisus Varadero: Basic Resort-No; Royal Service-Yes

Main resort--Busy, loud, full of kids Royal Service--worth the price Main Resort--service, room quality (furniture/style, cleanliness)-dated and not 5 star Beach--beautiful; long walks a must Night-life--none

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good

Nice Beaches,very bad service, a lots cockroaches...I was not expecting good food...but I was disappointed that there were small cockroaches on top of the food in the buffet...Very bad customer service...as they say they have problems in management, i would not go back to that hotel.

Melia Marina Varadero: Still Good but not on the first floor

This was the 3rd time we went to Melia Marina Varadero. We have young kids (age 6 and 8) and each time they have had a great time. The food was good as always and the staff was great. Don't get a room on the first floor - we found a large cockroach in our room. The screen door didn't close properly and that could be how it got in. Anyway, after it was disposed of the front desk staff were quick in giving us another room on the 3rd floor. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Iberostar Laguna Azul

The overall resort was beautiful but, unfortunately, needs maintenance in order to keep a good reputation. Elevators did not all work, and some worked poorly at times. This makes it difficult especially for people with mobility issues or small children. Food was typically Cuban, but there is no reason why every meal has to be cold - all day long! The main buffet area was large, so had to often wait for the table to be set up, or for requests for anything, especially salt. Shaded areas at th [... read more]e pools and beach were not adequate, as well as many shingles missing on the bungalows, mainly due to the hurricanes last fall, but lead to more problems later on. The lobby was beautiful, entertainment there very good, but at the theatre it was very repetitious, with very agile dancers every night.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Good stay for the price

Hotel grounds were nice but somewhat dated. Rooms are ok. Typical Cuba so it is to be expected. Bathrooms need updating but the A/C was extremely good. Hotel staff were amazing and made the trip worthwhile. Short 25 min walk to downtown Varadero.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Truly an amazing resort!

Blau Marina Varadero Resort is an exceptional resort. The rooms were very clean and I felt very comfortable in my room. It was like sleeping at home. I loved the food! There were so many choices, the flavour and presentation was exceptional. Even if you were fussy, which my husband is, you would find something you liked. The grounds and the hotel facility was clean and was well kept. Loved the pool and when I was tired of the pool, the beach was a great place to hang out too. Someone would always ask how you were enjoying your stay because they wanted to make sure you happy, which we were. Overall our stay there was very enjoyable and we would return to Blau Marina Varadero.
