Hotel Playa Paraiso: Wonderful Resort

Beautiful resort. Lovely rooms, great staff, beautiful pool area and beach. Could definitely use some improvement in the food area. Same grill every night. What can I say, food is average but then this is Cuba!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great Resort

Grounds and buildings were excellent. Public areas were well maintained and exceptionally clean. Pool and beach were very clean. Staff were attentive to our needs -they did a room change and maintenance as required. Pool music was far too loud most of the time. Nightly entertainment was excessively loud - we could not stay for it and saw others putting Kleenex in their ears. Food was poor even by Cuban standards. Over salted, cool to cold, sometimes raw and other times overcooked. Having visited [... read more] Cuba 16 times, I have something to compare it to. Good Transat rep (she was Cuban).

Melia Jardines del Rey: Very nice resort, great pools, restaaurants

Very nice resort, great service, excellent food and selection, very clean, great tennis courts, landscaping being completed to new part of the resort, excellent restaurants for quality meals and menu selection, very nice ambience

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very nice resort

Our room was clean - air conditioning worked great and in October,we sure needed it. Our chambermaid was awesome. Pool was very busy and very little shade so we only went there after 4pm. Snorkeling was good to the left of the resort (not the Diamond Club side). We prefer a beach where you can spread out more. The beach area to lounge felt very crowded and not enough shade. Towel exchange was poor - available only 1 time during the week. Would definitely return.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average

The beach was beautiful. The room was simple. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom had issues with the toilet. A new tank was put in. Food was average. Not much of a change in variety from day to day. Overall, it was good value for what I paid

Melia Jardines del Rey: A beautiful large resort

We arrived Melia Jardines late in the evening, cause Sunwing flight was delayed 2 hrs to fix the door switch of the plane. Check-in was like a breeze, and organized, that was a good start. The 24 hrs snack bar was still open and we had a good late dinner, even ice cream and caramel cake were served for dessert. :) with a nice music from the speakers. We had stir- fried spawns one or two occasions, it was yummy. The beach was a disappointment dues to coral and rock, no sand or too small beach/ no beach . We had to walk far 100m to the left to the Pestana hotel beach in order to swim. At the border of two resorts Pestana and Melia Jardines, there are some beach chairs cost $2 / each for Melia customers. So for me, it is not right. The Melia should provide beach chairs for free to their guests, at least, to compensate their lacking of beach. We never tried the pools. They have a foam party every Friday or so around 4 PM, and it was fun, a lot of youngsters and dances...and it was fun to watch too. The employees are nice, friendly and helpful. They are well-trained in customer services, and we tipped a lot as we were happy to have their services. The mosquito was a killer. Despite of bringing insect repellent, we still had got bitten, my brother never had been bitten at other resorts, but got a lot at Melia. I think it is from the lagoons, I don't know what they were called, the shallow water around the resort that near to the beach...The resort has fumigate in the early evening, but still not prevent the hungry mosquitoes... The resort itself is beautiful and large, the good thing is they have the shuttles running around the resort so often. So the people with mobility issues will find it convenient. We stayed at building 12, it is good to walk to the beach and the lobby or restaurant, it took around 3,4 minutes. The entertainment were very good, a lot of music bands in the evening plus the main shows that start at 9:30 PM. They have a lot of talented dancers, the Michael Jackson show was excellent. However, we found that night shows a bit boring as they just have dance repeatedly night after night, they can alter with magic or funny magic...or singing. I know Cuban artist is very good. The white night show was good too. It was actually a fashion show and disco night. It was fun. we loved it as we could not find a disco at the resort, until the last couple days we found a little town which from the theater you can walk behind it to pass the gym and medical office to get to a little town that consist of a disco, a Japanese restaurant $, a spa $, souvenir shops...etc...the disco $5 CUC for entrance.. I found Melia Jardines has a lot of activities, they are so lively and full of energy. They have dance lesson, Spanish lesson...etc...the entertainment team at the pool is active. The room was good and clean. It is great to sit at the lobby,which is huge, a lot of chairs and tables and beds....and get some breezes...We enjoyed sitting there after lunch to chat and drink. We went to Pilar beach. It is so beautiful...we saw fish and jellyfish... We absolutely will return to Melia Jardines del Rey, and we recommend it to our friend and family.

Hotel Playa Coco: Worst all inclusive I've ever stayed at!

Issues from room - food- service- music .. everything terrible about this vacation spot needs a total makeover and much improvement. For what is rated a 4 star hotel please note all the serious issues

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great place to stay

The grounds are beautifully kept, easy to get around. The rooms are a nice size. The beach is awesome and you can go for long walks. All the staff at this resort are very friendly and always willing to help

Grounds and beach very nice. Entertainment very good. Food was awful but that was not something I was worried about. there was a problem with beach towels. Even though I told at the front desk that we don't have towels, we received them the day before we left. Luckily we had our own towels.

Hotel Playa Coco: One of the BEST hotels in Cuba

We have been to this resort twice and Cuba seventeen times. The food is good, the booze is good, the staff are great and the "BEACH" is like no other!!! We will be going back in March for another vacation. :)

Hotel Playa Coco: Nice resort

Over all a nice place with friendly staff. Has lots of renovations going on. Some bathrooms don't have toilet seats. Bring band aids as it's hard to get at the hotel. Nice pool and beach. The restaurants we a must go.

Hotel Playa Coco: You get what you pay for.

It was quite alright, no gushing praise no huge complaints.Gorgeous beach. Resort a bit run down but okay. We were return guests and would probably go again for that price. Lots of warm sun and smiles.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Met and even exceeded our expectations!

This hotel is clean, the service is sincere and the meals are good (comparable to Dominican Republic). The only down size, if any, is the beach where you nead (it is better if you have) a pair of shoes to get in the water because there is a bit of coral sea entering the water. The sand is white and the water turquoise. There is good animation and shows at night. Always remember that we only pay around a $1000/week/person to be there.... manage your expectations.

Hotel Vigia: Good value for price paid amazing beach!!!

This resort could be a jewel but Sol Melia needs to spend some money to bring it back to its glory. They are out on the beach daily raking the sea debris. The hotel was not at capacity and lots of available loungers at beach and pool On the calm days, you can walk forever it seems because of the sand bars. The food in general is fine. As I've always said, you don't go to Cuba if you are a foodie. You don't go hungry but you don't rave about it either. I ate buffet every day. Breakfast starts at [... read more] 7:30, lunch at 1 and dinner at 7:30. A few people I met thought the buffet should open earlier. Besides the buffet there are 3 stations, in the morning there is the omelette/egg station, and a pancake/french toast station. Lunch and dinner they are grilled meat, pasta and grilled fish. I did the pasta station daily, the sauces don't have much taste but sometimes they had garlic, tomato, peppers and ham to add to your sauce mixture and most days padano was available to sprinkle on top. I also did the grilled fish daily for calamari. They also had 2-3 types of fish and shrimp. Again, they had salt, spices and oil did add on top. If you were later for meals, the paella was gone. There was the usual fare of food on the buffet, a few things for salads, cheese, cold cuts and breads. Typically there was: corn, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, fries, rice, chicken pieces in sauce, beef in sauce, lamb in sauce and some type of fish. They also carved beef most days. Breakfast had great fresh fruit but sadly that was not available for lunch or dinner. There was an assortment of sweet rolls at breakfast and yogurt. Lunch/dinner had an assortment of desserts and ice cream. If you wanted, you could grab a snack at the snack bar, close to the stage. They are open when the buffet is close, prior to lunch and between lunch and dinner. They have mini pizza, burgers, hot dogs and ham/cheese sandwiches. The new Ranchon looks like it is several months away from opening. It is on the west side of the resort and beach front. The old beach bar is still on the west side next to the beach, and the lunch time grill was open most days, offering burgers, fish, chicken and pork if you were early enough. The lobby bar is open in the evenings and the regular bar by the stage is 24 hours. If you are on the beach on the west side of the resort you have to walk to a bar, there is nothing close. We got to the resort at noon but our rooms weren't available until 3. Front desk staff are very good to work with for check in/out, currency exchange and other questions. Beach towels are at the hut by the pool/stage. My room was fine ocean view. We had an incident next door a tourist got very violent at 2.00 in the morning was screaming in Russian and pounding on other guests room windows and doors. He ended up kicking down his own down and destroying the room including the patio door glass. This glass was still all over the grass and patio 2 days later which was a great concern as we travelled with a 4 year old child. The room was cleaned daily Towels were folded if not placed on the floor in the shower stall. You pay for your safety deposit box. I had an issue with a fridge which was fixed in a few hours. The chamber maid was a very kind soul named Juani she did her best to welcome us back to the room with towel art and flowers ect. There were roach type bug I saw in my room in the evening so I placed by bath mat at the gap in the hotel door at night. We had a few things stolen from our balcony a t-shirt, bathing suit and socks. This was most likely tourists. I did not stay around the pool day time so I can't comment on the animation team, although they did nothing on the beach. I stayed for the show a few nights. I was disappointed, the evening shows were not up to the same level they were 3 years ago. One night the show was a quiz type night and another had the house band play at the disco with the dancers getting guests to dance with them. The disco was not always open. I met some great people from Argentina, Edmonton, Hamilton, Italy, Montreal, Saskatoon, Toronto and the UK. I'm not complaining, for the price I paid it was an OK vacation. The hotel can't control the weather nor the infestation of mosquitoes in all of Cayo Coco. This was my 11th time in Cuba. I would rate this resort a 3 by Cuba standards.

Hotel Mojito: Excellent resort

Very good service and friendly . Garden and housekeeping was clean. Just one thing border me was a lot of mosquitoes beat !! Definitely I will be back again. At the last time I been there . I was not see any show music. Hopefully next time have show for enjoy .

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Very welcoming

Well design campus, service was friendly and very good. Beach was great for both relaxing and going for long walks (bring water shoes due to rocky spots along the way). Beach side BBQ chicken and pizza at lunch was the best part of the day for us. Gym was a little small and under equipped but got our work out in most days, except when employees took it over in later afternoon. Did the catamaran and glass bottom boat both were great.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Third time not so Nice

This is the 3rd yr we went at about the same time in November to the same Memories Flamenco Cayo Coco. Check in was smooth as they did it at the airport rather that the lobby. Short 25 minute bus to Hotel. Once there things got bad- no water in room- room was a mess, cabinets broke and unusable, Safe had sticky numbers, Electrical switch hanging from wall, Shower diverter valve broken, the mattress on one of the beds was caved in, and the room had a terrible musty smell. I tried to use the room  [... read more]phone several times with no responses. I attended the front lobby Memories rep 'Marianne' who quickly gave us another room in a different building and advised they would take the room off the list until repairs had been completed (within a few days that rm was occupied and I spoke to the guests which had same issues). Our new room still had no water- limited water at times- and at times no hot water. The Hotel rep advised that this was a issue in the entire resort however this was not the case. Eventually near the end of the trip they had the issue with the water fixed. Major issue which we were basically without no information from Sunwing Rep. We were advised by hotel Rep Marianne that since we were repeat customers (some repeat guests received different colour armbands-we didn't) a special lobster dinner was happening on the Monday evening- which on Monday turned out to be some beef -no lobster- which was tough and was told the hotel changed the menu- it was the worst meal there. Buffet-beach grille- Restaurants-snack bar was great. Although we for some reason had no bacon at this resort (next door resort did as we peeked) I felt the staff were great in the day to day operation. The beach is the same- old coral in spots so you need water shoes and need to be careful still. Take a flashlight with you- walkways are dark-lights not working or removed in areas. As I mentioned this is the third year at this Memories and I did not see the manager Jesus, who in previous years was visible all over the resort. I was advised he had been moved to another Memories. I wonder if this may have been a factor in the condition of this resort. From the 3 years I see issues of maintenance falling downhill. We might go back but will be watching reviews closely.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Beach Resort

The resort was welcoming, very clean, has a great beach, and has a nice pool. Service was great and prompt. Get to the beach early to claim a good spot (shade or sun) with your towel. The water is shallow and you have to walk out a bit to get neck deep, which makes it safe and warm to swim or just play in. The beach bar has ample drinks, and the snack shack serves nice pizzas besides hamburgers and hot dogs. At the pool there is a small bar stand, a pool side bar for people in the water, and a covered sit-down area with a great bar and really great french fries and pizza, besides the regular hamburgers and hot dogs. The buffet restaurant is good, but you won't gain weight unless you go for the nice fresh bread, deserts, and ice cream which is provided in sealed quart containers (so no kids dipping into huge ice cream buckets! ). Cuban beef is usually tough, but the fish is usually great as is the fresh fruit. The is enough variety at the buffet to allow you to find something good, though it could have had more cereals for breakfast, but the omelets are great and there is lots of juice and nice coffee. The only a la cart restaurant we tried (Mediterranean) was quite good (the soup and main fist dish was great; the shrimp cocktail had very nice shrimp but no sauce just crushed pineapple!). We liked some of the evening entertainment such as the water dance show and the Michel Jackson show. There was a a variety of Cuban dance shows, but we also like the bars and playing cards. The lobby bar was very nice and we played cards and sampled a variety of drinks. One evening at the buffet has a saxophone player provide great music and we stayed till closing drinking wine. Another night we found a portable bar with great Spanish Coffee. The bartender poured burning blue liquid into metal coups a few times to heat the mixture. In the dim lighting it looked great - a waterfall of blue fire. Luckily, our very nice rooms were not too far a walk, and the comfortable king size bed was always welcoming after a busy and fun day.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Sun, sand & full moon!!

The resort was beautifully designed & maintained. The staff were enthusiastic & very friendly. The beach was beyond what you could imagine with water turquoise blue. The whole vacation was everything I desired it to be & more!!

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort for Quite Relaxation

Very Clean Overall. Quiet and Relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable and Spacious Rooms. Older but clean..could use some renovating especially in Bathtub Fixtures. Beach very nice and clean. Buffet Restaurant offers lots of choice and food was quite good overall. Service/servers were excellent. Nightly entertainment was good but could use more variety. The staff (front desk,buffet restaurant, bar, groundskeepers) made us feel very welcome.
