Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: Amazing Resort
This was our first trip since covid, we usually travel twice a year and where not disappointed! Here's the reality covid has changed some things but they made it easy and worked hard to make sure we were always taken care of. Resort itself is just beautiful, rooms, landscaping and layout is fantastic. We stayed adult side and enjoyed every minute at the pool. The staff, restaurants and food where fantastic! Great selection, lots to choose from, we did find lunch a bit lacking on the adult side b[... read more]ut noticed they started a lunch grill station and every day it got better and better so they are on it. The only one negative is the nightlife...its available at the main bar and it is thriving as is the disco BUT it's also with kids...meaning 18 yr Olds as they can drink are over taking the space and just wasn't for us. I highly suggest they turn the adult lobby area with a bar no one uses into the adult club at night or put an older age limit at the disco. But that's all I can say in the way of a negative everything was A+

Canto Del Sol: Very clean resort
Spent a week at the resort, we were placed in the rear villa's which was a very short walk to the main resort. The pool by the villa's was quiet and had bar service all afternoon. We found all the pools, bar, restaurants and bathrooms always very clean. Rooms were nice but nothing fancy just a room. Food at the buffet was very limited with the same selection on both sides of the buffet line, there was no pasta station or really any fresh grill options. There was still aways something to eat and [... read more]there was also other option at the resort to eat including the snack bar (very popular for lunch) and 3 specialty restaurants which we only tried the Italian and was not a huge fan.
Only recommendation to the resort is to ad more option to the buffet, other then that great resort and great people.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Pro’s and Con’s with this Resort
The grounds of the resort were amazing. Very jungle like/rain forest atmosphere. Lots of wildlife running all around.
Eco family Superior room was nice, updated, comfortable.
I agree with many others that the food was not a strong point here. Buffets didn’t seem to change much each day. Food was tolerable, but more like high end Cuban Buffet. Drinks seemed to be pretty weak.
The a la cartes were quite nice. Japanese was amazing and the only restaurant that you can make a[... read more] reservation for. All the others, you just show up and stand in line.
There were some different fun activities at the resort. Jade River snorkel tour, Cenote swims, walking tours, photo safari, romantic boat tour.
We paid extra for a Segway tour around the resort, which was fun.
And of course the water slides were fun for the kids. Lots of slides for all age groups.
Beach had a HUGE amount of sea weed so we didn’t spend much time there.
All in all, if the food quality doesn’t matter, you’ll probably enjoy this resort. Definitely different from the standard Caribbean resort.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Will definitely return to this resort!
Can’t say enough good things about this hotel! The grounds were spotless, no garbage anywhere, empty dishes were picked up immediately. Someone was always cleaning tables floors and bathroom. They went to great lengths to keep the property clean. They enforced mask rules during buffet dinners, food handlers always wore gloves. Rooms were spacious and very clean. My only issue with the room was that the mini bar wasn’t stocked one day, no biggie they filled when asked and the showers water le[... read more]aks on the floor a bit because of the shower’s design but a bath towel takes care of it. We stayed in the adults only club side ( elegance package) comes with a personal butler. This was well worth the upgrade as Alexa our butler was absolutely amazing. She took care of everything and I mean everything. large number of bars and restaurants, food and drinks were amazing in every restaurant. I recommend the steak house and Italian. Never had a problem getting a pool chair as staff brings them to you and monitor towels without anyone there, I loved this feature! Pools were great and lots of them and very clean. The day and night entertainment were amazing. Always something going on but you only had to participate if you wanted. If you are looking for fun in the sun or a relaxing vacation away, they offer both. But what makes this resort the best I’ve been to ( I have been to 7) is definitely the staff. The resort is 5 stars the staff are 10 stars. From our personal butler ( Alexa), bartenders ( Rogelio, Abby, Isai and Limbeth), entertainment star (Andrea) to night time server (Ever), yes I remember all their names, they are that good! I would highly recommend this resort, you will not be disappointed.

Samba Vallarta: Not good
Well, we got food poisoning here-quite badly so that knocked 3 days of 7 as AWFUL....and I mean AWFUL. The pool is LOUD from noon to 1:30 AM (the pool restaurant acts as a disco at night). and this is all center of the hotel so it's loud. There is no swim up bar OR quiet (adult pool)....so the place is loud. It's old and VERY dark too. On the other side of the resort is a loud RIU pool so it's always loud. Fine if that's your thing. We di pay $80 more American for a room out front which was a bi[... read more]t nicer and a bit quieter.

Riu Santa Fe: Zero stars
I would like to let you know about the experience my husband and I had at your hotel this past week. I realize in life things happen; however, a few things are a definite deal breaker when it comes to vacationing.
Right from the start of our check in things did not go well. We were literally given the wrong room-the names on the envelope were not ours. I had even downloaded the app and checked in prior. We went back and questioned it and were immediately dismissed being told it was a sup[... read more]erior room and they couldn't down grade us, my sister in law had found out we were in building 7 (she was already there ) and this was building 8. We were also told there was no Kingsize beds in building 7 so we had to stay in building 8. (Obviously a total lie ) We stayed that night and went back the next day as we knew it wasn't what we booked. After a very long wait and total confusion from the front desk as she couldn't find us under that room number it was confirmed it wasn't our room and handed us the right envelope with our name on it wasting more of our precious vacationing time as again your lines are long . Went to the next room (3 rooms in total we had to change- the only positive thing was that in the 3rd room there was hot water- none in the previous rooms ) nothing worked, safe, telephone nothing stocked in our fridge/alcohol we were told the room was ready and there was literally a maintenance man in the ceiling upon arrival.
Waited 2 hours for someone to come, which they never did and once again, we went back and put in a formal complaint. Manuel Romero addressed our concerns and really did a fantastic job listening to our concerns. His professionalism and follow through was impressive. He even came and found us a few times poolside. He upgraded us to a ocean view room and sent us a bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the issues. There is a terrible breakdown in communication at your resort. Every time we asked a question the answer was different or staff was just in general rude. I went to ask a question the night before we left about what time the bus was picking us up. I did not realize we were to go to a Sunwing rep and I spoke with Lupida at the front desk she was not only rude but very disrespectful to my sister in law and I. I understand that we as travelers have some responsibilities to find information, however we weren't told to go find them. At most hotels they have a departure book with times in it. My mistake for thinking that was how It worked at your resort as this is my first experience at a Riu.
The lineups for everything on your resort is unacceptable, drinks, taco stand, front desk etc. My biggest area of concern is the food . At the pasta restaurant I literally found moldy pizza buns (I took a picture) I pointed it out to the staff and they did remove only two of the buns-I asked him to throw all of them out - mold when airborne spreads like dandelion lion seeds , he refused, not sure if your aware but mold on food can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems in the right conditions just for starters , look up mycotoxins . A lot of food was over cooked, sausages so discusting they looked like they had been left out for days- we took a picture , bacon , Burnt hot dogs and hamburgers -why would you even put this out? Also, undercooked potatoes , very spoiled fruit, lettuce etc. The fish and seafood did not smell right or taste right I tried it upon arrival and immediately spit it out. I avoided most of the meat presented and ate rice and vegetables for the week or we ate off resort. My question to your establishment is do you have food safety regulations? Someone is going to get very sick if this continues. The food was consistently cold no matter where you ate, or stale. There is hot/cold holding regulations. Meat Should be constantly temped. Honestly you can do better! This is not a place I would ever come back to or visit a different Riu.
Also what's up with the WiFi? Always down or went in and out. Just a really bad experience I will not recommend. Zero stars. Absolutely discusted and disappointed. I'm wondering if this should go to social media. M&L Dunn

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice resort but no beach and seaweed problem
This property is very beautiful but my only qualm is the beach was infested with seaweed and there was a strong stench most of the time. Luckily there was two pools to enjoy during our stay the only fallback with the pools was that you had to get up early just to save a chair. Food was good nothing that I havent had before. I will give kudos to the Japanese restaurant which was amazing. Entertainment was a lot of lip synching shows. The only show I truly liked was the Mexican night in the l[... read more]obby bar of Riviera side. c
Rooms were dated and there was plumbing problems and AC issues in our room.
Overall I would not stay here again as there was no beach and it was too far from the airport.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: Awesome Resort!
Thanks to Nicole Deforest from Trip Central our trip was Perfect. From the time we booked till the time we got off the plane in Calgary. Everything went very smooth. This Hotel is one of our favorite's, you may pay a little more but its certainly worth it. When we checked in we were greeted with a glass of Champaign and a wash cloth. Check in took about 2 minutes, our bags were at our room by they time we got there. The room was very clean and a certificate was tapped to the entrance door let[... read more]ting us know that it had been sanitized. That was very comforting. All the staff were required to wear face masks and they were continually whipping down and cleaning chairs, tables and even the pool. The food quality in all the restaurant's were 5 star and we really had difficulty deciding where to eat our next meal....lol... really! Yes we would recommend this Hotel and Yes we will be returning .....SOON!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Clean resort
Just returned home from a 14 night stay at the Barcelona Colonial.
First and foremost, the resort and amenities are spotless ! Our lovely cleaning lady (Wilma) was amazing, and always left little towel statues to surprise us. The friendly staff are continually cleaning and reinforcing masks to enter the buffet as well as during plating.
The evening entertainment at the theatre is very well done, however there is music lacking (nonexistent) in the lobby bar as well as around the pool.
The Be[... read more]ach….TERRIBLE ! Not a resort if your a lover of the beach. Very rocky in the water with only a few spots to enter safely.
The resort itself, there is lots to see and do with the mall, bowling, hockey rink, mini golf, wave runner, zip lining, parasailing and the market.
The resort was a typical North American Resort lacking Mexican Vibes.

Dreams Huatulco: Amazing resort!
The hotel was lovely. Super clean and very adherent to Covid-19 protocols. The beach was very nice. The pools were fantastic as they had 3 infinity edge pools that face the ocean which makes for amazing views. The food was very good, many things made to order. Now to talk about the staff! They were incredible! I can’t say enough great things about the staff! They worked so hard to make our holiday amazing. Our air conditioner went one night, they had it fixed in an hour. The poolside[... read more] staff worked so hard moving chairs and umbrellas for people to give everyone a spot. The man that was in charge around the pool did a great job of actually removing towels that were just left on chairs. This is the nicest resort we have stayed in yet, probably our 14th all inclusive and this was the best! The town around hotel is really nice and worth a visit to their few restaurants and shops.

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: The staff were fantastic!
This was my third visit to the Royal Decameron in Los Cabo’s. It is a smaller resort which we prefer. We felt as safe with their COVID protocols. The staff were constantly cleaning all the surfaces. We were required to wear masks indoors and while getting food from the buffet. The staff served the food from behind plexiglass, which was a bit annoying because they often piled too much on our plates and the food didn’t always stay hot by the time you sent to the different stations, but un[... read more]derstandable. The pools were clean and you could always find a chair. A few more umbrellas would be nice. Overall the resort is getting a little tired. It could use some sprucing up in some areas but it was nice and clean and the staff were amazing. Everyone from the front desk, the restaurant staff, the bartenders to the cleaning staff bent over backwards to ensure we had a good time.

Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta: A 3.5 star at 4.5 prices
While this hotel is situated on a lovely beach I cannot recommend staying there for a number of reasons, the first of which is no fault of the resort. The location and geography meant that the sun does not hit the beach until noon this time of year, and the pools even later. The rooms themselves are pleasant enough, but older and poorly maintained i.e. blocked shower drain, broken lampshades (with blood splatter), etc. Housekeeping seemed to come either too early (8:30 am) or too late in the day[... read more] (5:30 pm) and wasn't particularly thorough. The food at the lunch buffet was low quality and poorly prepared. The 3 a la carte restaurants were better, but the menu never changes. The resort is popular for weddings (3 in 11 days). The resort is relatively small so access was denied to portions of the beach and other facilities during these events (despite the fact you paid for access to the entire resort). It also means a lot of noise directly in front of the rooms for setup, the event and tear-down. It is also popular with families and there are lots of kids everywhere, including in both main pools (which are cold). This is despite the fact that there is a separate kid's pool. In short, don't do it - you can find better.

Secrets Huatulco: What you make of it is what counts.
My husband and I stayed from March 26 - April 4, 2022.
The resort is beautiful, and the staff is extremely helpful and extremely friendly. The views were amazing all day long, you could not get enough of admiring how beautiful the bay was to look at. The weather was near perfect and according to the locals its like that a majority of the year.
The layout of the resort is really easy to navigate around, the grounds are well kept, the main areas were very clean, the bars had decent service and [... read more]the bartenders were always smiling. The food everywhere was fantastic, I'd be surprised to read if someone had a different opinion.
Covid protocols are in place in communal areas of the hotel, main lobby, restaurants, elevators etc. I felt comfortable and safe. There were no issues when it came to cleanliness anywhere in the resort at all in fact.
We met a lot of really great people from all over: Canada, USA, Columbia, and other parts of Mexico. We had a great time, we enjoyed our vacation, but we made the best of the thing in which we were not so excited about.
The beach is not great for swimming, so if this is a large part of your vacations daily routine you will be disappointed. The red flag was up every day we were there, and from speaking with people who work at the resort, it stays this way a majority of the time. The undertow is quite strong, and unfortunately while we were there, a few days also had blue flags which means jellyfish. The beach area was hard to find a chair as there are not many to be had as its a rather small area, AND if you were not up before sunrise, they were all reserved with random towels. It was not until our second last day that we finally saw the staff removing these "held chairs" and giving them to people who were actually there to enjoy the beach.
On a side note, if you do get a beach spot: The sand is very granulated so be prepared for really HOT sand and I mean hot.
Now the pool is a whole other storey, so I will start with the things in which were positive first: the pool bar was always busy and man the staff moved so make sure you tip them well, they do an excellent job. The wait staff around the pool was fabulous, very courteous, we watched them serve not only the pool but the swim up rooms as well - fantastic job to them as they hustled, and they always remembered your face and a majority of the time what you were drinking. The entertainment staff was engaging, and they tried their best daily to get people involved, most days were a success, a few days were a little scarce for them, but job well done.
Do you like to sit and lounge around the pool? Me: yes, I like to read and then dip, splash, swim, and repeat.
Do you like to get up at 3 am during your vacation? Me: OH, HELL NO, however if you would like a spot to sit around the pool then this seems to be the course of action.
This is really the only negative thing I can say about the resort, there is not enough seating for all their vacationers or even 25% to be more exact.
We had a small confrontation with another set of vacationers, they showed up around 2pm. We had taken their chairs; we had walked around the pool several times in the span of an hour and noticed a set of chairs not being used. We asked the couple sitting beside them if anyone had been there yet that day? The reply was, no, they had been there since 7:30 am and no one had come to those chairs. This is now 12ish. So, we approached one of the pool staff, asking if it was ok to take them, and their reply was yes. So, we sat pulled out our books and read for a while, then in pool, splash, read, repeat.... Needless to say, they came back 7 hrs after placing their towels on the chairs and wanted us to move. I offered one of the two chairs to make it fair, but she was not happy about my compromise. In the end I did not move, and she left saying nasty things aloud. So, please do not be a Karen to others that may want to use the pool while you are not, it makes everyone enjoy their vacations as much as the other.
Overall, we had a good vacation, we made the best of the pool situation and either just dropped our bags on the grass or waiting for someone to leave/give up their chairs , not ideal while paying a bit more for this resort. We would likely not go back to this resort as it was just not for us (but if we did we would book a swim out suite, as your always guaranteed a chair), however we will go back and try another location in this area of Mexico.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great Resort and Vacation
Occidental was a great resort. Lots of places to swim, eat and get some nice drinks. There wasn't too much soliciting, which was something that came up a bit in other reviews. The shuttles from the aiport to the resort are difficult to navigate and they appear to wait until they have enough passengers to make it worth the trip, so that is something Westjet and Tripcentral should look into. But the resort was great, we will be back again.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort
The hotel was fantastic because it was so central to everything we wanted to see and do. The entertainment was excellent, but I found it to be a little too short, as the hour flew by. The chicken at the Italian restaurant was the best I'd ever had. Overall, the food was good
