Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Good and Bad

The staff at this resort are exceptional. With few exceptions the staff were highly competent, friendly and helpful. The exception being the guy providing drink service at the beach. The food was the best I've had at an all inclusive. The hot stone cooking, the wood fired pizza oven and the buffet were all wonderful. The hotel room was lacking in quality with issues such as a bathroom floor drain that smelled, a bathtub setup that was dangerous ( big step down) and pipes that leaked throu [... read more]gh the ceiling from above.

Kunuku Aqua Resort: Super Resort

The hotel or resort was extremely tidy and super maintained, smaller resort with great water slides and super cleaning staff. Food was well prepared and tasty and offered variety day after day. Having the shuttle to and from the airport and to the capital was a plus as well. We're glad to have been there!

Esmeralda Resort: disappointing !

WITHOUT PREJUDICE : We have been going to Saint Martin since 1994. Our last visit was at La Samana, 7 years ago and it was great but we missed the Orient Beach atmosphere. Having visited Esmeralda while vacationing elsewhere on Orient Bay, we decided this year to book two weeks at this resort. To put it kindly, the resort needs a lot of loving care and and renos.The pictures on their website are probably dated back to when it opened some 25-30 years ago. We had major issues with methane gas in [... read more] our room coming from the sanitary system. The second week we were there, we requested on numerous occasions that the problem be resolved but to no avail. On the fourth day of our complaints, finally the assistant director,Audrey was on site and she immediately took control of the situation and sent maintenance people to inspect and try and correct the problem. We even changed rooms but the problem persisted. Finally on the day we were packing our suitcases, we saw a family of mice running along in the bedroom and kitchen..... We had other minor issues such as exterior night lighting not working that was never attended to etc. Again, very disappointing indeed !

Sonesta Maho Beach: Last minute Vacay!!!

My family and myself just recently spent our winter xmas break in St. Martens at The Sonesto Maho Beach Resort. As always no resort is perfect. There are some good and some bad about Sonesto but all in all we did have a enjoyable vacation and would suggest it to friends and family for a good, value friendly, family oriented and right in the heart of Maho kind of resort. With the continuing rennovations it should turn into a great little resort!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Excellent

I enjoyed the resort. It was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The main downside was the fact that you could not make diner arrangements ahead of times. Having to wait in line every night hoping to get a table before 9hoo was frustrating. Also the nighttime entertainment could have been more exciting.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great place overall

There are two things that could do with improvements: 1. The latest renovation left some rooms with water from the shower flooding the bathroom, instead of flowing into the drain! 2. The beach is abrupt and rocky

Sonesta Maho Beach: Nice resort

Our recent stay at Sonesta Maho Beach was very good. It started out bad as we got to our room to discover there was only one queen size bed (for 4 people). I had to go back to reception and of course they did not have anything available right away. The young woman at the reception was really nice and a couple hours after was able to give us a renovated room with two beds on upper floor. The food was really good and tasty. Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Could be better for the price we paid.

Rooms - overall clean and linen/towels very clean. Room Beds - Not good. We first had a room on the hill side which we changed after two days due to roosters. No big deal, we upgraded to a beach view room on the other side of the hotel which was quiet but the beds’ mattresses were old and sunken in, an impediment to get a good sleep. Room Washroom - There was a rusted metal bar on the ceiling on top of the bath tub and the ceiling was damaged by water leak, not very reassuring, we wee worr [... read more]y that the entire ceiling may collapse while we are taking a shower. Room Service - Very good. Restaurants: Lobby Restaurant - Very good. BBQ and Buffet Restaurants – breakfast, deserts and the chicken good but other food not so good. - More food variety would be appreciated. - Fish soup missing, we went outside the hotel and we had good fish soups - Fruits and Vegetables not mature enough, no taste at all. Resort: - The bathrooms on the beach, and in the lower level of the lobby were smelly, not enough air exchange probably, the only choices we had was to use the washroom in the lobby or go back to our room. - There was something wrong with the stairs down from the lobby, not sure what, either the height or the width were not to standards. Few time my husband and I almost fail down. - The hotel VIP services were not clear to other guests. The front row beach chairs were all the time taken and there was no label on the umbrellas or on the chairs to let other guest know that the chairs are reserved. Every day someone was kicked out and moved to another umbrella on the back rows. People were not happy about this, they were talking among themselves. - The showers on the beach and on the pool area were not efficient, not enough water pressure and they had no spouts for the feet area. We were trying not to get the sand from the beach into the pool area but we could not wash our feet very well. - We went to a fishing trip through the guest services that was very unpleasant. The weather was not too good and I think the trip should be cancelled or postponed when the weather is not appropriate. Too much wind to be safe. We have been in many of these fishing trips in other islands such as Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and others but we never had such a scary experience. I know it is a lot of money for the owners of the boats but the hotel somehow should control their decisions to go out when it is dangerous. For the first time in 40 years of vacationing and fishing in the sea we got sick and came back with lots of bruises from being on the boat. Very bad experience, we were lucky a misfortune did not happen. Most of the people working there were nice to us. Regards.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Needs work

grounds were beautiful; beach and water were breath taking. Food was okay; 6 of the 9 people in our group developed food poisoning to which the hotel staff were less then kind about. The rooms were disgusting!!!!

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Nice Resort

Hotel is a bit dated but kept clean ... beach and pool area very welcoming... Restaurants limited on site .. restaurant on lobby level was very nice ..restrictions for outdoor bed usage ridiculous considering no elite were using them ....need music played around the pool areas not just the swim up bar...nite time entertainment almost non-existent....thank god for the casino ! Overall rating out if ten ... 6

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Good resort. Good value

Sunscape is a solid value for the money. The rooms are clean and well looked after. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. There is not a great variety of food but it was good quality. The beach is basically a lagoon which is wonderful for small children. The town is a short bus ride away (or hotel shuttle) which is very nice.Overall I would rate Sunscape as a solid 3.5 to 4 star resort.

Kunuku Aqua Resort: Very nice location

Nice modern rooms, good food with many options (fish, beef, pork), not far from beaches, not far from Willemstad, the staff was very nice and helpful. I would go back to this resort or recommend it to my friends :)

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Outstanding!

I have vacationed at this hotel for the last 10 years and I think that says it all. While it isn't the most modern of hotels, it has the most accommodating, professional and friendliest staff of anywhere in Sint Maarten. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Wonderful Christmas Escape

Friendly staff most of whom speak excellent English. This is an older resort but they are always working to maintain it. Unfortunately, the roof of the buffet leaked the day we arrived which resulted in it being closed for several days with food being prepared and served on the pool deck. Rooms were clean but basic. Our room had an air conditioning unit that was either on or off with no temperature controls. Apparently this is not the case in every room. While there are not supposed to be reservations at any of the a la-carte restaurants, one night at the Bluewater Grill there was a number of tables that had been reserved through the lobby and this resulted in a number of people being turned away. When we requested to speak with a manager, a few tables were freed up. This is a definite inconsistency in policy. As well on both Christmas and New Year's Eve they were encouraging people to purchase bottles of wine which then meant that they would reserve a table for you.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great time at Sunscapes Curaçao

I was at the resort in December with my family. It was a great resort. Small but friendly. The beach was clean and the rooms were a good size. I would definitely recommend this resort to others and I would come back again!

La Plantation: A Welcome Break from the Standard All Inclusive!

We have done many all inclusives and wanted something different. Last yr we stayed in Jamaica at a 48 room villa, really enjoyed it and wanted that same experience. Thanks to Jairus at Trip Central, we discovered La Plantation. I don't really want to make this a great review as we would prefer to keep this place to ourselves, but they deserve the recognition. Renta [... read more]l car at the front desk and you are in the car in 20 minutes and good price. Pool/lounging area is updated, clean, relaxing. Its a 5 minute walk to the beach and its beautiful all sand and clean.Complimentary Beach chairs, all were good, we recommend Kontiki. A 7 min walk to grocery, liquor, shops, restaurants. EXPLORE:Get a car, put on your bathing suit and tshirt and explore. Oyster Bay, beautiful beach, go to Mr Buzby's, great food. Grand Case, Lolo's restaurants and others, great food, and out back the beach/lagoon all sand beautiful. Road to Butterfly farm is a quiet beach, restaurant/bar. Anse Marcel, small beach, picturesque. Many others we didn't get to. We didn't do any excursions, we will take these next time. THE BAD: We had to come home. THE GOOD: It ticked all the boxes. All the great reviews were right! We're going back!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Very disappointed!!!

We are family of eight, a family vacation to Sint.Maarten. The Sonesta Maho Resort that we stayed was really outdated. It is located on very congested area although super close to the airport. So, your only entertainment is (if you're interested in plans) watching air plane lands and takeoffs so closely. The beach is not recommended for any age because it was so rough with big waves. You have to be there ASAP it's open. They do not refill very often. A'la carte restaurants are even worse; you can only reserve on only that morning. The service and food of "Point restaurant" and "zing's restaurant really bad. 90%of the staff of the hotel are not friendly and do not smile. One day we were hungry and tired after excursion. I asked my family to stay at room and I bring pizza for all from their pizza place. Since I saw the server gave a box for a another guest, I also asked a box to carry pizza for 8 people. That server's answer was unimaginable! I never experienced these kinds of service anywhere. I have been traveling a lot. He and his assistant told me that they gave box for ONLY their favourite guest. The zing's restaurant put out a small dish of shrimp , it was empty as soon as we seated. Since we don't eat meat asked 2 different waiters that if that dish will be refilled. Both answer were so hideous. They told us it is up to the chef. We were there almost an hour and it never got refilled. Finally, there are 2 coffee machine at lobby and buffet area. 70 %of the time it didn't work. Very disappointed 😣

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Favourite family holiday!

This is a fairly small resort, so you really get to know the staff. They definitely go above and beyond, to make you feel happy! The rooms were large and comfortable. There is enough variety in the food to please everybody. It rained everyday, but only for a few minutes. There is great shopping within walking distance at Mambo beach. Also the aquarium, is only a ten minute walk away from the resort. Sunscape also provides free shuttles to Willamstead. A must see is the swinging bridge!! Th [... read more]e beach was our favourite part! The water is crystal clear! The snorkeling equipment is free, and very good quality. The variety of fish you see is breath taking! We were a group of eight, family and friends. Our ages ranged from 19 to 56. We all had a fantastic time at Sunscape!

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: great resort

The resort was fabulous the pools were emaculate. The food was fresh and well prepared , The room was not new but well kept. Hotel reservations desk helped us to see the island a heads up to Rene thanks girl. The nightly entertainment kept us dancing,5 out of seven nights. It is well worth your while to book ocean view very less noisy and great view. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Awesome Vacation in Curacao!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful beachside resort in Curacao. Gorgeous beach with a reef just in front of the hotel provides the perfect snorkelling spot! Sunscape is within walking distance to boardwalk shops, other beaches and the aquarium. Onsite casino, rock climbing walls, archery, volleyball, batting cages, scuba, lawn games and more provide endless things to do.
