Roc Barlovento: Pleasant Small Resort
Staff at the ROC Barlovento were very hard working, and very helpful and pleasant. The bedrooms and the Public areas, indoors and outside were kept clean, and the staff seemed content in their jobs, and the Resort running relatively well. My only problem was the noise level from the Pool/Entertainment area, but the Sunwing Rep helped me change my room to one that was very quiet and pleasant overlooking the Tennis Court.
Club Kawama: Great resort!
My third time to this smaller, friendly resort. Staff are nice and helpful. Grounds are well kept and they are improving each year. Food was ok at the buffet. Not as good as previous years. A la cartes were great. Upgrade your room for a more pleasant experience, although there is lots of hot water.
Club Kawama: Good resort
Service is good. Hope the room Phone can work I wish the staff can clean the seegrasses on the beach I had two days no hot water shower and the room phone was not working The beach is very nice but need the cleaner clean the seegrasses will be better The food is good
Roc Barlovento: Great resort
We had requested a quiet room with balcony with our travel agent. When we checked in were assigned room 2009. It was quiet but no balcony and was in the older section and to be honest it needed an update - old furniture, etc.and dark, which made it a little depressing. Went to front desk and requested a change, showed Sunwing magazine page that said we would be in a renovated room with a balcony or terrace. The front desk was very accommodating, we couldn't move that day but we could move to [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: Enjoyable place.
The two reservable restaurants counterbalanced the main dining room very well. An excellent place all in all. I would easily return for another vacation here. The name is a bit wonky, however, but what's in a name?
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great Beaches!
The hotel is a little older but the price was very good. It's really all about location, and that can not be beat! My family had a great stay and we were treated well by the resort staff. They went out of their way to make the trip great. The front desk staff were the exception. They didn't seem to care about anyone and were indifferent to any concerns. I'm speaking specifically about the male staff. Good luck getting water or toilet paper from them. Unfortunate considering how wonderful every [... read more]
Club Kawama: Good for the cheap price
Me, my husband and 7 month old baby visited Kawama last week. We were happy our room was close to everything since we have a baby but my moms and others were far away from the lobby, pool, main buffet...it's a pretty big resort. Everything was ok but there was no kid pool with warm water, no pool bar, not enough service (waitresses/waiters), not enough activities organized throughout the day. ONly one snack bar and beer stand....always waiting in line. THe night entertainment was great and food [... read more]
Club Karey: nice place

Club Karey: realy good place i will be return for vacation
I realy like this place it's a shame it's not promote a bit more the room was ok and the food was excellent the beach was realy nice but what I did not like I paid for 8 days but the 7days they take the room back and I need paid for an other room if we did not want stay up for more of 12 hours but wasn;t the site fault was the agent of voyage who did not do there job right
Starfish Cayo Largo: Liked it very much
Simply great resort, family friendly, clean. Simple but delicious foods. The beach was excellent, although we would prefer that the red flag wasn't seen that frequently. Personnel was very welcoming and cooperative. We were not looking for 5-star luxury, and our expectations were matched perfectly. Comparing to the neighboring Sol, it's less fancy (less vegetation, unpretentious pool, older looking buildings) but more lively (the band that was playing and dancing every night was worth that alone [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Mixed Feelings
I have mixed feeling about our stay at Sercotel Club, Cayo Guillermo, Cuba. When I initially booked the trip I upgraded to a "beach bungalow" to facilitate my mobility issues. Upon arrival, we were told that the upgraded location had been changed to the far side of the resort in multi-storey wooden buildings and was an "adults' only" area. The area itself was very picturesque but very far from the main section of the resort for someone with mobility issues. Golf carts were provided by the r [... read more]
Club Kawama: Repeat visit
We have been to this resort several times before we are able to see changes. There have been many improvements since our last visit. Our room was much cleaner than other times, the bedding and towels as white as snow. The walking paths have far better lighting and there are more nooks to sit and chat as well as towels for the beach readily available. Most beach loungers were new and undamaged. Washrooms at the pool were clean and had toilet paper most of the time. Overall, there wer [... read more]
Club Kawama: Great value for your money!
Kawama is the oldest hotel in Varadero, Fidel Castro and Jean Paul Sartre have visited there. The first time I went was 39 years ago. I have been 8 times. The grounds are lovely, so many huge old trees, and some of the buildings are 85 years old. None of the buildings are taller than two stories, and there are so many places to go for a walk while staying on the resort, we also walk in to the town of Varadero to visit the markets. The beach is lovely, the pools are good, the staff are friend [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: FEB 24/17 SUN & FUN!
I came for the great atmosphere, beautiful beaches, hot sun and daiquiris - this resort has all of this with great hospitality. I was with a group of ten friends and family. The weather was beautiful and hot. We enjoyed watching the kite surfers from the beach. Cappuccino at Sunrise in the hut over the water. Our room was quaint, spacious and clean - cottage style - located behind the pool area which was nice and close to all the amenities. I am vegetarian and thought the buffet was great. Club Kawama: Pleasantly surprised
Resort was lovely, superior room was great, food was good, pool and beach wonderful. Some tweeking needed in all areas, and priced accordingly. Would recommend. Nice to getaway from the snow and cold for a week.
Club Kawama: Very nice
Beautiful beach, clean room, decent food. Would definitely go back again. The only thing missing is entertainment, there really isn't any. Close to bank and markets. Grounds well kept and most of the staff are very helpful.
Hotel Villa Cuba: Worst Stay EVER!
The staff was rude , they locked us out of our room after we asked for a late check out and threaten myself and my husband, about keeping our passports and worst the room was full of bed bugs which we have photo proof of. I would like to speak to someone further about this as it was a VERY bad experience and I wouldn't suggest this place to ANYONE.
Club Karey: Read this before you book here!!!
This hotel is beach front but that is the only kind of good thing. The food in buffet was mostly mystery food and cold. The grill cook area was open not cooled meat trays and we watched the guy drip blood over other raw meats when cooking. Food safe procedures do not exist here. Both the pool bar and main lobby didnt know many drinks or didnt have ingredients to make them. Got charged for a safe that didnt work and they kept telling me they would fix it "tomorrow". Wish I could put a pic of my p [... read more]
Club Kawama: bad experience
dinning was the worst ever, some of that crap I would not feed to my dog. the building that we stayed in reminded me of some of the bombed out buildings that as children we played in. and those are not fond memories. the girls looking after the place do a great job with the resourses that they have.
Roc Barlovento: Excellent stay
A very good resort, clean, friendly staff and the food was good. The beach is amazing. The best I have ever seen. The entertainment during the day and at night was excellent. The location is also excellent, a walking distance from the market. Be sure to ask for the renovated rooms. I recommend this resort and will not hesitate to go back.
