The positives were:
- the restaurants were very good and we didn't need a reservation except for the Japanese restaurant
-the room was clean with a very nice shower and comfortable bed
- the buffet offered a wide variety of food
-workers were polite and friendly (Jasmine in the lobby bar was fantastic)
The negatives were:
-the beach was narrow and the chairs were packed like sardines with not enough palapas for shade
-smokers were everywhere and being so close meant that we were breathin[... read more]g their smoke all day
-in the halls of our adults only section, people would put dishes out in the hallway for pickup by the staff but they would stay there for up to a week without being picked up
-coffee was almost impossible to find in the mornings when we like to go to the beach and enjoy some early morning quiet. There was only Mike's coffee bar open at 7:30 and the line ups for the fancy coffees made it inconvenient to stand in line for.
-there was no quiet pool. The priviledge pool was the closest thing to it but you could hear the noise and activities from the other nearby pool.
-entertainment was not great and was geared towards young kids.
Excellent resort ! The food at the buffet as well as at the à la cart restaurants was always delicious - our favorite was the French restaurant. No reservations are needed except for the Japanese restaurant. Drinks are spot on - or a tad too strong even. No problem getting loungers at the beach - just beware that as at every other resort seaweed right now is a problem.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Amazing Resort
When you get to lobby, it is just amazing with the bar, the whale skeleton over it and the floors are immaculate. It was a breeze getting checked in and they take you to your room with the golf carts.
We were on the adult side with our pools and beach access and we saw the family side and it was as beautiful. Humongous water park for the kids along with 2 pools and a lazy river. They also had access to the beach on their side.
Our room was very clean and had all the usual stuff in it. We had[... read more] chosen the Junior Suite Deluxe with a whirlpool on the second floor that gave you a look over the buildings. The only issue we had is that it took way too long for it to fill up and we did not use it after all.
We ate at the restaurant called Pez Dama which is closer to the beach on the adult side. The food and service there was awesome with Manolin and Yoandys as managers, you can't go wrong. They have a Brazilian and Peruvian diner night and they alternate so you can chose which one you want.
We went to the main buffet but it did not compare with Pez Dama which was also a buffet. We tried a few restaurants that they have near the main entrance and it was first come first serve except for the Japanese one called Sakura. This one needed reservations and you had to get up very early if you wanted one (6am). We could not do it through the App, you had to be there in person. All of the restaurants menus were on the App that you had to scan at the entrance and you could order from that. If you wanted to pay more, you could get different kind of choices but had to pay extra.
The ones we tried were OK but we still went back to that little place Pez Dama. It was a cut above.
We looked at Privilege but decided not to go with it. For the difference that you pay it was not worth it (alcohol, rooms, etc). The alcohol in general was at or above what we have seen at other resorts without the Privilege option. They were not cheap with it but did not go overboard also. It was just a good balance.
The activities and games that they had at the pool was a lot of fun. Carlos and his buddies made it fun. They were handing out little bottles of Brugal "Ron". The music was not too loud and it had a good mix of everything.
The resort was extremely clean and well taken care of by the staff. We had brought some $1 American bills to tip the staff throughout our stay. We did not have too because it was all inclusive but if you wanted something, they remembered you and took care of you - food for thought.
We booked our excursion through the Air Canada Rep at the hotel and it was easier that way. All the other companies had one to book also. We did half a day of snorkeling and it was plenty. The only thing I would suggest would be to bring your own fins. We had brought our masks my wife and I expecting them to have fins but they did not. We could have used them immensely when we got in the water as we were pretty far out and had to swim to the enclosure to see the nurse sharks and the rays which was pretty awesome.
From talking to other people who went for a full day, they left around 7am to come back around 6pm and they were exhausted. Lol
The merchants who were walking the beach were not too aggressive. They would walk by and ask you but we politely said that we were not interested and they kept going.
If you are a beach person, this might not be for you as it was not a great beach but you had a little cove beside us that was good. It was windy and had some good waves at times but it was hot during our week (30 degrees). The humidity was not high so it was great.
I would recommend it to anyone either couples or families. We got an awesome place for a low price.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Awesome!
The Ocean Blue & Sand was more than we ever expected. I'll note the one negative thing but please recognize that is no fault of the resort or staff. The beach as been badly damaged from the hurricanes of 2021/22, however there is work happening daily to restore it. Thank you for trying to restore it's beauty.
The entire resort experience was amazing. The grounds are pristine with work happening all day to maintain it's beauty. The pools and Mike's Coffee were the favorite gathering spots. The [... read more]food was excellent with many many choices everywhere. Really appreciated the fact there were no reservations needed, except for the Sensai (Japanese cooking show). The wait for any of the others was not unacceptable, but worth it. Check- in and out went smoothly and very accommodating. All the staff we interacted with were gracious, pleasant and grateful. Tipping is highly encouraged (from us) as 1 US dollar and a 'thank you' can make a huge difference in someone's life. It's sad to see the "attitude of entitlement" in these environments, some vacationers could use a huge attitude adjustment. The staff we met, at all of the amenities, were such a pleasure to interact with (English wasn't always strong but 'thank you" is a global understanding). We will definitely return and will tell all our family and friends to consider OBS for another vacation destination. Thank you for an awesome vacation.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Awesome trip
First off I forgot my purse in the bus that brought us to hotel from the airport. It was delivered back at the hotel within an hour with everything intact. Just awesome :) Flight, hotel, excursions and staff was excellent. We upgraded to privilege and it was worth every penny. I would definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it. for people who want the beach experience I would not send them here. But everything else was awesome. I enjoyed the privilege location for dinners the[... read more] most. The only thing that needs to improve would be the showers as the water goes everywhere there is no way of it to stay in the shower area. I also enjoyed the Hamilton airport as a departure and will definitely try to avoid Pearson at all costs.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Not what we’ve expected.
Our goal was to have a pre-pandemic vacation experience. We haven’t had it for 2 years and decided to buy a privilege level of service.
Unfortunately, privilege level is this hotel doesn’t mean much.
Privilege pros:
- ability to book restaurants
- free room service
- separate beach with canopies (only in theory)
- beach towels by request without cards (only in theory)
- dinner from chef (again, only theoretical)
- maybe I forgot something else
In reality, they have a very tiny pie[... read more]ce of privilege beach with 8 canopies that are always busy as well as all sun beds. We tried to come at 9, 8, and then 7 am - everything is busy.
Beach towels - we have always been asked for cards, despite we haven’t been given any.
Dinner - just a regular dinner in Italian restaurant, nothing else.
Overall, I see that this is probably a result of pandemic layoffs. But stuff do es their job only if you give them money. Disappointed.
But there is a bright side. This hotel is a really a thing for people with Celiac. It has a good gluten free menu and stuff knows about cross contamination. Milk products are of a good quality, no wheat, and can be consumed with an issue.

Ocean Coral Spring: great resort for young families
The hotel is clean and the grounds are well kept. Our room was large, bright and cleaned daily.
We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant is loud so avoid if you don't appreciate the loud clank of metal spatulas used as drum sticks continuously at 3 or 4 different tables at the same time. The pool is large and clean and well serviced with several Bars in and around it. It is hard to get chairs poolside. People are keen to put towels on the chairs early in the morning a[... read more]nd in some cases even the night before. The beach is small and hard to navigate due to shallow coral in the swimming area as well as rocks in most areas. The privilege beach is nicer and has a larger sandy area.
Beach volleyball court is great. We did not use basketball court or tennis courts as they are far off at the front of the hotel. The privilege upgrade is great because it gets you access to a butler to book your restaurants which is super convenient. Most enjoyable for our family was the waterpark especially for kids under 10. They loved it and spent hours there every day. Of course the Jerk Chicken is hot and delicious!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing resort
I came with my family of 8 pepple of various ages. This resort was well designed when built. There is town square where restaurants, hotel lobby, bowling, coffee bar, ice cream bar, entertainment area was all located. There was 10 buildings, 5 on each side on the resort heading towards the beach. Two huge beautiful pools in the middle. All was easy access. There was carts to drive you in case . The food was amazing. Entertainment crew worked very very hard. The people working on this resort we[... read more]re exceptionally friendly. The beach was very nice, I saw they were trying very hard to restore it from the hurricanes. We enjoyed ourselves there also.
The only complaint I have is getting chairs at the pool. People would put towels on the chairs with umbrellas, to reserve the night before. Frustrating, when there are signs all over stating No Reserving.
I would go back to this resort and would recommend it highly.

Ocean Eden Bay: Poorly Managed, Not a 5 Star Resort
This could be a great resort if it were managed better. It took 2 1/2 hrs to check in because they didn’t give us the rooms that we requested months ago. The beach is the worst that I’ve ever been to. They are way too rocky. It took 3 days to find a way in to avoid rocks and not fall. One in, the water was great! They are short staffed and the service and food was horrible at a few of the restaurants. Other restaurants were amazing. All of the staff were amazing though. There are no[... read more] Covid protocols and both my husband and myself got Covid at the end of the vacation. They don’t provide Kleenex at this resort so I had to use toilet paper with my endlessly running nose. They had supply issues with the beer and was out of the Jamaican beer, Red Stripe for most of the week, but they had tiny cans of Dominican beer that everyone was hoarding. The wait times for dinner was ridiculous at most of the ala carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was absolutely the worst experience ever! The overhead fan was broken, and the grill in front of us had burnt food all over it that they should have had the common sense to clean before seating 20 people around the table. They had a crew of what appeared to be new hires trying to clean it with various things, and they were scrubbing it while all 20 of us sat around the table choking on the chemical smoke coming off the grill. This was from the green chemical cleaner they were using to clean it, mixed with the black soot from burnt food. They didn’t even rinse it off afterwards. One women near us ran to the ladies room to vomit! There also were several leftover half empty plates of sushi sitting out on the side of the grill from the previous customers. After they took our sushi order, they took these leftovers back to the kitchen. At that point I have no doubt that they just put it on new plates and handed out to us! Needless to say, we didn’t touch it. After they “attempted†to clean the grill, they dumped a huge pile of chicken on the grill and it smelled absolutely awful!! Soon after, they dumped a huge pile of beef on the same grill, and it was equally disgusting smelling!! There is no way that was fresh meat!! Then, they poured a huge pile of white rice on the grill right in front of us, and started flipping it around. All of the black burnt bits from the grill got mixed into it! It was so disgusting. That was the last straw. We walked out after sitting there for over an hour waiting to be served. Not even a drink was served! As soon as we got up, a chef came running over to us to get us to stay. That wasn’t going to happen!!
The buffets were smaller than what we are accustomed to, but they were surprisingly amazing for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The daily and nightly entertainment was ok. We did look forward to the white party, but that was a joke. Half the people wore normal coloured clothing and they were just playing ridiculous embarrassing games. They didn’t advertise about the beach party, the foam party or the steel drum music so we missed it all. I had to beg for a “do not disturb†sign for our door and it took 3 days to get it, only to be stolen a few days later. Had to beg for another one. The staff just walk right in after one knock. They came into our friend’s room one night and startled them. The lifeguards were few and far between at the beach. They were more busy wandering around having conversations with people on the beach instead of watching the people in the water. On a windy rough day, someone needed to be rescued in the ocean, but thankfully a person on the beach saw this and had to get the lifeguard to go help. It’s a blessing that this random person was paying attention. The lifeguard had to go find a lifesaver before going in the water to save the struggling person who was drowning.
That is completely unacceptable!
My favourite thing about this resort was the layout of the Marketplace. That has the best layout of any resort we’ve been to.
I could keep going on, but you get the idea. Definitely not a 5 star resort at all, but it could be with better management.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Beautiful place!
We stayed as a couple from Feb 23 to March 2 on the El Beso Side of the resort. This place is very very nice, this was our second time in Punta Cana and it did not disapoint. We stayed in building 17 swim up room and it was fabulous. Sunshine all day! Room are very nice, bed & pillows very comfortable. Our room was very clean. The food was also the best we have had so far in an all inclusive resort. The beach was nice but the water was rough most days but still nice. We mostly enjoyed our swim u[... read more]p pool room. I really dont have much negative to say except for maybe seeing people searching for pool chairs but this was not an issue for us with the swim up room. The online app to book a la carte was a little tricky but most nights you could walk up to the restaurants and they took us without reservation. Overall fabulous place and I would definitely return.

Ocean Coral Spring: Beautiful resort; halal food options available
This was a beautiful hotel; clean grounds and modern rooms. Everything was easily accessible. Room number 1426 is pool and Oceanview. Buffet food was OK but restaurant food (Thali, Sakura and the Italian restaurant) was absolutely delicious. If you have dietary restrictions i.e. can eat halal food only, please speak to their food and beverage manager. He will accommodate for all meals. We will never forget this experience and will definitely be back.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Will never return
The invitation to this resort was due to a wedding and 62 people flew from all over Canada to witness the celebration. My family was looking forward to a resort that would meet everyone's needs. We paid for a privilege package and this was a joke. We were told there would be carts to take you everywhere. There are carts but my husband who has mobility issues walked and walked with no carts in sight. There are carts but never when you want them or need them and forget about your upgrade tha[... read more]t provided you with no extra services. You would wait in line to get seated at the preferred restaurant for at least 30-40 minutes and then wait another 30 minutes to get your breakfast. We were told there would be lobster everywhere to eat and we never saw lobster at anytime during or stay. Our room was nice but we had no hot water for 4 days. You could never get a hold of your butler or get someone to answer the phone at the front desk. There was no ice machine close and we did not have face cloths 4 out of the 7 days. We did however have a dehumidifier which was a perk. This is not a place to go if you have mobility issues.
The pools were nice. My husband and I were unable to swim in the sea due to large rocks in the water at the beach. Food at the other restaurants were okay and the buffet was extremely busy. I did not go hungry. The drinks were awesome but you had to go to the swim up bars to get served. The wedding however was amazing and we had a wonderful time that evening and just being with family and friends.
Perhaps my expectations are too high as my husband and I have travelled to Mexico Mayan Rivera many times and we are use to a 4-5 star resort. This was a 3 star and we were very disappointed with the service and the lack of accessibility and still not sure what privilege services actually provided accept we had a room near the beach, we walked to everything and we met a butler 3 times. Once when we first arrived, second as he heard of a complaint regarding the service, and the third time was the day before we left where he asked for me to write a complaint and he picked it up and he was to have arranged for our luggage to be picked up and a cart to take us to the front lobby. Please note I wrote the complaint but we never received a cart for pick up for luggage or a cart and I had to wave down a cart to help us.
I had a break from work. I have a tan. I had a great time with friends and family but for the price it did not meet my expectations.

Ocean El Faro: Buyer beware
From the minter got there the service, people’s attitude were red flags to us. Be aware of the imitation cigars (not what they say they are) and jewelry that they claim is worth hundreds of US $$. Service to get our bags to the room over 1 hour. Restaurants hit and miss. Your food might be cooked?? Get up at 5 am to reserve your pool chairs and then again line up at 7 am to reserve the Sukura restaurant if you want to eat there before you leave.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Under staffed and long waits
Not great- but perhaps I’m a snob. Hard to get reservations in restaurants even being privilege. They refuse to accommodate larger parties than 8. Food is just ok and sparse. Often waiting for the buffet to be refilled. Only one bar tender at pool bars making getting a drink a 10 minute affair. Often hassled to become a member of their timeshares. Walls we moldy in rooms- I could go on and on.
We had an amazing time because we make the best

Ocean Eden Bay: Good but not great
The resort is beautiful, of course, its Jamaica after all! But we did come across a few things we didn't enjoy.
The housekeeping department was struggling and I get it, the whole world is understaffed but with a 5 star rating its time to figure that out. We were an hour late even getting a room and even then I think we only got it because we were getting upset (had been traveling since 2am, emotions were high) Room was nice, clean but had to continually ask for basic needs, hangers (only 2 in [... read more]the room) tissues (you know, Kleenex) which we never did get, a second face cloth and hand towel, there were two of us! And, we had to ask for these items several times before we actually got them and then it was only because my travel buddy made friends with the maintenance guy (who had to fix our in room safe). There were a few other small things we asked for and never did get but were minor. Like I said, housekeeping staff were struggling.
Another thing we didn't like was the temperature of the pool. It was cold!! We noticed on the first day that there wasn't many people in the pool and we quickly found out why! However, the ocean water was lovely and the pool at the attached resort was nice temperature wise as well.
The good stuff:
Beach was nice
Restaurants and buffets were good, especially the La Locanda, Italian restaurant at the attached resort (Ocean Coral Spring)
Spa was lovely though I didn't have any services I used the hydro therapy pools a few time. No charge to use which was nice.
We saw two shows while there and both were great as was the nightly live band. Service at the bars and tables was good and staff were generally friendly though don't expect a ton of booze in your mixed drinks! Some other staff here and there were downright unhelpful but never rude, just sort of unsure of their jobs maybe.
All in all, a pretty good all inclusive.

Ocean Eden Bay: Nice resort
The grounds were nice with a good beach. They have good entertainment and the restaurants are great except Route 66. The food there was awful!
The check in was challenging as the room was not ready with no apology for it. The cleaning staff frequently did not supply the room properly and items requested, ie facial tissue and a blanket were not supplied even after several requests.
Overall I would rate my experience a 7 out of 10.
