Great experience. The resort was very clean. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The staff were always available to assist. The resort offered everything one is looking for in a holiday. I would recommend to a family with children. The pools and splash pads entertained everyone.

Riu Flamingos: RIU Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta
RIU Jalisco is a nice resort. The decor is a bit dated for RIU standards. It will be undergoing a major 4 month renovation starting in August. We stayed for two weeks from Jan 3 - Jan 17. Check in was fast and easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful although not all speak English.
The rooms are a decent size with two twin beds. Each room has a safe, mini bar and a mini fridge. The maids leave a 2 liter bottle of water each day. The rooms are made every day and the maids do a nice job w[... read more]ith decorations. We had a balcony but the noise from a nearby air conditioning unit took away any enjoyment.
The food was very good with plenty of choices. The fried pork and beef could be a bit tough but there was plenty of fish choices. If you like steaks you may be disappointed. The main dining room was large and not busy if you go for the early sitting. There were three ala cart restaurants but we didn't bother with them. The beach restaurant is open so black birds fly in waiting to pounce on waste food. That was a bit annoying. There is a hamburger bar on the beach which was very popular. Apparently the hamburgers are fantastic. They serve about 300 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs daily. You can go for lunch at the nearby RIU Vallarta for a change of scenery.
The beach is large and safe for children. At low tide (afternoon) the water goes out almost 100 feet which makes it great for walking. There are many beach lounges but they get reserved fast. So get there before 8am. There are many coconut trees for shade.
There is a nice road in front of the resort with a pedestrian walkway in the middle. We saw many roller blading and cyclists using it. Very pleasant for walking after dinner. We walked into Bucerias (45-60 minutes each way) twice during our stay.
There is plenty of entertainment. It has a children's play pool and three other adult pools. The towel exchange is good with plenty of fresh towels.
The sports bar is open 24 hours and has plenty of TVs, a pool table and two PCs for guests to use. They serve sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs. I didn't try any. The cappuccino is good.
Overall, it is a nice resort, excellent food, nice staff, free site-wide WiFi. Not the most modern but well worth a visit. It may not be to everyone's taste, but for me, it was fine. I would return.

Riu Palace Antillas: 5 star amazing!
We decided to try the elite club and it was worth it in our opinion, even though it was quite a bit extra
We loved our room on the 16th floor. It had three sliding glass doors to a corner balcony. You could see from one end to the beach to the other. The sunsets were amazing. I think the best part of the elite was that you were able to make reservations at the specialty restaurants. We saw people lining up as early as 5 PM for the specialty restaurants that open at 6 PM. That’s not my kind of [... read more]vacation.
The specialty restaurants are definitely worth it. You can get lobster tail and fillet mignon or just a massive lobster tail among other wonderful dishes. The Arubian, steakhouse, and Krystal restaurants were fantastic. We didn’t try the Italian.
You definitely have to get up BEFORE 6 AM to get a shaded sun lounger closest to the water on the beach. If you’re not picky to be close to the water, you can get there around 7:30 no later.
The pool loungers also are taken very early
The food at the buffet is fantastic breakfast lunch, and dinner
At lunch, there’s usually three different types of fish. They also have hamburgers and hotdogs.
The staff are so friendly and attentive special shout out to our elite bartender at the pool ( yismel) and Davidson at the elite lounge
The staff are constantly cleaning everything!

Riu Playa Blanca: Beautiful Resort
This resort is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained. Staff are constantly cutting grass and trimming trees and bushes. The dining room is beautiful. It’s very clean and staff are constantly setting up for new diners. The staff are very helpful and very friendly. Food is very good too with lots of selection.
Great pools and sports bar.

Riu Dunamar: Pretty nice! Great pool, good food, not great beds.
It was pretty good! The food was pretty good and the pools and beach were great. One of the servers at the buffet, Maria, was AMAZING! She was so happy and kind the whole time. The beds were very small and very uncomfortable though. The bathroom also had an annoying window where everyone could see you shower and the light would shine so bright in the night through it that we couldn't turn it on because it would wake everyone else in the room. They also didn't have blackout curtains so it was pre[... read more]tty bright in the morning (which was ok for us since we rise early but wasn't ok for some of our other family members). The entertainment was also great - I couldn't believe how hard the entertainment crew worked day and night. It was pretty wild to see. I hope they get paid very well.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great time at Riu Playa Blanca
This was our 3rd time at Riu Playa Blanca in Rio Hato
The room was lovely with a king size bed and large bathroom with shower
The entertainment was the same for the last 3 years, except they now added a lip sync and dancing show including Bruno Mars, Marc Anthony, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, as well as an Abba show. Both of these were a welcome addition and very well received.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great value for Money
I'm not sure of the full facilities of this hotel, but notwithstanding the hotel rates five star.
I do have one complaint and I'll get to that, but first let me tell you why I think this is a five star hotel.
The hotel management is first class and this shows everywhere. The hotel is super clean. Public spaces, gardens and beach are immaculate. Everything works. We did have a problem with our room safe but maintenance was in the room and the problem fixed within minutes of the issue b[... read more]eing reported to the hotel switchboard.
Without exception staff were well turned out, polite, friendly and helpful.
Our room was large, bright and airy, with no sign of mildew, so common in the tropics. The air-conditioning worked well and was quiet, as was the ceiling fan.
The hotel is located only about 7 minutes from the airport, and travel between the airport and hotel was well organized, as was our reception at the hotel. There is no portering service but this isn't an issue as there are four small elevators in the main building and room signage and directions are good. During our visit the elevators were in service all the time, to the best of my knowledge.
We did not use any of the pools, so I'm not going to comment on them. We swam in the blue sea which was very warm and completely safe, but not really suitable for snorkeling as the ocean is murky. The hotel is located on a beach about 4 kms long. The beach is deep and shallow, and while we were at the hotel there was no surf and only wavelet. The sand is very hard below high water and great for walking, but grey in colour and not particularly attractive.
We had all but three meals in the main dining area. This large space is divided into a core air-conditioned area, where the food is self service, and an outer area which is covered but open to the gardens. We preferred to eat in this latter area, but there a couple of cats around, and various mynah birds, intent on stealing food, particularly fruit and packets of sugar. The quality and variety of the food was excellent at all times, and there were several different items each day. My only regret was that it wasn't mango season, but the pineapple was the best I have ever had. Salads, mains, veggies were all great. Desserts were sometimes quite gaudy [some had gold leaf] but all were very tasty. The four house wines were all very pleasant.
Bar drinks were very nice, and the staff were very smart in keeping the amount of alcohol in the drinks low, unless you wished for more, in which case it was freely given.
My only complaint relates to the three specialty restaurants, my partner didn’t really have any issues with her food but I did. At the Italian Restaurant the minestrone soup was so salty it was inedible. There was a major problem with noise on the evening we attended the Italian Restaurant, two large groups of a certain ethnicity were shouting and screaming at one another across the room – we got up and left it was so bad. At the Asian Restaurant the soggy heavy “tempura” bore no resemblance to light super crispy tempura batter. At the steak house, the Caesar salad was very poor and so were the pork ribs, which was surprising as the pork was excellent in the main dining room. I suggest that Hotel management take a close look at these restaurants as, in my opinion, the food is not up to the standards of the main dining room, and the staff in the Italian restaurant made no attempt to control the rowdy diners .
We traveled on a Sunwing holiday, and the local staff were very friendly and helpful. We only had one 5 hour excursion to the local town of Penonome, which at USD $ 20 per person was great value for money and led by a very informative helpful guide.
This was an excellent vacation, good flights, transportation and a five star hotel, what more could you ask for.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Huge resort. Well done.
The Riu Palace is the flagship of the three Riu resorts in Cabo. We stayed there Jan 9-16. The resort is well staffed and kept very clean. No problem finding a chaise at any time of day. We ate at the main buffet most days. wide selection of foods and well stocked. We tried the Gourmet and Steak a la cartes and were pleased with the quality of food and service. The a la cartes opened earlier than the buffet restaurant and were on a first come basis. The poolside grill was great for day sna[... read more]cks. staff always available around the pool to bring drinks to your spot. The resort held activities poolside and music. We enjoyed the solo musicians in the main bar area. All in all, very nice resort.

Riu Santa Fe: Riu never disappoints me !!
Riu is always a 5 star experience. I have been going on vacation for 45 years and have never been disappointed with the riu team. The resorts are very clean and updated. I have always enjoyed the food choices and the quality of food. I have not been to many other resorts but the riu. I went to the riu mazatlan last year for 2 weeks that place needs a upgrade. But I still enjoyed it.

Riu Palace Kukulkan: Beautiful hotel
The Riu was well-appointed, easy to get around. The staff were exceptional from the reception to housekeeping. They knew their job and did it well.
Our room was kept clean and neat. I did find that the buffet was really lacking in variety. I like when there is a carving station or someone making fresh pasta. There were too many creamy sauces.
The acoustic in the main lobby bar was so loud!
Our room was beautiful accept that we heard the traffic on the main road. ( we were facing the beach). [... read more]At night it was loud.

Beautiful hotel, service was great. Food was delicious. But unless you wanna be around 1 million children, this is not your place. The the people that vacation there are absolutely terrible! Very rude! not friendly at all. Was very disappointed. not to mention that I picked up a parasite there as well so I was sick the whole time. Maybe I'm not the right person to be leaving this review lol

Riu Cancun: Great time at Riu Cancun!
We stayed at Riu Cancun in January and had a lovely time! This hotel is 25 minutes drive from the airport. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a drink and the front desk staff were lovely.
All food and drinks were very good. Buffet had lots of options. We never had to wait for a table and there was 6 in our group. We never felt un safe in this resort. Front desk staff let us know if we need anything that they will get it for us.
"Riu Parties" were off our resort at the Riu Caribe down [... read more]the street. There were free shuttles running every 10 minutes. Riu parties were very fun with good music and drinks included.
This hotel is walking distance to local shops and bars/restaurants. We walked into town many times for food, drinks and shopping.
The hotel room was very clean upon arrival. We were put on the top level, floor 15 and never had a issue with elevators. They would come within 30 seconds every time. Maid services came daily and did a great job re stocking the fridges and cleaning.
The beach was slightly rocky and wavy the whole time. You are still able to swim in the ocean but waves were high.
I would return to this hotel again! Great trip with friends who are looking to have fun.

Riu Montego Bay: Fun Resort
Despite being a very large resort, never a shortage of lounge chairs or dining spots. Great bar service and variety of beverages.
Rooms are spacious.
5 pools so have choice of quiet or active.
Downside, beach is very seaweedy & mushy bottom.
Good entertainment, Riu Party is so much fun!
