Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A great resort for the price

Just got back from this resort it was great for the price paid although for the first two days we did not have a toilet seat, and no, I'm not joking. The beaches were great sand was really soft and lots of swimming and snorkeling to do

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Windy Beach and Sand Fleas

Located end of Varadero and extremely large property.Buffet restaurant and bars too small for 900+ guests. No toilet seat in Handicapped bathroom and often public bathrooms dirty & no toilet paper.Coffee at buffet self-serve, only available at breakfast. Food decent, insufficient serving utensils.Little interaction with staff other than Nancy at Customer Service who was excellent.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Good resort

Rooms was OK but walls were not quite clean, bathtub was dirty. I asked room attendant to clean it and gave her a tip. She took a tip but didn't do anything. It was very windy all 7 days - sand penetrated everywhere

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Good resort for Cuba

We stayed at the Blau marina varadero march 6-13/2015. I had read a lot of negative reviews prior to going which made me very nervous. For the most part I would say most of it was not true. The resort is very large so depending on your wants there are a lot of options... The main pool with water slide is where the action is:) so if that's what your into I would recommend staying in blocks 10-14 ( 11 and 12) are best) if you prefer a quiet vacation you can enjoy one of the other 2 pools. Cons-washrooms (could be cleaner and better maintained) , rooms are just ok , no place to swim... All pools are waist deep ( good for little ones), the beach and pool bars are good for beer and basic drinks but if you want something different you need to go to the lobby bar, towels not always available. yes, I would return to this resort:)

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Good for the money

Wonderful, friendly staff. Nice layout. Enjoyed beach, freshwater and saltwater pools. Breakfast always good. Room clean. Shower had hot water except for one day. Good entertainment especially the Michael Jackson show. Buffet lineups too long to get in and once inside, long waits to sometimes find a table and long lineups to get food. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: It was ok for the money

The grounds were good - it was a decent resort. The rooms were clean, the public bathrooms were pretty clean compared to some I've been to, but missing toilet seats and door locks. The resort itself was nice. The food was pretty good for Cuba, however, the one complaint I have is with respect to customer service. I don't think this resort is very well managed and they appear to be understaffed. Two bus loads arrived when we arrived, and there was one person at the front desk. It took a very long [... read more] time to get checked in; eventually another person came to assist. Dining and restaurant staff, the majority of them, looked miserable and were not overly friendly. There were the odd few who were, but generally, not many appeared too eager or willing to serve or help. We often had to get up and get our own drinks in the dining hall. It looked as though there was not enough wait staff, the majority of the time. For the money we paid, we still had a great week, but the customer service experience, should still be part of the experience.

not enough washrooms situated through out the property,and some that are there did not have toilet seats.great location on the peninsula,nice constant warm breeze.very clean resort,hard working people.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Not 5*

Definitely not worth a five star rating. We complained about our room and were upgraded but even then there were problems. The management tried to sort out various problems but were overwhelmed. Everyone we talked to had a litany of unresolved complaints. No towels, no maid service, no power, plugged showers, illness and this all occurred in the "privilege " section. Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great Time

Just got back from the Hotel Colonial Cayo Coco on Feb 28th. It was our 3rd time there. Had a great time !! The food was great, the staff very friendly, and the resort was very clean. Going back next year.

Grounds...very nice. Excellent actually..Check out how the gardener can make a hot from a Coconut leaf..amazing..One thing that bothered me was a boardwalk where a few of the slats were broken, worn out..very dangerous... Pools excellent. main pool very noisy, young party crowd..Thats ok, just went to another pool..they were all excellent except pool #2 ..too far to get beer/drinks. Breakfasts were good, orange juice bitter until I mixed it mango juice. I stayed away from the rubbery french toast and pancakes..The syrup was not very good too. Lack of fresh salads at buffet..Had to go to a salad making guy...didnt make sense. Went to Spanish restaurant...terrible Went to Italian....quite good. Spaghetti had a chili con carne taste..I liked it. Lasagna...quite good. Service was terrible in all ala carte restaurants except for the BBQ. Went to seafood...terrible...Lobster was like rubber. once again, fish overcooked. Went to BBQ restaurant..Fantastic..wish I would have eaten there every night.I strongly suggest you book the BBQ at least 3 nights and forget the seafood and the spanish... Pizza was ok.. Rooms were good, maid service hot and cold. We were travelling with another couple and had 3 rooms...2 rooms were in Block 23 and the other in Block 11. I am not kidding, 1/2 km apart. had to use shuttle cart to visit them. I asked that they get us closer together and they did after 2 nights. Washrooms away from the room, like in lobby, and beside towel dispensory etc..terrible...no maintenance, no toilet seats, no paper...they were disgusting. and I am a guy who usually doesn't care about stuff like that. We never go back to the same resort, no matter how good or bad..But if you go here, and follow my suggestions, you will have a good vacation. Wish I could have read this type of thing going in...too bad you learn when its too late to enjoy everything. Now saying all the..I would suggest this resort to friends, again, as long as they listen to my suggestions, they will have a pleasant stay.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great value for money

Pools are very nice. Hotel room was good. The beach was awesome. Great for kids. The service was good but you have to get used to everyone's hand being out for a tip, but that is Cuba in General. Would go again.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful but crowded resort

Beautiful resort. But new section needs to have their own buffet n lobby. Not enough seating to relax in the lobby with over 700 rooms. And the wait time for buffet is alittle long. Beach is perfect for snorkling. Staff is very friendly n curtious. Not enough seating for shows but shows were awesome. More lounges needed for pool area aswell. All in all had a great relaxing much needed vacation.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Huge Hotel

The Hotel needs a lot more people to take care of the property , it could use more care on the gardens , my room was very clean. The food was good. and the service was excellent. The Shows and the activities are superb.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Exceeded expectations

Three large pools, one for entertaining younger families and the other two were more quiet and layed back. Two swim up bars. The restaurants were fantastic, and my favorite was the buffet at lunch having my ceasar salad made especially for me. The nightly entertainment was amazing. Easy access to cabs going to town or bus. No hassle. People were accomodating and very friendly

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: It was Okay

The resort was Okay. I wouldn't go back or recommend it to friends or family. The food was okay we could usually find something to eat. The rooms were very dated and air conditioner emitted a foul moldy smell the whole time. I believe this is why we ended up being sick. The amenities in the room were awful. Bring your own blow dryer and hydro converter. (Don't expect a coffee maker in your room) The staff overall where very good and made the stay a little more bearable. The pool was okay tiles m [... read more]issing and I got a cut on my foot from them. Nothing that a band-aid couldn't fix. Beach was nice but the sand fleas were unbelievable as where the mosquitoes at times. One of our travel mates had to have a shot of Benedryl and Cortisone because of the mosquito bites.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Wouldn't return!

I can't really think of anything good to say, the beach was beautiful but small and the pool was very nice, was hot and sunny the whole 7 days so I'm not complaining, coming from temperatures in Ontario. The was was less than desirable, the Italian restaurant was the only good food I ate in 7 days and I giant rat ran across the top of the roof beams while we were having dinner! Some of the public washrooms around the resort had no toilet seats??? Often no toilet paper and u could wash ur hands but there were no hand dryers or paper towels to dry them! They were often out of stuff such as diet cola, stuff to make piña coladas, Cuban cash at the front desk! C'mon the bank runs out of cash to exchange ur money?? Seriously? The service in resort was slow and they were not friendly, working in the service industry in r&b service specifically, I understand the importants of tips and am a very generous tipper but it quickly became apparent the service was no better even if u tipped, in particular the lobby and out door bartenders were particularly unfriendly! We were a group of 9 so we made the best of the trip, and did have lot of fun, but I would never return to this resort!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Ordinary

The layout was nice and so were the people especially the ones at the buffets. Need some maintance done, could have fallen to the ground if I leaned against our railing too hard. Ran out of water 3 different times which makes you wonder how they washed the dishes. Food was not as good as previous year. Never really hot unless you had it done right in front of you. Running out of water is a major health issue when they keep saying the tanks are empty so where are they filling them from.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Resort was ok but not amazing

The resort itself was good and the entertainment as well, but the rooms were just "rooms"'nothing special but it's to your discression on what you like in a room! I'm not a picky eater but I have to say the food was terrible at this resort, not much selection , lots of line ups and just not good! I have been to Cuba twice before and been to varedero which I would go back there but I wouid say I wouodnr go back to this resort in holguin!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: could have been an amazing resort

The Colonial Resort is incredibly beautiful. Our room had a magnificent ocean view. We thought it was perfect except for one MAJOR flaw. We couldn't get hot water for showers and in two(!!) instances there was no running water at all! It was disgusting and unsanitary since people had to use the facilities while they were out of order. We are aware of the problems of Cuba and its infrastructure but this is UNACCEPTABLE! No other resorts in Cayo Coco had this issue. Trip Central should not include the Colonial Resort in their packages until they resolve this problem.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing

Everybody is very friendly and helpful. There's a lot of food choices, thumbs up for that.....good view, good place to relax and a perfect place for couples like us...about the rooms, its all fine and clean, the mini bar are always full and refilled everyday. Overall-EXCELENT*)
