Great resort!

This hotel was very clean. Buffet had a great assortment and all very good food. The 4 other restaurants had delicious food but book early for the whole week as many were disappointed. Also men had to wear long pants or could not go in. The grounds were well kept. Staff all friendly and helpful. Pools were great. Tons of activities

First class resort ever.......

this is the cleanest resort I have been to. Service is first class.Staff always had a smile for you. The food is excellent,. always hot, and a great variety, Carved turkey and ham at serving stations on Wednesday night. All a la cartes also perfect, They had perfect salmon. chicken and lasagne. The beach is lovely, lots of chairs and pillapas. also you can walk for miles.

March break 2016 at the Gran Ventana

We enjoyed the week at the Gran Ventana. It's close to the airport (15 min.), offers nice rooms, good food and a nice section of beach. The resort was full but did not seem crowded. There are sufficient activities to keep you interested. The staff was excellent. Many excursions to choose from and most of them are reasonably close to the hotel. The Ventana is not a 5 star resort (and doesn't claim to be) but offers extremely good value for the price.

Gran ventana

Where to start. We were looking to party if that's what your looking for don't go to Puerto Plata. The staff REALLY needs to learn the English language I struggled a lot. The food was so so .. as good as it can get for the Dominican I guess was anxious to get home to home cooked meals I was sick on day 6. Pretty good for the price.

The general manager does an amazing job of creating a soothing atmosphere amidst all the chaos that made my vacation peaceful. The servers, cleaners and entertainment love their jobs and made it very obvious that they wouldn't want to be any where else. So clean, comfortable and accommodating. It was Independence Day while I was there and the parades and entertainment were superior for the area. The head chef is talented and obviously caters to everyone's needs. So many choices and wonderful fla [... read more]vours. The pool bar and pool entertainment kept me from being bored, but it wasn't over the top so you could relax and not feel interrupted. The a la carte restaurants were all well managed and the choices offered were well executed. I stayed there once before and wasn't sure I wanted to come back, but now I am sure I will go back. The new Managment has done an incredible job at turning this comfortablely spaced out resort into a gem. my overall rating of this resort is a 5, very pleased and satisfied for the money spent. Great Resort

I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to go to the Dominican. The food was really good and testy the grounds and accommodations were also really well kept. The beach was stunning and clean. Friendly staff.

Wonderful Resort

This resort had everything I look for in a resort! It was very clean, the food was terrific, and the staff was amazing. Front desk was a breeze. Had a issue with the toilet flushing slowly, they had someone there in 20 minutes and front desk called the room that evening to make sure we were happy with the fix! The beach was clean and plenty of chairs. If you want a hut you will have to get up early and save but I haven't been to a resort yet you don't have to. The food was varied and delish. Excellent resort

large enough to have all the facilities, small enough to get around easily, nice layout, large pool and bars, excellent food, good service, lots of beach towels, very nice beach with a few rocky areas, but lots of places to play and swim.

One of the best all inclusives I have stayed at

My 9th all inclusive,rates among the best. Staff are wonderful,food was great. Make sure your resort is seaweed free as it can get ugly, there was none here. Beach is clean. Will return. Recommended .

Terrific Resort

Just returned from DR. Had a fantastic holiday. Great Resort. Staff is always cleaning. Our maid Isabella was superb. Kudos to Johnny "GO JOHNNY GO" love your full of life spirit as well as Caesar (Markiel) who would actually approach us and ask us if we would like a cocktail. Probably the only thing I would love to see improvement on is the White Wine to a better drinking quality wine. The nightly entertainment certainly could be improved as well and the beds and pillows. Great Holiday

EXCELLENT FABULOUS AMAZING

This resort is the kind of resort that makes you know you will never look elsewhere for a place. Between the excellent food, the kindness of the staff. This place is so clean. Never ever saw any garbage or spills. They're extremely welcoming as well. The beach is glorious. Even with the beach vendors, who we've become good friends with and amazing deals. The rooms are clean, comfortable and attractive. We are already planning our 3rd trip. No need to look elsewhere

Great resort

Very good resort, very clean, staff were friendly. drinks were ok, not a lot of selection. If you wanted mamosas or baileys you need to be a vip. Food in a la carte restaurants was good but hard to get in because not a lot of seating. Buffet had a large variety of foods. Always something different to eat. 1 of our 3 rooms had shower issues and a new room was offered. Over all great place to vacation.

Nice resort

The hotel itself was very nice. The rooms were cleaned and also fumigated while we were there. But that only brought the bugs out of their hiding spots. I found the service poor, there is no waiters if you wanted a drink you needed to go get it yourself. Also their choice of alcohol left a lot to be desired. Their wine was was watered down. The pool was not very cleaned, so we spent 98% of our time at the beach. The beach was well kept. All weeds picked up every day. Great relaxation vacation!!

The room was fair (beds were comfy, no coffeemaker (but large urns down by the pool), no mirror (except for the bathroom), chairs on balcony uncomfortable (plastic stacking chairs)), pool was laid out great (not heated), beach was very clean, food was very good. Everyone was very friendly, and excellent service. For the money, this resort was a great deal. Just expect that it is a reasonable trip and not a high end resort.

Small and personal

The VH Gran is a small resort, the smallest I have stayed on but it was nice and convenient with not far to walk to get to anything. We had a renovated room but it faced the stage area and the noise from the nightly entertainment was very loud and amplified. The staff were amazing and tended to our every need with a smile. We had the Royal package and it was well worth the extra money. The Vintage club was a great getaway to cool off and relax woith a nice drink. Good Times

Gran Ventana was a solid 4 star hotel, clean rooms, grounds, good food and good service. The staff are very hard working and always happy. A big shout out to Joan the bartender and Carlos part of the entertainment staff, they are wonderful and make leaving a hard thing to do. There's a reef about 150 metres from the beach so bring your snorkel and enjoy! Will definitely go back:)

Amazing, Clean Resort

The resort is gorgeous and clean. The food was by far the best resort food I've ever had. The beach was beautiful. The staff were nice. It's a family oriented resort with absolutely no opportunity to party.

You won't be disappointed

Our stay at the VH Grand Ventana was wonderful, the staff always had smiles and wanted to help you at any given time, the rooms we always clean, ground were always being maintained, entertainment staff unbelievable and the new buffet was outstanding

Fantastic Resort with the BEST staff & service

We went to the VHG on a recommendation from a friend and weren't disappointed. The resort is very well laid out and a perfect size. The beach was beautiful - clean (no sea weed) and not overly crowded. We had no problem getting a spot on the beach that met all our needs - sunshine and shade. Yes, there are vendors who are selling on the beach but if you say no thanks, they carry on and weren't aggressive or a problem in any way. VHG staff really take pride in their resort and providing the best customer experience. I wrote to the resort in advance of our vacation with a couple of requests and received a replay back immediately indicating they would do their best to accommodate all of our needs/request and they certainly did. The staff here work very hard to keep their resort immaculate with housekeeping staff cleaning all day and well into the night. I can't honestly say that I found a single member of their staff team lacking in any way - they were all very friendly and whenever you asked how they were, the response was always the same 'Excellente" followed by a huge smile. We have been to many resorts and VHG staff would be rated among the BEST. We would definitely recommend this resort

Expected More.

Beautiful grounds and beach. The rooms were very small for a family of 4 and had very little storage for our things. Beds were hard and pillows were terrible. Loved the duvets tho :) we went without water 2 nights during our stay.. I got terribly sick one night.. But sure if it was good or water but it passed thank goodness and I made careful choices with food the rest of the trip. The food was decent.. Drinks were typical. It was also under renovations and the jack hammering by the pool 10 hours a day was a bit much.The people at the resort were amazing and the only thing that made this vacation really great. Always smiling and great service all around.
