JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Thumbs up for Iberostar Grand Paraiso

This was our second time at this resort; much has changed since 2017, re covid, climate change, and environmental concerns. We returned to Iberostar as we had a positive experience our first time. Second time did not disappoint! While the resort was only about 40% full, there was no shortage of staff, food, activities, or entertainment (the latter all had to be done in open air or open space). We certainly missed him when there had their monthly staff change over. Our new butler was nice also Daytime entertainment staff was quite energetic trying to get people to participate after walking around and telling of upcoming activities even though everything was posted online. Evening entertainment was fine as well. We very much enjoyed their “white night” evening. Restaurant and bar staff were there to attend to any request a guest may or even not have. We preferred to have dinner at the individual restaurants as opposed to the buffet (though we did go once to dinner at buffet) where we had breakfasts and lunches—lots and lots of choices While every specialty restaurant was superb the French one really stood out for us, especially our waiter Chan. Again, went out of his way to prepare us a specialty dish not on the menu But my most impressive thing about this year was how very environmentally responsible this resort has become. Nothing or very little one-time-use or disposable items were used; everything was reusable from water bottles to cutlery to napkins to placemats….cleanliness and sterilizing everything was very much de rigueur! Many staff were busy with spray bottles cleaning surfaces And every staff member wore a mask. The only place where guests had to wear a mask was at the buffet area. I would definitely return to this resort in the future Our only disappointment was the beach. Full of seaweeds which staff kept cleaning up and removing but all in vain; seaweeds just kept on coming. May be time of year we were there?

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful and clean .

We totally enjoyed our stay . Will come back for sure . Cleanliness was amazing . Grounds kept very well .Restaurants were excellent . Food excellent . Buffet excellent . Pool bars were very good , Pools were very clean. Bravo Barcello. We totally enjoyed our stay . Special thanks to our Trip Central agent Karol who recommended we return to Barcello Maya after 8 yrs. of going else where . We loved it !

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Bahia Principe Coba

My husband and I have returned from vacationing at the Coba .We have probably just had one of the best vacations ever .This Resort is absolutely beautiful , great food ,great staff .We have nothing negative to say.Covid procedures are in place and we felt quite safe while there. Only complaint would be that the trip wasn’t long enough and bring your water shoes for the beach .There is a lot of coral. Samba Vallarta: Not bad

Amenities were pretty basic and the food wasn't great. Beach was excellent. Staff was very friendly. There weren't that many guests, so few line-ups. Check in was very fast. Lunch: there is only one restaurant open and it is not self serve. There was only one server so the line up was very long. Poor resource management. Our elderly parents with mobility problems requested a ground floor room and they would not accommodate that. Instead they were on a third floor room and had to negotiate sta [... read more]irs. We also asked for adjoining rooms with them because we had a toddler and they were helping us out. They did not accommodate that request either. Our room was on the north side of the hotel and every night we could hear the extremely loud disco from the Riu resort next door. This made it difficult to sleep.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great resort

Rooms are quite spacious and very clean. All of the restaurants had great food and there were no line-ups at any including the main buffet. The beach was not very good but there was access to the beach at the Sunset resort next door and it is a short walk. All in all, this resort is very nice.

Secrets Huatulco: Good, with room for improvements

We just returned from a week at Secrets. Had visited 9 years ago. Seems like they haven’t put any money into upkeep. Furniture cushions in common areas need a refresh; room deck furniture was worn; window treatments in room were ripped and mended instead of replacing; pool tiles missing. Otherwise, the room/restaurants/common areas were clean. Staff was always very friendly and attentive. All staff adhered to mask protocols but not all guests did. Overall the food was great with the e [... read more]xception of our steak meals at Castaway restaurant which we found to be inedible. We were again very disappointed that we had to reserve our lounge chairs and sun protection early every morning. If you weren’t out before 6 a.m. you had limited options to choose from. This puts unnecessary stress on you when you’re there to relax, worry free. This isn’t the resorts fault, but if you’re looking for a nice sandy beach, you won’t find it here. The water was always too rough to swim comfortably. I would recommend this hotel to a friend, with consideration to comments above.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Huge resort

I'm not really a fan of giant resorts. Lots of walking...But other than that, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was great. The place was very clean. Rooms and resort were well kept. Not the best beach but still good.

Occidental Cozumel: Wonderful Resort

This was our second time and never disappoints. Beautiful beach, very clean, super friendly, lots of food options. Our westjet rep was great and helped us with a tour to the Tequila Factory. Upon arrival our room was ready.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Ok resort

The hotel was ok. They weren't very strict on covid 19 precautions when it came to wearing masks. You could enter restaurants without a mask with the exception of the buffet. We were surprised by this. The buffet bathroom was not very clean, one toilet not flushing, water spout in the sink was literally dripping water so pretty hard to rinse your hands. The paper towel dispenser did not work and had to use toilet paper. I went to the buffet washroom twice during the week and it was exactly [... read more] the same. No repairs were done and it was still very dirty. Ordered room service for our last breakfast before returning home. They came 1/2 hour earlier than they were supposed to and had both our orders wrong. I mean completely wrong. Not what we had ordered at all. Our bathroom door did not close so we had to put a garbage can in the door to keep it closed. The wooden divider on the balcony was detached at one end and caused very loud noises and made it very hard to sleep especially during our week as it was very windy. The food was mediocre at best with the exception of the Italian restaurant. The wine was always warm and the food was always cold at the other restaurants. Thankfully, the staff was very accommodating and the entertainment staff were very good. It was still very nice week but it isn't a resort that I would go back to or recommend.

Secrets Huatulco: Beautiful private resort.

We definitely enjoyed our trip to Secrets. Beautiful locations. Great service and activities. Booked a half day on the ocean with Captain Valentino. Discovering the multiple bays, whales, sailfish and sea turtles. We definitely would go back.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Good Hotel for Families

There are some things that didn't suit us at this resort perhaps largely due to the huge surge in occupancy. It is on a windy stretch and the ocean water is very turbulent most of the time. And contrary to what most people have reported ...there is sargassum in the water and on shore.Not as bad as further down the coast but there none the less. No peace and quiet at all. The boom boom music from the pool bars is non stop accompanied by lots of screaming partiers. There was no quiet area that we could find. The resort is a beautiful property and extremely well maintained. All areas were clean. The staff is amazing and service was great in all venues. That's quite an achievement given the place was at max capacity. Top shelf booze is available and drinks are good. Maid service is spot on and the mini bar was always replenished. The coffee bar was a favourite in the morning and mid afternoon. The piano bar's acoustics are terrible. So when occupied in the evening it's impossible to converse and is like being in an echo chamber. The same applies to the halls at night ... sound bounces and gets amplified. You will hear the theatre show in your room until it ends. The food was good. Lots of choice. A lot of people appear to never have seen food before LOL. Can't say it was exceptional but it was all fresh and plentiful. Good for an AI. If you enjoy fish and seafood you will find it quite satisfying. They have Indio beer and it was a treat with meals. Overall we think your experience will improve when capacity isn't at peak anymore. BTW the airport experience is actually worse than it's ever been , especially on return to Canada.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Acceptable resort.

Good location, close to the airport. Compact compound layout, easy to go from one place to another. Poor service at arrival. Tired staff, did not provide basic info about resort amenities. Butler service which was part of the package was not mentioned and not offered. Rooms were excellent, however location next to the kitchen and hvac cooling unit spoiled it. No information in the room regarding the resort, not even a map which is customary on other similar resorts. Food was excellent at the buf [... read more]fet, however pretty poor at the a la carte restaurants, with limited choice. All in all a mixture of excellent and poor experiences, which in turn makes it an overall fair experience. Resort has all ingredients to make it an excellent experience however, should the service be improved.

Secrets Huatulco: Great resort

The resort, rooms and dining were all very clean. The beach was nice although a bit rough. Scenery was lovely and the food was very good. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Loved how our rooms were cleaned and decorated with flowers most days.

Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Not what expected

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. My husband and I travel 12 weeks every year so we aren’t knew to all inclusive resorts. This was by far the worst we have stayed at. The room itself was nice but everything else I can’t even explain! It would take to long, do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.

Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Good value for Money

The resort itself was quite good. Pleaseing aesthestics and the Food was almost always good. Pools were clean and very well maintained. Our room was nice, although the water was not warm enough for showers. Ancilliary services, however were lacking. There was little availability of staff to figure out how things worked- everything from which restaurant required reservation; guidance on Covid tesing on site. And we had to line up for everything. The staff that were present were great- but m [... read more]ore staff is needed. Perhaps this issue is related to the pandemic- but I was not thinking we would have to spend so much time in lines. The largest issue we had was the very late playing of dance music ( 3 am) for participants of a conference that was occurring. We heard a number of crying babies/ toddlers and for a family based resort I am not sure the allowance of loud music so late at night was a wise choice. Otherwise, there were not many activities in the evening and I suppose this could be expected for this kind of resort.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Amazing resort.

Most amazing resort I’ve visited to date. The rooms were amazing, the food was even better and the staff was so great and friendly. Had a sister resort next door we could use, and they couldn’t use ours which was also nice to have other options for pools and food. Overall best bang for my buck to date. Nothing negative to say what so ever.

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: Vacation at Dreams

Firstly; we weren’t to pleased to be harassed as soon as we arrived for a sales pitch to buy vacation plans. We go away to get away from all that. When we arrive, we just want to go to our rooms and change for the beach. The rooms were fine but showing signs of age. The hotel almost completely shut down the pool areas for a dinner later that day. Insane! Again, we want to relax by pool. There was nowhere to go. Location is good (within walking distance of downtown).

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Paradise!

This is one of the most beautiful resorts that I have ever been too. The staff was so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel property is lush with vegetation. We got to see monkeys, iguanas, and other cute animals on the property. This property is located right next to the Xcaret Eco park and we did the add on and so glad we did. So worth it!!

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Disappointed

We’ve been going to this resort for years. Staff are incredible!! Food has gone downhill. We never had a hot meal. Food was lukewarm to cold except at the buffet if you were lucky. The Italian restaurant pasta used to be amazing but now it is inedible. No flavour. The beach is the best! Pool was very crowded with local visitors with a lot of children. Beds are comfortable but pillows need upgrading. We’ve always loved this resort but now considering going elsewhere. We can’t say enough g [... read more]ood about the staff throughout the resort! Las Brisas Ixtapa: General review

We went for a week and found the hotel comfortable and amenities were good. Lovely private beach and the pool had a beautiful view and was clean and nice. Lots of walking between the two to consider when booking. Plus lots of steps to get up and down to the pool from the beach. Food was ok. Buffet was good. More inclusive resteraunt choices would have been great. Staff were friendly and helpful.
