Ocean Riviera Paradise: Very good resort

We spend many many days at the resort, it had various pools for families, kids and adults only too. The dinning was very accessible, lots of nice Canadians also stayed there. The rooms are very clean and the service is regular. Lots of activities to keep busy and themed evening entertainment was good too. The resort is ideally located near lots of activities in and around the Riviera Maya. The beach had rock along the coastline and the “updates” are a bit much. Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Fantastic resort for adults or families!

I've had the opportunity to experience a number of different all inclusive brands in different locations and nothing really comes close to Paradisus La Esmeralda. Everything from the rooms to the service to the food and entertainment were all first class and unique to anything I had previously seen at an all inclusive resort. Bana and Mole were certainly our favourites but there was something for everyone and the decor and service were second to none. Beach The beach certainly isn't what you come to this resort for - there are definitely issues with seaweed and the accompanying smell. However, the service on the beach was fantastic. Our chairs were always set up to our liking and food and drink delivered directly to our seats. Pools Pretty standard fare. We spent most of our time at the La Perla adults only pool but the pool bar was adequate for our needs, there were always plenty of seats and the food from the pool grill was surprisingly good Rooms The rooms at this resort could be compared against any major chain or even boutique hotel in a major city. The amenities were fantastic and the room service was out of this world Entertainment Rather than the standard bandshell entertainment, there were a lot of live bands and other events taking place that felt unique to the resort. Live band karaoke, the Frankie Valli cover band, and casino nights were definitely highlights YHI Spa The spa is amazing. Get there early to make use of the hydromassage pools. The deep tissue massage was one of the best massages I've ever received Decor The entire resort feels like a New York City hotel dropped in a tropical paradise. The decor was tasteful and eye catching. Everything has been carefully considered, right down to the lighting near the pools in the evening I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I can guarantee you it's an experience you will not soon forget and will make going to any other resort very difficult after setting the bar that high.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Second time and will come back again!

This was our second time visiting the Luxury Bahia Princepe Akumal. The staff are amazing and so very friendly. The buffet's are actually GOOD and the a la carte's are a great experience. The beach is very well kept and it's great to be able to access the other resorts. We visited with our 2 year old and he loved it! We'll be back.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Beautiful Resort!

Just returned home from a stay at the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort. Everything was amazing. Well kept grounds, wonderful food, incredibly friendly staff and I could go on and on about how amazing everything was. The best thing about it was how accessible it was for the lady we traveled with who is in a wheelchair. This is the first resort I can definitely say we will be returning to.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Family Vacation

From beginning to end this trip was amazing! Staff are friendly and very accommodating to whatever we needed. The grounds are very clean and well maintained. Rooms are always swept and kept clean with fresh towels.....even slippers and a robe! Our kids ( ages 2 & 4) had an absolute blast. Barcelo Maya Palace: Something for everyone

We stayed here around 12 years ago and we wanted to return to relive some memories. We stayed at the Palace in a Premium room. The service overall was friendly. Breakfast service is spotty but not unusual for all inclusives in Mexico. Getting your coffee how you ask or even at all is 50/50 at the most. Luckily you can serve yourselves at the multiple coffee machines in the buffet area. The outdoor seating for breakfast is very nice. Lots of hammacks Great snorkeling on site with friendly fishes and turtles. We will likely return. The numerous kid waterparks are calling for our kids to come next time.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Restful stay

Dreams is a nice small resort with everything very handy. Rooms are decent size however beds a bit hard. Great beach and lovely pool. Never a problem getting chairs and staff are great. For a five star resort we expected more from the food. Terrible buffet with limited choices. Other 5star (and less) have carvery stations while Dreams simply had carved meat (and scarce at that) under hot lights. Disappointing. Breakfast at beach was by far the best meal, and lunch at beach was good as well. [... read more] A few of the restaurants were good but the majority was never quite hot. For this reason I would not go back. Entertainment was limited as well. For these reasons I give it only a 4 star.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great Food, Rocky Water

Restaurants were all great, with a wide variety of a la cartes available. Beach was weedy during our stay, but there's no control over that. The water was rocky, unfortunately, with no good spots to go in the ocean. The pools were very nice, and there were a lot of good activities available on the resort, including archery and air rifles. There are also a large number of animals wandering the resort, including at least two families of cats when we were there. The green spaces between the haciend [... read more]as and the lobbies were nice to walk through, but there are shuttles available if you want to use them. Rooms are fine but nothing special - they're not something I look for in a resort, however, so they had no real impact on me. The bed was a bit hard. Resort is close to Akumal (15 mins: snorkeling, swimming with turtles), Tulum (30 mins: archaeological site, nice beach), and Playa Del Carmen (30 mins: nightlife, shopping).

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing resort

Grand Bahai Principe Coba is a beautiful resort. The food was excellent and the service was, as a whole great. The resort is pretty far from the airport, though. Be prepared for a 1 1/2 - 2 hr ride. Playa de Carmen is about a 30-40 min drive from the resort. Not really worth the drive. Stay on the resort, free food and drinks! I would definitely return. Thank you Janet from TripCentral made the booking very easy, especially with all her post booking information.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great place

Housekeeping was not good. First day we arrived we waited 2.5 hrs for our room to be ready only to go in and c that there was someone else’s hair in the tub, floor was very dirty & sticky, as was the table. The balcony was very dirty not swept in a really long time. I requested housekeeping to come back & clean and nobody showed up, also when he/she did come we tipped good for that week, but not everything was cleaned! And most times we had to get our own drinks for the fridge, he only showed [... read more] up 2-3x during our stay . As for housekeeping - a score of 3 out of 10! Also coffee & condiments? I had to go to the front desk every day and get my own until I insisted onth bringing me some for everyday of my stay . Also went to a restaurant on the beach side and I was sick for two days after I eat when you’re vomiting the food that you actually ate at the restaurant and you know exactly what it is I had all the symptoms of food poisoning also when people go to the pool side and they reserve a chair with a book and a towel on it and it sits vacant from nine in the morning till five at night something needs to be done about that

Hotel was decent. I wouldn’t say it’s 5 star. Food was bland, had a hard time finding food that I liked. There was only one restaurant in the resort which I really enjoyed my meal. Staff were friendly.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Not what I expected

The resort itself is very nice. It’s big and has good shows and activities. Pools and beach is good. but The service and food is not the best. We paid for privilege and the room wasn’t even set up ready or properly clean. I highly recommend to get the privilege if you are booking this resort. Manager Carolina was very underestanding and she helped us with our issues but we were told the next day that she is gone for a week. We were supposed to get certain things sent to the room but it didnâ [... read more]€™t get send on time. Also the reservations for the restaurants got mixed up. Overall the resort itself is good but the food and service is not more than 3 star.

El Dorado Casitas Royale: Great May to Spend Xmas!

We recently celebrated Xmas with our family at El Dorado Casitas Royale. Visually this is one of the most beautiful and well cared for resorts that we've stayed at. The landscapers and grounds crew do an exceptional job making sure everything is groomed to perfection. We have stayed at this resort several times and have always enjoyed ourselves that we keep coming back and never hesitate to recommend this resort to our friends and family. The rooms are well decorated and very clean. The foo [... read more]d/restaurant selection is very good although sometimes there is some confusion when ordering but usually we find the food is delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed in the Presidential Studio section where our butlers - Ivan Ramirez and Xavier - made sure we were pampered and very well taken care of. Our pool bar tender - Rueben - was very attentive and also provided first class service. Already we're looking forward to our next trip!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful Resort!

We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo Maya Colonial. The resort was very clean and the beach was beautiful! The staff were friendly and warm and the food was good! Octavio went out of his way to serve us any time he saw us and he was a wonderfully friendly face to see in the lobby! He was very resourceful and always very helpful!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Resort - With some issues

We had a super vacation, once we got past the rooming issues. First of all Ill start with the positive and truly if you are in the right place of mind, the positives did end up outweighing the negatives. The beach was amazing, the food was great and there was always something to do. We played tons of beach volleyball, water aerobics and spend some time touring the other facilities. We were never bored! The only negative was the 4 room changes in 4 days. First room had a leak in the bathr [... read more]oom ceiling. Second room had no air conditioning. Third room only had single beds, and lastly the 4th room was perfect! The front desk was not very helpful or sympathetic to the fact that each morning we were packing and moving, which made it totally frustrating. We chose to move past the annoyances and enjoy the weather and beach!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Disappointing resort

The grounds were nice and the staff were friendly. However there were many problems with this resort including: no hot water for showers, only 1 pool for non club members, not enough deck chairs and pool space available for non club members, washroom at beach was for club members only, the lobby buffet was hit or miss, main pool should have another bar, ala cart restaurants do not take reservations. The resort is over priced and I would recommend other resorts over this one.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great as usual

There were just a couple things a bit disappointing but overall great as usual. This was my 7th time to the resort, joining me were 2 guests I introduced to the facility last year. There is always as much or a little as you choose to do which is one of the best features. Drives and snorkeling right from site was a plus for my brother who joined me this year. Food was great! Alacart never disappoint. Our room was 3901. I had requested 2 beds but room had a king. The check in desk had no desire to change our room. I should have asked when at main lobby getting our keys to work. The room was not ready when we checked in at 7pm. Instead of changing the room for us they brought on a small twin bed. My 6' tall brother was a good sport and stayed on it for our 9 days. This room was very noisy with services at back door to Tequila restaurant, early in morning and not a great view. I know the resort well enough now to request a better room, especially when it is not busy. Good value, good guests, good staff. I'm sure I will return.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Fun Filled Week Of Adventure

EXCARET RESORT We vacationed here in August of 2018. The resort is relatively new, so the rooms are in excellent condition, the numerous pools & grounds are well maintained, the food was very good, the sandy beach area is somewhat small but clean, the water was warm & relatively clear but nothing to see when snorkelling. The inshore waterways were good for swimming with sandy beach areas. The snorkelling here was OK near the rocky shores but the water was somewhat cloudy. Kayaks are free to  [... read more]use on the river & there are also waterslides that drop you into the river. The one shortcoming at the resort is the lack of public washrooms near the pools. Most times we went back to our rooms for washroom facilities. However the main reason for booking this resort in my opinion is the numerous adventure outings that are included in the package. My wife & I (both seniors) travelled with our daughter, son-in-law & grandson (age 8). They wanted to explore the various parks & go on excursions, so my wife & I also went along. I must say that we had an extremely busy, fun filled week of adventure. I suggest wearing water socks – something that won’t fall off during various water activities as well as on the zip lines. We basically wore water socks & swim suits all day long at all the excursions except for the trip to the Tulum Ruins. A waterproof camera is a must but you may not be allowed to carry it with you on some activities. There are photo packages available for Hotel Xcaret, Xenotes, Xplor etc. The shuttle bus runs about every 30 minutes from Hotel Xcaret, stopping at Xenses Park, Xcaret Park & then Xplor Park. We went on a half day guided Mayan tour to Tulum where we learned about & explored the ruins. This tour must be booked in advance. There is also a tour to the Chichen Itza ruins, but this tour is an all day tour. This tour involves a 3 hour ride there, a 90 minute guided tour, 60 minutes to wander around, 45 minute drive to a town for lunch, a stop at a cenote & a 2 hour drive back arriving at 6:45 pm. We did not go on this tour but my other daughter was here previously & while she was impressed with the ruins, it proved to be a long hot day. This tour must be booked in advance. We went on the Xenotes all day tour. At the first cenote we rappelled down into the cavern where we floated in the cenote & viewed the rock formations and bat colony. Our daughter, son-in-law & grandson had fun jumping into the water from a 10-foot high ledge. At the second cenote we all zip lined numerous times into the warm waters of the cenote. Our 8-year-old grandson who only weighs 60 pounds was stranded about three quarters of the way down and had to let go, dropping about 15 feet into the water. It didn’t deter him at all as he repeated this zip line thrill at least 5 times. At the third cenote we swam in the warm open waters & made our way into an underground cave. Afterwards we kayaked up & down a river gorge. At the fourth cenote we went down a short water slide that dropped us into the warm water. We then walked up a trail to a cliff where we zip lined back down towards the water until we had to let go and splash back into the cenote. This was followed by a swim in the cenote & cliff jumping for the brave ones. This was a super fun day for all the family & one that we all would do again. Life jackets must be worn for all water activities & are provided free of charge. For lunch a very good jungle picnic was included. This tour must be booked in advance At Xel-Ha we climbed to the top of the lighthouse where we enjoyed the view & then went down the enclosed spiral water slide. We tubed down a lazy jungle river down to the cove or you could also swim down a mangrove-lined river to the cove. We really enjoyed going down the zip lines & splashing into the warm cove water numerous times. The cove also has cliff jumps into the water for the brave (my daughter, son-in-law & grandson), a rope challenge course over the water as well as snorkelling in the cove. There is a jungle bike ride. All food & drinks are also included. It’s definitely worth spending a full day here. This tour must be booked in advance Xplor Park: The shuttle takes about 15 minutes to get to Xplor Park from Hotel Xcaret. At Xplor Park we swam in an underground river that featured caves & stalactites. There is a spelunking hike where you can explore caverns featuring stalagmites. We paddled down an underground river on a raft. We zip lined on two courses, each comprised of seven very high towers. The towers are very high so climbing the stairs may be difficult for people with health issues. Some of the zip lines, you end up splashing into a pool of water. We also enjoyed the hammock splash & got to drive an amphibious jeep on a hilly, twisting, muddy jungle course. Helmets & life jackets are provided & must be worn for all activities. Free lockers are available as well as a change house. Suggest wearing water shoes. Buffet & drinks are also included. You can come and go using the shuttle but we spent the whole day here. Lots of fun for everyone. Our daughter, son-in-law & grandson returned after supper to experience all the activities lit up at night. This was called Xplor Fuego. Xcaret Park: The shuttle takes about 10 minutes to get to Xcaret Park from Hotel Xcaret. At Xcaret Park we swam in an underground river featuring a maze of caves & tunnels as well as fossil formations. We snorkelled in a shallow inlet that had lots of fish for viewing. This park also had a butterfly sanctuary, a bird aviary, a sea turtle cove (gigantic turtles), a shark pool, a coral reef aquarium, a Mayan Village & Mexican Cemetery. You are able to see jaguars, pumas, tapir, deer, flamingos & various other animals scattered among the discovery trails. There are various shows during the day. At night we viewed a spectacular tribute to Mexico Show. Another fun day. Included are food & drinks at the buffet restaurant, but anywhere else in the park you have to pay for food or drinks. Suggest wearing water shoes. Xenses Park: The shuttle takes about 5 minutes to get to Xenses Park from Hotel Xcaret. Here you get to experience 50 various mind-blowing activities that you have to see to believe. One of the experiences involves you feeling your way through a pitch-black tunnel in bare feet & wearing only a bathing suit. It takes about 10 minutes from one end of the tunnel to the other end. This experience is not for anyone who is claustrophobic or afraid of the dark. I will admit I had to pause about half way through and take a breath but I am glad I did the activity. You can also explore a labyrinth of lit underground caves & caverns. You can fly like a bird when strapped into a zip line harness. You can enjoy a natural spa as you float down a river of salts, followed by floating in mud & ending in a shower of fresh water. You can walk through a town where keeping your balance will be a challenge. This town has four fun houses to experience. You can go down an exciting water slide in darkness, not being able to see which direction the next turn is going to take you before you end up in a refreshing pool of water. You can experience all this in a half-day visit. Again another fun outing. Suggest wearing water shoes. As you can see from the write up we were out of the resort 6 of the 7 days enjoying the tours & parks. All these tours & parks were all inclusive in the Hotel Xcaret package. If these tours or parks are not something that you are interested in you may want to consider another resort that may be cheaper.
