Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa

The grounds of the resort are well maintained. The rooms are a little outdated but clean. The resort is on the smaller side, most of the restaurants are in the same area. There is tons of chairs beside the pools and along the beach. The beach area is small and because of the location you can't go for a long walk on the beach. There is two buffets, one indoors and the other open. Both serve most of the same food with a few different dishes. They only had one theme night where some dishes we [... read more]re different. We did four of the restaurants, Mexican, Italian, Japanese and Steak. The Japanese and the Italian were the best. They had a different band every night that played in the lobby bar before and after the main show. Friends of ours used the kids club which they really enjoyed. The margarita were delicious! They crepe and the food trucks were good lunch options. We used the bicycles on site to go to the marina that has a Dolphin center. The mini golf and tennis court were decent and the sports bar was fun with all the games. It was a relaxing vacation!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Highly reccomended!

This hotel is fantastic! The food is incredible. There was no dish we tried that anyone didn't enjoy thoroughly. Everyone that works here is friendly and accomodating. They keep this place very clean and are always working to improve things. The entertainment staff is wonderful and there are many different activities you can join in if you desire, but there are also many quiet spots in the resort that you can go to where you can be poolside without others around. Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Very pleasant resort

Pros: Very nice hotel. Grounds were well kept. Rooms were adequate although walls are paper thin. Dining was the highlight of this hotel. Food & service were excellent. Staff are very well trained. Enjoyed the hotel's entertainment. Cons: Music around pool and activities was very loud. "All Inclusive" allows for too much alcohol consumption which tended to create a loud and obnoxious environment. Alcohol service should be limited or refused to individuals who are inebriated. Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: FOOD POISONING-VIOLENTLY ILL-HOTEL COULD CARE LESS

We have just arrived home after a horrible stay at Paradisus La Perla. On Wed night we ate at a restaurant Bana Fusion, in which two hours later we were both violently ill until 4 am the next day. Luckily we met a nurse from Ontario and called her room and she came straight away with medication and ran out and bought us Gatorade. We alerted the hotel front desk and customer service but never heard from them. We were feeling better 46 hrs late and then ate at a restaurant The Grill and once a [... read more]gain was up all night ill. From there on in all we ate was a banana, dry toast and water. When we checked out the hotel did not inquire into our stay, they just passed up a piece of paper with a sad face or happy face on it and asked for our room and name. We were totally appalled at their lack of professionalism. This is hotel is marketing itself as a high end resort and part of a hotel chain which prides itself on customer service. Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Great time at Sandos Playacar ...except....

First the bad... We read that the resort had bicycles. We love to ride and looked forward to riding a lot. Unfortunately, the bicycles are terrible !! They all have very small frames, so the seat has to be jacked up very high. The bars are very low, so the resulting ergonomics are extremely punishing. So much so that we could only ride a few minutes before it was painful. We are not large people. I'm 5'8" and my girlfriend is even shorter. So forget riding any distance if you are any bigger t [... read more]han us. We thought that we would use the bicycles in the gym, but there was NO bicycles in the gym. Unbelievable !! There were stationary bicycles in an area devoted to spin classes but we were not allowed to use them unless we were there at a specific time for a class. This was very disappointing. Also, at every resort we have stayed at over the last 5 years, water peddle boats were available. NOT HERE. So no luck trying to get any bicycle exercise. This is important for me as I have bad knees. Now the good... We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this resort. First time in Mexico for us. The food was great. We found the serving staff to be friendly and enjoyable to talk to. The large beach area was kept clean by a machine that cleaned the sand every morning before sunrise. Went to one show, Michael Jackson tribute. Very good ! We spent a lot of time using the watersports equipment. We enjoyed using the kayaks, but the big hit for us was learning how to sail the Hobie Cat Catamaran. After a short lesson from Gilberto I was able to sail confidently. My girlfriend and I spent a fair amount of time sailing in the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean. This was heaven !! Can't say enough about the great watersports staff that we spent a lot of time with on the beach. They were very friendly towards us. We felt they were taking good care of us and watching out for our safety. Hats off to the watersports crew... Armin, Jorge, Gilberto, and Marcello. You guys are the BEST !!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Very nice resort

Great pools, awesome buffet and a la carte. Resort grounds very well kept and clean. Staff always very friendly. Nightly entertainments and daily activities are plentiful. If you prefer to just relax, then there are many ways to do this as well. Lots of interesting excursions available if you want a change of scenery. Highly recommended and would definitely return.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great Vacation!

The Royalton Hideaway Cancun was great! The adults only section was great and you could get everything you need without mixing with all the families on the other side of the resort. The room, the restaurants, the shows and the STAFF were awesome. I don't think I got up for a drink once! The ONLY downside to this resort is the beach. Although long and had beautiful white sand, there was a ton of seaweed and the first 10-20 feet into the water it was very murky. Overall, I would give this resort a [... read more]n 8 out of 10...it's a strong4-4.5 star and delivered on all it's selling features.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great beach!

I think the beach and the mangrove forest with the monkeys was the best part of this resort. The resort had some sandbag berms installed about 50m into the water, trapping the sand, which made the water pristine baby blue and clear, which the rest of the beach beyond the resort, did not have. Also this time of year (early Jan) the pool water was cool and the ocean a lot warmer which made the beach more attractive than the pool area. The meals at the restaurants in the evening was absolutely excellent (especially the Italian and French restaurants). The Mexican restaurant was very good too. Thai was below my expectations as it didn't taste at all like typical Thai to me. The service at this resort was also below my typical experiences at a 5 * resort. In my 5 days there, the maid service was inadequate (a dirty rag was left behind, not enough fresh towels were restocked and neither were enough water bottles provided for 3/5 days I was there) - it was however a clean (and new) room I stayed at so I was happy about that. I would have liked to have better cleaning service though for the price I paid to be there which was far above what I normally spend for a 5* in Mexico. Also, I found it surprising that not everything was all inclusive in this "all inclusive" resort. Again, for the money it cost to be there, I would have thought that "all inclusive" means all inclusive and that a fresh coconut at the beach shouldn't cost an additional $5US. That's just a rip off! Neither should the beds under the canopy's by the pool area cost extra to rent. That's just nickel and diming tourists. I've never seen this before at other 5* resorts. Disappointing extra costs. Upon check out I was also not told that if I didn't return the resort bracelets they tag you with for the stay, at check out, I would be charged an additional fee. I thought that having to pay that would be outrageous especially given how expensive this resort is. If you have lots of money to spend this place is pretty good but I wouldn't peg it as that much better than other places I've been.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Beautiful, Relaxing Vacation

This resort was absolutely beautiful with the walking paths, animals, and foliage. The staff was always cheerful and helpful, and we found the food to be superb (especially the international buffet!). The only complaint we had were the pillows were not very comfortable, but it wasn't really enough to complain about. But the small shopping centre was a lovely short walk away. We loved going for a little walk first thing in the morning to get our coffee (and sometimes crepes). We were thankful for [... read more] the quiet areas of the pool/lounging for our reading binges. We would most definitely go back as this one is our favourite resort we have been to so far!

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Outstanding !

This was an amazing resort from staff , grounds , rooms , entertainment , landscape , food and facilities . I have been 8 times to Mexico and this was a resort that left me impressed , I absolutely have not one complaint . The staff was very friendly fast and efficient , the beach was stunning as well as no seaweed . The kids club is definitely worth it if you have kids , staff very kind and friendly and just impressive all around . The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Fantastic

Number one was the food! Exceptional! And the staff everywhere were welcoming and helpful. The grounds were spotless and the flowers were just starting to bloom. The pool activities like Zumba and aqua fit were a lot of fun and helped keep me active during my stay. Number two was the spa. As I was at the resort with my sisters, we took advantage of the free Transat spa activities like hot tub, steam room and sauna nearly every day, We also had facials and massages by very competent staff. We felt safe and well taken care of. There were tennis courts and lessons but I would have liked a few Pickleball courts. Yes, I would recommend this resort!

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Decent Resort

We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, there wasn’t enough drawers to put away our clothing but the room itself was very nice and clean thanks to the amazing house cleaning staff. This resort was clean, staff was friendly, food was decent. The Japanese restaurant was outstanding, the best of the a la crate restaurants. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Awesome Get Away

This was our second visit to Sian Kaan because we were very impressed the first time we visited. The resort is placed away from the craziness of the other Bhai resorts but close enough to sample all of the restaurants ( which are amazing) and of course the beach. The shuttle service is always running and its very simple to get around. Unico 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

Everything about this resort was top notch...from the room to the grounds, the pools, the dining and especially the service. Our host was friendly, available and helpful. Even though it rained on our snorkeling excursion in Tulum, it still was an amazing and fun experience!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Nice place but not for young person

The hotel is very nice. Food in buffet and italian restaurant were really good. The staff was gentil and every thing was beautifull and clean. The only thing that I less liked is ‘’the americanisation’’ of the hotel... I felt like was in the USA. Ex: The buffet food, the music, the travelers, every employes was talking in english... It takes four days to have new water bottle in the room and they never change the sheets during the 11 days we were there.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Beautiful resort!

Lovely hotel for family with young children.Staff more than willing to help out with any concerns or questions. Loved the grounds with the jungle like feeling. Enough activities for everyone while not having to leave the resort. Great resort.! Excellent sports and entertainment staff! Shows were awesome!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: The Five Azul

My first all inclusive..... I was very impressed. The resort was very organized, clean, the staff was helpful accommodating extremely friendly. I have nothing negative to say. The food was exquisite, prepared to perfection. I highly recommend The Five Azul to anyone interested in an all inclusive.

This resort was beautiful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The beach was well kept and not rocky. However, the beach was very busy on the weekend because it is open to the public. The pools were immaculate. The best thing about the resort was the food. The Mexican restaurant was the best in my opinion. In fact every restaurant, even the buffet, was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was beautiful and relaxing. Overall a great vacation getaway.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good and bad

The Good- Service was great, premises were clean, lots of chairs on the beach and near the pool, lot's of wildlife to see, animation staff were great and many games to play, buffet was ok and restaurants were great. The Bad- Loud hallways, early door knocking from cleaning staff, no swim up bar, food poisoning on the last day that I'm still dealing with. At least 6 other people were sick throughout their trip that I know of. Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Very nice resort

Our second visit to Oceans. The best food we've found in the area. The staff is great, everything is clean, and a nice beach. Quiet areas and action areas, something for everyone. Bartender Carlos Cuevas made the best drinks at a little snack bar by the kids pool and Waiter Eduardo Ceurcia kept our glasses full while we were on the beach. At night Bartender Johnson kept us well entertained in the main lobby bar.
