Starfish Jibacoa: We Loved this place!

We left from Hamilton airport- the prices for next year March are more expensive right now- hoping it will be reduced in the next coming months. Might go twice next spring (depending on the price)

Melia Marina Varadero: Remarkable Resort

The Melia Varadero is amazing!! The grounds, buildings, rooms, etc. are very well taken care of: clean, tidy, welcoming. The staff is excellent and aims to please. There are many places to sit and have a drink and/or snack throughout the day and night. We stayed on the Level which is worth every extra cent. We love this resort and hope to return in the future.

Barcelo Solymar: It was okay!

We stayed at Barcelona Solymar. The hotel was pretty clean for the most part. The rooms were pretty standard for Cuba. The people working there were fairly friendly. One thing I find is you do not go to Cuba for the food, the food isn’t very good. The food at our resort was the best food I’ve had in Cuba this time around! The beach was a fair walk from the resort, 2-3 mins! The beaches are clean and absolutely beautiful. The one problem I had was the bars that served liqour were all closed b [... read more]y 12am... so if you didn’t drink beer you were kind of out of luck! The distance from the airport to the resort we were at wasn’t that long, 45 mins or so! Going into town was the best part, The Beatles Club is ALWAYS a good time, and the drinks are cheap. I also love the old cars that they have for Taxis, a nice touch. The Water pressure in the rooms are very poor, and the tv didn’t work when we got to our resort, the sliding door was also in need of repair, it was very hard to open and close. We also had a room Overlooking a new resort that they were doing construction on, so we got woken up to pounding and shouting every morning we were there, when we asked for another room they had said the resort was COMPLETELY booked, which didn’t make sense because there wasn’t that many people there... Other than that, id definitely go back to Cuba.

Melia Marina Varadero: Very good resort. I would return to it.

This hotel was good, clean rooms excellent service all around. The food was okay you could always find something to eat. The only complaint about the food was that you had to look for hot food or stand in line to get cooked to your taste. I liked the fact that the entertainment switched sides of the resort since no other place to hold events.

Roc Barlovento: Great Time!

Stayed at this Hotel from April 7th-14th. Had a fantastic time. Food was better than expected with the negative reviews I read. The beach, location and plenty of things to do nearby are all great. Rooms was adequate enough considering it was only used for sleep and showers anyway. Clean and well kept up by our maid. Everyone I met here were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay at this location again anytime.

Grand Memories Varadero: A Gem of a Resort

I have to say for my first trip to Cuba this was a great experience. The beach and pools were Amazing and the grounds of the Resort were so lovely I enjoyed walking around looking at the various plants and flowers. The staff for me was the icing on the top they were kind, helpful and always greeted you with a smile. The food was also a huge plus so much variety and taste I have always heard food is bland in Cuba well not at this resort Well done to all the cooks and servers. This resort does [... read more] need to work on more entertainment as I found it lacking on music I expected more Cuban flair and music often throughout the resort this was not the case it was scheduled late or there was just back ground music. Overall I would go back again in a minute it was an Amazing Experience.

Hotel Los Cactus: amazing resort/best time ever

second time to this resort ,so many repeat customers here ,the staff was the best out of all the resort we have been to in varadero.The food is typical Cuban good days and bad but the wait staff do everything in their powers to make it good. I would recommend this resort to anyone stay in the pool side suites not junior suites if you want a nice relaxing quiet time. Cant wait to book again for next April

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great relaxing stay!

Great first resort experience, very clean rooms and grounds, attentive staff, close to the beach, decent variety of food, I would even say better than what I was planning for. I couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Melia Marina Varadero: 1* resort

Where do I begin... Firstly the reason we chose this resort is because of all the reviews we read on Google and trip advisor claiming to be a 4.5* and the Actual Resort Claiming themselves to be a 5*. This resort is far from a 5*, more like a 1* if that. Firstly after I booked this resort I sent the Hotel 2 emails requesting and confirming that I will need a crib for my 9 month old, both email replies from the Hotel said yes they will provide a crib upon arrival. We get to the Hotel, I advise th [... read more]e front desk that we need a crib or play pen in our room for my daughter, they assure me that I will be receiving a crib within the hour. After about 2 hours no crib, I go down to the front desk and the lady advises me there are no cribs and that i'll have to wait until the morning when other guests check out (I did not receive a crib), that was my first disappointment. Now the bedroom itself was completely run down, there were cracks in every piece of furniture wall bath tub, I can go on... Next morning we go to the pool, there is absolutely no shade by the pools. I have a 9 month old so shade is an absolute must. The only shade that was available was for "The Level Up" clients, which I will get to in a moment. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner was the exact same thing for every meal in the buffet, breakfast had eggs but that was the only difference. And honestly I wouldn't have minded if the food was good, but the food was beyond bad. My 9 month old is a great eater and she threw everything I handed her on the floor. Now for "The Level Up" services, so basically if you're willing to pay an additional $100 a day for this premium service you eat premium food and receive premium services. You also get access to the only shade by the pool, the huts which are exclusive to Level Up clients only. When I booked a 5* resort I expect at least a 4-4.5* resort (in Cuba that is). Why should I have to pay an additional $500 on top of what I paid for the trip to get the 5* treatment. Makes absolute so sense. along with all these reasons and many others (like bed bugs in the bed... Yes there were bed bugs in our bed) this is definitely the last trip to Cuba.

Playa Vista Azul: Fantastic resort and Awesome Staff

Just got back from spending a spectacular week at the Ocean Vista. First of all Thank you Amanda! Booking with you was very smooth and excellent. Our check in was very easy and the rooms were modern and clean. Service was perfect and the people were so friendly and treated us excellent. Our maid Raquel was the best, she always came to say hi in the morning and check to see if we needed anything extra. The entertainment staff went above and beyond to make our stay most enjoyable. We also enjoyed the music entertainment at the Lobby bar at night before the show. Loved everyone at the pool bar, where we had the best time. Henry Ernesto, Livia, Mayrelin, Yos and Yeni, You guys were so much fun!! Lobby has an amazing view which overlooks the infinity pool and the seafront. Both beaches were beautiful and the lunch buffet at the small beach was amazing as well as the people there. Loved getting to know Rachel-(such a sweetheart) Staff at the buffet are also very nice, there was always a good variety to choose from. I looked forward to my omelette in the mornings just to see Erlennys( she made my morning with that big beautiful smile. We visited all the à la cartes and enjoyed them very much too. We also enjoyed our daily visit to Mike's cafe, the girls there are so friendly. Cant forget our new friends at the Theatre Bar Mirunga, Alejandro,Neston and Adonis. They went above and beyond everyday to make our stay that much more enjoyable. Really enjoyed getting to know them. Lastly we can't forget the groundskeepers who worked hard everyday to make it look spectacular . Cant wait to go back next year!

Playa Caleta: good for the value

clean . new furniture .some doors need repair. nice view, great balcony. lobby big and pleasant. nice beach, but it is what you get for three star hotel.close to the stores, market, flee market. varadero near by to go for a walk.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great Vacation

I spent two weeks at this location. I loved it. If I had to be picky, I would have liked a sit-down bar in the resort, which would have made it easier to meet people. Also, I got dinged 15CUC because I didn't return my beach towel to the right place at the right time. And the wifi is pretty marginal. Other than that, I had a wonderful time. Great, friendly staff, clean room, beautiful beach.

Melia Marina Varadero: Mediocre Resort

The hotel looked great from the outside. Rooms are a little worn. Left our towels on the floor to be changed on the third day. Staff just folded them and put them in the counter damp to continue using. When we asked for clean linen housekeeping did not want to change them. Beds were rock hard. Food in the main restaurant was the same each day. When we tried to book our a la carte they insisted they were booked solid. When we did wrangle reservations the restaurants were 90 percent empty each ti [... read more]me. No bank machines on site. Closest was a 20 peso ride away each way.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful Resort

No regrets booking this beautiful resort. The staff are amazing, especially the pool bar, as well as the buffet. Always greeted with a big smile, or a high five. Food was very good for Cuba, the resort was very clean, and easy to navigate. I would return in a heartbeat. 😎

Villa Tortuga: Not what I expected

Most of the staff were good. The first room I was given was already registered to a male. Told the front desk and they said it was ok to stay, I told them I want another room. Got the second room and was bitten by many many bugs. Finally got a room the last night before I was leaving and the key card wasn’t registered to that room and the door wouldn’t unlock. Roc Barlovento: Great Trip Great Location

The ROC Barlevento is a small adult resort. The resort itself is in need of some updating but the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The pools are smaller but we never had a problem finding a lounge chair around either pool and the beach was the same. There were multiple Palm tree umbrellas on the beach to keep you out of the sun and lifeguards on duty all day and again no issues finding a beach lounge chair. A small restaurant just off the resort that offers fresh pizza( as well as other great food) and great atmosphere. We had a lot of people tell us about how bland the food is on the resorts in Cuba but we had no issues with the food. We actually talked to many couples who now frequent this resort because the food at ROC Barlevento is so much better than other resorts on the island. We also tipped our waiter 5 CUC on our second day at the buffet and everyday after that we entered the buffet to find our table set for six with our drinks of choice waiting. Cuba in itself was amazing! It was like getting dropped back into the 50's to see all the old cars. Definately one of the highlights of our trip was 6 of us riding a horse and buggy jamming to Eminem on the stereo in the buggy heading to the BEATLES bar to listen to the live bands on the outside stage. Definately will be making another trip to this resort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not worth the money.

Beach is good, but not enough shade. Renovations in progress, dirty and loud. Rooms that were suposed to be renovted were only covered with paint over the moulded walls. No door in shower or on the bathroom in one of the rooms. Food areas were very dirty, suff unpleasant, food lacking . Towels and sheets replaced only if requested, only big towels, no face towels and smelled very bad .theater was being renovated, shows in lobby which want lobby was always full and loud at night.

Melia Marina Varadero: A trip to remember!!

This was my first international trip. My husband and I were very pleased with the Melia Marina resort! The staff was friendly, the food was excellent and our room was very clean, spacious and had an awesome view! The pools and swim up bar were great too! And the beach was my favorite place to be! We are hoping to return someday soon!

Hotel Los Cactus: Excellent vacation

Beautiful grounds, amazing beach, a big nice pool, friendly staff, good food. It didn't feel crowded in spite of the hotel being fully booked. Could always find a lounge at the beach or the pool. Well above the expectations. Would highly recommend this resort. Had a wonderful time.

Hotel Bella Costa: Hotel Bella Costa

Was most impressed with our accommodations - rooms were clean, the food was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well groomed - entertainment was great and the beach was amazing. Sunny and hot everyday with a nice trade wind. Took some day trips - Havana, etc. Wonderful time!!
