Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: A smoker's paradise

Thumbs up: - Plenty of beach to walk along. A couple of km for sure. - Exterior is lush with palm trees and lots of vegetation. It's beautiful especially at night. - I deal for couples and children. Thumb down: No face towels in the room. Every 2 days I had to request them. No drink service in the common areas. Think self-service when sitting in a lounge chair by the pool or beach or in the lobby area. I knew something was "off" when all I was given during registration was a [... read more] card for my room and a card for my pool towel. No map of the resort. No description of the restaurants and schedules. Nada. The non-smoking area is simply...nowhere. This particular hotel seems to favor smokers overall. Seaweed problem. No decaf in the rooms and no effort was made to get some. In fact, asking for it appeared to bother the front desk. The manager, himself, appeared uninterested in any of my concerns. Perhaps, if I had been a smoker with a family of 3, more attention would have been provided? No problem. I get it. The D.R. is known for scams so if you leave the resort, chances are that you'll get victimized. I got scammed using, of all things, Uber Know that if you are a solo traveller, you won't get the same level of attention. Solo travellers appear to fall through the cracks. Reserving a long chair in the pool area is common and appears to be most welcome. Better get there early if you want a chair. People commonly reserve long chairs for a week at a time. My over all impression of this particular Iberostar resort is that it is using the "Iberostar" brand to attract patrons and since Iberostar corporate doesn't enforce a high standard of quality service in all of its hotels, I will no longer be visiting the chain. I've been to Iberostar 4 years in a row and this was my last.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: The place to relax

Nice moderate size hotel located on a great sandy beach with lots of palms.beautufl pools and great food.wonderful coffee shop.nightly entertainment.great service.premium alcohol at lobby.staff available to answer questions and always smiling.lots if places to sit drink and chat about

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: We liked this resort so much, we returned for the second time.

As stated, this was a return trip, having gone to the Aquamarine in 2019. The only difference was the carrier. A special shoutout to Hector in reception who handled our request for a room change closer to the lobby and buffet so that my wife did not have to walk far on her bad knees. Our room was great, the bed was comfortable. Great food at the buffets. Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort: Best resort in Punta Cana

Loved this place. We had a swim up room and were impressed with all aspects of this beautiful resort. To put it simply, this is now only resort I would go to in Punta Cana. Modern and clean. Great food. Great service.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Resort

V Heavens is a clean well kept resort. Rooms are spacious, clean, fridge kept stocked, good WIfi coverage. Restaurants including the buffet was very good. Beach was a short walk away with a nice restaurant for lunch and drinks. No shortage of lounges at the beach. Staff was excellent.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Beautiful and amazing resort

Stunning resort, beautiful, well maintained grounds, amazing food, fabulous Mike's coffee! All employees were very helpful, with any questions or needs! Great beach area! There were ppl on the beach selling goods, but found them to be respectful and not pushy. The only negative was that our room had a hint of musty odor.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful resort, well maintained.

This resort could easily move up to a 5 star rating with just a couple of improvements. In the opinion of everyone in our group, there is a problem with smoking. There are too many areas for inconsiderate smokers to do their harm. The smoking is allowed in the lobby, on the beach, all around the pool, and other areas as well. It looks to me like the resort is trying to improve, but they still have a long way to go. Smokers light up around babies, toddlers, children, and just about anywhere th [... read more]ey want. Their cigarette butts are thrown all over the resort, and look very unsightly...a real problem esp.aroung the pool area. There should be non-smoking throughout the resort, with just a few smoking sections allowed. The only other complaint was: too many mosquitos on the resort. We all felt there should have been more spraying to help control the mosquito problem. We had mosquitos in our room every night, (we think the cleaning staff open up the patio doors every day while they clean)...and had to try and kill the mosquitos every night before going to sleep, - we didn't always succeed in getting them all. We came away with horrible, multiple mosquito bites.

Ocean El Faro: Mixed reactions

Resort very nice, rooms great with good size, food tasty, pools fantastic with separate pools for kids and adult only section with great pools. However, the beach is poor with rocks on the land side and some in the water as well. Entertainment was lousy. Lounge area in particular music was poor. In pool areas, music blaring throughout the day ... Too loud. The front reception area and lounge was wonderful with lots of space and comfortable chairs throughout. Staff great and always polite.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Two words ... Fantastic Trip!

I booked this trip a bit last minute to surprise my husband for his 40th birthday. The roulette option was very unconventional for me, but I reviewed both Bahia hotels and figured I'd be happy with whichever resort we ended up at. We were fortunate to get the Cayacoa. Our gardeview room was upgraded to a view of the pool and ocean. The views from anywhere on the resort are spectacular. It's a quick walk in to town and the causeway along the ocean is also an amazing option. The bartender (R [... read more]aul) at the main pool was awesome. The entertainment staff including Flo and Jeffrey were so friendly. They remembered my husband by name! But were not pushy in the least. You could tell they truly enjoyed their job. The dancing lessons around the pool were fun, aqua aerobics were entertaining and volleyball in the pool was a not to be missed event! There was a pretty good selection of food and no issues with the a la carte restaurants. We had issues with our door which required them to change the handle which afterwards caused issues with our keys, but we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation none the least. We were fortunate to have other amazing guests at the hotel the week we were there. We would most definitely recommend this resort.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Beautiful Pool and Beach

The Majestic Colonial is a lovely resort. Our room was very large, comfortable and clean. We had two massive balconies - one overlooking the beautiful pool and one more private one with a jacuzzi tub. The pool was lovely and the beach was too. Very clean and very relaxing. Had no trouble getting beach chairs at the pool or at the beach. The food was ok. Liked the option of having a fresh omelet at breakfast and freshly cooked chicken or beef for lunch. Staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and always seemed to be so happy and in good cheer.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Loved this resort!

The resort and grounds were beautiful. We upgraded to a Privileged room - it was well worth it! The room was impressive and spacious with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. The balcony had a hammock and great view - a nice place to retreat to when it rained. The dining was fantastic - we enjoyed all of the restaurants, though the buffet was so good it wasn't even necessary to go to the à la carte restaurants. The coffee house was a real treat - it was tucked away near the shops (we waited [... read more] too long to find it). The resort staff were very nice. Unfortunately the vendors were on site certain days during the week - and we found them aggressive. The birds at the resort were delightful - some were real characters and there were quite a few ducklings. We really enjoyed our encounters with them. The beach was beautiful to walk on - instead of seeing only other resorts - we saw palm trees and a more natural setting. There was some seaweed - which was not bothersome to us, and was cleared off the beach regularly. It was possible to snorkel right off the resort beach because there were coral reefs there. The animation team was lots of fun. The evening shows were entertaining. We did one excursion to Catalina Island - it included great snorkeling, was all-inclusive on the island, and had a beautiful sandy beach. I would definitely return to this resort.

Playabachata Hotel: A lot of pluses but a few negatives.

Great setting with well kept grounds. Food was acceptable but more variety needed. Entertainment was exceptional on a few occasions. Too many rude and unfriendly Russian tourists. Found the staff very friendly and smiling.

Secrets Cap Cana: Beautiful resort - excellent service!

This resort was fantastic. Best service I’ve ever had. From the personal concierge, to the towel helpers, and wait staff. Everyone had a smiling face. The food was pretty good too - especially the breakfast buffet and the French restaurant. I wish there was more variety of entertainment in the evening. The biggest pain point was really not being able to make reservations for dinner. Every night we waited over an hour to be seated. And, there is only the lobby bar open to pass the time - which  [... read more]meant it was always packed. Even with the dinner wait times, this place was excellent and I’d recommend it to anyone!

Playabachata Hotel: Do not stay here!!!

I don’t ever write reviews, and usually take them with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, I should have adhered to what the majority of the reviews say. We stayed for two days, and paid to upgrade to the senator. Which is a resort next-door. It is very dull, not lit very well, has small swimming pools, mold in bathroom, no shampoos, lotions, or conditioners-which most 4 stars have. The buffet had extremely long lineups, no servers to assist you. It was considered to be a good meal when you got a  [... read more]glass for your water, and all pieces of cutlery. There was no need to tip because we never saw a server. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO GO HERE!!

Impressive Premium Punta Cana: Nice resort overall

We loved the layout of the resort, with four separate pools and a nice beachfront location. Not too much to do independently - we didn't see the free water toys, and the sea here isn't really conducive to kayaks or SUP anyway. We were Premium and a little disappointed that 'premium'drinks were available at one bar only, and even then, only if specifically requested. Room was very nice but no 'pillow menu'was ever offered. Grand Memories Punta Cana: Staff is not good especially bartenders

All around the resort is OK it’s clean the rooms were clean the area is clean the food was good but grand memories I was very disappointed with.When we first got there and went to the bar the bartender was unprofessional rude did not know how to make a drink did not care about our concerns and would not listen. Our room did not have any water I called three times nobody came to Give us any until I got an email from a random lady asking how our stay was Again I enjoyed the food the hotel was c [... read more]lean but the staff was not very good and did not care about our concerns.This may be random but this is just what happen with us.Also one big thing is all the bars and places close down at 10 PM at grand memories so we could not get a drink anywhere after 10 PM

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: Loved It.

The hotel was everything I expected from a 5star rated hotel. Room, hotel landscaping, beach, food and staff were excellent. The beach has the white sand and palm trees that we like and the water was warm and safe even for non swimmers. The food throughout the hotel was great and we especially liked the salmon and tuna meals at the Waves restaurant. Will certainly return.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: My stay

The resort was nice and clean. The elevator in our building never worked the entire time we were there. The front desk staff was not a friendly group to deal with or even showed concern when problems were brought to there attention. I have stayed at three star resorts that were nicer. I do not think I would return to this resort again.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Amazing Hotel

The beach was fantastic - always room under the palapas. The food was great at all a la carte restaurants except Brasilian where the meat was not cooked properly - too tough. The room was great as well as cleaning staff. Everyone was always ready to help. Restaurant reservations were easy to make from the app of the hotel, either on your phone or on the screens in the lobby. Fantastic 14 day holiday.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Excellent resort, would recommend it without hesitation

We stayed here from Feb 24 to Mar 2, 2020. The staff are fabulous, the resort grounds are impeccable. If you go I highly recommend the sunclub upgrade, it was well worth it. The beach is beautiful and very well maintained, the staff was up cleaning the seaweed and grounds before sun-up. Restaurant staff and bar staff were extremely friendly, the hotel maids were exceptional
