Sol Cayo Santa Maria: 2 1/2 Star

We had a VIP room, nice room, large and clean but very limited view of the ocean. The fridge and coffee were not always restocked but customer services was helpful and very nice. We have been traveling for 30 years and have been to Cuba on many occasions and I am sorry to have to say that the food at this resort is the worst we ever had. The buffet food was barely warm. My husband was sick on 2 occasions which has never happened before. The food at the a la carte restaurant, either the Italian  [... read more]or Cuban menu, was for the most part pitifull. I would have appreciated a disco at least a few times during the week. The piano bar is nice but not lively at all. Finally, service at the bars was excellent, even service on the beach at time. Very pleasant and always smiling.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: still very nice but needs upkeep

I like it mainly for the location between two gorgeous beaches. The resort is quite nice too and the grounds and gardens are well kept. However, since I have gone there several years I now notice degraded upkeep in for example path lighting (half of them broken), mold on tiles in the room, when I switched on the patio outdoor light one night, the whole place went dark! Instead of tripping the breaker in the room, it tripped the building's breaker. I must say that it only took about 5 min for the [... read more] repair man to show up after I called the front desk.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Delightful return stay

This was our second time at the Melio Cayo Santa Maria, imagine how delighted we were when we were remembered from our first stay. simply put we were so happy with the place that we came back. The beach is where we end up most of the time and they have one of the better ones in this area. The ocean is incredibly warm and clear. If you tire of the beach the large pool with a swim up bar and games with entertainment should amuse. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: totally awesome!!!

Great stay!! Really accommodating staff. LA a carte restaurants were amazing, especially the Asian and Seafood. Magicians in the evening were very entertaining. .lots of good laughs and fabulous people. Great entertainment staff.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent value!

Great location, spacious rooms, beautiful beach. Out of season, so the food choices are poor, however always able to find some grilled chicken, fish and great omelettes. Lots of chairs at the beach, great for long walks.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Loved It

Really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The facilities were very nice, clean, and well maintained. The resort is very spread out but with all the beautiful mature grounds it made it feel more secluded and private. We were located in Bldg 40 which gave us a short walk to either beach and the pool but the lobby and buffet were a long way away. Melia Las Dunas: Okay resort

Grounds, beach layout of resort and rooms were 5*, but food and drinks were 3*.compaints were, adult pool closed,seafood restaurant closed,didn't appreciate insecticide spray early as 5:00am and having to run and shut our windows and it was noisy for people on holidays.They also sprayed while we were going to dinner and smoked us out.Don't feel it is healthy to breathe that in,being a very strong odour.They should in future notify people of insecticide spray times.

Amazing grounds and food, not too impressed with the beach though. Outstanding customer service, able to accommodate any request including late check out with no fee. Friendly staff and really good nigh shows.

Melia Las Dunas: Fabulous experience!

This was my first time in Cuba and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms, food, beach, pool, entertainment and friendliness of the staff far exceeded my expectations. True, the beautiful weather helped as well! I loved the opportunities to play tennis, kayak, sail boating and the long walks on an amazing beach with the colors in the waters too beautiful to describe.

Melia Buenavista: Parents visited and loved it

I booked thia vacation for my parents. They got a great rate, had sun 85% of the time. Loved the beaches. Their room was pristine. Spa tub a bonus. Maids cleaned twice a day. Welcoming staff. Food dispels the Cuba food myth. Lots of seafood. Small service issue with a waitress was solved immediately. They said it was many times more enjoyable than Antigua. Thanks Melia! Playa Cayo Santa Maria: great resort not so great food

almost everything was great down to the room the resort the grounds .the pools 5 star the beach also great a little narrow but enough room for everyone .the check in is just ok and the front desk people are not near as friendly .The people working at the resort except the front dest are 5 plus stars .the entertainment is ok but considering the price wasn t expecting much .the food was not good breakfast was good but most everything else not so good and again considering the price my expectations [... read more] were low .the swim up bar great and the drinks were great and came as fast as needed

Melia Las Dunas: Exquisite Gardens! Friendly staff...

Beautiful resort - IRL looks same as photos. The grounds are very beautiful and lush. Staff was very friendly. Beach was soft sand. There was a great variety of food but it was somewhat bland on flavour.

This is my second time to this Hotel. It is very beautiful and peaceful. The staff members are always nice and friendly at all times. They will do anything they can to make your vacation stress free and relaxing

Went solo with my two kids, aged 13 (boy) and 6 year old girl...a kind of last minute chance to relax...the beach is the prettiest I've ever laid eyes on. The pools we clean and well maintained. The only downside would have to be the food, lots of choice, and presented nicely, but sadly most of it fell below expectations....I think the trick was to stick with the "local" fare, they seemed to shine in that aspect. Breakfast was always good...best donuts ever!! Lunch was good too, lots of choice. Dinner had lots of choice, grilling stations were tasty. Desserts were yummy!! I can't speak of the a la cartes, I only did one, the Japanese and it was tasty and a nice show!! We stuck to the Buffett to give my kids the choices! I'd go back in a heart beat for the staff....and of course the beach!!!!

Very good resort. Already I am thinking of returning back next year. very friendly staff and daily activities well planned and organised. All the buffets are serving good food and have good choices. My slight concern is for A La carte restaurants because their menus do not have many choices. Melia Las Dunas: Find a better resort

We travel extensively. This resort is very tired and is only about 8 years old. We went with three other couples. Every one of us had to move at least once, from cockroaches to roof leaking on our bed during a rainstorm. When there was a problem with our bed being soaked from the rain there is no sense of urgency or attempt to accommodate the situation. I asked to have a manger come on the phone but to no avail. I feel for the wonderful people that work there but I don't think they are aware of the problems since they do not live even in the standards of this resort. The resort is rated as a 5 star but wouldn't get more than a 2 from us. Yes it was cheap, $710 for a week, but it is the slow season. Half the resort and the quiet pool were closed. Beach chairs are covered in mildew. A tractor pulling a bug sprayer goes by the lobby each evening at about 5PM and fills the lobby and lobby bar area, which is the busiest time of day just before dinner, with clouds that smell like diesel fumes. The a la carte restaurants have trouble getting quality foods to serve so the meals are substandard. The best food was the fresh cooked pasta at the international buffet and the pizza at the Italian restaurant. I wouldn't consider or recommend this resort. In fact I would recommend you NOT to go to this resort.

The hotel was excellent. The setvice,the people and stuff was the best. The pool the beach was unbelievable. The food was more than we expected. We had some great tours too. The weather was very kind for the time we stayed.

Thank you so much for everything! Amazing food, very good people. We liked for everything!!! I was with my daughter, and we were happy with karaoke, intertaiment, nice staf. We took a very good trip in catamaran! Thank you! Lobster was every day, see food, very good restorants and staf!!!

A true 5 star resort! Excellent service from staff. Beautiful lobby, well decorated. There is even a separate bar lounge with a piano player. Also a cigar lounge next to cigar store. Restaurants discreetly tucked away. Fabulous seafood restaurant located near beach. Amazing beaches, clear turquoise water, fine white sand, can walk long distances.
