Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: The resort was satisfactory

The staff of the resort was amazing. They were friendly and very helpful. The shows were very good. We had some problems with both rooms that we had. The telephone did not work. The remote for the TV did not work and was replaced. The toilet often continued to run. Sometimes when I jiggled the mechanism for flushing that would help and sometimes when I removed the tank lid and jiggled the pieces inside that worked also. There were times when I had to call guest services for a repairman. The wate [... read more]r pressure in the tub and shower was not good. Sometimes there was no hot water, other times there was no cold water, only scalding. The food was OK but very repetitive. There was coral near the shore and you had to find a pathway to go deeper into the water where there was less coral. If you went deep enough there was no coral at all. The sand area is quite small.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Resort - Good Value for money !!!

The grounds are very well kept - downside : the beachfront walk (not the actual beach area) was very 'muddy' and exceptionally smelly (like being in the Camel house at a zoo). It was a little disappointing that there were only 2 a-la-carte nights, although beware... the Italian night is at the beach and you will be eaten alive by the mosquitoes - this meal was also the meal we enjoyed the least (small portions with little taste :-( ) The STAFF are wonderful, very friendly, polite and always will [... read more]ing to help :-) We had 3 rooms in block 17 and found the location was ideal for all happenings (beach, pool, meals & lobby) - the rooms are spacious, clean and cool (thanks to air-conditioning) - the beds were very very hard but we still slept well (although waking to a few back twinges). There is no on-site disco, instead there is supposed to be a bus at 10.30pm that will take you to a disco (first 20 passengers get to go free - don't know how much if not free - and unfortunately, the 1 night we decided to go to the disco (the Monday night) - the bus did not arrive even though we waited till just after 11pm. The buffet restaurant had an ample choice of things to eat with 2 stations cooking food to order (omelettes, eggs etc, & waffles - in the morning), (made to order pasta dishes & stir-fried meats at the other 2 meal-times). There was also a carvery every night - Andrew's special sauce to go with the roast pork is a must-try - I do not normally have sauces with my food but on his recommendation I tried his special sauce and it was wonderful - really complimented the taste and succulence of the roast pork, and to my delight - I got to have some of the 'crackling'(crispy pork rind) - I think that night was probably my favourite of all the meals :-) The 24-hour snack bar was a little disappointing as pizza was only offered between noon and 5pm, however the fresh cooked fries were wonderful - very tasty and crispy :-). The hot sandwich was only available as ham & cheese and was prepared on either burger buns or half hot-dog buns (depending on what they had available) - small but tasty. Coffee and hot beverages were available everywhere and the coffee was wonderful. The Lounge Bar (enclosed air-conditioned room) offered an excellent choice of coffee beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) - my husband and I enjoyed a night of trying various coffee drinks and enjoyed them all :-) - their cocktail selection was also excellent. My daughter's approved of the Virgin Pina Colada as well as the traditional version, and I approved of Cubre Libre (Rum & Coke) :-) The resort was definitely value for money. We recommend you do the VIP upgrade (only available to purchase once you are at the resort) for the return trip (costs 25cup (around $37 cdn$) - you get priority check-in at the airport and use of the air-conditioned VIP lounge where you are offered complimentary drinks and snacks (hot sandwiches etc) - well worth the comfort - there is also a smoking room attached to the lounge. VIP's also get priority boarding on the plane.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Amazing Trip

The trip was amazing from start to finish easy flights great greeting upon arrival and excellent baggage service to our room I think the bags were quicker then we were. the resort was very clean no plastic cups laying everywhere. the pool area was great as well as an amazing beach. The hotel bars were great excellent cappuccino excellent service from the wait staff. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful people, beach, and resort!

My boyfriend and I went together August 25-September 1, 2015. We could not have asked for a better experience. I have been to Cuba three times now (including this time) and this was definitely the best. Met some really cool people while we were there and was in great company all week long. The waiters/waitresses/bartenders/front desk staff/cleaners/maids/entertainment staff/maintenance/sunwing rep were ALL amazing. Everybody was really friendly, the resort was very clean, and the beach... oh my goodness the beach was beautiful. I read a few complains about the beach having a limited amount of loungers for non diamond club members and I do agree with them. Although we personally did not have any issues with finding loungers, we saw people walking up and down the beach looking for them. We saw a lot of fish that came REALLY close to shore and we also saw lots of fish, a starfish, a crab and lots of sand dollars! Also, because it's Cuba, I would like to comment on this resort's food. It was actually REALLY good for Cuba! I very much so enjoyed the grill stations in the buffet -- the stir fry and fish were my favourites for lunch and dinner, and of course the eggs and french toast were delicious in the morning. There's also a churros station at the pool bar (not the swim up or snack bar) and an ice cream parlour. Both were great!! Churros were made right there in the bar area so it was really fresh. Also, big shout out to the beach bartenders for the awesome mojitos, and the lobby bar for the café alexanders. You guys were amazing! There's always something to do while you're there at the resort. At the pool, there's aquafit classes, obstacle course races, dance performances, and water volleyball (there may be more but I can't remember all of the activities). At the beach, there's dance classes and beach volleyball. This resort is GREAT for families because they have kids shows and activities all the time. We also took booked the catamaran excursion and we had a wonderful time. Our catamaran was El Rayo and shout out to the captain and second in command, we had such a great time. The food was cooked right on the catamaran and it was delicious. We went to two snorkeling sites where we got to see a lot of fish and more starfish! Well worth it unless you have unrealistic expectations in my opinion. :) I plan on coming back again VERY soon. Thank you, Memories Caribe, for such an amazing experience. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Resort ok

Beautiful clear water white sand beach. Can snorkel in shallow water. Resort has room for improvement. Resort staff are friendly. Food is not that great & very salty. No non motorized acticities available.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Cuba, Cuba, Cuba...my home away from home!

This was my 6th time to Cuba and I traveled there with my best friend and this was her 12th time! We love Cuba...it's where we love to be and this resort was like most of the others we've been to in various locations around Cuba. Clean, staff are friendly, etc. This was our first time to Cayo Coco and I'm not sure I'd go back only because I prefer the beaches at Holguin or Santa Maria. The beach here had rock that you had to tiptoe around to get to the sand and there's not as much beach (width)  [... read more]as other places. However, the rum was still awesome and I never have crazy expectations in Cuba - I'm just happy to be there!!! Our room was nice however we didn't have hot water for the last three days and on the last day we didn't have water period! They were having issues in our building with the water along with ceiling issues - our room ceiling was leaking and the hallway drywall ceiling had fallen down! Meh...it happens!!! The food was really good at this resort - I'm a vegetarian and usually have a tough time finding a variety of foods but this resort nailed it! A la cartes were pretty good as well! The only thing I would change is the time of year I went - being summer it was just too hot for me. I do love the heat but this was too hot! Next time I'll stick to my winter vacations but it was good to get away and experience Cuba during the hot hot hot season!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great value for the money.

Excellent staff. Great beach. Newer resort. Plenty of food. Enjoyed the pool area tremendously. Big 5 star rooms. Lots to do inside resort with enough facilities for everyone in the family. Shows are ok. Wonderful experience.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Fantastic Resort! Highly recommended!

This hotel was beautiful with a stunning view off the balcony! The staff were amazing and worked extremely hard. The pool bar had great piña colada's and beer. We went to two A La Carte Restaurants Cuban and Italian which were both fantastic! The Cuban restaurant was overlooking the ocean and the window we opened to allow a nice breeze inside. The buffets had a good selection of fresh food. The beach was phenomenal and the sand was like fine powder with shallow water making it a perfect destina [... read more]tion for families with little youngsters. Highly recommended and my mom and I will be returning in the future!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not recomemded between age of 20 to 30.

The hotel's lobby was to small and to closed (no air), the bartenders weren't that friendly! No rooms im the mane lobby, they are all seperated in bungalows... Room service is slow.... Somedays my room wasnt cleaned before 4pm and i was in bungalow 3! Buffet was horrible (as usual, cuba is not the place to eat unless you eat outside the resort) NO CLUBS! Horrible shows (compare to other hotels) entertainment team was only interesting for kids! Caya coco is 1 hour away from the closes city (moron [... read more]) so theres nothing much to do.... I would of expected a better entertainment in the hotel but i was very disappointed! The beach is amazing caya coco and cay largo have the best beach. So basicaly you only want to go to that hotel if you have small children. NOT to party!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Wonderful Resort....

This resort is great, I don't understand why people had bad reviews. Beautiful grounds, great staff who were always helpful, nice rooms, huge pools. Food was really good as well. Great spot for our family vacation. Beach is beautiful and yes there are spots with rock coverage - bring water shoes.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Perfect for families

This is our 3'rd trip to Cuba and this was the best resort we've stayed at. The beach was fantastic as was the pool. The drinks were hit and miss depending on the bar tender, best drinks were at the Churro stand by the pool. Afternoon and nightly entertainment for the kids and then adults involving them in games. The soap suds party on Friday was awesome. Nice to have an ice cream bar by the pool.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: absolutely amazing family resort

The Pestana hotel was amazing. Friendliest of staff, beautiful grounds, amazing beach, huge pool and the food was good!!! The Transat rep was welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. This is a family resort. If u are looking to party this is not the hotel for you. Can't wait to go back.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Enjoyable Vacation

The rooms were clean and quiet. The shower/tub combination was quite high off the ground and therefore dangerous for those of us that have have knee and hip replacements. The food was good and plentiful. The beach was peaceful. We did a couple of side trips which were fun!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing,

This was our first trip to Cuba and we were blown away with the resort, the people and the service. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and were hesitant about Cuba but are thrilled we decided to go. The resort is a short drive from the airport (15 minutes) and we were worried our room wouldn't be ready since we arrived at 10 am.check in took 5 minutes and we were in our room 10 minutes later, and on the beach right after that. Our meal at the Cuban restaurant was not that good but the view was nice. The staff are incredible and will bend over backwards to make sure your vacation is perfect!! Tryp Cayo Coco: Beautiful beach very nice people

Went to the Tryp Resort for 1 week in August. The grounds were kept clean the rooms were kept clean, however, the room I was given initially was awful cosmetically speaking. I was actually offended that I paid for a vacation and was given such a room. Once I complained it was changed the next morning. As well there was no one to help us with our luggage and we had to walk far to get to our room that was unacceptable not a good start to a vacation. A couple ladies at the front desk were rude and not helpful not a good impression for reception. It appeared that if you did not speak Spanish you were not treated the same. But the beach was absolutely beautiful.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Family Resort

We were really happy with this resort. Great for families with small children. It is not too big or overwhelming for our 2 year old. Any requests we had were all addressed right away by friendly staff.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Pestana Cayo Coco -the good and the bad

Pestana: the Good and the Bad. This property is located an easy 15 minutes from the Cayo Coco airport and it has a beautiful beach and nice buildings. The Junior suite we had was neat, clean. and roomy The grounds are tidy and the hotel staff are all friendly. The pool is split into two halves --kids/adults. Our e-mail request for a ground floor unit with a king bed was never acknowledged , but it WAS honoured. The buffets have plenty of food of various types and we sampled two of the ala carte [... read more] restaurants ( Cuban and Italian) both fairly good. The resort's potential is limited by the " shaky" Cuban infrastructure. Examples : 1. no water after dinner on the first night-so we unable to shower that evening. The water was back on late the next morning but the power was off when we awoke so we couldn't see in the bathroom to shower/shave etc. ! -- Power restored only at 2:30 pm. 2. The power outage apparently shut down the laundry so no pool towels were available until the fifth day of our stay. The towels provided each guest in the room consisted of only one medium sized bath towel and one face cloth per person so you can imagine making those two pieces of linen serve your needs for the beach, the bathroom and the pool. The only way to get a clean towel was to give up one dirty one so you couldn't have more than the two pieces issued ( plus a beach towel -- had any been available !! ) . Ridiculous.! 3. Internet access via purchased access card ( 2 pesos for 1 hour ) was very unreliable and only usable when within 75' of the lobby desk. If one lost the connection while surfing or e-mailing, you couldn't sign off so the provider "burned" the balance of your hour! 4. Tried to make coffee in our room on our second morning- no coffee had been left. Had coffee sent in that day but next morning we found that the coffeemaker didn't work anyway. Got a new machine that day on on our fourth morning finally had coffee in our room. The good versus the bad. Too bad such a great resort is so hampered by inefficient operations. Would I go back to Cuba ?? My answer is that it would certainly be too cold there because by the time I considered returning, H--- would have frozen over. There are hundreds of resorts in the Caribbean ( Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Lucia etc,) where one wouldn't have all those hassles to contend with.

No body towels in the room...or if there are they were ripped...no beach towels available daily...waiting time for transportation...place is too big...service is limited...calling customer service all the time to fix different issue...not happy at all....

the hotel was very nice and new looking and large. the pool was much larger than it appeared in pictures. the beach was absolutely beautiful but was rocky at the entrance. water shoes would be a benefit. there were plenty of huts available to sit in the shade both at the beach and the pool. the buffet was ok but the a la carte resteraunts were fabulous and a must for the best dining experience. the 24 hour snack bar needed MUCH improvement as it was VERY slow and seemed to run out of things that [... read more] they didn't tell you was no longer available until after you waited 30 to 60 minutes :-( the shower needed fixing upon arrival and it was fixed right away and we were compensated with a no charge late check out which worked in our favour having a late flight. American money is not needed here you must use Cuban currency. we were able to exchange our money at the hotel but wouldn't have bothered with getting american money at the bank before we went. the hotel has great potential they just need to work out some of the service glitches expected of a new establishment.

The resort was a close drive from the airport (15 min). They take a bit of time to check you in but the rooms are nice. We had some issues with the room which the customer service team resolved the next day. They even gave us a free extended check-out until 4pm which would cost about $30 CDN. The resort is very large. It has only been running since January 2015 so there are a few kinks with service but generally good. Many buildings were not open yet as they were still under construction. The be [... read more]ach was beautiful. In some areas there were a lot of rocks. Lots of shaded areas were provided at the beach as well as the pools. (Lots of pool areas). One side of the resort had a pool equal in size to the other that was not even being used. I think because it was summer and low numbers? The staff are all good natured and willing to help out. The only problem we encountered was at the Hidro snack bar (a 24 hr restaurant). The service was very slow depending on where you sat. On our last day we tried to order a burger and a sandwhich at the only place you could get food at the time - the buffet was closed. We told them upon ordering that we were leaving for the airport and had to hurry. They had many staff but they took over an hour. We had to wrap it up but almost walked out. The manager asked if everything was good but did not understand and left smiling as if all was perfect. The scenery is beautiful. Although they have excursions you can visit a small area on the resort that has vendors - like a market. They also have a bowling alley and any shows at night. Live entertainment in the main lobby after dinner too. A spa is available at an extra charge. You can go into town for about 90 Cuban Pesos and tour on your own. We took a walk on the beach to a point toward the right (east) and swam in some bigger waves, saw some tropical fish and even a dolphin about 25 meters away. We heard from some others that went west on the beach, that there were some sting rays that could be seen. The beach was sandy and shallow. Quite warm but still refreshing. They also offer free catamaran rides and paddle boats and kayaks. Overall a beautiful place for a vacation!
