Melia Jardines del Rey: Great value for the money.

Excellent staff. Great beach. Newer resort. Plenty of food. Enjoyed the pool area tremendously. Big 5 star rooms. Lots to do inside resort with enough facilities for everyone in the family. Shows are ok. Wonderful experience.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Fantastic Resort! Highly recommended!

This hotel was beautiful with a stunning view off the balcony! The staff were amazing and worked extremely hard. The pool bar had great piña colada's and beer. We went to two A La Carte Restaurants Cuban and Italian which were both fantastic! The Cuban restaurant was overlooking the ocean and the window we opened to allow a nice breeze inside. The buffets had a good selection of fresh food. The beach was phenomenal and the sand was like fine powder with shallow water making it a perfect destina [... read more]tion for families with little youngsters. Highly recommended and my mom and I will be returning in the future!

Melia Las Dunas: Nicest beachest in the world!

The beaches are beautiful and the ocean views are breathtaking. The hotel has very nice pools as well and the en carte restaurants have great food. Not so much the ones at the buffet. The rooms are very clean and the service is impeccable. 10/10 would come back.

Sol Varadero Beach: This hotel was disappointment

I am not a picky traveler. I've been many times to Cuba and i do not have very high expectations in terms of service.The reason I keep going back to Cuba are beautiful beaches, nice people and of course you would expect some level of decency from the hotel rated as 3.5 start hotel. Sol Sirenas Coral is rated as 3.5, in reality should be max 2. Hotel buildings are quite run down and they do not provide services they promise. We stayed there 7 days and we were not provided with beach towels. The r [... read more]oom was not very clean and the towels in the room looked so bad that we were not sure if they are stained or maid did not replace them. Lunch and dinner food was same, it literally did not change for 7 days.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good resort

Beautiful resort, mostly friendly people, clean, hardworking staff, great bars, great pool, rooms starting to show a little wear and tear, invonsistent maid service, food was great variety but there was a lit of salt, meat and fried food. They fid the best they coukd with the resources the country has. Beautiful restaurants and food there. Shows need work- three were cancelled and a dj brought in which was disappointing. Melia Jardines del Rey: Wonderful Resort....

This resort is great, I don't understand why people had bad reviews. Beautiful grounds, great staff who were always helpful, nice rooms, huge pools. Food was really good as well. Great spot for our family vacation. Beach is beautiful and yes there are spots with rock coverage - bring water shoes.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Exceptional Royal Service

We booked our 8 day vacation through Trip Central and that was smooth and without a hitch. We flew Cubana Air, which could do with a upgrade/refresh. Paradisus Rio De Oro was a disappointment, moreso due to the reconstruction of pool and pool restaurant and area. There had been no rain for 6 months and so the resort was dry and not tropical as you would expect. There were only a handful of people there, which made it seem like a ghost town. However the staff were incredibly wonderful and welcomi [... read more]ng. We upgraded to Royal Service, which was affordable due to the resort credits and then it was like being in paradise! Loved the second floor room overlooking the ocean, the huge bathroom and outdoor shower; butler service; three tiered infinity pool and the service was exceptional. The snorkeling is awesome as it the beach and the beach bar service. We were fortunate we were able to upgrade and really enjoyed our vacation.

Melia Las Dunas: resort rating

not a 4.5 star resort as has been advertized, but 3 maybe 3.5. The ocean the best, but service was very poor, the worst so far ( out of my 9 trips to the Caribbean, 4 to Cuba alone ). buffet was smelly and not clean dishes, rooms were not dusted, towels were not changed daily, etc.

Melia Las Dunas: Average

The hotel was unbelievably long and exhausting to navigate. They actually had buggies driven by hotel staff to take guests from one place to another. The snack bars closed at 5 every day which left you with no choice but to go to the buffet for dinner ; which meant a walk of more than 10 minutes depending on where your bungalow was. The food was average. The specialty restaurants were better. The beach amazing but again a long walk in the heat to get to. Melia Las Antillas: Great resort for couples

If your traveling as a couple, this is the resort. However if your looking to party and the night life, I would not recommended it. The beach was amazing, the rooms were clean, and best of all, the food was amazing for Cuba.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing,

This was our first trip to Cuba and we were blown away with the resort, the people and the service. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and were hesitant about Cuba but are thrilled we decided to go. The resort is a short drive from the airport (15 minutes) and we were worried our room wouldn't be ready since we arrived at 10 am.check in took 5 minutes and we were in our room 10 minutes later, and on the beach right after that. Our meal at the Cuban restaurant was not that good but the view was nice. The staff are incredible and will bend over backwards to make sure your vacation is perfect!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering Cuba. We will be going back

Tryp Cayo Coco: Beautiful beach very nice people

Went to the Tryp Resort for 1 week in August. The grounds were kept clean the rooms were kept clean, however, the room I was given initially was awful cosmetically speaking. I was actually offended that I paid for a vacation and was given such a room. Once I complained it was changed the next morning. As well there was no one to help us with our luggage and we had to walk far to get to our room that was unacceptable not a good start to a vacation. A couple ladies at the front desk were rude and not helpful not a good impression for reception. It appeared that if you did not speak Spanish you were not treated the same. But the beach was absolutely beautiful.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Lovely stay

Nice hotel, small buffet but food was good. Room was beautiful and very spacious. Staff was friendly. Drinks were hit or miss depends who was making them. Entertainment was super, they had live bands, beach party and choreography was nice. A la carte restaurants were awesome! (Chinese and Japanese) All in all a lovely getaway.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Not what we expected!

No body towels in the room...or if there are they were ripped...no beach towels available daily...waiting time for transportation...place is too big...service is limited...calling customer service all the time to fix different issue...not happy at all....

Melia Jardines del Rey: great get away

the hotel was very nice and new looking and large. the pool was much larger than it appeared in pictures. the beach was absolutely beautiful but was rocky at the entrance. water shoes would be a benefit. there were plenty of huts available to sit in the shade both at the beach and the pool. the buffet was ok but the a la carte resteraunts were fabulous and a must for the best dining experience. the 24 hour snack bar needed MUCH improvement as it was VERY slow and seemed to run out of things that [... read more] they didn't tell you was no longer available until after you waited 30 to 60 minutes :-( the shower needed fixing upon arrival and it was fixed right away and we were compensated with a no charge late check out which worked in our favour having a late flight. American money is not needed here you must use Cuban currency. we were able to exchange our money at the hotel but wouldn't have bothered with getting american money at the bank before we went. the hotel has great potential they just need to work out some of the service glitches expected of a new establishment.

Melia Buenavista: Amazing Time !

Melia Buenavista is hands down the best resort I have been to. I believe that is meets the expectations of a 5 star resort. The grounds are beautiful, the food was surprisingly good for the bad rap that Cuba gets. I loved the lobster they had at the Italian restaurant. The beaches were breath taking literally unbelievable literally white sand and blue waters. The view alone was breathtaking, along with the comfort of not being on the ggroud level where there tends to be more insects and stuff. The room itself was beautiful. I loved the ourdoor shower, everything was clean and modern. The beds were okay, it didnt beat my pillow top mattress at home but that is understandable. Ohh but the best part is the staff . They were absolutley the best. Our butlers Dymond and Joel were the best! Joel arranged our wake up call for our super early flight , he made sure we had breakfast at 3:30 am. Dymond made sure we had reservations even when we forgot. Honerable mentions include Miguel the barista, our maid lesley.. everyone at this hotel was hardworking and incredibly sweet. I loved every minute of it and would go back in a heart beat. I told everyone I know.

Melia Buenavista: Absolutely Perfect

If you are looking for a low key, restful vacation then this is the place to go.This hotel was absolutely perfect. The resort area is quiet, but the hotel made sure that there were enough activities to keep you occupied. The suites were very nice, especially the balinese shower. The staff was terrific especially our butlers (Joel and Dyami) who took care of things before we even thought about them. Clear beautiful water, clean sand, lots of space. I will definitely be making another trip to this resort.

Sol Varadero Beach: Poor experience...

The resort looks great in the pics, but that is not the case when you arrive.... This particular resort is also attached to a 3 star resort which is very poor condition and staff is poor ( Hard to find any English speaking people..) We were booked to stay at the coral.. which is a 4 star, once we arrived at the resort with the bus from the airport, We were sent away with the bus as the resort was closed!!! sending us to the 3 star resort... Very bad management ..... The very next day were we sup [... read more]pose to meet for our Orientation... which the Swingwing Rep was 1.5hr late! and the resort staff sending us walking between both resort three times!!!.... Wont go back to this resort/resorts...

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good for families and couples

The resort was a close drive from the airport (15 min). They take a bit of time to check you in but the rooms are nice. We had some issues with the room which the customer service team resolved the next day. They even gave us a free extended check-out until 4pm which would cost about $30 CDN. The resort is very large. It has only been running since January 2015 so there are a few kinks with service but generally good. Many buildings were not open yet as they were still under construction. The be [... read more]ach was beautiful. In some areas there were a lot of rocks. Lots of shaded areas were provided at the beach as well as the pools. (Lots of pool areas). One side of the resort had a pool equal in size to the other that was not even being used. I think because it was summer and low numbers? The staff are all good natured and willing to help out. The only problem we encountered was at the Hidro snack bar (a 24 hr restaurant). The service was very slow depending on where you sat. On our last day we tried to order a burger and a sandwhich at the only place you could get food at the time - the buffet was closed. We told them upon ordering that we were leaving for the airport and had to hurry. They had many staff but they took over an hour. We had to wrap it up but almost walked out. The manager asked if everything was good but did not understand and left smiling as if all was perfect. The scenery is beautiful. Although they have excursions you can visit a small area on the resort that has vendors - like a market. They also have a bowling alley and any shows at night. Live entertainment in the main lobby after dinner too. A spa is available at an extra charge. You can go into town for about 90 Cuban Pesos and tour on your own. We took a walk on the beach to a point toward the right (east) and swam in some bigger waves, saw some tropical fish and even a dolphin about 25 meters away. We heard from some others that went west on the beach, that there were some sting rays that could be seen. The beach was sandy and shallow. Quite warm but still refreshing. They also offer free catamaran rides and paddle boats and kayaks. Overall a beautiful place for a vacation!

Melia Jardines del Rey: amazing family experience!

Melia Jardines del Rey was a fantastic choice for our family. The owner sparred no expense in this resort. The lobby was spacious and very attractive and comfortable. People who work there were very helpful. The pools were large and made for kids. I did not have to worry about my kids drowning because there were tons of shallow areas in the pools. The ocean was beautiful but the beach was rocky and you need water shoes to be comfortable.
