Secrets Huatulco: High and lows

So much of this resort was amazing. The few things that were disappointing however really stood out. All inclusive doesn’t include bags. Add $120 per person Food was excellent except for Food allergies were not taken care of. My husband had bathroom issues daily even though we reminded them daily. Glassware was awful, often giving me red wine in a beer or champagne glass. Pool glassware was very old. When pool bar was busy cleaning of glassware was scary to watch. Finally preferred [... read more] was not worth it. Top shelf bar was only in one area and anyone could get it. Covid tests were free but now not needed.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Perfect Resort for a quiet and remote vacation

I will keep it short and point form because I could go on and on about the excellence of this resort. Some have said that it is 'too quiet' and everyone was old and grey. We found a great mix of all. During our week, we met with people literally from all over the world and even a few groups of people travelling/partying together. We were looking for a small and quiet get away, this was exactly what we were looking for. The staff are amazing, very warm and welcoming. Always a smile and an 'Hola'. We chose the Privilege option and suggest it to everyone, the perks are SO worth it! The Junior suite is wonderful with a large and furnished balcony. The bathroom is large with a great rain shower shower 'room'. The room was immaculate as well as all other areas in the resort. There are 6 buildings with rooms located between the lobby and the pool & beach area. The walkway to the pool & beach area is beautiful with the entire resort right in the middle of the jungle. The pool is large as is the beach. The beach was immaculate. A few days there was quite a build up of seaweed but that is not under the control of any of the resorts. They kept on top of it as best the could. WE WILL BE RETURNING!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Meh

I would say 3.5 stars. We went to this resort for March Break and it was OK. We’ve been to better places for sure, we met great people and have a good time because we are able to brush certain things off but we wouldn’t return. FOOD AND DRINKS: First off, nobody mentioned the two closed restaurants which I feel should’ve been mentioned before confirming our trip. The a la cartes weren’t very good except for the Brazilian. The buffet was super repetitive but fine. ENTERTAINMENT: The bars and entertainment ends quite early 12pm for music and 1am for drinks so if you’re wanting to be out and enjoying this isn’t for you. The entertainment was okay, but the team wasn’t lively and charismatic during the day. They aren’t half of what I have experienced in the past as far as creating daytime fun and welcoming atmosphere. WELCOME: The bus ride at 2.5hrs from the airport SUCKED. The welcome wasn’t there. Our first room door didn’t work, we were given a smelly joint room which we denied and were finally given a third one. Rooms are okay but need an update, but we didn’t really care about them. BEACH: You have to take a trolly to the beach. It isnt a walk away. It is small and loaded with rocks in the shoreline. There aren’t many loungers and you are limited to blue chairs whereas other resorts can come over and use our chairs and bar facilities. POOLS: There are two big pools with bars which is great. There’s a third tiny quite pool which was more just a big jacuzzi for anyone wanted alone peaceful time. The pool bar gets busy and it’s hard to get a drink at times. The bars and the pool closed at 6pm which I felt was early and should be more like 7-8pm. OVERALL: The resort was OK but definitely no 5 star. We are pretty easy to please but we were just extra dissapointed after splurging an extra few hundred for a better resort after two crappy years. This is comparable to a 500-700 dollar cheaper resort. I’d say you’re much better off at one of the other two Bahia principe hotels as they’ve been updated and are closer to the beach but we weren’t allowed in them really. Only they were able to use our resort.

Barcelo Huatulco: Barcelo Huatulco

This resort had virtually everything we hoped for in a sunny destination all-inclusive. It was not too large, It was clean, in good repair, casual yet tasteful, well staffed and felt safe. The beach access was close and easy. Loungers and palapas were provided free of charge, you had the choice between full sun exposure and shade around the pool or on the beach. The location was removed from busy roads yet close enough that you could easily explore the town of La Crucecita Central Park which I w [... read more]ould recommend. The Airport was reasonably close too. The beach and ocean floor has nice sand. Ocean water was clean but I would suggest increased level of caution for children & non-swimmers as wave break was right at the shore and undertow strong most days.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: AGING RESORT - EXCELLENT LOCATION

This resort is dated. We had an ocean view room which was amazing for the view not the ammenities. No fridge in room, no booze and we had no hot water all week. The internet wifi was free in our building (#1) but didn't work most of the time we were there. All of the a la cartes were amazing with great service. a la cartes were unlimited and you can book it through the app (wifi not needed). The buffets were ok not amazing. The hotel was not full and not all buffets and a la cartes were [... read more] running. The room was clean, the ocean view room was amazing but not as advertised online. I expected a newer room and this is definetly an older building. The pools were not heated and cool no swim up bar. We spent time off resort and it felt very safe. Many yummy restaurants within walking distance. The beach was beautiful and you can walk for miles. Will go back to this location but not necessarily this resort. All wait staff were friendly and helpful. Front desk staff were not overly helpful or forthcoming with information.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Its been better but still a great place!

We stayed March 9 - 16 , 2022. My 14 yo son and I. Negatives were that my room key kept having to be reprogrammed (6 times!), the buffet and restaurant selection was a bit bigger in previous times ( this was my 3rd stay in 14 years). Oddly, the bacon in the breakfast buffet was super super salty, so much that I thought it was a tactic so they wouldn't go through so much. Positives far outweigh the negatives, its a beautiful resort , very friend staff, high quality theatres at night (big shout [... read more] out to Michael Jackson show and Lossana!!), great beach, ice cold beer and great service! The resort is just the right size, not too big and not too small, far enough out of town but not too far, I'll be back for sure.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Absolutely Fabulous Resort

This was our 3rd time at this resort and we loved it so much. The staff are all amazing....especially Orlando in the Lobby Bar and Daniela in tge Prestige office. The resort was clean....inside and out and the food was amazing

Allegro Playacar: Cannot recommend this resort.

Would not go back. Tried to book another hotel but no luck. We asked to move to another hotel but they would not help us. Everything was a hassle. Rooms were dismal. AC worked intermently and very very loud. Bathroom smelled like sewer. My daughter got sick. No room service. Food just ok. Al a carte was only available to a small number of people. Had to stand in a long line to try and book. We had no luck. No water activities. Lobby very tired. Beach was beautiful.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Beyond a five star

Exquisite food, wonderful hotel employees, and two amazing pools made our stay at this adults-only resort an absolute dream. The resort is incredibly clean, with no shortage of things to do and no skimping on food or drinks. We would definitely return. We would also highly recommend the Rio Secreto as a side trip. It was mind-blowing!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great adult only resort!

We loved this resort, especially our swim up room. We were situated in room 4022 which was far enough away from the loud main party pool, but close enough to everything else. This is a smaller resort, with everything is within 5 minutes walking distance, which we loved. The restaurants were really great, especially the Italian one, and we liked that reservations were not required. The beach towels are replaced each day in your room. What's good about that is you know where to find them. [... read more] What's bad about that is that you are dependent on the cleaning staff to deliver them. We would often go and find them to exchange our wet towels the next day for clean ones. I would have preferred to have a central place to pick up towels instead. The beach isn't the nicest we've been to (compared to Varadero or Punta Cana). The sand is lovely but the beach is rocky and full of seaweed. We always went to the next door beach (sister resort) because it was nicer. This is literally just a minute walk so not a huge deal. I suggest bring water shoes though because there are rocks in the water.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Above expectation

We liked it though the resort is a little bit too far from Cancun Airport. Walking distance to Playa Del Carmen. I would definitely go again. The drinks at the bar are limited to local brands, some of them poor quality. To enjoy a good drink you have to be a "Viva member"

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Good resort

It is a beautiful resort, with many positives, but also with room for improvements. The grounds are beautiful, well kept, very clean and orderly. Room cleaning was perfect, and always on time. Water bottles were replenished almost every day. There are no entrance hangers (for jackets), towel hangers in the bathroom and tissues in the room. We opted and payed for a Privileged package, but were not accommodated in the Privileged building. Other than a bar somewhat closer to one of the beaches and access to an a-la-carte restaurant, there were no "privileges'". Buffet restaurant: perfect. Amazing food, clean, great service. A-la-carte restaurants are good, except the Steakhouse - which should be closed. It is a joke. The restaurant management thinks they can sell anything to anyone. The servers are borderline rude and lacking minimal common sense for serving at a table. The rent-a-car in the hotel is useless, as it is impossible to rent a car for a full day since the staff has 9:00AM - 3:00 PM schedule. Very rude personnel. Covid: Staff wore masks all the time, without exception. Patrons were asked to keep masks inside the restaurant when walking. This was a bit overkill, as nowhere else were masks required. No other Covid restrictions were implemented. This was understandable, as countries are opening up, and lifting restrictions at this point. Overall good experience.

Atelier Playa Mujeres: Atelier great resort

The Atelier Playa Mujeres might be the nicest resort in the Caribbean, I have stayed at several of the higher end resorts in Mexico and other island locations Atelier was the nicest. For sure the food was a step above, the breakfast buffet was great with lots of options and the dinner restaurants were all great. We ate at all of them and were not disappointed by any of them, they were all great in there own way and uniquely different. The staff and service at this resort are great the Inspira beach area staff were a pleasure to deal with always available for drinks, food or to help you find a relaxing spot. Special shout out to Sergio, Gerardo, and Carlos who took care of us on the beach each day and also Roberto (hope I remembered the name correctly) in the Italian restaurant a real professional waiter for sure. There are so many others I could name, but I can’t remember them all let’s just say all staff did a great job. This resort is fairly new two years old it is spotless, the rooms are big the bathroom we had was huge and well appointed. The pool and beach area’s are large with plenty of seating we could always find a place to relax. There are lots of bar’s to get a drink from so you seldom had to wait if you did go to the bar the servers made this just a reason to go for a stroll they were always there when needed. Covid procedures are in place but not pushed to an uncomfortable level. We where here to try and forget two years of Covid and with everyone vaccinated and all staff masked at all times it really was not a concern, came home Covid free. I highly recommend this resort and would definitely return in the future.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great Vacation Getaway

We've been on vacations to Mexico but this was our first time staying in Cozumel. In summary, we were not disappointed. The Iberostar property is clean, has very friendly staff and well maintained. Our room was on the second level of one of the cottages and although a bit small, was very clean and well appointed. We ate at all the restaurants and found to be fresh and delicious. Our daughter is vegetarian and had no trouble finding items to eat. The only minor criticism that I can mention is th [... read more]at some buffet items were sometimes a bit slow to be replenished but this happened only a few times. We never had an issue getting loungers on the beach although the finding a vacant pair around the pool after lunch was a challenge. Evening entertainment was fun and took place both in the main lobby followed by a variety of live shows in the open air theatre. We are a family of divers and enjoyed the onsite Dressel Dive shop. Its easy to see why Cozumel is such a popular scuba location. The beach was the only disappointment. Although clean and sandy, you'll need beach shoes to save your feet from the rocks when entering the water. Snorkelling at the resort was sub-par with the only fish found by the boat dock. That said, the beach itself is very clean and suitable for shoreline walks. We'd recommend this resort to our friends and family.

Krystal Ixtapa: Great resort

I loved everything about this resort, (a la cartes, all staff, beach, pool, food was good. The only things I would change is I would like a fridge in the room, and a large lobby bar for people to mingle and congregate around! Also getting ice was sometimes a pain in the butt. Other than that it was a great and enjoyable stay!

Riu Dunamar: Amazing resort

Hotel very nice and clean Food always fresh staff very friendly beach nice and clean We have very nice weather But still windy yellow and red flag every day i heard it's normal for Cancun all of that 4.5. No problem they order taxi to airport and tools us sorry we will pay for But after all I pay 110 us dollars and guys from sunwing at the airport was very wondering And told me we can do nothing I will try to claim at least taxi. Don't know story about environment fees i been few times in Mexico never pay fees at the hotel

Riu Lupita: Awesome place!

I just returned from a week at RIU LUPITA, and had an amazing time. I took my mom for her 75th birthday, and even she had a great time!! I definitely recommend going to the cenotes, it’s worth the money. And the best bartender (Santos) works there. The staff is friendly, hard working and there to please. We are already planning on going back for 2 weeks.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great resort!

We just returned from 7 days at the Platinum Yucatan Princess (March 5-12). We have travelled often to many Caribbean resorts but had no expectations when we arrived as the reviews were all over the map. The Pros: food, rooms and service were outstanding. Cons: towel service non-existent (had to go to the sister hotel to get clean towels) and the pool is no where near the beach. All in all we had a great week.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

Everything was great and we really enjoyed are stay at this resort. Will likely return in the future. However we were disappointed on the side trip to Cosamal. There was too much time traveling and little to see there

Dreams Huatulco: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE COMING TO HUATULCO

Wow! Super excited to be able to travel once again after 2 years. This was our 3rd trip to Huatulco + our 3rd stay at Dreams. As always we had the best time. The weather was super hot as always + the resort amazing. We choose Dreams for the location right on the water, the rooms, the staff, the a la carte restaurants where you don't need a reservation + so much more. We talked at length to some of the management regarding their challenges the last 24 months (like we all have experienced).  [... read more]They had to lay off much of their staff, lost other experienced people + have just started getting busy again the last couple months. With that, the food wasn't as great as it had been pre-covid but we have such compassion + understanding that they too are trying to get back to "normal." For that reason, it will be our place to go again next year!!
