Occidental Caribe: Happy times

I felt this place was great. We upgraded to premium. It was nice. The place was beautiful and the people were great. Had an amazing time. We spoke with the reception and they helped us in ever way we needed. Juan was perfect. So was all the reception staff. When we booked our excursion we didn’t the the hotel sending us to the island as it was boring after the catamaran. I think the language barrier was a problem. I went back to speak with them because there was no snorkelling which is what we [... read more] wanted with it. Because of the issues they gave us some souvenirs to take home. We booked our other two excursions (pirate adventure and shark swimming) with Randy at the water sport shack. He was AMAZING. As was the excursions. WOW. I SWAM WITH SHARKS AND STINGRAYS. GO DO IT. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great people - resort needs work

At first glance Cofresi Palm Beach Resort looks great. The lobby provides a grand entrance that, unfortunately, the rest of the hotel doesn't live up to. Our rooms were OK. They were kept clean but the toilet had hot water and the shower, for the most part, had only hot or only cold water. Two of our seven nights were disturbed by drunken singing and yelling. The yelling continued for over two hours, reverberating off the concrete buildings. Another night was disturbed by a car alarm goin [... read more]g off in the parking lot, very close to our building, that was only resolved by the battery in the car dying. The food was generally good and we enjoyed the non-buffet restaurants. The servers were excellent - attentive, friendly and fast. The Pearl buffet can only be reached by stairs - we saw many older people struggling to get around the resort. On our last morning my friend, who we were travelling with, felt unwell and needed a glass of water or juice (she'd just thrown up) before we got on the bus to travel to the airport. I went to the closest bar but the bartender told me he was unable to serve me as he didn't officially open till 10am. Rule-keeping before compassionate customer service is always irritating.

Playabachata Hotel: Ok resort...

Pros: Good food, clean pools and public washrooms and nice beach Cons: uncomfortable beds and pillows, small/ dated bathrooms (no towels some days), unfriendly staff and most did not understand English, bugs in rooms

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Hit and Miss- Wouldn't Recommend

We travelled to Dreams La Romana for 7 days with 3 adults and 2 children. We have travelled to Dreams Tulum, Mexico multiple times and were expecting a similar experience but sadly we were disappointed. The food was a 3 star at best. The children were happy but for the adults, it was not comparable to Dreams Tulum. This was both for the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Very disappointing Service was a definite hit and miss. Some staff members were pleasant while others were straight up r [... read more]ude and unfriendly. Rooms were also a hit and miss. We needed to change one of our two rooms because the smell of sewage was outrageous. There is definite signs of wear and tear that could use updating. Again, housekeeping was not consistent. The beach was quite busy and as with most resorts, best to wake up early to snag a chair. The sand was soft but quite a drop off once you get in the water. Many days the waves were so strong that they knocked grown adults off their feet. The resort should monitor water conditions more closely. We stayed at the pool for the most part. Overall, we would rate this hotel at a 3.5 star and would NOT recommend this to any friends or family.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Keep expectations low

I would describe this resort as adequate. There are a couple of large pools and a beach. The food is okay. However, I would certainly not expect luxury. The facilities are very old and worn. It was very crowded in mid February and it impossible to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants. By 8am most pool chairs and beach umbrellas were "reserved" but remained unoccupied until afternoon. The Wifi is very slow and patchy and costs $35 USD per week per device outside one public area. The [... read more]re isn't much in the way of entertainment and the most of the staff don't seem particularly interested in their jobs-- expect long lines at reception.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: My experience

Clean, well kept resort. Average room for resorts. Food was well prepared and good variety, even for vegetarians or those with limited diets. Tasty, hot meals. Specialty restaurants were good, especially the Octopus ! That is not to be missed. We took advantage of the Vintage Club with our upgrade. They were excellent to deal with, lattes, bar, canapés, and additional features. Entertainment was o.k with two special shows. I’d definitely go back there.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful Resort, clean and well kept.

The Resort was well kept and beautiful, very clean, the staff was friendly and the beach was well kept. Some work could be done with the food and evening entertainment. The food was pretty much the same with every meal and the evening entertainment was nothing exciting. Our Sunwing Agent was amazing and was very accommodating. Thanks Bernie for all your help. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: We love this resort

The best thing about the resort is the number of elements that are included The resort has everything - fantastic beach, great pools, fun poolside activities, sports and games, water park, nice excursions, tennis courts including pickle ball, spa, gym, soccer field, casino, disco, 5 nice restaurants plus the bonus wine cellars, excellent bars including the sports bar, great buffet and balcony overlooking pool and beach, hot tubs on room balconies, lobby shops, great guest services, high quality [... read more] rooms, attentive maid service, helpful transportation and shuttles on site and the crowning touch - Pete Dye golf course, clubhouse and practice area with pro shop and reatuarant Add to this the friendly and efficient staff and you are guaranteed a great holiday At the price it is almost impossible to beat in my opinion

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: A great place to stay

Room was nice and clean, everything worked. Was happy with the hot water, was nice to be able to take a decent shower without it running cold. The cleaning ladies did a great job, stocked our mini fridge every day. All the staff were very friendly. Pool was beautiful, lots of pool floats for guests to use. Grounds were well kept, lots of palm trees and shrubs. Food was good, room service was also fantastic. No long wait times and food was good. Lots of variety to choose from at the restaurant [... read more]s. The beach also beautiful, lots of chairs and bali beds. The only downside was we only had Canadian currency, couldn't exchange at hotel, and everything was priced in American dollars. A bag of cheesies was 8.00 US...everything was so expensive. I know resorts mark up items but that was crazy. A 20 pack of cigs was 10.00 US, not any cheaper than buying in Canada. Other than that, there were vendors around a lot, trying to sell you stuff, even the resort itself tried to sell us a membership for around 1500 US....the always trying to sell things was a bit annoying, and some are pushy

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great Resort

Cofresi is a clean, large resort with lots to do. We also had access to the neighboring Tropical's buffet and pool. The weather and food was great. Felt safe and taken care of. This was our 2nd time there and we'll most likely do a 3rd.

Playabachata Hotel: Good resort

This resort was quite nice. The beach is beautiful and quite large. The pools have variety and although are a little older, are still nice and the entertainment group is so so fun. The food is not bad, but there is not a ton of variety so it can get a little old after a while. Rooms are a bit run down but they have everything you need and are clean. Amazing staff, and overall a really fun time.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Amazing Resort!

We just came back from our week vacation in Majestic Mirage, which is our 2nd time there as we had to go back! Accommodation is great, we love the space, units are very big, living area and bedroom have a sliding door for privacy which works out great for a family. And then there is that huge terrace with a jacuzzi. Food is very good, we love a la carte restaurants where you don't need to make a reservation, as we don't like to be on schedule. Entertainment was 5+ stars, excellent shows with gre [... read more]at singers and dancers and then there was also their "animation" team that mingled with us, especially Adeli (Mickey Mouse) who was teaching our daughter Spanish dances, he was so kind! No seaweed this time of year, but it was a little bit too windy for us. The only complain is room service - ladies were not paying attention to what to replenish, so I had to go hunting for shampoo, conditioner...next time I will bring my own and be worry-free. And they don't speak English so make sure you know Spanish word for it. The thing that we also love is a little piazza that adds a special flare, it feels like you are in a small Spanish town. They set up buffet there one night in the week for the Dominican fiesta which was lots of fun. We also walked to other sister hotels - Elegance and Colonial, and that felt great as you are not confined in one place. We would definitely recommend this resort!

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Paradise

I don't even know where to begin. The entire experience at Dreams was incredible. The grounds were beautiful and so was the room. The staff was exceptional and the food and drinks were delicious. I couldn't have asked for anything more. If you book with them you won't regret it.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Grand Bahia Principe EL Portillo

Great hotel. Most staff very friendly and accommodating. Great beach walk for miles snd right in town if your up to an hour sand beach walk. Great food and each night a little change into a theme night. Dominican, Mexicsn etc... Lots of lawn chairs but of course prime dpots are get fown earlier than later. Will return.....

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Good Option

Good friendly service by all. Decent food for the level of resort. Clean grounds. Best asset of this resort is the beach. Gorgeous beach that goes on forever. Drinks are mediocre quality. Every Evening they had live music, which was nice to unwind to.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome resort

We had an awesome time here. Room had everything we needed, the food was good, entertainment was good, beach was good, and we lucked out with perfect weather ! Would recommend this place, great value, bang for your buck!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful Resort

The grounds are lovely. Pools are clean. Restaurants are delicious. Staff is exceptional!!! The beach was beautiful. The sand Was raked every morning The ocean water was turquoise. Fun trip with my son and I.

Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio: Worst resort ever!

Dirty hotel rooms, unprofessional staff, food was alright, service was horrible no towels were provided and ran out of beach towels, this hotel is falsely advertised as a 4-star but it’s actually a one star.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Nice resort

This is a very nice resort, with a beautiful beach. The rooms are ok, bed was comfortable good pressure in the shower. Food is ok, but buffet staff are very unorganized and they are always running out of dishes and glasses. I don’t think it there fault. They are under staffed in dinning room. We still had a good time, I would go back.

Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Great time!!

This was our 3rd time to Punta Cana and our first stay at a Royalton. Check in was smooth, our room was clean and quiet. The beach is beautiful and the pools were refreshing. Foodvwas delicious. The only negatives were a few little things that with a little attention, could easily be fixed. There needs to be management overseeing things, ensuring that bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper, that bars are fully stocked so guests can have the drinks of their choice. Hot water for tea served in [... read more] a stainless steel pot, rather than servers pouring hot water in a cup and adding the milk. Replace their acrylic glassware. They're cracked and foggy...worn out. This resort needs to step up a little to continue to be a luxury resort.
