Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Don't waste your hard earned money

Wait staff were rude (not all, but about 85%) like we were bothering them. Buffett was the same every day with flies all over the food, heard a lot of people were getting sick from this. Beach was nice and pool, but not a 5 star at all!!

My family enjoyed the experience. Half the family are scuba divers that the diving was great fun. Other half were beach and pool volleyball. Took hour long walks on beach and area with whole family. Family being quite active, were amazed by the abundance of food and the great atmosphere with it; ate a fair share!! I failed to mention in booking my oldest daughter is tall and her son is also at 6’2” and where given a room of a single standard bed for both. I switched with them for my single que [... read more]en bed. Being the busy holiday season, there wasn’t any individual bed’s available. It didn’t detract from having a great time there! Coming home was a bit of a challenge, my boarding pass was on standby, and told me no seat available. My oldest daughter suggested they help or the other 5 members of my family would need to be removed from the plane. Fortunately I got the very last seat, that normally used by flight attendants. Since all worked out, these aren’t complaints, but notes for future planning when bringing the whole family.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Fantastic vacation

Jolly Beach was a great small resort. It had everything you need. Beach and pools were fantastic. Rooms were small and simple, you don’t spend much time there anyway. Our room was cleaned on day 6 of our 7 day stay, you could request a different day or more frequent but we didn’t know beforehand. The buffet features a different menu each night, and the food was good quality. There was only 1 table service restaurant, Italian which rotated 3 menus. Reservations needed to be made day of, and if yo [... read more]u were not at the desk before 7:30am you would not get a table. Drink and poolside BBQ service was slow. No poolside service. We needed to-return our own dirty plates and cups to keep our area clean and free from birds and bugs. Security kept way unwanted public beach visitors. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Grocery store nearby and a few other restaurants. Island was very safe and we often walked around outside of the resort. Overall not a 5 star by any means, but we knew that going in. Great people and fantastic site, would definitely go back.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Oldie but a Goodie!

We love this place. The rooms are old and dated but they all face the ocean or pool. The buffet is a bit repetitive at times, but you will not starve. The long bar is the highlight! You will always make friends and have an awesome time. The best part is the beach! It’s spectacular!

Pineapple Beach Club: Pineapple Beach Club, Antigua

First of, Shannon is an amazing travel agent - she is very helpful and knows what we are looking for. The Pineapple Beach Club was amazing - great food, beach was amazing (Atlantic Ocean), small resort, not too big, no children and, above all, the staff were awesome. We had a marvellous time - ticked off all the boxes.. We were there for Xmas and what a blast that was.. I cannot get over the quality, variety and quantity of food available.. was scrumptious! Thank you Shannon!

Galley Bay Resort and Spa: We love it here

Galley Bay Resort never disappoints. This was our 5th visit but the first time being there at Christmas time. The wonderful staff went all out to bring us a Christmas Caribbean style. The light displays were stunning. I especially liked Santa and his reindeer on the sugar mill. The decorations were beautiful and we appreciated all of the traditional foods. Pineapple Beach Club: A lovely time at Pineapple Beach Club, Antigua

Just came back from Pineapple Beach Club where we spent 10 days. We loved the atmosphere of PBC, very chill! The resort is quiet with no loud thumping music but rather a very relaxed atmosphere throughout the resort. Even in the evenings, there was some simple entertainment, and it was leading in to Christmas so much of the themes were related to that. But the entertainment shut down around 11pm, there were only a few times that we made it that far! The resort was recently renovated (some roo [... read more]ms) and everything was clearly given a fresh coat of paint and sprucing up. The resort was always clean and this included the washrooms by the pools, in the lobby etc. We found the service very good with only a few exceptions. We did voice our concerns and it was clear that our concerns were taken seriously. This is not a place where waiters come around and serve by the pools (maybe once a day) but we didn't mind this. There was always a bar close by and you honestly need to get up out of your chair once in a while and stretch your legs! We spent most of our time at the main pool but did chill at the Turtle Pool a couple of times. Very quiet there but there was still a bar! There was an Aquafitness class each day in the main pool which I took part in almost every day. We had an Oceanview room which meant an upward climb (path or stairs) to our rooms but we used that as a way of knowing we were getting our exercise (~65 years old). If you have mobility issues, these are not the rooms for you. Our room was quite large and simply but tastefully appointed. If we had a complaint, and we knew this before we arrived, is the lack of bottled water in the room/fridge. We found out part way through our time that for $70, you could get a (one-time?) allotment of soft drinks, one bottle each of red and white wine and water. We had brought water bottles down with us and we filled up from the ice water containers at the bars before we headed up to our room but it still was a bit of a nuisance. We had no issues drinking the water and my husband also drank water from the tap. There was never a time where we found a single tap, toilet or anything out of order. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but it wasn't terrible. We enjoyed the food. You could always find something at the buffet. We did go to the Outhouse for lunch (loved it!) and the Pineapple Grill and Chef Pietro a la cartes once each. Portion sizes at the a la cartes are smallish but that's not unusual. If we were hungry after, we dropped in at the buffet for an extra something. We did not try the Orchid. The staff at PBC were lovely. All very polite and friendly, too many to try and name them all! But thank you all for your welcoming spirit and great service. We like a good beach walk so this beach was a bit short for us. However, the views were lovely as they were from our Oceanview room and the Outhouse! We did scope out the PickleBall and tennis courts and also the gym (which seemed well equipped) but did not make use of them. Antigua is a relatively expensive destination from Canada but the price point for PBC is better than some of the more well known chains. For our budget, this made it possible to give Antigua a try, and so from this perspective, it was fairly good value. This resort is not posh, but we loved it for its simplicity and chill environment. It clearly invites similar minded guests, many of whom return there many times.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Stunning location

This resort is nestled away in its own little cove, making it the perfect getaway. Hotel was clean and staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Food was amazing, varied and plentiful. Beach was amazing. I didn’t know such a beautiful beach actually existed! At the end of the beach is an old fortress you can climb for spectacular views. Lots of activities on site. Can’t say enough about this wonderful resort!

Pineapple Beach Club: Favourite Resort

Returned to Pineapple after a 7 year break vacationing in Mexico and Dominican Republic. So glad I did. The resort is just the perfect size and has a beautiful beach for swimming and laying about. I love that you can eat and drink next to that beautiful ocean. There is always a breeze so none of the oppressive humidity common in other vacation spots. I also love that you can snorkel off the beach and take Hobie cats for a sail. We stayed in a Pool Terrace room which was just fine. Close to e [... read more]verything. My only complaint is that pool waterfall is too noisy for an enclosed space and don’t book these rooms if you aren’t used to sharing a queen bed! All the staff are great and the food is good especially the Outhouse BBQ and the snack bar pizza.

Sandals Grande Antigua: Antigua Resort

Beautiful location and beach. We had a newly renovated room in the sunset bluff area which I highly recommend. Service was great but the food was fair. Airport experience was not the best, I think they need to upgrade their airport.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Nice trip

All of the staff at the hotel were great people. With all guest staying in the one building and there being only two elevators. It was a bit of an issue with one being out of order for a couple of days. Also, I noticed when it rained no one was getting the water off of the covered walkways they were just mopped which only made it slippery. Royalton CHIC Antigua: Disappointing Experience Overall

I checked out on November 29th and still have not received my deposit refund as of December 8th, which is very disappointing. Room service was frustrating orders were often incorrect or missing items. Drinks, food, or even simple items like lemons and limes were sometimes out of stock and not replenished promptly, sometimes not even the same day. In-room towels were also an issue; when requested, they often did not arrive the same day. Most of the time, it was unclear what was happening, and the weekly entertainment schedule was not updated on the app. On the positive side, the restaurant service staff were nice and friendly, and the food itself was good. However, the buffet was poor, and at times the food was cold at the buffet. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations, especially given the delays with the deposit refund and recurring service issues.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great resort

After seeing many mixed reviews, we nervously booked this resort. I’m glad we did! The beach and pools were great. The food was good. For the most part the staff was friendly. We upgraded to diamond club for the room location (beach front), what a view! Pescari restaurant was amazing.

The food on the result did not meet the other standards of the royalty hotal The service was awful on the beach.If you were a young girl of any origin, you were served in order for me to get served.I had to call them over.

Loved the beach and setup. If you want to relax with great views and people this is your place restaurants were good but the buffet could use some help with more selection but good. Very clean and staff were great not sure it’s worth upgrading for the price

Hotel was quiet and location was amazing. Close to town to do shopping but far enough away to not be bothered by anyone. Local vendors were respectful and very accomodating. Lots of day trip options and beach activities available on site. Food was good but could only book two days in advance and time slots were limited. Staff were great and would definitely visit again.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: JUST OK!

First off our WestJet flight was delayed, then when we arrived there was no bus to take us to the resort. The WestJet team was VERY unorganized! Finally after waiting and complaining for an hour with a little baby, a random airport bus driver told us to come with her and took us to our resort. She definitely saved the day! The vibe team was mostly non existent; which was disappointing. They also promised to decorate my daughter’s room that did not happen, even though I provided my own decorations. Stating they were short staffed! Beach and food were great, drinks ok. But most staff (not all) were rude and seemed like they didn’t like their job! Would rate this resort a 6. Would return to Antigua just not Royalton.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Worst Holiday Ever

We had rain 4 to 6 times a day all week, until the tropical depression (Jerry) went through. Prior to Jerry we had water dripping 24 hrs a day in 3 places in the bathroom ceiling. Water was coming through the wall under the bed. We used every towel we had, including loads of beach towels, We could not get anyone to come to our room to change the towels, asked several staff for help. We had to take the wet towels to the front desk each day. Saw the maid once on the day before we left. At on [... read more]e point the water was running down two walls. And the meals were being served in the only restaurant open was the buffet. There were no windows, just netting. The floors were covered in large areas of water. Staff were trying to keep up with the water wearing rubber boots and raincoats. We spoke to several different staff at the front desk unsuccessfully. We had two channels on the TV. I took photos because no one would believe the story. You could not pay me to go back there, it was a horrible experience.
