Excellent Resort

Perfect location on the beach. So many choices for physical activities for all ages. The staff were amazingly supportive & respectful. Wide variety of food choices @ the buffet, but also @ various restaurants.We were a party of 9 4 teenagers & their parents + 2 seniors.

Worst service level - Total waste of money

Let me start with the good points - Royalton Negril has best views swimming pool is facing the carribean sea. That’s the only good point. Service level of the hotel is the worst I have ever seen. We have been going to carribean for last 10 years. Rooms are very outdated. Food is below five star level. Two days in a row we got rotten pasta from Buffett. Waiters and staff are rude and very lazy. Their Al-Carte restaurants are very dirty table mats are filled with stains. And food is worst their. [... read more] I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

Some growing pains

A new resort that has some problems with communication - but make a good attempt to resolve issues. Staff were the friendliest that we have encountered and food was excellent. Issues arose around promotions on the hotel TV that staff were unaware of, difficulty booking large group for dinner, special services, loungers reserved and cabana rentals.

Beautiful resort, lovely beach

The hotel was beautiful, the food was very good and the beaches are the nicest we've been to in Jamaica. We spent a day at 7 Mile Beach and the beach at the Royalton Negril is just as nice. We've also been to Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and the beaches here are the nicest we've encountered in Jamaica. The resort was very busy since it was March break but the staff and butlers will "reserve" chairs for you for a tip $$$ - not sure if that's a good thing or bad. (We've also been to the Royalton White Sands and found the food to be better there) Our favourite restaurant was Calypso the West Indian restaurant. The jerk hut, food truck and various beach bars to eat at provided lots of good options if you didn't want to get changed and go inside for lunch at the buffet or the Italian restaurant. Overall an excellent vacation - we reserved two excursions through our Butler (I would suggest upgrading to Diamond Club) and had a great time on both. We did 7 Mile Beach, downtown Negril for a Juici Patty run, and Rick's Cafe one day. We also did YS Falls, Blackriver Safari and Pelican Bar on our other excursion. Make sure to bring cash on excursions, many places do not accept credit card.

Beautiful Resort

Resort was great. It's a 5 star and it showed. Workers very professional and helpful. Truly a calming place to be. The food was great, and there were many options for food. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice 5 star resort in Negril!

Hard to find fault!

Had a swim out room on an end unit near the pool and beach and close to restaurants. The buffet is excellent. We particularly liked the Grazio restaurant near the pool. The only restaurant (other than buffet and fast food at the pool) that is open for lunch or quite good take out pizza. Other restaurants we rate as good. Restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff all very helpful and friendly. The front desk and guest services staff seemed a little officious and arrogant at times. Lots of great memories made

The staff at this hotel were all very kind and hospitable. With just a little respect and 1love the staff were all but willing to do anything that was needed to make our stay as memorable as possible. Thanks again Royalton Negril

Nice resort but service needs to be improved

fairly new resort with great facilities nice pool but mediocre beach service is not comparable to Mexico and Dominican Republic, probably due to local culture, so don't set your exception too high rented Cabana but was very disappointed by the service as the cooler did not arrive until afternoon and they took it away earlier than supposed to. food at the buffet is good but do not expect much from the restaurants, food truck and jerk bbq station by the pool are decent.

A rare gem that has it all ..if Hip-hop and Rap were banned

This was our 3rd visit to Jamaica and the first in Negril. The reviews for Royalton Negril met our expectations for price, beach, hotel and room comfort & upkeep, food and service. For the first time in a decade we were not disappointed with any of the above! Price was most competitive of the mid-luxury resorts and gave you better value. 2. Speedy reception which actually commenced while on the bus ride to the resort! 3. Great hotel with a fantastic panoramic view of the bay from the huge lounge area on the 1st level. 4. Food is excellent no matter where you go.No reservation is required for the restaurants with exception of Zen (Japanese). Resort even has a Sports bar that serves Pub style food! 5. Our room on level 2 was large, modern and clean with comfortable beds, a Jacuzzi bath and a fantastic view of the bay! 6. White sand beach along the entire bay. Swim all day - No low tide effect - absolute heaven!! 7. Nexus Tours at the Hotel also does Scuba excursions from the hotel. Although I hope they improve the diving experience with seasoned dive masters. 8. Front desk and customer service was great. 9. My sincere thanks to David (Hideaway Front desk), Madonna (Guest Services), Keisha (Travel Smart) and Oraldo the singing cowboy (Buffet) who in their own way made our stay even better! The staff at all of the restaurants were friendly and always helpful. Cons: Not much was lacking at this resort apart from.. 1. One and a half hour ride to the resort (but worth the travel)! 2. My biggest biff? Gangsta Hip hop and rap music which seemed to make the place cheap and nasty whenever it was being blasted out for long lengths of time from the pool and beach areas!! made us want to take off from the resort. 3. I could not understand why there was VERY little, if any, Reggae or Latin American music both of which genres are well enjoyed by ALL ages!! ....

Well worth it....

Spent 2 weeks (Nov 04-18) at the Royalton for my 50th birthday. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Fantastic resort and the people go out of their way to make sure you're happy. Good snorkelling right off the beach. Saw turtles, Sting rays and Octopi, Squids. All within the buoy line. Great food at all the restaurants, but for some reason my wife and I didn't like Armadillo (tex mex). Everything seemed like it was microwaved and sauce put on top. Best restaurant was Grazie. Oven bak [... read more]ed pizza and good pasta and risotto. You have to wait a bit longer to get your food but they're making it fresh. Make sure you got to the buffet on Mondays for Jamaican night. Food was to die for, especially the lobster tails. Night time entertainment was fun. Beach party on Wednesdays and the Michael Jackson show was great!. Our room location was wasn't the best. We were in Block 7, which is connected to the main lobby above. This location is convenient because it's connected to most everything. If it's raining you don't need to walk outside to eat. You can get to all the restaurants/buffet, and the lounge by going down the elevator. The problem with block 7 is that it faces the bandstand and after the night show they blast music until 1-2am. Good thing i brought my earplugs but if you're a light sleeper this block might not be best for you. Block 3 is the quietest at night (not during the day, it faces the kids/adult pool) but you have to walk to get to everything except for the Grazie restaurant. it's attached to Block 3 One more slight annoyance was the maid service/turn down service. At the latter end of our trip the maid seemed to arrive at the room very late in the afternoon (4pm). We had to turn her away a couple of times because we were getting back from the beach and she was showing up at that time. Also turn down service once came at 10pm. The people are what makes this place special. They work so hard to make things right and I'm sure they're under appreciated for the work that they do. Special thanks goes to Oraldo in the Buffet who made my birthday extra special, Alison, Shanika and Shakila. These 3 ladies made lemonade out of a messed up Birthday dinner. I can't thank them enough for making my night memorable (thanks for the belly laughs Shanika). Our experience there was a memorable one. Will definitely be returning.

Beautiful resort

The resort was amazing,the people running it to the tour operators The room was very clean and the swim-up was super,it was cleaned every morning. The food on the resort was fantastic the steak house hunters was off the hook.The beach was clean water was clear most days,had seaweed one day was cleared up by the afternoon.The ride from the airport was long but we had a driver that knew alot about the island and that made for a short drive. Great Resort for the whole family.

The pool and beach are fabulous and they are only steps away from each other allowing ease of access all day long to both without having to pack up and move each time. The rooms are great and if you upgrade to Diamond Club you will not be disappointed. Our butlers George and Melissa made this vacation one of the best for our family. They professionalism and promptness were on point and the service is at par with Sandals. Pool activities were engaging and fun and always included the kids.

AWESOME RESORT AND STAFF

First off; forget all the negative things you've ever heard about Jamaica and it's people! Their hospitality is second to none! We had the BEST vacation EVER! From check-in to check out, we enjoyed every moment of every day. The resort and staff are top notch; we were upgraded to a swim up room and treated to a birthday spread second to none. The food and restaurants were fantastic.....every meal. JAMAICA NICE! We'll be back for sure!!!!!

Amazing Resort

The resort is very beautiful, every thing is very amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The location is perfect , the beach, room service is very good. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Excellent Resort, Great food and service!!!

Loved the layout of the resort, beach area, pools and dining options were plenty. The steak and the teppanyaki were best of the restaurants and the service was great in all. Buffet has plenty of options

Fantastic

Overall, excellent resort. Staff were very helpful & polite. Beautiful grounds well maintained. Felt very safe. Enjoyed the excursions. Love the daily walk of 7 mile beach. Both room service & different choices of restaurants were great. My travel agent did & awesome job & recommendation for me...amazing.

Beautiful and Classy Resort

This resort has everything to make your stay comfortable and feeling spoiled. Beautifully decorated rooms, amazing food, the staff are welcoming and the most friendly I have experienced. Diamond Club was awesome with our butler Averdan, best butler ever! I would recommend this resort to anyone for an all around positive experience. Beautiful resort & Beach, weak service, below average food

Overall: Royalton Negril is a beautiful place. Walking around, you can truly feel that you are in a luxury resort. Great interior design, quality furniture and décor. The resort is also not very large so its pretty easy to get around. There aren't too many bars open during the day so you would sometimes have to walk a bit to get a drink. There is 1 swimming pool, and 1 splash pad (which is really great for kids), a kids club and a separate teen club. There is also a gym and a spa but I haven [... read more]'t used these services. Where the resort is lacking, is consistent quality service. The hotel staff is always polite and some really care about your vacation experience. At the same time, I was often faced with blunt indifference which considerably ruined our stay. I arrived with my elderly mother and 2 little children (3 and 1 year old). After a very long and difficult road, I was told that our room was supposed to be in front of the evening show area which, of course, is not the ideal when traveling with small children that go to bed early. So I decided to upgrade our room to a more quiet area and a swim up suite. I confirmed with the girl at the reception that we needed a room with 2 beds - no problem! except when we arrived to the room there was only 1 bed and a pull out couch (but I'll get to this in a minute). While still at the reception, I asked for a quick explanation and introduction of the resort, available amenities, restaurants, kids options etc. I was told that the bell boy will explain everything in the room. When we did get to the room, the bell boy said that the information is on their smart TV, which consisted of scanned brochures with lots of small print. It seems that what is a basic service in the most simple hotels, is not available here. you are sent to read brochures on the TV. While its not a big deal, it was the first sign of the kind of service that we will be getting. The room- The room was a beautiful unit with a swim up pool and ocean view. But it only had 1 bed. I completely understand when I book the trip, the hotel may not be able to accommodate everyone's room requests. But when on premises, paying for an upgrade, I would imagine that the reception staff should know that the room they are sending you to, has only 1 bed. My mom slept on the pull out, the kids on the King size bed and I slept perpendicular to them at their feet, with my feet hanging off the bed. Definitely not the luxury experience that I was expecting. I was told that they will have another room available for me the next day. The room change can only happen between 2:30-3 PM which is right in the middle of my kids naps, so they didn't nap or eat as we packed to move rooms. When I arrived at the reception, I was told that they were putting me back in the activity area which wouldn't have worked for us. Afterall, I upgraded the room to get a quieter place. so one more terrible night at the same room. Next day, the kids again, didn't nap or eat lunch while I dealt with the rooms. While trying to make arrangements, I was bounced from one person to the next at least 4 times. each time I had to explain the situation to a new person, and there was a general feeling that I was inconveniencing them. with the kids crying in the room, the lack of care from the staff, I hate to admit that I broke down crying at the reception. To which I was told - not to cry as I got the room I wanted. The lack of empathy was staggering. The new room was great, it had 2 beds, a jet-tub, and had a swim up pool. Most importantly, it was in a quiet are of the hotel (building#2) and had a beautiful ocean view. At that point, we were on our third day and I was so frustrated with the room experience, several issues at the buffet service and room service. It really felt that we had challenges Every step of the way. I started looking into trip interruption and returning home before the end of our scheduled trip. My husband, ended up convincing me to stay, as the room situation has been resolved and maybe things will start looking up. l learned to expect that everything takes a while. Room service often took over an hr after I put in the order so I started having scheduled deliveries. I got to know the better servers at the buffet so I chose where we sat accordingly. And while we still had some ups and downs, our experience improved. Room Service: Has great breakfast options but not so much for lunch, dinner or midnight snack. we ordered some food the night we arrived, the burger bread came wet, the fries were chewy and the ham and cheese sandwich was cold and dry. So I never ordered dinner from room service anymore. If we needed, one of us went to the buffet and got some food for the other person. after the first few nights, I started ordering nightly scheduled milk for the babies and breakfast for them. the service was always on time which was great. The only down side was that while I always asked for them not to call the room in the middle of the night before they make a delivery and for the delivery person to knock quietly. It was often followed but not always and woke up the kids several times. Food: Food was fresh, and was overall fine. Not much variety though, I'd say comparable to Cuba. Bar service: The bartenders were always nice and friendly. Housekeeping: Did an overall good job. Sometimes will leave us with 2 towels instead of 4, but they would bring more if asked. It would often take a few hours, but we got our towels eventually. The great thing about our room location that it was very close to the beach towel station so we took towels from there if we needed extra. One day my son peed the bed and I called to ask for the bed to be changed. after a while of no one coming, I called the operator again at around 5 pm and asked that they change the bed by 6:30 PM as the kids go to bed after. luckily, we ended up staying for a bit of the show as it was playing earlier that day, and we got to the room by 8- 8:30 PM. The staff was just in the middle of changing the bed. When we expressed our surprised that it wasn't done, the response was - "well, im here now". This is the kind of approach we saw often. no empathy, no care, more like - here's your solution, what else do you want. Robbery: I accidentally left my kids bagpack in the coffee shop by the reception for about 15 minutes, when I came back the bagpack was there, but the money was gone - about 7 dollars in tip money. Not a big financial loss, and at this point we just laughed at it because of everything else that's been going on. On a different occasion I also had my phone in an open pocket in the stroller, when I noticed someone standing by the stroller - strangely, right in the middle of the pathway- looking in the direction of the phone. they left after I picked up the phone from the stroller. so keep an eye mon your things. There were many more smaller "mishaps", which wouldn't make a dent if there weren't so many of them. The Good: Not everything was bad. The food station by the pool was really great - Good service and tasty jerk chicken. the food at the buffet was pretty tasty although it was the same thing daily with not much veriety. The babysitters at the kids club were amazing. I left my kids with a babysitter for an hour and they had so much fun. The phone operators were always polite, caring even went an extra mile to help us get diapers from the city. there were 2 operators for the room service and one of them was always super friendly, remembered my orders and requests not to call the room in the middle of the night. There was a lot of security staff at the resort (day and night) which made us feel safe regardless of the $7 robbery. everyone always smiled as they passed you in the resort. The swimming pools were beautiful and always clean. people seemed to be engaged with the activities, and looked like they were having fun. I didn't take part as we were mostly at the beach. The beach: Had some seaweed, but overall, warm clean water. The sand was soft, white and amazingly warm. In summary, I have been to many different Caribbean resorts of all levels - from 3 star Cuban resort, to an extra luxury 5 star mexico resort. The service here was by far the worst. I still feel stressed thinking about our vacation. It will probably be a few years before I go to Jamaica again but definitely not returning to Royalton.The trip was not worth it for me.

Great time!!

Wonderful Resort, lots of good food options, and entertainment during the day is engaging. I will recommend this Resort for both families and couples. The only slightly negative aspects is the bus ride to the resort is a bit long at an hour and a half, and the nightly entertainment needs improvement. Other than that it's a top notch Resort that is worth the experience.
