Great staff, Food issues

Just got back from Dreams, Puerto Aventuras. "OK" experience overall, but there was one HUGE shortfall everyone should know about. In my opinion, the breakfast buffet is one of the most important parts of an all inclusive experience. This resort failed to deliver on this. The Buffet dining room is very small. The buffet items are lined up on the same wall and in two pieces on both sides of the "Omelette" guy. So, everyone lines up for an omelette, and covers the buffet trays so they are not acc [... read more]essible. Worse yet, the selections at the buffet were terrible and did not regularly include staples such as bacon, ham or sausage each day. These are the easiest and most basic items you must have at a breakfast buffet - I have been to many all inclusives in Mexico, DR and Cuba and have NEVER seen a buffet this bad.Al la cartes were so so - Portofino was the best and we ate there three nites. Pizza was excellent Took a look at dinner buffet twice and disappointed each time - again, the most standard item at a dinner buffet is a PASTA bar. This was not there either. Otherwise, all staff was very happy, friendly, helpful and we tipped them accordingly. Great selection of name brand liquor and Mexican beer. Resort clean overall and plenty of beach chairs. In summary, I was very disappointed simply because there is just no excuse for not having some very basic, daily staples at the buffet - have never seen this anywhere. This would have to improve for me to return to this resort.

Great Entertainment, Excellent Staff, Decent Food.

Mostly young families here during the week, luckily we found a few young couples to spend the week with. The food was decent, unfortunately their were only about two a la carte restaurants open each night, through the week. Cocktails weren't good, no premium booze, what they had available was to be purchased by the bottle. No lobby bar which I found to be strange and unfortunate every AI I have ever stayed at has one. It's a great way to meet up to start the night. The entertainers (Giovani, Jor [... read more]ge and Mitzy) were excellent they kept the place alive.

Good resort

Staff very friendly and helpful. Resort clean rooms clean. Loved the small pool by the ocean-it was great for snorkelling Omelettes in the morning were great. Loved that you didn't have to reserve for the resteraunts

Great stay!

This resort is small. I loved the idea of no bracelets or reservations. Pools stayed open till 11. The beach is small lots of seaweed. The chairs on the beach are booked by 7am which is a downer. Food was great. Rooms were clean staff treated you well.

Excellent Family Resort

Thanks to trip central, we were able to travel to Riviera Maya and stay at DREAMS Puerto Aventuras. This is an excellent family resort. The pool and the beach are right next to each other. The beach area was private, clean, and super relaxing. The resort offered lots of fun activities. Their kids club was amazing. The evening shows were mostly great. The rooms were very clean. The staff were extremely friendly and caring. The only con to this resort was the food was bland.

Great family vacation

The grounds were great, service and food was excellent. The beach was awesome. The room service is 24/7. The kids were entertained everyday and everyone was so kind. The dolphin swim was an unreal experience.

Awesomeness

Dreams was a wonderful spot for an amazing family vacation! There was so many fun things to do- the food was great! The staff was friendly and helpful. Great size resort. The dolphin experience was incredible. The beach was clean and nice. Kayaking,sailing kidsclub all great!

PERFECT FAMILY VACATION

Our family just returned from a fabulous week at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. The hotel was the perfect size, wasn't overly large which was great for young families. Our daughters (6&9) were able to get around and always in our view, unlike other resorts we've stayed at in the past. We had a ground level family suite, which was amazing. We were able to walk in and out all day long, and great for us when kids were in room resting after a long day in the sun. We had great food and went to all of the  [... read more]a la carte restaurants. It was extremely nice not having to make reservations. We never had to wait and were always taken care of. The barefoot grille made the most amazing wood fire pizzas. To die for! There was a lot of options and never repeat meals. Lots of varieties and plenty of food! Dulce, at the main pool, always made sure we had something cold to drink and was a sweetie. The Kids Club was fantastic and always had activities for the kids. Our girls participated in crafts and bungee trampoline. It was nice that my husband and I felt safe to leave the girls for activities. The entertainment team was fantastic. They truly keep that resort happening. Giovanni, Bernice, Jorge... Loved the water aerobics, Zumba, foam party in pool, zip lining across Beach, sandcastle competition...all an amazing experience that was a wonderful experience for our family. The nightly shows were good, Magic shows, fire show. We participated in the Dolphin Discovery on site as well. However, I booked directly on the website 2 weeks before we arrived. I was able to get a deal (50%) off entire booking, where it was extremely pricey to book at actual location . The town of Puerto Aventuras also has Dolphin Discovery programs too, where you can swim with Dolphins, Manatees and Sea Lions. Puerto Aventuras was a lovely experience. Our daughters had their hair braided, bought souvenirs and ate amazing gelato ice cream! We were able to see the marina and the fish that were caught during day. We were very impressed with the friendliness, the smiles that everyone gave and it truly was an amazing experience. We would recommended this resort for sure!

Reasonable Value for Money

Family room is much much too small for 6 people. It should not be advertised for 6 people. Lack of chairs on the beach. Food is not great but acceptable. Entertainment is good. Very friendly staff. Resort is kept reasonably clean.

Great Little Resort

We booked this resort at the last minute, one week before leaving during March Break. This resort may be small is stature, but is big on offerings with customer service that sets the bar for other resorts! The rooms are spacious, very clean with a nicely stocked mini fridge. The rooms are cleaned twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening for turn down service. Anything we needed in our room, example hangers or an iron, was delivered to us within 10 minutes. The bathtubs could use [... read more] a little love as the caulking is showing a little age, but everything is clean. Our room overlooked the Dolphin pool. What a beautiful way to wake up each morning, to the sights & sounds of Dolphins playing! The pool is smaller than most resorts, but never really seemed over crowded. You do need to get up early to get a lounger, but this is par for the course at every resort. The Animation Staff are wonderful. Every resort has Animation Staff, however, there is something special about their staff. They seem GENUINELY friendly, they encourage guests to get involved without being pushy. It's just a very friendly environment. There is something happening everyday. From Aqua Arobics at noon, to a friendly game of pool volleyball, to bubble soccer on the beach, beach volleyball, beach Aqua Arobics, and last but not least, an AMAZING bubble party in the pool! I have never experienced so much activity at a resort while still being able to relax. The food is very good. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with a Crepe station! So yummy! The a la carte restaurants do not take reservations but instead are on a first come first serve basis. If you do not get there before 6pm, you will have to wait about an hour for a table. The drinks are great, the water served at the restaurants and ice are safe to consume, none of us were sick at all. The resort itself is located inside of a smaller gated community which consists of 3 or 4 resorts, condos, houses, a marina, shops and restaurants. You can take a bike from the resort and ride around. It is very safe and quite lovely. There is a little pressure from sales people at the concierge desk but if you simply say "no thank you", they will leave you alone. Otherwise, you will be stuck in a 4-5 hour sales pitch! Be warned. The Dolphin swim is amazing! We did it on the day we left. What a wonderful way to end our vacation. The price is reasonable, however, the photos are expensive. You can barter down the price a little bit, but not much. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely go back. If you are looking for a smaller resort, no long lines, no crowding, good food and amazing customer service, this is the place for you.

Nice, but missing something

There was much that was great about this resort: the food; the adult pool; the family pool; the pool bars; the dive centre (excellent!). The downsides included the a/c odor that seems to prevail in the rooms -- clearly outdated a/c system, as they are LOUD. The last thing I would say is that management took three tries to get our reservations correct (double beds for boys; king bed for my wife and I), even though we had to pay extra with the reservation for this.

Great family resort!

My husband and I visited Dreams Puerto Aventuras the first week of March, and really enjoyed the location in the Mayan Riviera, the small size of the resort and especially our dolphinview room with private balcony so that we could watch the dolphins in the dolphinarium any time. Quite entertaining! Rooms are large and very quiet, although there were children next door; the beds are comfy too. The staff is excellent and they're always asking if there's anything you need. Service in the restaurant [... read more]s and at the beach is great. We enjoyed the main buffet, which is inside, and we ate at the restaurants each evening, and we liked that there were no reservations and we never had to wait. Food was very good and we never had a bad meal. The internet cafe always had lovely treats and coffees. We always felt very safe and they take your room number to keep track of you if you're leaving the resort. The beach is very clean but small, and water shoes are recommended because this is a coral reef. We saw many divers going to the marina. Great concierge service at all times. Just half an hour by taxi to see the ruins at Tulum. Never had such friendly service at a resort.

2 weeks of unforgeable stay at Dreams Puerto Av!

Excellent resort to relax, to snorkel and very enjoyable for kids. Good location to reach interesting places like Xcaret, Tulum ruins and etc. Very friendly stuff, amazing activities and tasty food! We would return and recommend to our friends!

Awesome resort!

We loved the size of the resort, ground, staff, food and dolphins were great :-) The nighttime shows were great as well. An excellent resort for children too! It was a nice resort to snorkel, the beach area was small, easy to watch children.

Amazing Staff! Very clean resort with amazing food

The resort was very very clean, rooms immaculate, food areas never disorganized or dirty. Food options were fantastic, really enjoyed the cafe (although hard to get a strong coffee), amazing desserts there. The dining is definitely fine, favourite was Portofino. The staff are extremely friendly and the resort is so small that you get to know them by name and they remember you. Pool is great for kids and adults as well. Beach would have been nice if not full of seaweed, but that is not the resort [... read more]'s fault. Sylvia (hostess at the Buffet) was amazing, really went above and beyond, she treated our son as if he was her own. Edward (waiter at the Buffet) was also fantastic, as well as several others that my memory fails to remember their names. Overall great experience. One negative: resort caters to families with children but bathrooms do not have bathtubs!! It is really difficult to bathe a squirmy slippery 1 year old without a bathtub.

Been to many resorts, but this one was the best.

One thing I liked was no wrist bands, no towel tags and no reservation required at the specialty restaurants. My room was upgraded to a king size bed and guess what it also had a loft!!!. The bathroom was equipped with a double sink and the shower was fantastic. Our room attendant kept our room we'll cleaned and well stocked and turned down with goodies and an occasional flower. The service at all the restaurants was exceptional the waiters friendly and helpful. For example my grandson who does  [... read more]not like sushi and wanted French fries, the waiter made a special trip to another restaurant to get him some fries. This was the type of service we always received. There was always someone cleaning and the area was always spotless. The bartenders who were always very busy did an outstanding job. They were even great making special drinks for the grand kids. The entertainment was varied and exciting. While sitting on the beach we were never without a drink because the beach servers were always ready to serve. The programs for the kids were great especially the explorer club where the caregivers kept them busy. Guess what else ,my older grandson took scuba lessons and even went diving in the ocean. All in all it was an exceptional vacation.

Great Vacation Spot

Outstanding week in the sun for a family wedding - location for the ceremony was on the ocean in a large gazebo - very beautiful!! Rooms were excellent: large, well maintained and very clean. Great food with lots of options. Two super pools with bars and a good beach with reef for snorkeling; lots of sea life to see. But the best had to be the very attentive staff at Dreams, they provided excellent friendly service throughout our stay.

Simply Amazing!

The Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort was fantastic. The restaurants have a wonderful selection of foods to satisfy everyone. We had one little guy with us who is a picky eater and we were able to get something for him to enjoy every day, every meal! The resort, small in size, has lounge chairs and shade in abundance, loads of fun activities for adults and children and was constantly being cleaned and raked. Nice variety of evening shows, indoors and out....even an outdoor movie night for children! [... read more] For those who do not like to vacation with little ones there is an adult area with pool, bar, and restaurant. My husband and I decided to relax in this area for one day and found that you couldn't hear anything from the family area, and this was very nice. Rooms were kept clean, with plenty of towels, very good water pressure, and lots of hot water. Nothing seems to be overlooked when it comes to guest comfort, even sunscreen was left in the rooms. I have never seen this in a resort before and was quite impressed with this added touch. I should mention that we were a group of 11 including 3 children. Every one of us had a fantastic time and would return again, most definitely!

Underwhelmed

Everything was just ok. Beach was very small and weedy, Restaurant options were limited and long waits to be seated. Buffet was ok. Little variety and often cold. Very noisy. Overall very disappointed.

Great resort

Dreams was a nice resort right on the beach the pools were a little smaller than average but clean we stayed in the "deal of the day" room 312 not the best views but the room was awesome with a huge bathroom and large wrap around deck it was on the corner so it was real private the food selection could have been better but the 24 hour room service was awesome, nice stay. We visited puerto aventuras, shopped and visit a little bar at the marina called HooHaa Restaurant and Bar a great little plac [... read more]e with karaoke, nightly entertainment and the best seafood in the area, the staff were super friendly and the owners personally greeted us at our table, they had great appetizers too. We would highly recommend a visit to HooHaa it's a short 5-7 minute walk from the resort also you can watch the dolphins swimming while you have drinks and lunch!
