Awesome Vacation

The Occidental at Xcaret Destination is an excellent vacation getaway - we spent 7 glorious days here and enjoyed our time immensely - restaurants were great, grounds were great including the wildlife on this property. Most of all, the staff were so amazing - they could not do enough for us.

Amazing employees

My sister and I were in building 22 ( top floor. Back of building). We had monkeys on our balcony every morning. Wonderful experience. At one point our keys didn’t work any longer so I went next door to Royal level. Thankfully they fix the problem with the keys. If you don’t feel like taking the trolley ask for shortcut to lobby. I wouldn’t recommend this resort for people that have problems walking a lot. Everything else was great. Bon voyage

The resort, staff and meal options were amazing

Big Hotel with small hotel feel

Air Transat’s Xcaret Occidental Great hotel...quite large hotel with a small hotel feel! The planning and attention to detail everywhere is excellent. The strongest point in Xcaret Occidental is their fabulous staff and the resorts commitment to keeping the place clean everywhere!! Bonus points for both those. The choice and quality in restaurants is also above the average. I particularly enjoyed The Oriental restaurant and sushi with lots of non sushi items. Even the Saki is included. You c [... read more]an enjoy breakfast and lunch right at the beach or at a the larger buffet. The beach the pools and the resort are both set up perfectly for families and there are lots of both! However, you never felt inundated with kids/families. This small resort feel comes at the expense of a lot of walking to get around. My 10,000 steps was easily completed by 1pm each day. There is a tram to save walking but I never seemed to find it when I wanted a ride. Good fun to see the wildlife just hanging out although the monkeys can get quite brazen. Rooms large and comfortable and as everywhere...clean. Another strong point is the easy of on site access to the famous park Xcaret Experience. Well worth participating in. Would li recommend Xcaret Occidental...absolutely !!!..as long as you can accept a lot of walking and families having fun!!

Beautiful!

If you love nature and all it has to offer, this resort is for you. We spent hours and hours just walking on the trails at the resort and at the park. The rooms are beautiful, the pools are great, the adult section with the natural pool is awesome! Superb meals all around. Will definitely return.

Unique environment at Xcaret hotel

Spectacular jungle environment exquisitely maintained. Excellent food and service. Friendly staff. Need reservations for tennis courts and specialized restaurants. The hard surface tennis court needs to be resurfaced and a tennis pro should be available during peak periods. We enjoy the Xcaret park and all the activities.

Everything you want in a resort and more

This is my third time back to the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it still is one of my favorite resorts in the Caribbean. The resort is built around the lush natural grounds with walking trails. There are Mayan Ruins on the property that date back over 1500years. With all the greenery you will find on the resort monkeys, just playing around in the trees and from time to time they will hang out on your balcony if you are in or around buildings 18 & 19. There are flamingos and deer on site [... read more] along with the most recent addition of Bambi a baby deer that is being raised by the wonderful staff that work at this hotel. She is like a puppy she gives kisses all over and you can pet her for hours. She is the sweetest. Parrots are partnered and placed throughout the main lobby areas of the resort. there are turtles and countless iguanas and geckos. You will see little furry animals as well going about their daily business. The inlet is amazing, you have calm waters (especially great for thoes with little kids) with hundreds of tropical fish and minnows from the ocean that hang out there all day so bring your snorkels as there is much to see in this part of the ocean. Food is fantastic there is always something for everyone. You no longer have to make reservations for the a la carts. It is first come first serve. We never had to wait for a table but do keep in mind we went the first week of November and the resort was not at capacity. The steak at all the a la carts was amazing. Tender and delish definitely recommend. Don't forget to check out the Xcaret Eco Park that is right next door however admission is aproximately $100US per adult and $50US per child. There is also a nightly Mayan ritual that is held in the lobby at 7pm weeknights. It is definitely worth seeing. The resort is big however there are carts that go around the resort and will stop and pick you up and take you to your destination if you don't want to walk through all the nature. Again, this resort will not disappoint so do check it out.

Amazing experience

This resort is a great experience for anyone that loves nature and wildlife! The staff was super friendly, Valentina at building 21 and our waiter’s Carlos at the Italian a la Cart and Carlos at the beach buffet where such wonderful people. I don’t know their names but all the staff from building 18 (where my friends stayed) were truly wonderful as well. The beignets were fantastic and so much better than the al a cart restaurants! We didn’t watch any of the entertainment while there, wasn’t for us. But the grounds and the scenery beat anywhere else I have ever stayed.

Lovely Grounds... Room For Improvement

On an operational level, there were several bumps during our seven day All Inclusive stay. Honesty and transparency are important... The tone of our hospitality experience started from the start at check-in. Heard similar issues from other visiting guests. Perhaps the property was having a trying week? Sadly, I think Occidental at Xcaret just might be a tired resort with tired staff. Rooms are starting to fail, House-Keeping was spotty, Bartenders were inconsistent. Food is okay. Something for [... read more] everyone really. The lush grounds/animals add charm to this resort. The unique lagoon stands out as well. Having Xcaret Park next door was the highlight of this hotel.

Already wanna go back!

The resort was beautiful and had a more authentic feel. You really feel like you’re in the rainforest with the surrounding lush trees and wild animals roaming the grounds. Staff were extremely friendly, although beware of them trying to convince you to opt into a timeshare. The food was delicious, some of which I would pay to eat back home! I was worried about it being a fake beach as it is private but it connects to the ocean so there are beautiful fish and clear waters. I went with my boyfriend and it was the ultimate couple’s retreat but I could also see it as a great place for families.

Very kid friendly resort

this resort is very kid friendly.. you can see lots of animals around the resort.. food is amazing.. and the all the staff is very very friendly and accomodating.. the resort is very clean.. i never saw a single garbage lying around.. will definitely go back to this resort.. thank you to nephilene for the recommendation and making our first all inclusive trip easy breezy.. till our next trip! 😍

Vacation in paradise

The Hotels settings were breath taking. It was a like a little village nestled in the jungle. Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place. The staff were friendly and inviting and went out of there way to make you feel welcome.

Absolutely amazing

Occidental xcaret was the best resort that we have ever stayed at & we have been at at least 40 different resorts, the grounds were beautiful, the hotel was very clean, as I am a cleaner & look for this, food was great, hotel staff make you feel very welcome, beach was amazing, we picked this resort because of it being in the jungle with all the wildlife & the xcaret park next to the resort we didn’t expect to have such an amazing time, we plan on going back in May & we have told all our famil [... read more]y & friends about this resort & they can’t wait to book up.

Trip review

Our trip was amazing and Jenn was fantastic. Helped us out so much. Only problem we had was with the parking. We weren't clear on where to park and we parked in the wrong lot. Ended up having to pay $125 to get out! Other than that everything was great.

Beautiful resort

We had an amazing week! Loved that the park was eco friendly lots of plants. We went to most of the dinner restaurants as they did not require a reservation the most we waited was 30mins, we never go to the restaurants that require reservation because we can never keep them. The food was good the rooms where nice the staff was excellent. Xcaret was beautiful lots to do you can go in by the beach snack area which was great as food and drinks are very expensive at xcaret when we where hungry we w [... read more]ould get out by the ocean snack restaurant have lunch cool down and go back in we also carried the water bottles from our room as water was $5 US. We went to playa del Carmen to shop are got some good deals and went to Walmart to by alcohol as they had great prices we compared with the airport most of the one we got where 40% less at Walmart.

Beautiful resort

The hotel was absolutely stunning. For my first all-inclusive experience I could not have asked for a better one. The staff were friendly and the grounds were gorgeous. The food was very good, and offered a large variety of options, and even if something wasn’t available, the staff would accommodate.

Awesome times at Occidental at Xcaret

The Occidental at Xcaret resort is amazing! It is a large resort with lots of offerings. Many restaurants, bars, pools and a nice man made beach that is calm. A wonderful trolley will continuously stroll up and down the paths and take you wherever you need to go. This is fun but also helpful for the young and old who may not find it easy to get around as easy. The resort is in the jungle so you have the amazing wildlife and monkeys freely roaming around the resort and even will visit you on your [... read more] balcony. We had an amazing corner preference suite in building 18 on the second floor that had a seating area, large bathroom, mini fridge and large wraparound balcony. The best part is that we were on the quieter side closer to the jungle so the monkeys visited a lot. The attentive staff working at the the resort are always asking if you are enjoying your stay and always say hi as you pass by. The food in the main dining room buffet is delicious and plenty of variety. The canal through the resort is beautiful also. Every evening a traditional Mayan celebration happens we’re they paddle up the canal with drums. There are many shops with items made in Mexico from beautiful sterling jewelry, wood carvings, clothing and more. A wonderful feature about this resort and location is that it is adjoining to the Xcaret adventure park where you can swim through natural waterways, through tunnels and caves, see and swim with dolphins, see manatees, sea turtles, stingrays and so much more! The horse show and Mayan night show is not to miss! This resort is amazing!!

Good resort- a lot of walking

We loved the jungle atmosphere this resort has to offer. Tons of wildlife to see. Negatives were the beach- lots of seaweed and very small, and everywhere was a 10 minute walk since the resort is so massive. The food was great apart from the main buffet, eat anywhere else but there. best sushi at the a la carte. Seafood restaurant had great steak. Beautiful Resort

Recently spent the week of April 20 - 27th, 2019 at Occidental at Xcaret. What a gorgeous resort! Not only was our room great but the entire resort is breath taking. It felt like we were in the jungle as the hotel is thoughtfully built amongst the natural vegetation. The grounds have monkeys, many species of birds and animals that are indigenous to the area. The resort staff were friendly and helpful and everywhere was clean. This resort was very family friendly and the children in the "kids [... read more] club" seemed to be having a blast, just my observation. The were a good varied of restaraunts and there was no lining up to reserve dinners, you just walked in to any one whenever you wanted to. No limits. Great pool as well as a nice beach with a private adult only area which we enjoyed the most. Only aspect that was disappointing was the night shows and adult entertainment... The evening shows were no where near the quality we experienced in Cuba. The resort seemed to shut down by 10:00pm. All in all I would go back to the Occidental and as well Xcaret Eco Park in itself was a wonderful experience! Next time though definately 10 days NO LESS

Very nice resort!

Beautiful resort located within a jungle. We saw monkeys from our balcony! The beach is beautiful. There is also a beach pool which is also nice and not super busy. The pools are well maintained and a close walk from all the buildings. The staff was excellent. They are hardworking, always smiling and will say “hola” when they walk by you. The food was ok. The buffet had a lot of options however our stomachs were a little upset after each meal so bring extra pepto/Imodium.
