Great hotel choice

We really liked this hotel, it is close to the airport, small grounds, great beach and pool. The food was fantastic, best food I've had at an all inclusive. The breakfast is a buffet, lunch and dinner are ordered from a menu, every meal we had was beyond fantastic. Dinner had about six options and lunch had a very big menu with a lot of options. There was always room on the beach and if you didn't get a sun covered spot someone would put an umbrella in the sand for you. The drinks were great and they had waitresses/waiters on the beach to bring you food and drinks. The staff were all great. We really liked how small it was. Every night they had entertainment at dinner - different bands, we liked that vs. the usual shows, it was a nice change. There was no night life other than the band at dinner. We only sat up twice but both nights there were about 10 people sitting up at the bar. The bar by the pool closes at 10 pm and then lobby bar stays open until midnight. We plan on going back to this resort and recommend it for sure. There was a lot of entertainment during the day, always something going on to join into.

Very Clean and Helpful Resort

My Wife and I, and family stayed at the Hotel NYX Cancun the week of 17-24 March, 2018. Hotel Staff went above and beyond to meet our needs and expectations, up to and including waiters, entertainment personell, bartenders etc... The hotel grounds are quaint and well maintained. Very very clean. The Master suite is a must for a view of the beach and ocean. We were a group of 11 which gave a good insight to the selection of rooms available. Food was very good. It was presented well and tasted good. Lunch menu was always the same, but the Supper Menu changed daily. The Chianti Restaurant that is allowed twice during you week long stay is a must. The Italian Fare is excellent amd the atmosphere the same. All and all great stay and vacation, the location is centralized and close to attractions along the Cancun Strip. The only con was, there are a lot of steps throughout this resort.

Quiet place, great food and good value in Cancun.

We went to NYX Cancun in February 2018 for our honeymoon. It is a short ride from the airport. Around 25 minutes depending on the stops. Beach/Pools: The beach was amazing. Not too many vendors. Beautiful white beach sand. There were red flags, but with a life guard on duty we swam in the ocean anyway. 2 mid-sized pools, and a small children's pool. The main pool was nice, but you get crowded out during some of the daily activities. The quiet pool gets very little sun. One main Ja [... read more]cuzzi with two runoff tubs. Wasn't too hot though, and sometimes you would have to wait for an employee to turn the jets on. *If you are staying in Tower 1, like we were, you have to go through the hotel lobby in order to make it to pools or the beach. Service: The bartender we had the first few days was not very responsive. We had trouble getting a hold of the front desk with the room phoneline. Most of the waiters were friendly. Food: The food was excellent. Breakfast Buffet in the main building every morning. Lunch was from a set menu with a daily special. You had to be dressed with more than a swimsuit to eat in the restaurant. But you could order food delivered to the beach. Supper was at the same beach restaurant, with a set menu accompanied by a buffet. Groups of 3 or more might have a long wait to get a table. Food is only available during set hours. Also a onsite gourmet restaurant, that was incredible. But you have to reserve, meet a dress-code, and can only go once a week. Rooms: We had a huge room on the 5th floor. We had a master suite with a small balcony. A king-sized bed. Nice and clean and newly renovated. A bit dusty due to the renovations. *There was no working elevator (under construction) in tower 1 and being on the 5th floor, that was quite a trek up! The shower was humongous. But the street noise was very loud, earplugs are recommended if you are in tower 1. Value: Good value for the price. We had a couples massage at the onsite spa. It was very enjoyable. Other than a small band in the lobby on Thurs-Sun there is no nightly entertainment. Location: Centered on the hotel zone strip. Right next to the Flamingo Mall. An hour and a half from most excursions. Short ride to the airport.

Excellent, courteous and friendly service

The hotel was clean, well maintained, the food was very good and the service reallu good overall. The only problem was with the room which was smelling moldy and humid. I did not ask for a room change because I had already asked for one as the first room that was assigned was located on the 4th floor with no elevators and my aunt of 70 y-old with whom I was travelling could not walk that many stairs. SMALL INVITING RESORT

THIS IS A SMALL RESORT, STAFF IS EXTREMLY FRIENDLY AND GOOD, FOOD IS GREAT BUFFET FOR BREAKFAST, MENU FOR LUNCH AND DINNER. BEACH IS VERY NICE, ROOMS WERE CLEAN,BARS MAKE GOOD QUALITY DRINKS, VERY QUIET IF YOU WANT TO RELAX NOT A PARTY RESORT.POOLS ARE SMALL. BUS STOP TO GO TO TOWN OR TO THE SHOPS ALMOST IN FRONT OF THE RESORT. BEACH IS WHITE SAND WITH NO ROCKS, CAN WALK A LONG WAY ON THE BEACH

Room location

Everything was fine about the hotel grounds, beach etc. I booked a single room and asked that I not be on the ground floor and also near my son's family when I booked. They put me actually below ground in a horrible room not even in the same building as my son's family. I found this very upsetting. Eventually after a few days and much begging they moved me to another (ok) room. The food was good and the location was great. It was not a great hotel for children... Would Recommend and Return

A few things missing were the customer service at the front desk, access to all-day drinks and non-domestic drinks (unless you upgrade), but all in all, the servers/bartenders/bellhops were wonderful! The resort is gorgeous and very clean. The beach was beautiful and the food, oh wow!! Some rooms were good for the value, but not 5-star.

Honest Review

This resort met our expectations based on the price we paid. Rooms: We were in an un-renovated Junior Suite - These suites are advertised as having a balcony and ocean view. We did not have a balcony and all of our windows were located on public stairwells (so we had to keep our blinds closed the entire week). The first night our air conditioner didn't work but that was promptly fixed. However, our room smelled of strong sewer for 3 of the days. Front desk staff were a waste of time. I spo [... read more]ke with them most days as to the condition of our room and they were very rude and extremely unhelpful. These employees were the worst part of the resort experience. It seems that they deal with dissatisfied customers regularly and have become desensitized to the situation. Very frustrating. The beach and wait staff were incredible and made our vacation! These people work incredibly hard to please everyone and deserved all the tips they received. Food and drinks from your beach chair was a huge plus! The Nachos were amazing! The food was average. The fresh egg station at breakfast was great but the rest of the breakfast options were lacking. Lunch was the best meal! There was a large menu to order from and was very tasty. There was no buffet at lunch but this wasn't an issue for us. Dinner was the worst meal of the day. There was a small buffet with appetizers and desserts but the rest of the dinner was a menu with limited options each night (generally 5 options based on a theme). Italian was the one night that we enjoyed the main course. The drinks were great! Always had great flavour and a large variety of options. The main pool was older but right on the beach and was warm. There was no swim up bar but this was not an issue for us. The waves were large on the beach (but it's Cancun and thats to be expected). I was up with the sunrise each morning so getting beach chairs and shade were not an issue for us. But if you are not an early riser you will struggle to find shade (most chairs with shade were taken by about 7am). Overall, I would consider going to this resort again, but only if we were guaranteed a renovated master suite. I would not go to an un-renovated room again.

OK

the Hotel was beautiful and the room was great. The negative side was that the tv reception was poor and the food was hit or miss and was served cold most of the time. The staff were very good but were over worked . I do not think I would go back.

Boring

Not much to do, bar opens at 10 and closes at 1, no elevator , we were on the 5th floor, not enough chairs at the beach or pool, a lot a lot a lot of stairs, only Buffett breakfast. Sit down, order of a menu lunch and supper . Small pool....and big line ups for breakfast! pick somewhere else

Good!

We like very much the beach with white sand and very clean water, swimming pools are not very large but we didn't feel discomfort because of that since they never were crowded. The hotel rooms have very good view on lagoon from our balcony (it was a garden view room) , properly cleaned and customer service as well as maintenance/cleaning personnel was very attentive to our needs. We like the food served and its presentation but didn't like that we didn't have an option for an actual buffet  [... read more](buffet option was only for breakfast in the mornings and for the entree & dessert in the evening), all other time during lunch time and diner we have to order in the hotel's restaurant and wait to be served for our order. Usually we go every year to Dominican Republic and there in the hotels we even don't go to the restaurants, only buffet with its multiple options to offer and fast time saving serving. We also didn't like entertainment at all: TOO LOUD! Impossible to sleep in the entire building from 9 pm to 11 pm.: we were with our 2 grand-kids of 6 and 8 years old. Impossible to listen: it was TOO LOUD to be there just to listen to them, we couldn't wait even 2 minutes since it was painful even for me- I like entertainments. In the small building the musicians should not use their microphones at all: everybody could hear them even without it. Most of the people didn't like but the newcomers who come at the end of our week actually enjoyed that and there became even more loud but at least somebody enjoyed it. :-) However, if you ask us whether we enjoyed our stay, we would say -yes.

Small but very cozy resort

The good: all you can eat lunch and dinners are À la carte. So no cold and old buffet food, all fresh and made specially for you. Very good food too. The menu at dinner would change every night with different themes but there was alway a buffet style apatizers like soups, pasta, salads, pizzas and lots of very tasty ceviche. The proximity to the beach was incredible and the be [... read more]ach was beautiful. Chairs for everyone and lots of shades areas. The day entertainers were fun and nice. The proximity to the city was nice as well. We jumped on a city bus and went downtown Cancún. The shuttle service was prompt and fast. Very small gym: one bike, one treadmill and a multipurpose weight machine. But as you run or bike, you overlook the beach so it's gorgeous. The bad: the room often had a sewer smell...not very pleasant. The door didn't close well and the maid left it open after she came to clean the room. Lack of furniture in the room made its huge size useless. It would have been nice to have access to fresh water easily. The night entertainment was weak. Bands or DJ's would come to play in the small lobby every night. Constructions on either side of the resort and in the resort made the noise unbearable. Hammer drills and electric machinery all day long! Two pools: a small useless one pretty much always in the shade. The big one is very pretty and overlooking the beach.

A fantastic smaller resort - we'll be back!

My wife and I stayed 7 nights (Mar 5-12) all inclusive in a 5th floor non-renovated master suite. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the location and our stay. NYX is a smaller resort hotel than we've experienced before (we've been to about 14 AI resorts through the Caribbean, most with 400 to 1000 rooms). We are sold on the concept of a smaller resort. We loved the closeness to the staff, the beach, attention to quality in the food and beverages, and the compact size of the resort. Reception - w [... read more]e arrived before noon , knowing our room would only be ready for a 3 pm check in. We were issued our bracelets, our luggage was stored, and we went off for lunch and to explore. At 3 pm we were promptly shown to our ocean view room. Room - we were assigned room 3502 - a non-renovated master suite. There is no elevator in our building and I counted 55 stairs from the building entrance - 85 stairs from the pool. This proved to be a pretty good workout so those with mobility or health issues might want a lower floor. The room was very large and exceptionally clean, with a sitting area, king bed, dining area and small kitchenette with fridge, sink and microwave. As it was not renovated it was a little dated looking and had a few small quirks - non of them major problems for us. The sliding doors to the balcony wouldn't close fully and the lock mechanism didn't work, only one of the bedside lamps worked, and the sofa bed lacked a mattress. The flat screen TV was an older model and could only be viewed from the bed, not the living area. This wasn't a problem for us as we don't watch TV on vacation but it may be an issue for some. The balcony was large with a table and two chairs. And the view of the pool, beach and ocean was breathtaking! Wow! Food and beverage services Breakfasts are served in the buffet restaurant with seating inside and on a patio at the entrance to the hotel. The food offered was consistently good - omelettes, eggs, pancakes and waffles made to order, various hot dishes (scrambled eggs, meats, etc) and plenty of choices for fruits, breads, yogurt, pastries and cereals. Everything was fresh and delicious and buffet stations were always replenished. Lunches and dinners are in the open air beach restaurant. We really enjoyed the small but varied lunch menu and found everything we tried to be excellent. The grilled salmon with veggies was my favorite. At dinner the menu was themed differently each night and a small buffet for appetizers, breads, soups, salads and desserts offered. We loved everything and concluded that we definitely preferred the NYX model of menu / made to order meals than buffet meals typical at larger resorts. The food is better as more care is taken in prep and presentation! I should also note that a limited menu is also available right on the beach delivered to your lounger - we found this was great for mid afternoon nacho attacks! (Thanks Jessie!) Beverage services were excellent at both the pool and lobby bars, with the drinks served in the lobby bar by Edgar in the evenings being a highlight, as he is a mix master. Pool bar and beach service for drinks was also very good. The service staff at the NYX are very friendly and professional, and make the experience. We got great service from all staff but a few stand out - Jessie at the beach, Hugo at the pool bar, Edgar at the lobby bar, Raphael, Eddy, and Eduardo at the restaurants, and Jimmy at the door. Beach and pools The main pool borders the beach and while a little smaller than many resorts, never seemed crowded. It was easy to get a seat or lounger. We typically set up for the day under a palapa on the beach and it was very convenient to go back and forth between the ocean and pool. Beach loungers were plentiful. We never had a problem getting one as long as we were there by 10 am. The beach in this area of Cancun is spectacular - wide, with endless powder sand. Perfect for walking. Waves were pretty big when we were there, with red flags each day. You could go in the water up to your waist but caution is needed - there's a strong rip current in spots. We saw two rescues during our stay. The lifeguards are on top of their game. There is also a courtyard pool and hot tub behind building 3 (our building). We used the hot tub once but didn't use the pool. The area seems a little neglected - there are only a couple of loungers and no bar or towel service. It was also very windy in that location as the buildings cause a "tornado" effect, making it a bit unpleasant. This vortex also deposits some debris in the pool through the day. Too bad something couldn't be done to make this area more appealing as it might be a chill spot. Entertainment This is not a resort with big "shows" or a huge animation team. If you need that look elsewhere. However, that being said, the daytime activities, managed by Jonathan, the one man entertainment crew extraordinaire, were excellent. He was a fun guy and runs a great program with yoga, exercise, pool games (volleyball, polo) and beach volleyball. Evening entertainment is in the lobby, with a rotation of music groups. The Cuban band while I was there (blonde female lead) was excellent with their own interpretations of some Cuban classics. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the lobby most evenings. It was a great place to hang out. Suggestions for improvements 1) When guests check in, advise them if they are on an upper floor with no elevators. 2) We missed having a place for a leisurely early morning coffee. While in-room coffee was available it wasn't very good. NYX management could consider a dedicated morning coffee bar, perhaps at the pool bar? 3) Spa staff are relentless in soliciting clients for services on the beach. Each day I was approached at least 4 or 5 times often multiple times by the same person. This was annoying. Management could make the beach experience more enjoyable by limiting this. In sum, we loved the NYX. We don't usually repeat hotels but we definitely plan to come back next winter.

Great resort!

We had a beautiful ocean view and the room was really big. They had a crib for my baby and converted a daybed for my toddler. The best part is that the food was really good! Especially the dinners, fresh fish and meat, yum!

Excellent

If you don't like your room ask and they will move you with no problems. The food is awesome at this resort. The beach is beautiful. There was a red flag on the beach everyday, but you were still able to swim. The lifeguards really do watch! The staff is kind and can not do enough for you. The only issue we had was the transport to the hotel. We had to wait over an hour the service was disorganized!

Best staff ever

The NYX was lovely....at this time unfortunately hotel construction is occurring on properties on each side of it. The staff was wonderful front desk Vanya excellent, the beach severs Mauricio andYesina are outstanding our housekeeper was lovely and the bartenders great, servers Eduardo and Arturo exceptional. Cancun Vacation @NYX Hotel

Over all the hotel was friendly desk personal spoke English no problem there often would not exchange larger bills for smaller ones said they had none was a bit of a problem especially trying to tip next our rooms very clean and maintained throughout our 10 stay. They were not as advertised SUITE ROOMS found on brochure no table or chairs in room no sofa several other amenities missing. All personal that I encountered were wonderful especially the beach waiters The food restaurant wait [... read more]ers were perfect My only complaint was regarding the supper meal I would have liked to go to a buffet occasionally or a specialty restaurant after 10 days one got tired of basically the same menu I also found it tiring walking up 34 steps to the elevator every day Would have liked a bit better night entertainment

Amazing beach/resort

Suites were very nice, balcony overlooking pool and ocean. Beautiful, best part of day on balcony with coffee👌. A small band in the lounge daily for entertainment. Staff awesome, Vania on front desk, jimmy bellboy and wait staff. Very clean. We counted 33 steps from lounge to pool etc. Minutes from mall indoor market, very big. Never had to fight for chair lots. Great place to go not too big. A little quieter!🌴🍷

Decent place

The beach and proximity to the ocean are great as is the distance to the flamingo mall and shopping for suvinears. The palm trees are a nice touch on the beach as they are the only ones on the beach. The food gets a little repetitive as there is only one place to have lunch and dinner. Nice staff and clean hotel do make it a nice stay
