Lovely ,Relaxing resort

The rooms, grounds and restaurants where very clean. Staff was wonderful. Everyone friendly and helpful. It was nice to be in a resort where everyone spoke English. Entertainment was goodi have stayed in a Rui resort before and I would return again.

RIU Negril

We really enjoyed our stay there. The grounds were clean and well kept. Rooms were large, well appointed and clean. Comfortable beds. Pools were great. Nice beach. The restaurants were good and we enjoyed the food in all of them.

Fantasy Island

Entire hotel experience was just as expected , superb.Grounds were very well cared for and groomed regularly. All but the beach which was horrible. Not used to that , but mother nature had something to do with that. Beach was eventually cleaned up the day before we came home. Room was cleaned daily and had zero issues Bed was excellent as well. Food was on another level as buffets were something from Fantasy Island. With multiple selections of everything , twice daily. Only had 1.5 days of  [... read more]rain thankfully. No it was not amazing.

The grounds where insects infested. We where dinner for them. The resort spray for insects and did not notify guess. So we had to run for cover as the machines expelled fumes when treating the lawns. Riu host and hostess awoken us while we where sleeping on the beach. ( Saying, wake up we are here, it’s 10:00 a.m.) We could not book a meal at the restaurant. We had to line up outside in the sun and heat. It was first come first served. Then they had a second setting. 9:00 p.m. So dinner wa [... read more]s in the buffet. The meat was over cooked dry and on a few occasions burnt.

Great time!!!

the hotel was right on the beach , with a lovely view of the bay the room looked out over the bay as well which afforded us the opportunity to see the other guest come and go . the food was great and if you went hungry it would be your fault. Jerk chicken on the beach was fantastic , but you had to get there early or the side dishes would be gone. all in all we had a great time as it was just what I was looking for , an opportunity to sit on the beaach in a beautiful resort and just chill

Great Resort...amazing people

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Rooms need some updating and any issues we encountered which were minor were taken care of quickly. Food was delicious overall. Having dinner reservations at the al la carte restaurants would have been helpful. Pools are clean and beautiful. Beach is quite large but water is weedy but still great to swim in. All employees at the hotel were wonderful and so helpful. Good job Riu Hotels!!

Great resort

It's more for family. Must say they look after the sanitizing and cleaning resort very clean. It must definitely is Not 5* if that's what you want. Some staff very friendly others not so if you don't tip ever single time you go to bar you may get mean looks (Beach Bar) just found the moral low and I understand the stress of last 2 yrs. Oh don't expect coffee in room everyday not gonna happen unless you keep asking for it

Great beach to do some snorkeling

Great vacation place! The hotel service was great, people are very friendly!! The Hotel is clean, and we really enjoyed the ocean front room. Was worth the extra money to us, all rooms are a nice size and bathrooms are in good shape. We enjoyed a drink on the balcony every evening before dinner and we likely would not have used it so much in not ocean front. (As they are private!) grounds were clean, they work hard to keep the area nice. There is a great snorkeling patch on this resort which is unique to here and we loved that. Spent an hour each day snorkeling and seen lots! But it does have some seaweed and a few rough patches where the other beaches do not. Our only disappointment was in the drinks - we would like a premium alcohol. Easy fix to just grab a bottle in the duty free on the way and have in your room for the evening. The food was good, main dinning just as good as the restaurants they offer. I feel this was a great value for the money and it was so beautiful 🌴🇯🇲. You will enjoy!

Very nice

Nice resort..staff is very friendly and kind and prompt. Relaxing stay vacation. Had a good time at this resort . The food options could be better. Would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax.

Great potential, needs some maintenance and updates

The majority of the resort is good, same with the staff, but I have some mixed reviews. The resort needs to fix a few things, namely ice machines, open electric covers in a couple places and broken tiles. Our room itself was fine, although a little smaller than expected, however the bed was creaky and hard. The front reception staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to assist, with the exception of calling us at 9am the day after we arrived, waking us up to ask if everything was f [... read more]ine and then calling back a minute later to ask when we were departing AND then again immediately after then, only for them to realize they had already called us and to hang up. Restaurants: Green Island (main buffet), lots of selection, mostly good, but a little disorganized. They would have pastas, meats and vegetables in several different places throughout. Luigi (Italian) was good, but the first time we tried to get in, the line was initially fairly small only to realize that 2 pairs of people were actually parties of 12 and 8 and we didn't end up getting. We went back the following night and the food was good. Mandalay (Asian), while a smaller buffet style, had a nice selection of Chinese, Japan and other. Seagull (Steak and lunch buffet), the lunch buffet had a large selection of everything, the steak (evening) was good although don't expect a Keg experience. The Jerk Shack was opened between 12 and 3pm, the jerk chicken was tasty and moist, and the side dishes were good as well. Many people raved about the jerk chicken and ate it daily. Bars: Welcome bar: I only had 2 drinks there one evening, the staff were fine but not the cheeriest bunch. Sports Bar: staff were ok, but could have been a tad friendlier and the food is limited to popcorn, nachos and cheese, and frozen hot dogs and hamburgers. BOB beach bar: staff were MISERABLE and you couldn't get a smile out of them if you were holding a gun. This was mentioned by several people we spoke with. I'm a constant tipper, usually $1 USD or $100 J per drink, but at the end I barely tipped this group due to their bad attitudes. Rastaman Lounge Bar: this had the best bartenders in my opinion. Paul and another lady working (forgot her name) were absolutely great. They made my rum and coke press perfectly, same as my wife's Smirnoff Lime Daiquiri and after the first order knew what I wanted every time after that. The "pit boss" or whatever you want to call him (area supervisor or what have you, guy wearing the black uniform) always seemed grumpy towards the male customer, but was more than anxious to be friendly to the females. The entertainment crew put on some great shows and seemed to be more than happy to get people out of their seats and dancing. Over all, this was a decent resort, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Comfortable, easy, friendly

This hotel is older but very clean. Food was excellent. We preferred the buffet over alacarte restaurants. The beach is lovely but the water, not so much. We moved down the beach to another area to enjoy the water there. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Spa is expensive. We enjoyed the quaint resort.

Wonderful Resort

The resort was very clean and efficient. Our room was well kept and housekeeping made it special every day. The food was excellent and our servers looked after us amazingly. They remembered what we liked and when to serve our drinks at the table. The resort grounds were well cared for. All the staff were friendly and the entertainment every night was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Riu Negril.

Awesome

Beautiful resort, very friendly staff and excellent food. A great place to relax and chill with a nice cold drink. The Sports bar stays open 24/7 for those that like to catch up on their favourite sports anywhere in the world

Nice resort

The place was clean had a problem with the toilet the wifi was not that good food was amazing entertainers were very good weather was nice beach was nice alot of seaweed in the water. I would go again.

Absolutely Amazing

The resort was absolutely beautiful, the staff were phenomenal, activities for everyone of all ages. The food at the buffet outstanding and the restaurants. Everyone from the staff ensured we felt secure and safe at all times. A must and we are coming back most definitely with our family. Thank you! Slice of heaven.

Amazing trip

The rooms were clean and very nice. The grounds were kept well maintained. The food was great and always available somewhere on the resort. The pools were clean and perfect temperatures. The beach was fun to walk and see all the different fish and underwater life. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We would definitely go back to that resort again

Lovely!

My husband and I had an awesome time away in Negril, Jamaica. We stayed at the Riu Negril and it was fantastic! Overall the hotel is lovely, clean, spacious and food was good with plenty of variety. The beach is nice, the pools refreshing, the hotel staff were super accommodating and professional. The service was very good no matter where you were...the hotel bar, hotel shops, beach bar, jerk chicken bbq station on the beach, the spa - please get a message, it was incredible! No problem mon!

We enjoyed just about everything about this resort. It was very clean, and easy to get around, we were in the first building so close to everything and steps from the beach and beach bar. There are 4 buildings so if you have a hard time walking, ask to be closer to main building. The beach was really nice and saw lots of fish snorkeling. The restaurant's were pretty good and the a la carts were also great, with no reservations needed, first come first serve. The only complaint (and wouldn't even call it a complaint) was that the nightly entertainment could have been way better. The performers were very talented and did a great job, but the shows themselves could use some work. Just an example would be their cultural and history dance show was too modernized...more traditional dances and costumes would have made the show 100 times better. -a few different gift shops with basics needs stuff and souvenirs, prices reasonable but sunscreen was almost $20/ bottle so bring lots - on site taxi service (quick too) - Scotiabank atm machine just a quick cab ride away if you want to get cash, USD or Jay's, use credit card or bank debit cards, you can also exchange foreign currency at the front desk for Jamaican dollars, but most shops etc in the negril area are marked in USD so it's much easier to deal with I don't usually write reviews but I really felt that this resort and the people working there deserved an awesome review because they made our vacation awesome. Too many people only write reviews when they're not happy, and sure, no place is perfect, and people do have bad experiences no matter where you go, but half the people writing these bad reviews are bad experiences on their own and aren't happy no matter what! So don't think you're making a mistake

Very nice resort.

I have to say that i did stay at the RIU in Ocho rios a few years ago . The food was amazing there. But in Negril the food was not as good here . But other that that it was a very nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay , but a long ride from the airport !

Great Location

Just returned from the Rui Negril with a Group of 21. The Hotel was very accommodating for a large group at all the restaurants. The entertainment was awesome there was always something happening if you wanted to be busy and if you wanted a quiet spot there was also many to be found either on the beach or smaller pools. My only complaint was I requested 10 rooms together and they were only able to put 5 together so travelling with a smaller group would work better with this Hotel.
