Great Resort

This resort is beautiful and they keep the grounds, pools, etc spotless. The beach is incredible and always lots of palapas and chairs. The pools are gorgeous too, with many loungers. The staff is attentive and friendly. They appreciate anything you do for them as well.

Beautiful resort!

Clean, well kept grounds and rooms. This is adults only but we discovered that it is a more mature crowd. Retired couples mostly. Very relaxing stay. Food was better than expected in Cuba but still rated at 3-4. We would definitely go back.

Fabulous resort

This place is great. The food is terrific, bread, eggs, fresh fruit and veg everyday. The ocean and beach are amazing. And the staff! Everyone is just lovely and they do everything to make the guest comfortable. I highly recommend. 4/5

Great resort overall

The resort was great nice and clean, food and drinks great also. The staff was ok some very friendly others very rude and treated you like a burden at times. The entertainment was pretty good, similar all week

Amazing resort except...

We have been to Cuba many times. This resort is amazing and food was delish!! Checks all the boxes you are looking for in a resort. Only 2 things. The lobby bar staff are not the most welcoming people compared to other workers they are very cranky. The other problem was they were very clearly filling up water bottles with tap water. You can tell this by smelling the water. Once their bottled water service ran out they would fill up bottles to make it look like it was a fresh bottle. Best Resort in Varadero

Well kept. Everyting worked. There was no coffee making in our room. But I was told that I just should have asked for one. The food was very good. The grounds were well kept. My only conplaint would be that you can hear your neighbours out on the balconies, and you can smell their cigarette smoke. But once you close your patio doors it's okay. We didn't spend a lot of time at the room. There are plenty of bars. You don't have to go far for a drink. The service is verry good.

Good Resort

The first room we checked in to was dark and outdated. The toilet wasn't working well. We upgraded to royal service room and it was amazing except for one big complaint. No north American plugs in the room to charge your cell phones and so each night we had to ask lobby or snack bar to charge our phones. We stayed in room 7256 and it was awesome except for the charger situation. There is a USB plug under the TV but it works slower than molasses. People are friendly at this resort. Go meet Y [... read more]ohan at the snack bar, hes the best. Ask him for the Yohan special drink. It's fruity and amazing. The sunning rep Dainerys is amazing. You can find her in the lobby every day. I highly recommend the day tour in to Havana to see Tropicana. It was beautiful show. Pool is clean at this hotel surrounded by beautiful birds singing. They have lots of activities. Salsa with Kevin and Laudy is so fun. Would come back again.

This resort is a gem for those looking for romance, relaxation and stellar service

We have returned to this resort 4 times in 17 months and each trip has been amazing! We have celebrated an anniversary and 50th birthday at the resort during these vacations as well. We have been amazing at the attention to details for these two celebrations and the enthusiasm and kindness of the staff. The beach is breathtaking, the food has been excellent with lots of variety, the staff will try their hardest to accommodate any requests you may have. They are friendly, kind and always smiling. [... read more] The rooms for both the regular Jr suite and the upgraded Royal package are both amazing value. The Royal package lives up to the name and you are treated Royally! The deep soaker jetted tub, Buttler service and patio area will add to the relaxation and the romance! We love this resort and it’s stellar staff and will continue to book here in the future.

Sick upon arriving home.

This resort is old and ugly, esp the lobby and the NON royal service section. Rooms are like dark dungeons in the non Royal Service section. Our first room did not have hot water or a working toilet, and the front desk would not help us until we contacted Trip Central and the Sunwing Rep and threatened to sue. They upgraded us to Royal Service which was not much better. No water pressure, and luke warm water at best. Not enough towels in the room, and maid would not change towels to clean  [... read more]ones when they were clearly dirty, I have never encountered this on any all inclusive in cuba or otherwise. Please note we tipped the maid $3 per day plus $10 in give aways DAILY. WE TIPPED VERY WELL and GAVE A LOT OF BRAND NEW GIFTS. So clearly this is not an incentive to change your dirty towels. There was not enough beach towels to exchange on a daily basis. Further, no beach towel service exchange at Royal Service which is closer to the beach and far from the other part of resort where you had to exchange towels. So much for royal service ... I would like to mention the butler service is pathetic and it should be removed and not mentioned as it is a lie, we never saw our butler not once. They further gave us a courtesy room that we booked in advance to freshen up before our flight after an excursion and the room had NO towels... again NOT ENOUGH CLEAN TOWELS. so what's the point? This sums up how this resort works, nothing sticks together. Food was awful and tasteless, its like being on a diabetic diet all week... i would compare the food to hospital food Very boring resort as well and the beach was nice, but not nearly as nice as cayo coco or cayo santa maria. Overall I found this resort to do the bare minimum. They did not have two beds for me and my friend when we arrived although its what we paid for..... and lied the resort was full and shoved us at night after all day traveling in a one bed room with no hot water OR working toilet. I do not recommend this resort, and quite frankly i don't think others are much better. Beach was windy. On top of everything we are both very sick upon arriving home although we did leave the resort for excursions. The only good thing is you never had to reserve a sun chair at pool or beach. Overall a hard no, and overall VARADERO is a hard no for beach go to cayo coco where people are more friendly, ,its cheaper, and beaches are nicer. .... Cuba has really gone downhill since I last visited in 2014. Further, the resort lacked basic hygiene in bed sheets, towels, cups, plates were all very dirty. I will not recommend this resort to anyone and I will not be coming back.

Really nice

Resort is designed in a very aesthetically pleasing and convenient manner. Employees were very friendly. Amenities were good, I especially enjoyed the pool table. The buffet food was okay, but the restaurants were better. Altogether, I would definitely recommend.

Beautiful property, lacks essential cleaning

Absolutely amazing property. Beach is a solid 10 out of 10. Pool is nice and kept very clean. Rooms are dated, but tidy, air conditioning just blows air around, room is very humid and musty smelling. Everything in the room including the sheets feel wet. It was a problem getting fresh towels. Buffet was well stocked and not short anything and area kept clean. 24 hour snack bar serves the essentials for a drunk visit or emergency Top Up, selection includes hotdog and fries, ham, sandwich and frie [... read more]s, spaghetti with ketchup on it. All common area bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, Not kept clean at all, most do not have toilet paper in them and some don’t even have running water. Seems like lots of staff looking after the grounds, keeping the pool, clean, etc. just nobody wants to look after those washrooms I guess. Some of the staff were very nice, some were pretty rude (lobby bar). We enjoyed our visit because we love the beach so much, but would think twice about returning just because of the smell and humidity in the rooms and the cleanliness of the common area washrooms.

Wonderful time/great people

I really enjoyed by stay there, the people were amazing and the grounds were beautiful. The only down fall I found was that the patio furniture was metal and it was rusty and that could become a health hazard. I also thought that in the future they could maybe add a boardwalk from the beach snack bar to the beach area as a person with walking disabilities found it quite hard to manoeuvre.

The resort:beautiful and very clean. The staff:very friendly. The food:average at the buffet, sports bar and beach bar. The a la cartes: average. You can't use any balcony due to rusty chairs. The sets on the balconies were all metal exposed to salt air and all of them were significantly rusting. There was no sitting outside in the evening and reading on the balcony that's for sure. If you got cut off the edge of anything let's hope your tetanus is up to date. All the balcony seating should [... read more] be replaced with resin plastic sets. Seating anywhere is very poor. The lobby cushions need to be replaced they flatten quickly. May not seem like a big deal ...but it becomes a big deal if you have bad knees. Beach and pool chairs: a lot of them are in poor condition with broken frames and torn fabric that need to be either replaced or fixed.

An absolute gem ?

This was our first time to this resort. We will definitely return. Amazing staff, so professional, welcoming and kind. Plenty of food, great variety. Beautiful beach. Go for the Royal Service. Very much worth it.

Family Vacation at our Cuba Paradise

This our 4th visit to PPDM, we absolutely love this place. This year we brought our 2 sons and their spouses for a true family holiday. At this resort everything is within a short walk and easy to get around. We feel like family to the staff here, everyone is happy to see us, and we feel love. We have made warm friendships with 4 different staff members over the years, we look forward to seeing them each visit. Please remember, this is Cuba. We always bring gifts to help them in their everyday life, and they are so appreciative! There is an abundance of good food, drinks, amazing music by wonderful musicians, and a stunning beach. The rooms and resort is extremely clean, the grounds immaculate. it is a short bus ride to the airport. We will be back again next year!

Amazing resort!

It was our first trip to Cuba, and it was a success! I had heard people complain about the food in Cuba, but we found it to be very good. There was plenty of variety: seafood, all kinds of meat, fruits, vegetables, and desserts. Our room was cleaned thoroughly every day, and the beach was amazing! Great service!

Overall it wasn’t too bad. The service is what made it a good experience. The room that I stayed in smelled like mold and did not have hot water. Finally they upgraded me to their VIP section which was a lot better but don’t expect the same cleanliness as North American, middle eastern and European hotels. There was smudges all over the place and the sheets were old. But overall, it was tolerable. The only true bad experience I had was at the hotel’s cigar shop on Sunday January 12th whe [... read more]re the lady was super rude. She made me and my friends feel as we were a nuisance to her asking questions. She then ended up throwing change at me without saying thank you. She ruined the whole experience. It’s sad that it happened on the last night too as it left a sour taste in our mouths.

Couple Getaway

Check in went well and we received exactly the room we specified. The resort is well kept. The beautiful turquoise water welcomes you at the beach with calm water that you can walk in for a distance without being to deep or rocky. Has a nice sandy bottom. Pools are cooler but well kept. Buffet was stocked with fish, beef, chicken and pork, often at the grill with a pasta station fresh, fruits, veggies and breads. Yusmilla takes pride in making great drinks and is very friendly. The snack bar was ok but needed to order food. This resort is good for getting around with short distances from lobby restaurants pools and ocean. We booked through Trip Central with Sandra Taylor who was a great agent.

Not a 5 star anymore

Two good things of this Resort: great pools and great beach Issues: Took three times to get a decent tolerable room No working air conditioning in one Broken security box Leaking on floor toilet Broken balcony door/lock No cork for bathtub Ongoing issue getting access key entry into our room Maid service missed our room more than once with no fresh towels a few days Food supply limited with no protein-meat non existent most meals. My daughter visited this resort 8 years ago and enjoyed a five star type service which wanted us to try this Resort again. This time we would not recommend and would now classify it to be maybe a two star. In closing I would like people reading this review that I have visited Cuba at least 15 times at various resorts mostly in Varadero as well as Caya Coco, Hoguin and Caya Santa Maria and would conclude that this Resort has been my least favourite by far.
