Family Vacation

The resort is large with lots of pools and separate kids water park type pools, the grounds are clean and well kept. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food at the buffet was very good (for a buffet) and the food at the ala cart restaurant's were excellent. The rooms were decent, clean and generally in good condition except for some of the furniture, it was a little wore out. This was the first trip for our grandchild and we had a great time. Amazing resort

This resort did not disappoint. Beautiful, excellent food, clean. Lots to do on and off the resort. Highly recommend. We played mini golf, spent a couple of hours at the U spa which was amazing. They offer 40 percent off in the first 48 hours of arrival. Take advantage of it. You won't regret it. The shows were fantastic. Couldn't believe the quick changes into the elaborate costumes. Barcelo Mayan Riviera March 2025

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. There was a nice variety of food every day at the buffets. I enjoyed the coffee machines. The beach was very good for kids. The pools were warm. Hard to get into the restaurants that required booking with our group of 7. Also getting a beach chair was challenging- had to reserve very early in the morning.

Paradisiac and Wonderful Place!!

This hotel left us ALL in awe. We came in a group of about 30 people for a destination wedding. All of us were amazed at the high quality of the food served, of the high cleaning standards, to the unforgettable and constant smiles of servers, dancers, actors, employees at the Reception desk, at the points of sale. The turtles in the open sea, the sea life, the multiple amenities!!! The many pools were superb. Even the TV channels offered multiple up-to-date movies and TV shows. From the personnel washing the floors and the walls (!) of hallways at 6 am in the morning, to the dedicated people collecting seaweed on a daily basis.... Zero defects. Simply amazing. We loved our stay

The grounds were beautiful and our travel was seamless. The buffet got old after a few days but the a la carte restaurants were a hit. The swimming with the sea turtles were a highlight. It was a nightmare to get a spot by the pool and beach but we managed alright. The only hiccup was we were booked for the wrong excursion and didn’t get the experience we thought we booked. Barcelo Maya Tropical

The Barcelo Maya Tropical where we stayed and the whole Barcelo complex was beautiful. I would recommend it to others and we would consider going back again. There was just one day where there was no service to our room and we had to use damp towels the next morning for showering. Other than that, our experience was great.

Amazing Resort!

The resort and beaches are well kept. There is lots to take in, snorkeling with the sea turtles and fish. Catamaran, water bikes and dolphin show. Evening shows, strikers bar, mall and markets. Everything is within walking distance or bus are available to go between resorts or mall area.

Love this resort

We were here for 10 nights and everything was amazing. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable. Love the layouts of the resorts, with all the pools across the back and separated by a pathway from the beach. The food at the buffets was great and the a-la-cartes were fabulous. Even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something. All of the staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous time and would definitely go back.

Beautiful Resort

The pool, restaurant, buffet, lobby, front desk staff were accommodating and friendly. The pools and water features clean and being so close to the spectacular beach was a bonus. Really like that we were able to access the other resorts. Felt very safe and secure on the resort.

Not a happy place

Many, many negative things but also some good. Overall staff morale is sad - especially bartenders who didn't even smile when tipped. It took almost 40 minutes from the time we reached the checkin desk until we had our key. Dirty kleenex in washroom when we arrived - housekeeping mediocre - beds straightened - towels replaced - nothing else done in room until last day - probably because it was tip day. We managed to snag a 4pm and an 8 pm meal because of a cancellation - the Italian restaurant was awesome - the Japenese not so much. Beach chairs impossible - tried to get there 6 am - chairs already spoken for !!!! Pools and pool activities excellent. Buffet meals - 5 outta 10 - no flavors - never hot - a lot of the food actually cold and inedible although chicken excellent Beach rocky All excursions very expensive - sunset catamaran tour nice but way too many people and not enough seating. Double decker bus service excellent in the resort. Resort general information non-existent - us old people like an information guide in the room Transat rep gave excellent presentation but not thorough. Common areas were very clean and the grounds immaculate. Overall I would not recommend this resort if you are looking for great customer service.

Excellent resort in all aspects!

This place is really nice. It is really big but everything seems manageable. You have access to multiple resorts and a bus to take you there, very convenient. Buffet was good, a la cartes excellent, grounds were clean, room was nice, staff incredible. A lot of families around, we met some nice people. We are not big boozers but at each bar, I saw many premium name brands, so if that's your thing, it seemed to be they aren't serving cheap stuff. The chairs are an issue if you want to sleep in. We never had a problem getting a lounger by the pool, but my wife is out there to get a chair at 7AM or earlier some days. Amazing Resort!

We loved the resort. The staff are amazing and welcoming. The grounds are pristine. Beach is beautiful and has a coral reef with lots of tropical fish. The pools are clean and there is poolside service. The buffet had lots of choices and is clean and spacious. The A La Carte restaurants we dined at were excellent - favorites being Tokyo for teppanyaki and the Italian restaurant which was located on this resort. The only negative comment I would have is the availability of chairs at the beach and pool. There does not seem to be enought because what they have is "reserved" early morning and there were quite a few people laying on the sand at the beach or on the green area by the pool. The resort was at full capacity when we visited, however, they need to invest in extra chairs They definitely have invested in having a great resort but the chair issue needs to be corrected.

Amazing Resort!

I’ve been travelling to inclusive for 25 years and will say that this was one of my better experiences. From the moment we checked in to checkout everything was top notch. Service, amenities, food, cocktails, cleanliness. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only thing that requires improvement in my opinion is they do not have enough lounge chairs. Great family holiday

Overall the hotel was amazing. Check in and out was smooth without any issues. We had requested 3 rooms together on the ground floor because we were travelling with a small child and an elderly mother and were pleased when it was honored. The pools were wonderful and my 3 year old grand daughter especially loved the kids water park area. The beach was clean and super sandy. The only complaint was the chair game ... it's alive and well at the resort. I think some people save chairs at the beach and pool so they can go between both. The first day we could only find 2 broken chairs for a family of 7 but my husband started setting his alarm for 430am and put 4 towels on chairs together and he was surprised at how many others were doing the same thing so early. The room was spacious, clean and well stocked. I had read reviews about the humidity in the rooms and it is absolutely true. There is definitely something wrong with the air conditioning/ventilation system because everything was always damp...the bed, pillows, sheets, towels and our clothes. We didn't see mold in our room but it definitely smelt moldy. When we arrived home we had to wash everything because they were still damp and smelled musty.

Better than ever

We’ve been to Barcelo Riviera Maya previously and enjoyed it. This year has brought change in a Positive way. Lots of new activities at the Tropical Pool area. And the Buffet restaurants have Theme nights.

Pool and Beach Chair Problem!

All chairs were gone very early. We were there 2 weeks Feb 8th to the 22 2025. The resort needs to fix the problem. The rest of the resort services were perfect. We enjoyed all 10 of our Ala carte dinners. Service was very good.

Beautiful, spacious resort!

What an absolute fantastic resort. This is our second time to the Barcelo Maya Tropical and it once again did not disappoint. It is even bigger than before. It has so much to do, fantastic shopping mall and so many individual vendors that sell everything you're looking or even not looking for, whatever your budget.
