Excellent place to relax

We enjoyed it very much. Everything was above the expectations. Amazing staff. Variety of food and drinks. Room was good with excellent service. Not over crowded. After 11 pm no entertainment. Friendly atmosphere.

AMAZING TRIP Jan 13-20 2023

Overall we were pleasantly surprised at how Villas Jibacoa met not just our needs but our hopes as well. If you keep in mind that this is Cuba with its charms as well as some defincencies it can be a great place to visit and explore. The resort itself was quiet (not very many people), rustic and clean with a ocean view to the front and a jungle covered cliff all along the back. There are lots of campismos (cottages for cubans) in both directions along the coast but they were mostly empty and in [... read more]teresting to explore. We hiked about 4km both ways and up the trails to lookouts on top of the cliffs. (mapcarta cuba online shows the trails if you zoom in). Interesting views at both ends of our hikes. Also a fishing village for those who are more adventurous to the east. A trip to Old Havana for about 5 hours for 5 people cost us $120 CDN Food was better than expected (nobody butting in line or stealing food) Great service from the staff Beds very comfortable (rooms could use some paint and attention) Money conversion was a little challenging until you figure out who takes what currency There were 6 of us who went and dont have anything negative to say about the place

Enjoyed our stay

Very clean rooms. Great beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Food adequate. Nice pool area right by the beach. Great price for a two week stay. Some uneven walkways so not great for those with walking challenges.

Wonderful resort at human size

From the first day I felt rested and completely at peace with myself. My headache completely disappeared. What I loved most were the bungalows scattered around the beautiful green property, dotted with palm trees of all kinds and beautifully groomed hibiscus hedges. The beach is vast and not crowded at all. It's a real treat to walk around. The sea is not all clear because there are in fact many corals including coral reefs that will amaze divers and snorkelers. You gotta love this place.

Beautiful reef and beaches and scenery

This was my second visit to this resort. Enjoyed my vacation. The food was better than my last visit. Lots of fruit and veggies. It's typical cuban resort foods. Plenty of rice and bean dishes, great breads, lots of meat choices, interesting desserts. There was no butter available. The meat cuts were odd, often gristle and bones with the meat but tasty. A couple of times no coffee but other than that the food was adequate. There are some small restaurants up the road that had good meals. They ch [... read more]arged $25 Canadian for a pork and chicken meal with lots of sides and wine included. The grounds were tidy. Newer lounge chairs around the pool and on the beach. Can't beat the price of a cuban vacation!

Hello Dear Traveler We enjoyed each and every moment at this resort and to those who complain about it (don’t listen) to their reviews please it’s unfortunately underestimated resort. It’s the best customer service we’ve ever had and the location was amazing very beautiful area with mountains and landscaping, the trees are gorgeous. I enjoyed the beach, food was at a higher level than whats expected in cuba. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. Rooms were clean and comfortable (especially the bed). Entertainment was sub par but that’s my only gripe.

Villasjibacoa resort

resort has exeecional point having bungalo for turist , beach is very long and good weatrher was 5 days good 2 days cloudy generaly o kay room had good cofortable bed food was simle but wino was perfect original , so we had good time for vacation thank you Vera

Beautiful Villas

This was my sister and myself first time. We travelled with our sister and sister-in-law we had an amazing time. Villas were clean and staff was amazing. The food was great along with the service everyone was great. Nice little store we visited and went up the hill for supper one evening by horse and buggy…so lovely. Will definitely return again.

An amazing resort with little villas

This was our 23 time at the villas. This was the best yet. There was lots of good food and a huge selection. The pool was great and the people are like family so kind simply beautiful people.. our room was spotless plus the grounds were beautiful. I can hardly wait till next November for our 24 time.

Great resort!

We like the bungalows, grounds, beach and the snorkeling. The staff are great too. We were uninformed about the money changing and use of credit cards. One cannot use credit cards at this resort. You can get 45 pesos for a Canadian dollar from a resort waitress or a lifeguard but not knowing this, when we got there we only got 18 pesos for a dollar at the front desk of the hotel. Also the resort was occupied mainly by Cuban families which caused problems at the restaurant with line ups and peopl [... read more]e butting into the line to join their family of up to 20 people. But we learned how to get around these problems with help from the staff.

Sad days at Jibacoa

I feel nothing but sorrow regarding Villa Jibacoa. This will be our last visit there. The beach and reef were spectacular as always and the workers are dear and overwhelmed with the difficulty of the situation. What is the situation? Not enough food and no credible explanation for its lack. I’m not talking about grand feasts. We don’t expect that and don’t go to Cuba for the food. But a bit of butter would be nice. Some milk. Less turkey necks and shrimp heads. We know there are shortages  [... read more]but believe that is not the real issue. Hot coffee served in thin plastic cups , no dinner dishes causing huge waits. A lack of civility with the lineups by nationals that one could argue is cultural but we’ve all been to other resorts and not experienced it. No managerial presence whatsoever. The staff pleasant but unable to do anything. Understaffed. A feeling that we were not wanted, which is not a feeling I’d be willing to pay for. Many bewildered guests - most who’d been coming for years. Stories whispered. Very unpleasant. So…not a happy place.

Very disappointed

I'm more tolerant than some and generally don't like to complain in writing, particularly about a resort in a country that has suffered as much as Cuba, but since you asked.... The reviews on Trip Advisor of Villa Jibacoa pretty much sum up our experience. It was our third time at this resort and it was great to be back on the fabulous beach and reunite with the marvellous staff, but there seems to be a remarkable lack of leadership. My complaints are legion, but the most important is lack of any kind of intelligent design in feeding the hoards. If there are 20 people in a queue (I use the term loosely) who want 5-7 servings of ice cream, why not add another server to speed things up? Would be great if Canadian tourists and Cuban tourists could meet half-way to bridge the culture gap. Many people of both nationalities behaved poorly, showing either aggression, or lack of consideration or patience. I feel so sorry for the staff who do their absolute best. Also would be great to clean the pool more often and designate a couple of daily "quiet music" hours at the pool for those who can't adapt to the Cuban beat. Please read the Trip Advisor reports. None of our party of 9 (one of whom has been to this resort 25 times) is planning to return, oh so sadly. Brought down tons of medical supplies and other goodies which I fear will be missed by the locals if enough Canadians stay away. Delighted we made an overnight trip to Havana for great food and some quiet away time. Love the people and the country. This resorts needs some serious leadership/management training and cultural sensitivity training should be required for ALL guests before arrival.

Amazing relaxing resort

Great resort Mountain on one side Beach and Corel reef the other Bungalows steps from beach Loving and caring staff Amazing locals Great time to be had definitely going back once Covid settles down Bring and leave things for everyone lack of tourism had really hurt them and ask around for better exchange rates

No Covid Social Distancing

In the dinning room (which was a buffet) there was absolutely no social distancing. Let me explain, the hotel occupants or guest were comprised of approximately 80% Cuba tourists and 20% Canadian tourists. The Cuban tourists were shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip, rude, abnoxious, pushy and jumping line to get their food from the buffet. It was unbelievable!!!

Lovely blond sand beach. Beautiful landscaping: Royal Havana and coco palms, bougainvilleas abloom, May flower and caleta trees set in a park-like, well maintained sweet grass setting. Very quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Villas are built in a quaint 60's tropical style, with big balcony in front where we sat, read and had cocktails. There are two nice medium sized pools - for children and adults. Service is good, staff friendly, and efficient. The restaurant is nice and bright, waitresses on the ball. Food ingredients are good. However, the preparation, alas, is at best uneven. A pity. There is a small serviceable bar by the pool, and a larger lobby bar with barmen and women who are exemplary: quick, smiling, with a can-do attitude, and professional efficacy. A pleasure to encounter when you need a morning shot of caffeine, or a cocktail, anytime. The reception and PR staff are wonderful: most attentive, informative and always helpful. Our chamber maid was great, too.

Love the villa and the people

We had a great time for 10 days.weather was great our room was on the ocean.the staff was excellent.we did run out of a few things in the buffet,but always got enough to eat.all in all great trip.going again and it will be 23 times,so we love it

Below par Resort

This was my worst experience in Cuba. the resort grounds were a 7, staff some were nice and others were not friendly at all, 6, food was absolutely awful , ZERO, liver and fish everyday for lunch and dinner.It was overrun with feral cats and dogs, which attacked 3 people and nothing done about it. Could not get beer at the Lobby bar until after 10:30 pm or you could "BUY", so much for all inclusive. So many rude Cubans staying at the resort with so many loud and rude children. The beach was very nice and typical of Cuba , too bad everything else was well below other resorts. Another example you get what you pay for, the low price was definitely not worth it.

No reason to go anywhere else

9th time in cuba. 5th at villas jibacoa. Arriving there is like coming home. Great snorkeling right off the beach. With it being halfway between havana and veradero and having 2 great lobster restaurants within a 5minute walk why go anywhere else??

Breath Taking View and Amazing staff

I have been to this resort 2 times and plan on becoming a repeat visitor. The staff is absolutely amazing and the resort is a whole new experience. The bungalows give it a village type of feeling and the grounds are extremely well kept and clean. Same for the rooms and buffet. I love this place!
