Islazul los Defines amazing resort

The staff was amazingly friendly. The A la carte was excellent and the rooms are clean. The hotel is in a great location with a great view. You can sit on the terrace overlooking the beach. Great place to enjoy the cuban culture. We have stayed here the last three years.

Nice Little Resort In Town

This was my third stay at Los Delfines. Like many Cuban resorts in the 3 - star category it is a little rough around the edges, but it is small (about 100 rooms), and pleasant; nice pool, good beach. I find the food here quite good, but, I maintain reasonable expectations. Service at the restaurant and bars is spotty, sometimes good, sometimes not. Our room was in the building by the beach, over the "Lobby Bar", so a little noisy and smokey by times. I prefer rooms in the other buildings. Beautiful resort

Joye was beautiful I enjoy staying there people was great safe place and will return again thanks again for your wonderful hospitality I will recommend this resort to my family and friends possible bring them next winter for a vacation

Great downtown resort!

My room was pretty basic and everyone else agreed about theirs, but it’s a small resort downtown that is close to everything. The staff are incredibly friendly, I particularly loved the Pedro from the entertainment team- lots of fun! I recommend to everyone.

Best location

The food is not great except for the one night you can book for the specialty dining. Beach are is great. Lots of great dining restaurants within walking distance. Two straw markets within a few blocks.

We had a great holiday

We stayed @ Los Delfines last year. Found the food was better this year. The rooms were much nicer this year. The pools however were cold and murky. Did not swim in pool. This year we swam in the ocean more and enjoyed it very much, warm ocean!!! The staff was exceptional as before, friendly approachable, helpful and fun to be around. The hotel is in a great location!!Sea,beach, sand beautiful!!!

The coffee was great the food at the hotel terrible!! The hotel does the best with what it has, the staff nice & friendly!!Internet withdrawal because it's not available everywhere due to government control!!It is very unlikely that I will return to Cuba for a vacation unless the country opens up to Capitolism & frees the ppl!!

Resort good beach practices not so good.

We were at this resort for 10 nights – From Oct 30 to Nov 9 2018. This was the second time at this resort, first time was better, approx 1 year ago. Food, room and drinks about the same, great location within Varadero accept the following: Entertainment staff really did very little except boosts their own egos. Resort store, you have to watch the girl behind the counter, charged us 3 CUC more per bottle of rum than the proper price. Only found out much later what the real price was suppose t [... read more]o be. Not all of the bartenders at the beach side bar are very friendly. Noticed some of them do not listen too well and if you correct them (if they got you the wrong drink) they do not like it and they let you know. There are a lot of locals (have no resort bands) at the resort that use the loungers and umbrellas at the beach, all they do is tip the security guards, many of them in the pool / snack bar eating and drinking for free. I also noticed that they will try and use the dining room, a little more difficult to get in. We paying customers are paying for all these under the table activities. I would not return to this resort. We have been almost 2 dozen times in Varadero. Usually go twice a year and have been to almost a dozen different resorts. We know a number of locals who do not work at the resorts and they claim it is not the same as it once was in Varadero. Now more about how much the Cubans can extract from the tourist. I will still go to Cuba, great people, great beaches etc., just make sure you check out prices before buying anything and avoid the Cubans who long forgot that they are in the customer service business.

Best Location

This is our second visit to this hotel and we refuse to stay anywhere else. Perfect place for travelers who like to explore their surroundings, as everything is in walking distance. We stayed in the ocean view room and listened to the wonderful sounds of the ocean every night. The nightly music and shows were directly under our balcony and we could watch it all from our perch. It shuts down about 11:30 pm so no need to worry about sleep interruptions. Isazul Los Defines resort

Absolutely loved this place staff our friendly and always wanting to make your vacation go easy! The location is fantastic we walked the first night for about an hour and I felt comfortable walking around I can’t wait to go back the food was not bad! The entertment everynight was good and the 24 hour bar was great! Thanks for. Great experience 😊

What a little Gem!

I had heard mixed reviews on trip advisor but was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was actually very good .. we've been to Cuba many times and know not to expect high end food. They even had Sushi one night as well and a great pork dinner and all the fixins! Our room was very clean ..however I think they could use a bleach for the towels as you could see old stains on some which was not great ...but they were clean. The location is great .. the bank on one [... read more] side a block away and a large store on the other side for shopping. All in all a great trip. I would definitely go back!

Diamond in the rough

You will not find greater staff, service or location. The beach is breathtaking and you can walk for miles. Los Delfines is in the center of Varadero and the markets are within walking distance. The food is nothing to write home about, but hey... what if you don’t go back home with that extra 5 pounds. There’s always the pasta bar. The bread and ice cream are both melt in your mouth. Wonderful hotel

Here you will find everything you need to make your own! The hotel was very clean. Biorkys has been working for a long time! The room was wonderfully clean. Comfortable bed, spacious room, nice balcony view. The pool is clean and the beach is gigantic. It is cleaned every day. There are plenty of sunbeds and sun beds. Food is good, delicious. Simply perfect! I loved! I'll be back soon!!!

Budget accomadations

For the amount we paid, the hotel was as expected, food was repetitive and bland, rooms were clean & basic. The location, beach and weather were all phenomenal, it is located in downtown Varadero close to restaurants and bus service. If you want 5 star food and accommodation then this is not the place for you, book at a different resort. Since time in Cuba is not spent in the room this suited our needs. Not likely, would pay a bit more for a better resort with better food.

Nice place!

Resort was right on the beach and well kept. Food was good. Service was good. Nothing was ever overcrowded. Did not notice anything that other people disliked. Toilet paper was always stocked in the room. Food was not bland. Staff were very friendly and prompt with service. Plenty of space on the beaches.

Unhappy

The beach was amazing! The dining room staff was friendly and great! The housekeeper was great. Not happy with the rooms we travelled as a group with family and we got put in three different building. Asked to be moved and the front desk just totally ignore us. The beds were horrible old. The bar facing the beach the staff were not friendly and ignored patrons. The alacarte restaurant was amazing especially the waiter Gustavo!

Some good, some very bad, especially the bar staff in the main oceanside bar

parts of the hotel are very old and in disrepair. Our travel mates had a very bad room in the building that houses the restaurant. Their air conditioner actually blew up, there were cockroaches in their room. They were promised another room and then the desk staff just said no it is not available. We were there for two weeks. The dining room staff were wonderful, but the food is very bland and repetitive. same thing every day. the once a la carte restaurant was great with great staff, but it  [... read more]is only available with reservation once a week. The poolside bar staff were great but it closes at 6 pm. The oceanside (main) bar, with the exception of one young woman, is the rudest, most incompetent, surly staff I have ever seen. None of these men should be serving your customers. We are polite, patient Canadians who tip well.

This hotel is upgraded. Max 1 star. No beach towels changed during 4 consecutive days. No room towels changed during 3 consecutive days. Room 216 (Imperial Suite) awful and dirty - notified guests. Do not take any room above the Bar. Difficulty getting a room (3 days waiting). No air conditioning in room 239 for the rest of the stay. Refused a new room change except above the Bar (very noisy). Picine excellent and very clean. The travel representative tells the people that Cuba does not [... read more] take anything in hotels under 4.5 stars - for not saying it at the time of purchase. The hotel was under inspection The buffet is passable - there has been improvement to the last 5 days of travel. - the washrooms were clean but barred. Very courteous staff with the exception of a hostess who shows no empathy. The key word of the hotel = magnana.

Great Central location

This resort is central to the local markets and a number of great restaurants to also support the locals. The beach is fantastic, resort very clean, friendly staff. My only concern was we didn't have hot water.

Stunning Resort

This was a really nice resort to stay in. It is a 3 star resort and stands above that standard. You are located right in town being able to go off the resort and explore the city. The food was not the greatest however was better than my expectations held. The little restaurants around the resort where amazing. Pizza, fries and beer for $4 CUC. If I went back I would definitely pick this resort again. The people working were also amazing.
